We study theoretically the spatial distribution of spontaneous magnetic fields near a (110) surface of cuprate high-$T_C$ superconductor YBCO by treating a bilayer $t-J$ model with the Bogoliubov-de Gennes method. Near a (110) surface where $d_{x^2-y^2}$-wave superconductivity is strongly suppressed, flux phase order occurs locally leading to a time-reversal symmetry broken surface state. Since the spontaneous currents flowing in the flux phase in two layers are antiparallele, resulting spontaneous magnetic fields are quite small. They exist in a narrow region inside the superconductor, and essentially vanish outside irrespective of the temperature. This result, together with the splitting of zero-energy peak of the local density of states, can provide consistent explanations for several experiments on YBCO.
Spatial distributions of spontaneous magnetic fields near a surface of cuprate high-$T_C$ superconductor YBCO with broken time-reversal symmetry are calculated using the Ginzburg-Landau theory derived from the $t-J$ model. It is found that the magnetic field exists in a narrow region inside the superconductor, and it decays quickly outside the surface. Experimental approaches possible to detect such spontaneous magnetic fields are discussed.
We report the results of a search for spontaneous magnetism due to a time reversal symmetry breaking phase in the superconducting state of (110)-oriented YBCO films, expected near the surface in this geometry. Zero field and weak transverse field measurements performed using the low-energy muon spin rotation technique with muons implanted few nm inside optimally-doped YBCO-(110) films show no appearance of spontaneous magnetic fields below the superconducting temperature down to 2.9 K. Our results give an upper limit of ~0.02 mT for putative spontaneous internal fields.
Weak spontaneous magnetic fields are observed near the surface of YBCO films using Beta-detected Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. Below Tc, the magnetic field distribution in a silver film evaporated onto the superconductor shows additional line broadening, indicating the appearance of small disordered magnetic fields. The line broadening increases linearly with a weak external magnetic field applied parallel to the surface, and is depth-independent up to 45 nm from the Ag/YBCO interface. The magnitude of the line broadening at 10 K extrapolated to zero applied field is less than 0.2 G, and is clos…
The influence of YBa2Cu3O4 (YBCO) superconductor layer (S-layer) with varying thickness d-YBCO = 20 to 50 nm on the magnetic coupling between two La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 (LCMO) ferromagnet layers (F-layer, thickness d-LCMO = 50 nm) in F/S/F heterostructures (HSs) was investigated by measuring global magnetization (M) in a temperature (T) range = 2 - 300 K and magnetic field (H) range = 0 - 10 kOe. All the HSs were superconducting with critical temperature (Tc) decreasing from = 78 to 36 K with decrease in d-YBCO, whereas the ferromagnetic ordering temperature Tm = 250 K did not change much. Systemati…
Following the early discovery of stripe-like order in La-based copper-oxide superconductors, charge ordering instabilities were observed in all cuprate families. However, it has proven difficult to distinguish between uni- (stripes) and bi-directional (checkerboard) charge order in Y- and Bi-based materials. Here we use resonant x-ray scattering (RXS) to measure the two-dimensional structure factor in YBCO, in reciprocal space. Our data reveal the presence of charge stripe order, i.e. locally unidirectional density waves, suggesting it as the true microscopic nature of charge modulations in cu…
We study surface states of high-$T_C$ cuprate superconductor YBCO using the bilayer $t-J$ model. Calculations based on the Bogoliubov de Gennes method show that a flux phase that breaks time-reversal symmetry (${\cal T}$) may arise near a (110) surface where the $d_{x^2-y^2}$-wave superconductivity is strongly suppressed. It is found that the flux phase in which spontaneous magnetic fields in two layers have opposite directions may be stabilized in a wide region of doping rate, and split peaks in the local density of states appear. Near the surface, spontaneous magnetic field may not be observ…
Although considerable studies have been carried out, the true nature of high-Tc superconductors (HTCS) is still not clear. Pseudogap phase at high temperature as well as possible time reversal symmetry breaking at low temperature need further investigations. The need of carefully made samples showing the intrinsic properties of superconductivity is essential to test new theoretical developments. We present in this paper how to control crystallographic orientation in the junction and a technique developed to determined the quality of the interface barrier between a gold electrode and a HTCS : Y…
Measurements of the Hall effect and the resistivity on precisely-patterned YBCO thin films in magnetic fields B from 0.5 to 6 T oriented parallel to the sample crystallographic c axis reveal a sign reversal of the Hall coefficient for B <= 3 T. The data are compared to the full, quantitative expressions based on the renormalized fluctuation model for the Hall conductivity. The model offers a satisfactory understanding of the experimental results, for moderate fields and temperatures near the critical region, provided that the inhomogeneity of the critical temperature distribution is also taken…
The Nernst coefficient of the cuprate superconductor YBa2Cu3Oy was recently shown to become strongly anisotropic within the basal plane when cooled below the pseudogap temperature T*, revealing that the pseudogap phase breaks the four-fold rotational symmetry of the CuO2 planes. Here we report on the evolution of this Nernst anisotropy at low temperature, once superconductivity is suppressed by a magnetic field. We find that the anisotropy drops rapidly below 80 K, to vanish in the T=0 limit. We show that this loss of anisotropy is due to the emergence of a small high-mobility electron-like po…
Assuming, as suggested by recent neutron scattering experiments, that a broken symmetry state with orbital current order occurs in the pseudo-gap phase of the cuprate superconductors, we show that there must be associated equilibrium magnetic fields at various atomic sites in the unit cell, which should be detectable by NMR experiments.
