A non-minimal coupling of Weyl curvatures to electromagnetic fields is considered in Brans-Dicke-Maxwell theory. The gravitational field equations are formulated in a Riemannian spacetime where the spacetime torsion is constrained to zero by the method of Lagrange multipliers in the language of exterior differential forms. The significance and ramifications of non-minimal couplings to gravity are examined in a pp-wave spacetime.
In this paper, we introduce a non-minimally conformally coupled scalar field and dark matter in F(T) cosmology and study their dynamics. We investigate the stability and phase space behavior of the parameters of the scalar field by choosing an exponential potential and cosmologically viable form of F(T). We found that the dynamical system of equations admits two unstable critical points; thus no attractor solutions exist in this cosmology. Furthermore, taking into account the scalar field mimicking quintessence and phantom energy, we discuss the corresponding cosmic evolution for both small an…
We derive and discuss the physical interpretation of a conformally flat, static solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations. It is argued that it describes a conformally flat, static spacetime outside a charged spherically symmetric domain wall. The acceleration of gravity is directed away from the wall in spite of the positive gravitational mass of the electric field outside the wall, as given by the Tolman-Whittaker expression. The reason for the repulsive gravitation is the strain of the wall which is calculated using the Israel formalism for singular surfaces.
In this paper, we consider the special case of $F(R)$ gravity, in which $F(R)= R^{N}$ and obtain its topological black hole solutions in higher dimensions. We show that, the same as higher dimensional charged black hole, these solutions may be interpreted as black hole solutions with two event horizons, extreme black hole and naked singularity provided the parameters of the solutions are chosen suitably. But, the presented black hole is different from the standard higher-dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom solutions. Next, we focus on the conformally invariant Maxwell field coupled to Einstein grav…
In this article, we quantize the Maxwell ("massless spin one") de Sitter field in a conformally invariant gauge. This quantization is invariant under the SO$_0(2,4)$ group and consequently under the de Sitter group. We obtain a new de Sitter invariant two-points function which is very simple. Our method relies on the one hand on a geometrical point of view which uses the realization of Minkowski, de Sitter and anti-de Sitter spaces as intersections of the null cone in $\setR^6$ and a moving plane, and on the other hand on a canonical quantization scheme of the Gupta-Bleuler type.
We study the cosmological evolution and singularity crossing in the Bianchi-I universe filled with a conformally coupled scalar field and compare them with those of the Bianchi-I universe filled with a minimally coupled scalar field. We also write down the solution for the Bianchi-I Universe in the induced gravity cosmology.
We study the propagation of massless scalar fields non-minimally coupled to gravity in the background of five-dimensional Einstein-power-Maxwell black holes, and using the WKB and the pseudospectral Chebyshev methods we obtain the quasinormal frequencies (QNFs), which allow us to show the existence of stable and unstable QNFs depending on the power $k$ of the nonlinear electrodynamics, the $ξ$ parameter, which controls the strength of the non-minimal coupling, and on the size of the black hole.
After a brief review of the standard definition and analysis of classical singularities in general relativistic spacetimes, and of quantum singularities in static spacetimes with timelike classical singularities, an extension of quantum singularities to conformally static spacetimes is summarized and applied to two test cases. The timelike classical singularities in a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe with a cosmic string, and in Roberts spacetime, are shown to be quantum mechanically singular when tested by either minimally coupled or conformally coupled scalar waves. In the Roberts c…
Conformally related metrics and Lagrangians are considered in the context of scalar-tensor gravity cosmology. After the discussion of the problem, we pose a lemma in which we show that the field equations of two conformally related Lagrangians are also conformally related if and only if the corresponding Hamiltonian vanishes. Then we prove that to every non-minimally coupled scalar field, we may associate a unique minimally coupled scalar field in a conformally related space with an appropriate potential. The latter result implies that the field equations of a non-minimally coupled scalar fiel…
We present a generalization of the black hole solution with spherical symmetry already known in the literature for $N$-dimensional $F(R)$ gravity with a conformally invariant Maxwell field and constant scalar curvature $R$. This solution also includes a generalization of the one corresponding to general relativity as a special case. We introduce the formalism for the construction of a broad family of spherically symmetric thin shells in $F(R)$ theory. We use our generalized solution in order to provide examples of bubbles and thin layers of matter surrounding black holes. We analyze the stabil…
