We report studies of charge-independent (CI) and charge-dependent (CD) two-particle differential number correlation functions, $R_{2} \left( Δη, Δφ\right)$, and transverse momentum correlation functions, $P_2 \left( Δη, Δφ\right)$ of charged particles produced in \PbPb\ collisions at the LHC centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} =$ 2.76 TeV with the UrQMD, AMPT and EPOS models. Model predictions for $R_2$ and $P_2$ correlation functions are presented for inclusive charged hadrons ($h^\pm$) in selected transverse momentum ranges and with full azimuthal coverage in the pseudorapidity range $|η|< 1.0$. We compare these predictions for the strength, shape, and particularly the width of the correlation functions with recent measurements of these observables by the ALICE collaboration. Our analysis indicate that comparative studies of $R_2$ and $P_2$ correlation functions provide valuable insight towards the understanding of particle production in Pb--Pb collisions. We find, in particular, that these models have quantitatively different predictions for these three observables but none reproduce the measured correlation functions reported by the ALICE collaboration. Accounting for quantum number conservation in models, particularly charge conservation, is mandatory to reproduce the detailed measurements of number and transverse momentum correlation functions.
We study the production of hadronic resonances and their interaction in the partonic and hadronic medium using the EPOS3 model, which employs the UrQMD model for the description of the hadronic phase. We investigate the centrality dependence of the yields and momentum distributions for various resonances (rho(770),K(892),phi(1020),Delta(1232),Sigma(1385),Lambda(1520),Xi(1530) and their antiparticles) in Pb-Pb collisions at sNN= 2.76 TeV. The predictions for K(892) and phi(1020) will be compared with the experimental data from the ALICE collaboration. The observed signal suppression of the K(89…

We present a comparison of inclusive photon elliptic flow parameter (v_{2}) measured at RHIC and SPS high energy heavy-ion collision experiments to calculations done using the AMPT and UrQMD models. The new results discussed includes the comparison of the model calculations of photon v_{2} to corresponding measurements at the forward rapidities. We observe that the AMPT model which includes partonic interactions and quark coalescence as a mechanism of hadronization is in good agreement with the measurements even at forward rapidities (2.3 < η< 3.9) at RHIC as was previously observed for measur…
The correlation between the event mean-transverse momentum $[p_{\mathrm{T}}]$, and the anisotropic flow magnitude $v_n$, $ρ(v^{2}_{n},[p_{T}])$, has been argued to be sensitive to the initial conditions in heavy-ion collisions. We use simulated events generated with the AMPT and EPOS models for Au+Au at $\sqrt{\textit{s}_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV, to investigate the model dependence and the response and sensitivity of the $ρ(v^{2}_{2},[p_{T}])$ correlator to collision-system size and shape, and the viscosity of the matter produced in the collisions. We find good qualitative agreement between the correl…
We present measurement of elliptic flow, $v_2$, for charged and identified particles at midrapidity in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 7.7 - 39 GeV. We compare the inclusive charged hadron $v_2$ to those from transport model calculations, such as UrQMD model, AMPT default model and AMPT string-melting model. We discuss the energy dependence of the difference in $v_2$ between particles and anti-particles. The $v_2$ of $ϕ$ meson is observed to be systematically lower than other particles in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 11.5 GeV.