We discuss the problem of broken time reversal symmetry near grain boundaries in a d-wave superconductor based on a Ginzburg-Landau theory. It is shown that such a state can lead to fractional vortices on the grain boundary. Both analytical and numerical results show the structure of this type of state.
A novel time-reversal symmetry breaking state is found theoretically in the Josephson junction between the two-gap superconductor and the conventional s-wave superconductor. This occurs due to the frustration between the three order parameters analogous to the two antiferromagnetically coupled XY-spins put under a magnetic field. This leads to the interface states with the energies inside the superconducting gap. Possible experimental observations of this state with broken time-reversal symmetry are discussed.
In superconductors with three or more bands, time-reversal symmetry (TRS) may be broken in the presence of repulsive interband couplings, resulting in a pair of degenerate states characterized by opposite chiralities. We consider a Josephson junction between a three-band superconductor with broken TRS and a single-band superconductor. Phenomena such as asymmetric critical currents, subharmonic Shapiro steps and symmetric Fraunhhofer patterns are revealed theoretically. Existing experimental results are discussed in terms of the present work.
We show that under certain conditions multiband superconductors with broken time-reversal symmetry have a new vortex viscosity-generating mechanism which is different from that in conventional superconductors. It appears due to the existence of mixed superfluid phase-density mode inside vortex core. This new contribution is dominant near the time reversal symmetry breaking phase transition. The results could be relevant for three band superconductor $Ba_{1-x}K_{x}Fe_2As_2$.
Comment on "High Resolution Polar Effect Measurements of Sr2RuO4: Evidence for Broken Time-Reversal Symmetry in the Superconducting State" by J. Xia et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 97, 167002 (2006).
Polar Kerr effect in the spin-triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4 was measured with high precision using a Sagnac interferometer with a zero-area Sagnac loop. We observed non-zero Kerr rotations as big as 65 nanorad appearing below Tc in large domains. Our results imply a broken time reversal symmetry state in the superconducting state of Sr2RuO4, similar to He3-A.
We examine the magnetic interference patterns of Josephson junctions with a region of 0- and of pi-phase shift. Such junctions have recently been realized as c-axis YBCO-Pb junctions with a single twin boundary in YBCO. We show that in general the junction generates self-fields which introduces an asymmetry in the critical current under reversal of the magnetic field. Numerical calculations of these asymmetries indicate they account well for the unexplained features observed in single twin boundary junctions.
Conventional superconductors are strong diamagnets that through the Meissner effect expel magnetic fields. It would therefore be surprising if a superconducting ground state would support spontaneous magnetics fields. Such time-reversal symmetry broken states have been proposed for the high-temperature superconductors, but their identification remains experimentally controversial. Here we show a route to a low-temperature superconducting state with broken time-reversal symmetry that may accommodate currently conflicting experiments. This state is characterised by an unusual vortex pattern in t…
We fabricated YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_7$ (YBCO) direct current (dc) nano superconducting quantum interference devices (nanoSQUIDs) based on grain boundary Josephson junctions by focused ion beam patterning. Characterization of electric transport and noise properties at 4.2$\,$K in magnetically shielded environment yields a very small inductance $L$ of a few pH for an optimized device geometry. This in turn results in very low values of flux noise $<50\,{\rm n}Φ_0/{\rm Hz}^{1/2}$ in the thermal white noise limit, which yields spin sensitivities of a few $μ_{\rm B}/{\rm Hz}^{1/2}$ ($Φ_0$ is the magnetic…
Broken time reversal symmetry (BTRS) in d wave superconductors is studied and is shown to yield current carrying surface states. The corresponding spontaneous magnetization is temperature independent near the critical temperature Tc for weak BTRS, in accord with recent data. For strong BTRS and thin films we expect a temperature dependent spontaneous magnetization with a paramagnetic anomaly near Tc. The Hall conductance is found to vanish at zero wavevector q and finite frequency w, however at finite q,w it has an unusual structure.