In this paper, we investigate the thermodynamics of higher-dimensional $f(R)$ black holes in the extended phase space. Both the analytic expressions and numerical results for the possible critical physical quantities are obtained. It is proved that meaningful critical specific volume only exists when $p$ is odd. This unique phenomenon may be attributed to the combined effect of $f(R)$ gravity and conformally invariant Maxwell field. It is also shown that the ratio $P_cv_c/T_c$ differs from that of higher dimensional charged AdS black holes in Einstein gravity. However, the ratio for four-dimen…
Using the Schwarzschild coordinate frame for a static cyclic symmetric metric in 2 + 1 Einstein gravity coupled to a electric Maxwell field and a dilaton logarithmically depending on the radial coordinate in the presence of an exponential potential the general solution of the Einstein Maxwell dilaton equations is derived and it is identified with the Chan Mann charged dilaton solution. Via a general SL(2;R) transformation, applied on the obtained charged dilaton metric, a family of stationary dilaton solutions has been generated; these solutions possess five parameters: dilaton and cosmologica…
''Massless'' spin-2 field equation in de Sitter space, which is invariant under the conformal transformation, has been obtained. The frame work utilized is the symmetric rank-2 tensor field of the conformal group. Our method is based on the group theoretical approach and six-cone formalism, initially introduced by Dirac. Dirac's six-cone is used to obtain conformally invariant equations on de Sitter space. The solution of the physical sector of massless spin-2 field (linear gravity) in de Sitter ambient space is written as a product of a generalized polarization tensor and a massless minimally…
In this paper, we present a class of rotating solutions in Gauss--Bonnet gravity in the presence of cosmological constant and conformally invariant Maxwell field and study the effects of the nonlinearity of the Maxwell source on the properties of the spacetimes. These solutions may be interpret as black brane solutions with inner and outer event horizons provide that the mass parameter $m$ is greater than an extremal value $m_{ext}$, an extreme black brane if $m=m_{ext}$ and a naked singularity otherwise. We investigate the conserved and thermodynamics quantities for asymptotically flat and as…
We consider Einstein gravity coupled to an $U(1)$ gauge field for which the density is given by a power of the Maxwell Lagrangian. In $d$-dimensions the action of Maxwell field is shown to enjoy the conformal invariance if the power is chosen as $d/4$. We present a class of charge rotating solutions in Einstein-conformally invariant Maxwell gravity in the presence of a cosmological constant. These solutions may be interpreted as black brane solutions with inner and outer event horizons or an extreme black brane depending on the value of the mass parameter. Since we are considering power of the…
We study the numerical propagation of waves through future null infinity in a conformally compactified spacetime. We introduce an artificial cosmological constant, which allows us some control over the causal structure near null infinity. We exploit this freedom to ensure that all light cones are tilted outward in a region near null infinity, which allows us to impose excision-style boundary conditions in our finite difference code. In this preliminary study we consider electromagnetic waves propagating in a static, conformally compactified spacetime.
We obtain scalar hairy black holes from Einstein-Maxwell-conformally coupled scalar (EMCS) theory with the scalar coupling parameter $α$ to the Maxwell term. In case of $α=0$, the $α=0$ EMCS theory provides constant (charged) scalar hairy black hole and charged BBMB (Bocharova-Bronnikov-Melnikov-Bekenstein) black hole where the former is stable against full perturbations, while the latter remains unstable because it belongs to an extremal black hole. It is noted that for $α\not=0$, the unstable Reissner-Nordström black holes without scalar hair imply infinite branches of $n=0(α\ge 8.019),1(α\g…
We study the Klein-Gordon equation of a scalar field conformally coupled to a charged BTZ black hole. The background metric is obtained by coupling a non-linear and conformal invariant Maxwell field to (2+1) gravity. We show that the radial part is generally solved by a Heun function and, in the pure gravity limit, by a hypergeometric function.
Bertotti-Robinson spacetimes are topologically $AdS_2 \times S^2$ and described by a conformally flat metric. Together with the Coulomb electric potential, they provide a class of static, geodetically complete Einstein-Maxwell solutions. We show here that the Bertotti-Robinson metric together with Wu-Yang magnetic pole potentials give a class of static solutions of a system of non-minimally coupled Einstein-Yang-Mills equations that may be relevant for investigating vacuum polarization effects in a first order perturbative approach to quantum fields.
