In 1999, Fomin-Kirillov introduced the quadratic algebras $\mathcal{E}_m$ in terms of generators and relations which are the universal quadratic cover of the algebra generated by divided difference operators $\partial_{ij}$ acting on the polynomial ring $\mathbf{k}[x_1,\ldots,x_m]$. These algebras are mostly important due to their relations to Schubert calculus and geometry and to the general framework of quantum groups and Nichols algebras. Fomin and Kirillov asked about the dimension of $\mathcal{E}_m$. In this paper, we prove that $\mathcal{E}_m$ is infinite dimensional for all $m\geq 6$ which was a well-known conjecture. The techniques we use rely on braided differential calculus as developed by Liu and Bazlov as well as on the notion of integrals for Hopf algebras as introduced by Sweedler.
Higher Fomin-Kirillov algebras are infinite-dimensional

This note is an application of classification results for finite-dimensional Nichols algebras over groups. We apply these results to generalizations of Fomin--Kirillov algebras to complex reflection groups. First, we focus on the case of cyclic groups where the corresponding Nichols algebras are only finite-dimensional up to order four, and we include results about the existence of Weyl groupoids and finite-dimensional Nichols subalgebras for this class. Second, recent results by Heckenberger--Vendramin [ArXiv e-prints, 1412.0857 (December 2014)] on the classification of Nichols algebras of se…
The goal of this article is to explicitly compute the Hochschild (co)homology of the Fomin-Kirillov algebra on three generators over a field of characteristic different from 2 and 3. We also obtain the cyclic (co)homology of the Fomin-Kirillov algebra in case the characteristic of the field is zero. Moreover, we compute the algebra structure of the Hochschild cohomology.
This work is motivated to study the representation theory of the non-semisimple deformed Fomin-Kirillov algebras $\mathcal{D}_4(α_1, α_2)$. In particular, we consider Gabriel's theorem applications in regard of constructing algebraic presentations.
We study ring-theoretic and homological properties of the quadratic dual (or Koszul dual) $\mathcal{E}_n^!$ of the Fomin-Kirillov algebras $\mathcal{E}_n$; these algebras are connected $\mathbb{N}$-graded and are defined for $n \geq 2$. We establish that the algebra $\mathcal{E}_n^!$ is module-finite over its center (so, satisfies a polynomial identity), is Noetherian, and has Gelfand-Kirillov dimension $\lfloor n/2 \rfloor$ for each $n \geq 2$. We also observe that $\mathcal{E}_n^!$ is not prime for $n \geq 3$. By a result of Roos, $\mathcal{E}_n$ is not Koszul for $n \geq 3$, so neither is $…
The $12$-dimensional Fomin-Kirillov algebra $FK_3$ is defined as the quadratic algebra with generators $a$, $b$ and $c$ which satisfy the relations $a^2=b^2=c^2=0$ and $ab+bc+ca=0=ba+cb+ac$. By a result of A. Milinski and H.-J. Schneider, this algebra is isomorphic to the Nichols algebra associated to the Yetter-Drinfeld module $V$, over the symmetric group $\mathbb{S}_3$, corresponding to the conjugacy class of all transpositions and the sign representation. Exploiting this identification, we compute the cohomology ring $Ext_{FK_3}^*(\Bbbk,\Bbbk)$, showing that it is a polynomial ring $S[X]$ …
Let $\mathcal{D}$ be the Drinfeld double of $\mathcal{FK}_3\#\Bbbk{\mathbb S}_3$. The simple $\mathcal{D}$-modules were described in arXiv:1409.0438. In the present work, we describe the indecomposable summands of the tensor product between them. We classify the extensions of the simple modules and show that $\mathcal{D}$ is of wild representation type. We also investigate the projective modules and their tensor products.