Broken time reversal symmetry (BTRS) in d+id' as well as in d+is superconductors is studied and is shown to yield current carrying surface states. We evaluate the temperature and thickness dependence of the resulting spontaneous magnetization and show a marked difference between weak and strong BTRS. We also derive the Hall conductance which vanishes at zero wavevector q and finite frequency w, however at finite q,w it has an unusual structure. The chirality of the surface states leads to quantum Hall effects for spin and heat transport in d+id' superconductors.
Bulk TiSe$_2$ is an intrinsically layered transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) hosting both superconducting and charge density wave (CDW) ordering. Motivated by the recent progress in preparing two-dimensional TMDs, we study these frustrated orderings in {\it single} trilayer of TiSe$_2$ within a renormalization group approach. We establish that a novel state with time-reversal symmetry broken chiral superconductivity can emerge from the strong competition between CDW formation and superconductivity. Its stability depends on the precise strength and screening of the electron-electron interact…
We demonstrate that films of unconventional (d-wave) superconductor at temperatures $T\lesssim 0.43 T_c$ can exhibit unusual superconducting phases. The new ground states beside the broken gauge and the point group symmetries can spontaneously break (i) continuous translational symmetry and form periodic order parameter structures in the plane of the film, or (ii) time-reversal symmetry and develop supercurrent flowing along the film. These states are result of the strong transverse inhomogeniety present in films with thickness of several coherence lengths. We show a natural similarity between…
In three-band BCS superconductors with repulsive interband interactions, frustration between the bands can lead to an inherently complex gap function, arising out of a phase difference between the bands in the range 0 and π. Since the complex conjugate of this state is also a solution, the ground state is degenerate, and there appears a time-reversal-symmetry-broken state. In this paper we investigate the existence of this state as a function of interband coupling strength and show how a new phase transition appears between the TRSB and conventional BCS states.
Comin et al. [Science 347, 1335 (2015)] have interpreted their resonant X-ray scattering experiment as indicating that charge inhomogeneities in the family of high-temperature superconductors YBa2Cu3O6+y (YBCO) have the character of one-dimensional stripes rather than two-dimensional checkerboards. The present comment shows that one cannot distinguish between stripes and checkerboards on the basis of the above experiment.
We propose and implement a direct experimental test for subdominant superconducting phases with broken time-reversal symmetry in d-wave superconductors. The critical current of 45-degree asymmetric grain boundary junctions are shown to be extremely sensitive to the predicted onset of a complex order parameter at (110)-surfaces and near magnetic impurities. Measurements in YBCO and Ni-doped YBCO junctions indicate that the symmetry at the surface is consistent with pure d-wave at all temperatures, putting limits on the magnitude and chiral domain structure of any subdominant symmetry component.