We perform the stability analysis for the scalarized charged black holes obtained from Einstein-Maxwell-conformally coupled scalar (EMCS) theory by employing the radial perturbations. The targeting black holes include a single branch of scalarized charged black hole with the coupling parameter $α>0$ inspired by the constant scalar hairy black hole as well as infinite branches of $n=0(α\ge 8.019),1(α\ge 40.84),2(α\ge 99.89),\cdots$ scalarized charged black holes found through the spontaneous scalarization on the Reissner-Nordström black hole. It turns out that the black hole in the single branc…
We construct higher-derivative gravities with a non-minimally coupled Maxwell field. The Lagrangian consists of polynomial invariants built from the Riemann tensor and the Maxwell field strength in such a way that the equations of motion are second order for both the metric and the Maxwell potential. We also generalize the construction to involve a generic non-minimally coupled $p$-form field strength. We then focus on one low-lying example in four dimensions and construct the exact magnetically-charged black holes. We also construct exact electrically-charged $z=2$ Lifshitz black holes. We ob…
In the present work we revisit a model consisting of a scalar field with a quartic self-interaction potential non-minimally (conformally) coupled to gravity [1]. When the scalar field vacuum is in a broken symmetry state, an effective gravitational constant emerges which, in certain regimes, can lead to gravitational repulsive effects when only ordinary radiation is coupled to gravity. In this case, a bouncing universe is shown to be the only cosmological solution admissible by the field equations when the scalar field is in such a broken symmetry state.
In this paper I shall construct, in a four-dimensional space, all vector-tensor field theories that are conformally invariant, consistent with conservation of charge, and flat space compatible. By the last assumption I mean that the Lagrangian of the theory in question, is well defined and differentiable, when evaluated for either a flat metric tensor (and) or vanishing vector field. Under these assumptions there exists only two classes of Lagrangians. One is represented by the Lagrangian which yields the Bach tensor density multiplied by a constant, while the other is represented by a constan…
We analyze condensation behaviors of neutral scalar fields outside horizonless reflecting stars in the Einstein-Maxwell-scalar gravity. It was known that minimally coupled neutral scalar fields cannot exist outside horizonless reflecting stars. In this work, we consider non-minimal couplings between scalar fields and Maxwell fields, which is included to aim to trigger formations of scalar hairs. We analytically demonstrate that there is no hair theorem for small coupling parameters below a bound. For large coupling parameters above the bound, we numerically obtain regular scalar hairy configur…
A Lorentz and conformally invariant `Schrödinger-like' equation for a massless complex scalar function $ψ$ is derived from an invariant action, and it is shown how the same $ψ$ can be used to calculate both the gravitational field $h_{μν}$ of linearized Einstein gravity in the TT gauge and the electromagnetic field $F_{μν}$ in the Lorenz gauge, and that the main difference between classical and quantum aspects of such fields lies in a certain condition that the underlying scalar wave must satisfy to keep it nondispersive. It is also shown how the existence of gravitons can be inferred from the…
Non-minimally coupled Y(R)-Maxwell gravity which have some interesting solutions may be used to understand dark matter, dark energy, the origin of cosmic magnetic field and the evaluation of the universe. We give some new solutions to the model such as spherically symmetric electric, magnetic and dyon solutions. We point out an existence of an electromagnetic duality transformation for the model.