The goal of this article is to compute the Gerstenhaber bracket of the Hochschild cohomology of the Fomin-Kirillov algebra on three generators over a field of characteristic different from $2$ and $3$. This is in part based on a general method we introduce to easily compute the Gerstenhaber bracket between elements of $\operatorname{HH}^{0}(A)$ and elements of $\operatorname{HH}^{n}(A)$ for $n \in \mathbb{N}_{0}$, the method by M. Suárez-Álvarez to calculate the Gerstenhaber bracket between elements of $\operatorname{HH}^{1}(A)$ and elements of $\operatorname{HH}^{n}(A)$ for any $n \in \mathbb…
The Fomin-Kirillov algebra $\mathcal E_n$ is a noncommutative quadratic algebra with a generator for every edge of the complete graph on $n$ vertices. For any graph $G$ on $n$ vertices, we define $\mathcal E_G$ to be the subalgebra of $\mathcal E_n$ generated by the edges of $G$. We show that these algebras have many parallels with Coxeter groups and their nil-Coxeter algebras: for instance, $\mathcal E_G$ is a free $\mathcal E_H$-module for any $H\subseteq G$, and if $\mathcal E_G$ is finite-dimensional, then its Hilbert series has symmetric coefficients. We determine explicit monomial bases …
We show that except in several cases conjugacy classes of classical Weyl groups $W(B_n)$ and $W(D_n)$ are of type {\rm D}. We prove that except in three cases Nichols algebras of irreducible Yetter-Drinfeld ({\rm YD} in short )modules over the classical Weyl groups are infinite dimensional. We establish the relationship between Fomin-Kirillov algebra $\mathcal E_n$ and Nichols algebra $\mathfrak{B} ({\mathcal O}_{(1, 2)} , ε\otimes {\rm sgn})$ of transposition over symmetry group by means of quiver Hopf algebras. We generalize {\rm FK } algebra. The characteristic of finiteness of Nichols alge…
We discuss a class of generalized divided difference operators which give rise to a representation of Nichols-Woronowicz algebras associated to Weyl groups. For the root system of type $A,$ we also study the condition for the deformations of the Fomin-Kirillov quadratic algebra, which is a quadratic lift of the Nichols-Woronowicz algebra, to admit a representation given by generalized divided difference operators. The relations satisfied by the mutually commuting elements called Dunkl elements in the deformed Fomin-Kirillov algebra are determined. The Dunkl elements correspond to the truncated…
We classify all noetherian Hopf algebras $H$ over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic zero which are integral domains of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension two and satisfy the condition $\Ext^1_H(k,k)\neq 0$. The latter condition is conjecturally redundant, as no examples are known (among noetherian Hopf algebra domains of GK-dimension two) where it fails.
In this note, we compute the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of cosemisimple Hopf algebras that arise as deformations of a linearly reductive algebraic group. Our work lies in a purely algebraic setting and generalizes results of Goodearl-Zhang (2007), of Banica-Vergnioux (2009), and of D'Andrea-Pinzari-Rossi (2017).
We classify infinite-dimensional decomposable braided vector spaces arising from abelian groups whose components are either points or blocks such that the corresponding Nichols algebras have finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension. In particular we exhibit examples with $\operatorname{GKdim} = n$ for any natural number $n$.
It was conjectured in \texttt{\small arXiv:1606.02521} that a Nichols algebra of diagonal type with finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension has finite (generalized) root system. We prove the conjecture assuming that the rank is 2. We also show that a Nichols algebra of affine Cartan type has infinite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension.
We prove the Kirillov-Reshetikhin conjecture concerning certain finite dimensional representations of a quantum affine algebra $\Ua$ when $\hat\g$ is an untwisted affine Lie algebra of type $ADE$. We use $t$--analog of $q$--characters introduced by the author in an essential way.
We realise the cohomology ring of a flag manifold, more generally the coinvariant algebra of an arbitrary finite Coxeter group W, as a commutative subalgebra of a certain Nichols algebra in the Yetter-Drinfeld category over W. This gives a braided Hopf algebra version of the corresponding Schubert calculus. Our proof is based on methods of braided differential calculus rather than on working directly with the relations in the Nichols algebra, which are not known explicitly. We also discuss the relationship between Fomin-Kirillov quadratic algebras, Kirillov-Maeno bracket algebras and our const…
Between the braided vector spaces of diagonal type there exist some families whose associated Nichols algebras are infinite dimensional but with finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension, called one-parameter families. We show that every pre-Nichols algebra of finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of this kind with connected diagram is necessarily the corresponding Nichols algebra, up to few exceptions. For each one of these exceptions we present a proper pre-Nichols algebra by generators and relations, and prove that it is the corresponding eminent pre-Nichols algebra. This paper essentially ends the det…
We study algebraic and homological properties of two classes of infinite dimensional Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic zero. The first class consists of those Hopf k-algebras that are connected graded as algebras, and the second class are those Hopf k-algebras that are connected as coalgebras. For many but not all of the results presented here, the Hopf algebras are assumed to have finite Gel'fand-Kirillov dimension. It is shown that if the Hopf algebra H is a connected graded algebra of finite Gel'fand-Kirillov dimension n, then H is a noetherian domain whic…
Assuming the existence of the perfect crystal bases of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules over simply-laced quantum affine algebras, we construct certain perfect crystals for twisted quantum affine algebras, and also provide compelling evidence that the constructed crystals are isomorphic to the conjectural crystal bases of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules over twisted quantum affine algebras.