A detailed analysis of the symmetric tetracrystal geometry used in phase-sensitive pairing symmetry experiments on high Tc superconductors is carried out for both bulk and surface time-reversal symmetry-breaking states, such as the d+id' and d+is states. The results depend critically on the substrate geometry. In the general case, for the bulk d+id' (or d+is) state, the measured flux quantization should in general not be too different from that obtained in the pure d-wave case, provided |d'| << |d| (or |s| << |d|). However, in one particular high symmetry geometry, the d+id' state gives result…
Using Monte Carlo simulations, we explore the phase diagram and the phase transitions in $\groupUZ$ $n$-band superconductors with spontaneously broken time-reversal symmetry (also termed $s+is$ superconductors), focusing on the three-band case. In the limit of infinite penetration length, the system under consideration can, for a certain parameter regime, have a single first order phase transition from a $\groupUZ$ broken state to a normal state due to a nontrivial interplay between $\groupU$ vortices and $\groupZ$ domain walls. This regime may also apply to multicomponent superfluids. For oth…

We report point contact Andreev Reflection (PCAR) measurements on a high-quality single crystal of the non-centrosymmetric superconductor Re6Zr. We observe that the PCAR spectra can be fitted by taking two isotropic superconducting gaps with Delta_1 ~ 0.79 meV and Delta_2 ~ 0.22 meV respectively, suggesting that there are at least two bands which contribute to superconductivity. Combined with the observation of time reversal symmetry breaking at the superconducting transition from muon spin relaxation measurements (Phys. Rev. Lett. 112, 107002 (2014)), our results imply an unconventional super…
Over the last years a lot of theoretical and experimental efforts have been made to find states with broken time reversal symmetry (BTRS) in multi-band superconductors. In particular, it was theoretically proposed that in the Ba$_{1-x}$K$_{x}$Fe$_2$As$_2$ system either an $s+is$ or an $s+id$ BTRS state may exist at high doping levels in a narrow region of the phase diagram. Here we report the observation of an enhanced zero field muon spin relaxation rate below the superconducting transition temperature for a high quality crystalline sample with $x \approx$ 0.73. This indicates that indeed the…
In order to examine the influences of the spatial dependence of the pair potential, the d.c. Josephson current in d-wave superconductors is calculated using self-consistently determined pair potentials. The results show that the suppression of the d-wave pair potential near the insulator does not have serious effect on the properties of the Josephson current. On the other hand, drastic changes are obtained due to the inducement of a subdominant s-wave component, which spontaneously breaks time reversal symmetry. Especially, a rapid enhancement of the Josephson current at low temperature predic…
The symmetry properties of the order parameter characterize different phases of unconventional superconductors. In the case of the heavy-fermion superconductor UPt$_3$, a key question is whether its multiple superconducting phases preserve or break time-reversal symmetry (TRS). We tested for asymmetry in the phase shift between left and right circularly polarized light reflected from a single crystal of UPt$_3$ at normal incidence, finding that this so-called polar Kerr effect appears only below the lower of the two zero-field superconducting transition temperatures. Our results provide eviden…
Polar Kerr effect in the high-Tc superconductor \YBCO was measured at zero magnetic field with high precision using a cyogenic Sagnac fiber interferometer. We observed non-zero Kerr rotations of order $\sim 1 μ$rad appearing near the pseudogap temperature $T^*$, and marking what appears to be a true phase transition. Anomalous magnetic behavior in magnetic-field training of the effect suggests that time reversal symmetry is already broken above room temperature.
The recently demonstrated x-ray scattering approach using a free electron laser with a high field pulsed magnet has opened new opportunities to explore the charge density wave (CDW) order in cuprate high temperature superconductors. Using this approach, we substantially degrade the superconductivity with magnetic fields up to 33 T to investigate the onset of CDW order in YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_x$ at low temperatures near a putative quantum critical point (QCP) at $p_1\sim $ 0.08 holes per Cu. We find no CDW can be detected in a sample with a doping concentration less than $p_1$. Our results indicate …
The cryptoferromagnetic state (the state with intrinsic domain structure) in superconducting ferromagnets subjected to external magnetic field is studied theoretically. Ferromagnetism originates either from electron spin or the intrinsic angular momentum of Cooper pairs (chiral p-wave superconductors like $\mathrm{Sr_2 Ru O_4}$). The phase transitions towards the Meissner and the mixed states are investigated, and the magnetic phase diagrams are obtained. Cryptoferromagnetism, as a form coexistence of superconductivity and ferromagnetism, can be detected by observation of magnetization curves …
Symmetry of the order parameter in some triplet superconductors corresponds to doubly-degenerate chiral states. We predict that in a sufficiently small sample this degeneracy can be lifted via macroscopic quantum tunneling. Moreover, if the initial state is prepared correspondingly, 'instanton'-like quantum behavior is possible in a single-domain sample. In this case coherent oscillations of magnetic momentum should take place, as well as the sign alternations of the boundary currents. In particular, spontaneous Hall-effect recently predicted for ruthenates should posses the oscillating voltag…
In this paper we study the order parameter and density of states near a grain boundary between two $d_{x^2-y^2}$ superconductors. We examine broken time reversal symmetry near the interface. In particular we show that, under suitable circumstances, time reversal symmetry must be broken even when the order parameter is purely $d_{x^2-y^2}$ everywhere in space.