In this paper, we investigate holographic superconductors dual to asymptotically anti-de Sitter black holes in an Einstein-Maxwell-scalar model with a non-minimal coupling between the scalar and Maxwell fields. In the probe limit, it shows that the scalar condensate occurs below the critical temperature $T_{c}$, and decreases with the increase of the coupling constant $α$. On the other hand, the the critical temperature $T_{c}$ increases as the coupling constant $α$ grows. We also calculate the optical conductivity of the holographic superconductor, and observe that a gap forms below $T_{c}$. …
This paper generalizes two previously known techniques for generating minimally coupled Einstein-scalar field solutions in 4 dimensions; the Buchdahl and Fonarev transformations. By applying this solution generation technique, minimally coupled Einstein-scalar field solutions can be generated from vacuum solutions with arbitrary cosmological constant in arbitrary dimension. The only requirement to a seed solution is that it posesses a hypersurface-orthogonal Killing vector field. The generalization that allows us to use seed solutions with arbitrary cosmological constant uncovers a new class o…
The thermodynamics of Maxwell-Dilaton (dirty) black holes has been extensively studied. It has served as a fertile ground to test ideas about temperature through various definitions of surface gravity. In this paper, we make an independent analysis of this black hole solution in both, Einstein and Jordan, frames. We explore a set of definitions for the surface gravity and observe the different predictions they make for the near extremal configuration of this black hole. Finally, motivated by the singularity structure in the interior of the event horizon, we use a holographic argument to remove…
We study the back reaction effect of massless minimally coupled scalar field at finite temperatures in the background of Einstein universe. Substituting for the vacuum expectation value of the components of the energy-momentum tensor on the RHS of the Einstein equation, we deduce a relationship between the radius of the universe and its temperature. This relationship exhibit a maximum temperature, below the Planck scale, at which the system changes its behaviour drastically. The results are compared with the case of a conformally coupled field. An investigation into the values of the cosmologi…
We consider the Lagrangian density for a free Maxwell field, in which the electromagnetic field tensor minimally couples to the affine connection, in the Einstein-Cartan-Sciama-Kibble theory of gravity. We derive the formulae for the torsion and electromagnetic field tensors in terms of the electromagnetic potential. The divergence of the magnetic field does not vanish: the photon-torsion coupling acts like an effective magnetic monopole density. Such a coupling, which breaks U(1) gauge invariance, is significant only at extremely high energies existing in the very early Universe or inside bla…
Solution generating techniques for general relativity with a conformally (and minimally) coupled scalar field are pushed forward to build a wide class of asymptotically flat, axisymmetric and stationary spacetimes continuously connected to Kerr. This family contains, amongst other things, rotating extensions of the Bekenstein black hole and also its angular and mass multipolar generalisations. Further addition of NUT charge is also discussed.
A massless scalar field minimally coupled to the gravitational field in a simplified spherical symmetry is discussed. It is shown that, in this case, the solution found by Roberts, describing a scalar field collapse, is in fact the most general one. Taking that solution as departure point, a study of the gravitational collapse for the self-similar conformal case is presented.
We propose a general method for solving exactly the static field equations of Einstein and Einstein-Maxwell gravity minimally coupled to a scalar field. Our method starts from an ansatz for the scalar field profile, and determines, together with the metric functions, the corresponding form of the scalar self-interaction potential. Using this method we prove a new no-hair theorem about the existence of hairy black-hole and black-brane solutions and derive broad classes of static solutions with radial symmetry of the theory, which may play an important role in applications of the AdS/CFT corresp…
In a four-dimensional space I shall construct all of the conformally invariant, scalar-vector-tensor field theories that are consistent with conservation of charge, and flat space compatible. By the last assumption I mean that the Lagrangian of the theory in question is well defined and differentiable when evaluated for either a flat metric tensor, (and) or constant scalar field, (and) or vanishing vector potential. The Lagrangian of any such field theory can be chosen to be a linear combination of six conformally invariant scalar-vector-tensor Lagrangians, with the coefficients being scalar f…
We give the Lagrangian formulation of a generic non-minimally extended Einstein-Maxwell theory with an action that is linear in the curvature and quadratic in the electromagnetic field. We derive the coupled field equations by a first order variational principle using the method of Lagrange multipliers. We look for solutions describing plane-fronted Einstein-Maxwell waves with parallel rays. We give a family of exact solutions associated with a partially massless spin-2 photon and a partially massive spin-2 graviton.