We have compared the experimental data on charged particle elliptic flow parameter (v2) in Au+Au collisions at midrapidity for \surd sNN = 9.2, 19.6, 62.4 and 200 GeV with results from various models in heavy-ion collisions like UrQMD, AMPT, and HIJING. We observe that the average <v2> from the transport model UrQMD agrees well with the measurements at \surd sNN = 9.2 GeV but increasingly falls short of the experimental <v2> values as the beam energy increases. The difference in <v2> being of the order of 60% at \surd sNN = 200 GeV. The <v2> results from HIJING is consistent with zero, while t…
Longitudinal scaling of pseudorapidity distribution of charged particles ($dN_{\mathrm {ch}}/dη$) is observed when presented as a function of pseudorapidity ($η$) shifted by the beam rapidity ($η$ - $y_{\mathrm {beam}}$) for a wide range of collision systems ($e^{+}+e^{-}$, p+p, $d$+A and A+A) and beam energies. Such a scaling is also observed for the elliptic flow ($v_{2}$) of charged hadrons in A+A collisions. This is a striking observation, as $v_{2}$ is expected to be sensitive to the initial conditions, the expansion dynamics and the degrees of freedom of the system, all of which potentia…
Two-particle transverse momentum correlation functions are a powerful technique for understanding the dynamics of relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Among these, the transverse momentum correlator $G_{2}\left(Δη,Δφ\right)$ is of particular interest for its potential sensitivity to the shear viscosity per unit of entropy density $η/s$ of the quark-gluon plasma formed in heavy-ion collisions. We use the UrQMD, AMPT, and EPOS models for Au--Au at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 200~GeV and Pb--Pb at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 2760~GeV to investigate the long range azimuthal dependence of $G_{2}\left(Δη,Δφ\right…
We report STAR measurements of mid-rapidity yields for the $Λ$, $\barΛ$, $K^{0}_{S}$, $Ξ^{-}$, $\barΞ^{+}$, $Ω^{-}$, and $\barΩ^{+}$ particles in Cu+Cu and Au+Au $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200$ GeV collisions. We show that at a given number of participating nucleons, bulk strangeness production is higher in Cu+Cu collisions compared to Au+Au collisions at the same center of mass energy, counter to predictions from the Canonical formalism. We compare both the Cu+Cu and Au+Au yields to AMPT and EPOS predictions, and find they reproduce key qualitative aspects of the data. Finally, we investigate other sca…
We report on measurements of identified particle yields from Au-Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 62.4$ GeV made with the BRAHMS spectrometer. Here we will concentrate on the charged $K/π$ ratios as function of rapidity and baryo-chemical potential. We find that the $K/π$ ratios measured at different rapidities in the analysed dataset have a common dependence with the same ratios measured in mid-rapidity at SPS energies when plotted as function of the $\bar{p}/p$ ratio. The theoretical models used for comparison, UrQMD and AMPT, give a reasonable description of the particle yields at mid-rapid…
STAR's measurements of directed flow ($v_1$) for pions, kaons (charged and $K_s^0$), protons and antiprotons for Au + Au collisions at $\sqrtsNN = 200$ GeV are presented. Negative $v_1(y)$ slope is observed for pions, antiprotons, protons and kaons. The proton $v_1(y)$ slope at midrapidity is found extremely small. Sizable difference is seen between $v_1$ of protons and anti-protons in 5-30% central collisions. Anti-flow can explain the negative slope, however, it has difficulties explaining the centrality dependence of the difference between the $v_1(y)$ slopes of protons and anti-protons. Th…
The goal of the Multi-Purpose Detector (MPD) experiment at NICA collider is to explore the QCD phase diagram of strongly interacting matter produced in nucleus-nucleus collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=4-11$ GeV. The performance of MPD detector for elliptic flow measurements of charged hadrons is studied with Monte-Carlo simulations using collisions of Au+Au ions employing UrQMD, SMASH, and AMPT heavy-ion event generators. Different methods for flow measurements: event plane and direct cumulants are used to investigate the contribution of non-flow correlations and flow fluctuations.
The elliptic, triangular, quadrangular and pentagonal anisotropic flow coefficients for $π^{\pm}$, $\mathrm{K}^{\pm}$ and p+$\overline{\mathrm{p}}$ in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} = 2.76$ TeV were measured with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The results were obtained with the Scalar Product method, correlating the identified hadrons with reference particles from a different pseudorapidity region. Effects not related to the common event symmetry planes (non-flow) were estimated using correlations in pp collisions and were subtracted from the measurement. The obtai…
STAR's measurements of directed flow ($v_1$) around midrapidity for $π^{\pm}$, K$^{\pm}$, K$_S^0$, $p$ and $\bar{p}$ in Au + Au collisions at $\sqrtsNN = 200$ GeV are presented. A negative $v_1(y)$ slope is observed for most of produced particles ($π^{\pm}$, K$^{\pm}$, K$_{S}^{0}$ and $\bar{p}$). In 5-30% central collisions a sizable difference is present between the $v_1(y)$ slope of protons and antiprotons, with the former being consistent with zero within errors. The $v_1$ excitation function is presented. Comparisons to model calculations (RQMD, UrQMD, AMPT, QGSM with parton recombination,…