Effects of impurity scattering on tunneling conductance in dirty normal-metal/insulator/superconductor junctions are studied based on the Kubo formula and the recursive Green function method. The zero-bias conductance peak (ZBCP) is a consequence of the unconventional pairing symmetry in superconductors. The impurity scattering in normal metals suppresses the amplitude of the ZBCP. The degree of the suppression agrees well with results of the quasiclassical Green function theory. When superconductors have $d$+is-wave pairing symmetry, the time-reversal symmetry is broken in superconductors and…
The noncentrosymmetric superconductor Re$_6$Zr has attracted much interest due to the observation of broken time-reversal symmetry in the superconducting state. Here we report an investigation of the superconducting gap structure of Re$_6$Zr single crystals by measuring the magnetic penetration depth shift $Δλ(T)$ and electronic specific heat $C_e(T)$. $Δλ(T)$ exhibits an exponential temperature dependence behavior for $T~\ll~T_c$, which indicates a fully-open superconducting gap. Our analysis shows that a single gap $s$-wave model is sufficient to describe both the superfluid density $ρ_s(T)$…
We discuss the phase diagram and phase transitions in $U(1)\times \groupZ{2}$ three-band superconductors with broken time reversal symmetry. We find that beyond mean field approximation and for sufficiently strong frustration of interband interactions there appears an unusual metallic state precursory to a superconducting phase transition. In that state, the system is not superconducting. Nonetheless, it features a spontaneously broken $\groupZ{2}$ time reversal symmetry. By contrast, for weak frustration of interband coupling the energy of a domain wall between different $\groupZ{2}$ states i…
We calculate the tunneling conductance spectra of a ferromagnetic metal/insulator/superconductor using the Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk (BTK) formulation. Two possible states for the superconductor are considered with the time reversal symmetry ($\cal{T}$) broken, i.e., $d_{x^2-y^2}+is$, or $d_{x^2-y^2}+id_{xy}$. In both cases the tunneling conductance within the gap is suppressed with the increase of the exchange interaction due to the suppression of the Andreev reflection. In the $(d_{x^2-y^2}+is)$-wave case the peaks that exist when the ferromagnet is a normal metal in the amplitude of the s-wa…
We analyze edge currents and edge bands at the surface of a time-reversal symmetry breaking d_{x^2-y^2}+id_{xy} superconductor. We show that the currents have large Friedel oscillations with two interfering frequencies: \sqrt{2}k_F from sub-gap states, and 2 k_F from the continuum. The results are based independently on a self-consistent slave-boson mean field theory for the t-J model on a triangular lattice, and on a T-matrix scattering theory calculation. The shape of the edge-state band, as well as the particular frequency \sqrt{2}k_F of the Friedel oscillations are attributes unique for th…
It is commonly believed that in the absence of disorder or an external magnetic field, there are three possible types of superconducting excitation gaps: the gap is nodeless, it has point nodes, or it has line nodes. Here, we show that for an even-parity nodal superconducting state which spontaneously breaks time-reversal symmetry, the low-energy excitation spectrum generally does not belong to any of these categories, instead it has extended Bogoliubov Fermi surfaces. These Fermi surfaces can be visualized as two-dimensional surfaces generated by "inflating" point or line nodes into spheroids…
Recent experimental and theoretical interest in the superconducting phase of the heavy fermion material URu$_2$Si$_2$ has led to a number of proposals in which the superconducting order parameter breaks time-reversal symmetry (TRS). In this study we measured polar Kerr effect (PKE) as a function of temperature for several high-quality single crystals of URu$_2$Si$_2$. We find an onset of PKE below the superconducting transition that is consistent with a TRS-breaking order parameter. This effect appears to be independent of an additional, possibly extrinsic, PKE generated above the hidden order…
We report results of zero-field muon spin relaxation experiments on the filled-skutterudite superconductors~Pr$_{1-x}$Ce$_{x}$Pt$_4$Ge$_{12}$, $x = 0$, 0.07, 0.1, and 0.2, to investigate the effect of Ce doping on broken time-reversal symmetry (TRS) in the superconducting state. In these alloys broken TRS is signaled by the onset of a spontaneous static local magnetic field~$B_s$ below the superconducting transition temperature. We find that $B_s$ decreases linearly with $x$ and $\to 0$ at $x \approx 0.4$, close to the concentration above which superconductivity is no longer observed. The (Pr,…