We investigate the $P-V$ criticality and the Maxwell equal area law for a five-dimensional spherically symmetric AdS black hole with a scalar hair in the absence of and in the presence of a Maxwell field, respectively. Especially in the charged case, we give the exact $P-V$ critical values. More importantly, we analyze the validity and invalidity of the Maxwell equal area law for the AdS hairy black hole in the scenarios without and with charges, respectively. Within the scope of validity of the Maxwell equal area law, we point out that there exists a representative van der Waals-type oscillat…
In this paper we characterize the source-free Einstein-Maxwell spacetimes which have a trace-free Chevreton tensor. We show that this is equivalent to the Chevreton tensor being of pure-radiation type and that it restricts the spacetimes to Petrov types \textbf{N} or \textbf{O}. We prove that the trace of the Chevreton tensor is related to the Bach tensor and use this to find all Einstein-Maxwell spacetimes with a zero cosmological constant that have a vanishing Bach tensor. Among these spacetimes we then look for those which are conformal to Einstein spaces. We find that the electromagnetic f…
We investigate the robustness of some recent results obtained for homogeneous and isotropic cosmological models with conformally coupled scalar fields. For this purpose, we investigate anisotropic homogeneous solutions of the models described by the action $$ S=\int d^4x \sqrt{-g}\left\{F(ϕ)R - \partial_aϕ\partial^aϕ-2V(ϕ) \right\}, $$ with general $F(ϕ)$ and $V(ϕ)$. We show that such a class of models leads generically to geometrical singularities if for some value of $ϕ$, $F(ϕ)=0$, rendering previous cosmological results obtained for the conformal coupling case highly unstable. We show that …
We study a toy model for phantom cosmology recently introduced in the literature and consisting of two oscillators, one of which carries negative kinetic energy. The results are compared with the exact phase space picture obtained for similar dynamical systems describing, respectively, a massive canonical scalar field conformally coupled to the spacetime curvature, and a conformally coupled massive phantom. Finally, the dynamical system describing exactly a minimally coupled phantom is studied and compared with the toy model.
We investigate higher-derivative extensions of Einstein-Maxwell theory that are invariant under electromagnetic duality rotations, allowing for non-minimal couplings between gravity and the gauge field. Working in a derivative expansion of the action, we characterize the Lagrangians giving rise to duality-invariant theories up to the eight-derivative level, providing the complete list of operators that one needs to include in the action. We also characterize the set of duality-invariant theories whose action is quadratic in the Maxwell field strength but which are non-minimally coupled to the …
Consider multidim. universes M= R x M_1 x ... x M_n with D = 1+ d_1 .. + d_n, where M_i of dimension d_i are of have constant curvature and compact for i>1. For Lagrangian models L(R,phi) on M which depend only on Ricci curvature R and a scalar field phi, there exists an explicit description of conformal equivalence, with the minimal coupling model and the conformal coupling model as distinguished representatives of a conformal class. For the conformally coupled model we study classical solutions and their relation to solutions in the equivalent minimally coupled model. The domains of equivale…
Three different classes of static solutions of the Einstein--Maxwell equations non--minimally coupled to a dilaton field are presented. The solutions are given in general in terms of two arbitrary harmonic functions and involve among others an arbitrary parameter which determines their applicability as charged black holes, dilaton black holes or strings. Most of the known solutions are contained as special cases and can be non--trivially generalized in different ways.
We construct a new class of higher dimensional black hole solutions of $f(R)$ theory coupled to a nonlinear Maxwell field. In deriving these solutions the traceless property of the energy-momentum tensor of the matter filed plays a crucial role. In $n$-dimensional spacetime the energy-momentum tensor of conformally invariant Maxwell field is traceless provided we take $n=4p$, where $p$ is the power of conformally invariant Maxwell lagrangian. These black hole solutions are similar to higher dimensional Reissner-Nordstrom AdS black holes but only exist for dimensions which are multiples of four…
We discuss Petrov type D Einstein-Maxwell fields in which both double null eigenvectors of the Weyl tensor are non-aligned with the eigenvectors of a non-null electromagnetic field and are assumed to be geodesic, shear-free, diverging and non-twisting. We obtain the general solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations under the extra condition that the complex null vectors of the Weyl canonical tetrad are hypersurface orthogonal. The corresponding space-times are all conformally related to a Killing-Yano space and are described by a 5-parameter family of metrics, admitting two commuting Killing …
Non-minimally coupling a scalar field to gravity introduces an additional curvature term into the action which can change the general behavior in strong curvature regimes, in particular close to classical singularities. While one can conformally transform any non-minimal model to a minimally coupled one, that transformation can itself become singular. It is thus not guaranteed that all qualitative properties are shared by minimal and non-minimal models. This paper addresses the classical singularity issue in isotropic models and extends singularity removal in quantum gravity to non-minimal mod…
We consider the existence of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton plus fluid system for the case of stationary cylindrically symmetric spacetimes. An exact inhomogeneous $ ε$-order solution is found, where the parameter $ε$ parametrizes the non-minimally coupled electromagnetic field. Some its physical attributes are investigated and a connection with already known Gödel-type solution is given. It is shown that the found solution also survives in the string-inspired charged gravity framework. We find that a magnetic field has positive influence on the chronology violation unlike the dilaton influence.