Results from electric charge correlations studied with the Balance Function method in A+A collisions from 20\emph{A} to 158\emph{A} GeV are presented in two different rapidity intervals: In the mid-rapidity region we observe a decrease of the width of the Balance Function distribution with increasing centrality of the collision, whereas this effect vanishes in the forward rapidity region. Results from the energy dependence study in central Pb+Pb collisions show that the narrowing of the Balance Function expressed by the normalised width parameter \textit{W} increases with energy towards the hi…
Spectra of identified charged hadrons are measured in pPb collisions with the CMS detector at the LHC at sqrt(sNN) = 5.02 TeV. Charged pions, kaons, and protons in the transverse-momentum range pt approximately 0.1-1.7 GeV and laboratory rapidity abs(y) < 1 are identified via their energy loss in the silicon tracker. The average pt increases with particle mass and the charged multiplicity of the event. The increase of the average pt with charged multiplicity is greater for heavier hadrons. Comparisons to Monte Carlo event generators reveal that EPOS LHC, which incorporates additional hydrodyna…
We present the first estimates of isothermal compressibility (\kT) of hadronic matter formed in relativistic nuclear collisions ($\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}} = 7.7$ GeV to 2.76~TeV) using experimentally observed quantities. \kT~is related to the fluctuation in particle multiplicity, temperature, and volume of the system formed in the collisions. Multiplicity fluctuations are obtained from the event-by-event distributions of charged particle multiplicities in narrow centrality bins. The dynamical components of the fluctuations are extracted by removing the contributions to the fluctuations from the numbe…
In the frame work of a nuclear overlap model, we estimate the number of nucleon and quark participants in proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions. We observe the number of nucleon ($N_{N-part}$)-normalized enhancement of multi-strange particles which show a monotonic increase with centrality, turns out to be a centrality independent scaling behavior when normalized to number of constituent quarks participating in the collision ($N_{q-part}$). In addition, we observe that the $N_{q-part}$-normalized enhancement, when further normalized to the strangeness content, shows a st…
We present the first measurement of event-by-event fluctuations in the kaon sector in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt {s_{\rm NN}}=$ 2.76 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The robust fluctuation correlator $ν_{\rm dyn}$ is used to evaluate the magnitude of fluctuations of the relative yields of neutral and charged kaons, as well as the relative yields of charged kaons, as a function of collision centrality and selected kinematic ranges. While the correlator $ν_{\rm dyn}[\rm K^+,\rm K^-]$ exhibits a scaling approximately in inverse proportion of the charged particle multiplicity, $ν_{\rm dyn}[…
The measurements of the (anti)deuterons elliptic flow ($v_2$) and the first measurements of triangular flow ($v_3$) in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon-nucleon collisions $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}$ = 5.02 TeV are presented. A mass ordering at low transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) is observed when comparing these measurements with those of other identified hadrons, as expected from relativistic hydrodynamics. The measured (anti)deuterons $v_2$ lies between the predictions from the simple coalescence and blast-wave models, which provide a good description of the data only fo…

A systematic study is presented for centrality, transverse momentum ($p_T$) and pseudorapidity ($η$) dependence of the inclusive charged hadron elliptic flow ($v_2$) at midrapidity($|η| < 1.0$) in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 7.7, 11.5, 19.6, 27 and 39 GeV. The results obtained with different methods, including correlations with the event plane reconstructed in a region separated by a large pseudorapidity gap and 4-particle cumulants ($v_2{4}$), are presented in order to investigate non-flow correlations and $v_2$ fluctuations. We observe that the difference between $v_2{2}$ and $v_2{…
Results from the NA49 experiment at the CERN SPS are presented on event-by-event transverse momentum and multiplicity fluctuations of charged particles, produced at forward rapidities in central Pb+Pb interactions at beam momenta 20$A$, 30$A$, 40$A$, 80$A$, and 158$A$ GeV/c, as well as in systems of different size ($p+p$, C+C, Si+Si, and Pb+Pb) at 158$A$ GeV/c. This publication extends the previous NA49 measurements of the strongly intensive measure $Φ_{p_T}$ by a study of the recently proposed strongly intensive measures of fluctuations $Δ[P_T, N]$ and $Σ[P_T, N]$. In the explored kinematic r…
Results on two-particle $ΔηΔϕ$ correlations in inelastic p+p interactions at 20, 31, 40, 80, and 158~GeV/c are presented. The measurements were performed using the large acceptance NA61/SHINE hadron spectrometer at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. The data show structures which can be attributed mainly to effects of resonance decays, momentum conservation, and quantum statistics. The results are compared with the EPOS and UrQMD models.
Inclusive production of $Λ$-hyperons was measured with the large acceptance NA61/SHINE spectrometer at the CERN SPS in inelastic p+p interactions at beam momentum of 158~\GeVc. Spectra of transverse momentum and transverse mass as well as distributions of rapidity and x$_{_F}$ are presented. The mean multiplicity was estimated to be $0.120\,\pm0.006\;(stat.)\,\pm 0.010\;(sys.)$. The results are compared with previous measurements and predictions of the EPOS, UrQMD and FRITIOF models.