Motivated by the spin-triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4, the thermal Hall conductivity is investigated for several pairing symmetries with broken time-reversal symmetry. In the chiral p-wave phase with a fully opened quasiparticle excitation gap, the temperature dependence of the thermal Hall conductivity has a temperature linear term associated with the topological property directly, and an exponential term, which shows a drastic change around the Lifshitz transition. Examining f-wave states as alternative candidates with $\bm d=Δ_0\hat{z}(k_x^2-k_y^2)(k_x\pm ik_y)$ and $\bm d=Δ_0\hat{z}k_xk_y(k…
URu$_2$Si$_2$ is claimed to be a chiral \emph{d}-wave superconductor with a $k_z (k_x \pm ik_y)$ time-reversal symmetry broken orbital component for the Cooper pair wave-function, which contains both nodal points and lines of nodes \cite{kasahara, kasahara2}. To study the magnetic response of such an unconventional state through a bulk, thermodynamic probe, we measured the magnetic torque $τ$ in very high-quality, well-characterized URu$_2$Si$_2$ single-crystals \cite{altarawneh,altarawneh2} at high magnetic-fields $H$ and at very low temperatures $T$. The magnetization $M(H) \propto τ(H) /H$ …
We show that three-band superconductors with broken time reversal symmetry allow magnetic flux-carrying stable topological solitons which have only a slightly higher energy than ordinary vortices. Therefore they can be induced by fluctuations or quenching the system through a phase transition. It can provide an experimental signature of the time reversal symmetry breakdown.
A novel superconducting state under the broken time-reversal symmetry is studied in conventional phonon-mediated superconductors. By solving the Eliashberg equation self-consistently with the mass renormalization effect, it is found that the even- and odd-frequency components of the order parameter coexist in the bulk system as a consequence of the broken time-reversal symmetry. This finding would direct more attention to the odd-frequency pairing that affects physical quantities, especially in strong coupling superconductors.
The superconducting state of the caged type compound Lu$_5$Rh$_6$Sn$_{18}$ has been investigated by using magnetization, heat capacity, and muon-spin relaxation or rotation ($μ$SR) measurements and the results interpreted on the basis of the group theoretical classifications of the possible pairing symmetries and a simple model of the resulting quasiparticle spectra. Our zero-field $μ$SR measurements clearly reveal the spontaneous appearance of an internal magnetic field below the transition temperature, which indicates that the superconducting state in this material is characterized by the br…
Recently, Kaminski et al. have reported that time reversal symmetry is broken in the pseudogap phase in the high temperature superconducting material Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{2+δ} (Bi-2212). Here we examine the role of translationally invariant broken time reversal states on d_{x^2-y^2} superconductors. In particular, we determine the change in the superconducting order parameter structure. We find that the broken time reversal pseudogap state that is consistent with the experiment of Kaminski et al., gives rise to a novel mixed singlet-triplet pairing d+ip phase. This d+ip state is shown to give rise…
Exotic superconductors, such as high T$_C$, topological, and heavy-fermion superconductors, require phase sensitive measurements to determine the underlying pairing. Here we investigate the proximity-induced superconductivity in nanowires of SnTe, where an $s\pm is^{\prime}$ superconducting state is produced that lacks the time-reversal and valley-exchange symmetry of the parent SnTe. This effect, in conjunction with a ferroelectric distortion of the lattice at low temperatures, results in a marked alteration of the properties of Josephson junctions fabricated using SnTe nanowires. This work e…
We observe a hysteretic reorientation of the magnetic vortex lattice in the noncentrosymmetric superconductor Ru7B3, with the change in orientation driven by altering magnetic field below Tc. Normally a vortex lattice chooses either a single or degenerate set of orientations with respect to a crystal lattice at any given field or temperature, a behavior well described by prevailing phenomenological and microscopic theories. Here, in the absence of any typical VL structural transition, we observe a continuous rotation of the vortex lattice which exhibits a pronounced hysteresis and is driven by…
In order to clarify the influence of (the presence of) the broken time-reversal symmetry state (BTRSS) induced near the interface, tunneling conductance spectra in normal metal / $d_{x^{2}-y^{2}}$-wave superconductor junctions are calculated on the basis of the quasiclassical Green's function method. The spatial dependence of the pair potential in the superconductor side is determined self-consistently. We discuss two types of the symmetry on the BTRSS; i) $d_{x^{2}-y^{2}}$+is-wave state and ii) $d_{x^{2}-y^{2}}$+i$d_{xy}$-wave state. It is shown that the amplitude of the subdominant component…