It has been previously shown that a Gauss-Bonnet term non-minimally coupled to a scalar field produces a scalarised black hole solution, which can be considered as having secondary scalar hair, parametrised in terms of the black hole's mass and charge. In this paper we extend a previously investigated linear coupling of the form $f(ϕ)=ϕ$ to a non-minimally coupled Maxwell term, with the form $\frac{1}{8}F_{μν}F^{μν}+βϕF_{μν}F^{μν}$. By using numerical methods the solutions to the full differential equations are found, as well as a perturbative expansion in the $r\rightarrow\infty$ limit and a …
By using the 't Hooft "brick wall" model and the Pauli-Villars regularization scheme we calculate the statistical-mechanical entropy arising from the minimally coupled scalar fields which rotate with the azimuthal angular velocity $Ω_0=Ω_H$ ($Ω_H$ is the angular velocity of the black hole horizon) in the general four-dimensional non-extreme stationary axisymmetric black hole space-time. We also show, for the Kerr-Newman and the Einstein-Maxwell dilaton-axion black holes, that the statistical-mechanical entropy obtained from our derivation and the quantum thermodynamical entropy by the conical …
In this paper, Brans-Dicke-Maxwell type vacuum solutions are considered for a static cylindrically symmetric spacetime in arbitrary dimensions. Exact solutions are obtained by directly solving the field equations for the case where an azimuthal magnetic field is present. Other configurations such as axial magnetic field case can be obtained by suitably relabeling the coordinates. We have also considered conformally related "Einstein frame" to relate the solutions we have obtained with the dilaton-Maxwell type solutions that exist in the literature. We see that for a special case the general so…
We investigate the necessary condition for the existence of classical Euclidean wormholes in a conformally non-invariant gravitational model minimally coupled to an scalar field. It is shown that while the original Ricci tensor with positive eigenvalues does not allow the Euclidean wormholes to occur, under dynamical conformal transformations the Ricci tensor, with respect to the original metric, is dynamically coupled with the conformal field and its eigenvalues may become negative allowing the Euclidean wormholes to occur. Therefore, it is conjectured that dynamical conformal transformations…
We show that the scalar-tensor $σ$-model action is conformally equivalent to general relativity with a minimally coupled wavemap with a particular target metric. Inflation on the source manifold is then shown to occur in a natural way due both to the arbitrary curvature couplings and the wavemap self-interactions.
We find new solutions to the five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with cosmological constant where the dilaton field couples to the electromagnetic field as well as to the cosmological term with two different coupling constants. The five-dimensional spacetime is non-stationary and is a conformally regular spacetime, everywhere. Both the dilaton field and the electromagnetic field depends on time and two spatial directions. The cosmological constant takes positive, negative or zero value, depending on the value of coupling constant. We study the physical properties of the spacetime …
In Einstein-Maxwell gravity with a conformally coupled scalar field, the black hole found by Bocharova, Bronnikov, Melnikov, and Bekenstein breaks when embedded in the external magnetic field of the Melvin universe. The situation improves in presence of acceleration, allowing one to build magnetised and accelerating BBMB black hole with a thin membrane. But to overcome this and others disadvantages of BBMB spacetimes, a new class of black holes, including the rotating case, is proposed for the conformal matter coupling under consideration.
A new solution to the Einstein-Maxwell field equations is presented describing a cylindrically symmetric homogeneous cosmology. The solution is conformally flat, it possesses seven Killing vectors of which the timelike one is rotating and one of the spacelike, pseudorotating. Our solution also admits a Kerr-Schild form. It is alternatively produced by different electromagnetic sources some of which represent constant null electromagnetic fields, while the others, a circularly polarized plane electromagnetic wave (seemingly, a unique situation in general relativity). The concrete electromagneti…
We investigate the dephasing suffered by a nonrelativistic quantum particle within a conformally fluctuating spacetime geometry. Starting from a minimally coupled massive Klein-Gordon field, the low velocity limit yields an effective Schrodinger equation where the wave function couples to gravity through an effective nonlinear potential induced by the conformal fluctuations. The quantum evolution is studied through a Dyson expansion scheme up to second order. We show that only the nonlinear part of the potential can induce dephasing. This happens through an exponential decay of the off diagona…