The production of $K^{0}_{S}$ mesons in inelastic $\textit{p+p}$ collisions at beam momentum 158 GeV/c ($\sqrt{s_{NN}}=17.3$ GeV) was measured with the NA61/SHINE spectrometer at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron. Double-differential distributions were obtained in transverse momentum and rapidity. The mean multiplicity of $K^{0}_{S}$ was determined to be $0.162 \pm 0.001 (stat.) \pm 0.011 (sys.)$. The results on $K^{0}_{S}$ production are compared with model predictions (EPOS 1.99, SMASH 2.0, PHSD and UrQMD 3.4 models) as well as with published world data.
The global polarization of Λ hyperons along the total orbital angular momentum of a relativistic heavy-ion collision is presented based on the high statistics data samples collected in Au+Au collisions at \sqrt{s_{NN}} = 2.4 GeV and Ag+Ag at 2.55 GeV with the High-Acceptance Di-Electron Spectrometer (HADES) at GSI, Darmstadt. This is the first measurement below the strangeness production threshold in nucleon-nucleon collisions. Results are reported as a function of the collision centrality as well as a function of the hyperon transverse momentum (p_T) and rapidity (y_{CM}) for the range of cen…
Measurements of multiplicity and transverse momentum fluctuations of charged particles were performed in inelastic p+p interactions at 20, 31, 40, 80 and 158 GeV/c beam momentum. Results for the scaled variance of the multiplicity distribution and for three strongly intensive measures of multiplicity and transverse momentum fluctuations \$Δ[P_{T},N]\$, \$Σ[P_{T},N]\$ and \$Φ_{p_T}\$ are presented. For the first time the results on fluctuations are fully corrected for experimental biases. The results on multiplicity and transverse momentum fluctuations significantly deviate from expectations fo…
The NA61/SHINE experiment at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) studies the onset of deconfinement in hadron matter by a scan of particle production in collisions of nuclei with various sizes at a set of energies covering the SPS energy range. This paper presents results on inclusive double-differential spectra, transverse momentum and rapidity distributions and mean multiplicities of $π^\pm$, $K^\pm$, $p$ and $\bar{p}$ produced in the 20$\%$ most $central$ $^7$Be+$^9$Be collisions at beam momenta of 19$A$, 30$A$, 40$A$, 75$A$ and 150$A$ GeV/$c$. The energy dependence of the $K^\pm$/$π^\p…
A measurement of charged hadron pair correlations in two-dimensional $ΔηΔϕ$ space is presented. The analysis is based on total 30 million central Be+Be collisions observed in the NA61/SHINE detector at the CERN SPS for incident beam momenta of 19$A$, 30$A$, 40$A$, 75$A$, and 150$A$ GeV/$c$. Measurements were carried out for unlike-sign and like-sign charge hadron pairs independently. The $C(Δη,Δϕ)$ correlation functions were compared with results from a similar analysis on p+p interactions at similar beam momenta per nucleon. General trends of the back-to-back correlations are similar in centr…
The two-particle angular correlation functions, $R_2$, of pions, kaons, and protons in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$ 7.7, 11.5, 14.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4, and 200 GeV were measured by the STAR experiment at RHIC. These correlations were measured for both like-sign and unlike-sign charge combinations and versus the centrality. The correlations of pions and kaons show the expected near-side ({\it i.e.}, at small relative angles) peak resulting from short-range mechanisms. The amplitudes of these short-range correlations decrease with increasing beam energy. However, the proton correlation …
This paper reports results for directed flow $v_{1}$ and elliptic flow $v_{2}$ of charged particles in Cu+Cu collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=$ 22.4 GeV at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The measurements are for the 0-60% most central collisions, using charged particles observed in the STAR detector. Our measurements extend to 22.4 GeV Cu+Cu collisions the prior observation that $v_1$ is independent of the system size at 62.4 and 200 GeV, and also extend the scaling of $v_1$ with $η/y_{\rm beam}$ to this system. The measured $v_2(p_T)$ in Cu+Cu collisions is similar for $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 22.4…
We report systematic measurements of bulk properties of the system created in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}$ = 14.5 GeV recorded by the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC).The transverse momentum spectra of $π^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm}$ and $p(\bar{p})$ are studied at mid-rapidity ($|y| < 0.1$) for nine centrality intervals. The centrality, transverse momentum ($p_T$),and pseudorapidity ($η$) dependence of inclusive charged particle elliptic flow ($v_2$), and rapidity-odd charged particles directed flow ($v_{1}$) results near mid-rapidity are also presented. These …