The quadratic Poisson Gel'fand-Kirillov problem asks whether the field of fractions of a Poisson algebra is Poisson birationally equivalent to a Poisson affine space, i.e. to a polynomial algebra $\K[X_1,..., X_n]$ with Poisson bracket defined by $\{X_i,X_j\}=λ_{ij} X_iX_j$ for some skew-symmetric matrix $(λ_{ij}) \in M_n(\K)$. This problem was studied in \cite{GL} over a field of characteristic 0 by using a Poisson version of the deleting-derivations algorithm of Cauchon. In this paper, we study the quadratic Poisson Gel'fand-Kirillov problem over a field of arbitrary characteristic. In parti…
The structure of Poisson polynomial algebras of the type obtained as semiclassical limits of quantized coordinate rings is investigated. Sufficient conditions for a rational Poisson action of a torus on such an algebra to leave only finitely many Poisson prime ideals invariant are obtained. Combined with previous work of the first-named author, this establishes the Poisson Dixmier-Moeglin equivalence for large classes of Poisson polynomial rings, such as semiclassical limits of quantum matrices, quantum symplectic and euclidean spaces, quantum symmetric and antisymmetric matrices. For a simila…
Let $G_q$ be the $q$-deformation of a simply connected simple compact Lie group $G$ of type $A$, $C$ or $D$ and $\mathcal{O}_q(G)$ be the algebra of regular functions on $G_q$. In this article, we prove that the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of $\mathcal{O}_q(G)$ is equal to the dimension of real manifold $G$.

The normalized characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules over a quantum affine algebra have a limit as a formal power series. Mukhin and Young found a conjectural product formula for this limit, which resembles the Weyl denominator formula. We prove this formula except for some cases in type $E_8$ by employing an algebraic relation among these limits, which is a variant of $Q\widetilde{Q}$-relations.
We describe a cluster algebra algorithm for calculating q-characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules for any untwisted quantum affine algebra. This yields a geometric q-character formula for tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules. In simply laced type this formula extends Nakajima's formula for q-characters of standard modules in terms of homology of graded quiver varieties.
Tauvel's height formula, which provides a link between the height of a prime ideal and the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of the corresponding factor algebra, is verified for quantum nilpotent algebras.
Let $\mf g$ be the Witt algebra or the positive Witt algebra. It is well known that the enveloping algebra $U(\mf g )$ has intermediate growth and thus infinite Gelfand-Kirillov (GK-) dimension. We prove that the GK-dimension of $U(\mf g)$ is {\em just infinite} in the sense that any proper quotient of $U(\mf g)$ has polynomial growth. This proves a conjecture of Petukhov and the second named author for the positive Witt algebra. We also establish the corresponding results for quotients of the symmetric algebra $S(\mf g)$ by proper Poisson ideals. In fact, we prove more generally that any cent…
We define a family of graded restricted modules for the polynomial current algebra associated to a simple Lie algebra. We study the graded character of these modules and show that they are the same as the graded characters of certain Demazure modules. In particular, we see that the specialized characters are the same as those of the Kirillov Reshetikhin modules for quantum affine algebras.
Yetter--Drinfel'd modules of diagonal type admit an equivalence relation which conjecturally preserves dimension and Gel'fand--Kirillov dimension of the corresponding Nichols algebras. This relation is determined explicitly for all rank 2 Yetter--Drinfeld modules where the Gel'fand--Kirillov dimension is known to be finite. Key Words: Brandt groupoid, Hopf algebra, pseudo-reflections, Weyl group
The fermionic formula conjectured by Kirillov and Reshetikhin describes the decomposition (as a module for $U_q(\frak g)$) of a tensor product of multiples of of fundamental representations $W(mλ_i)$ of the corresponding quantum affine algebras. In this paper, we show that the conjecture is true for the modules W(mλ_i), if $i$ is such that the corresponding simple root occurs in the highest root of the simple Lie algebra with multiplicity at most 2. In particular, the conjecture is established for all but a few nodes for the exceptional algebras.
Let $\mathcal{O}_q(G)$ be the quantized algebra of regular functions on a semisimple simply connected compact Lie group $G$. Simple unitarizable left $\mathcal{O}_q(G)$-module are classified. In this article, we compute their Gelfand-Kirillov dimension where $G$ is of the type $A$, $C$ and $D$.
A technique is developed to reduce the investigation of Nichols algebras of integrable U_q(g)-modules to the investigation of Nichols algebras of braided vector spaces with diagonal braiding. The results are applied to obtain information on the Gelfan'd-Kirillov dimension of these Nichols algebras and their defining relations if the braiding is of a special type and q is not a root of unity. For simple g the cases of finite Gelfand-Kirillov dimension are determined completely.
This paper provides a brief review of the relations between the Feigin-Loktev conjecture on the dimension of graded tensor products of $\g[t]$-modules, the Kirillov-Reshetikhin conjecture, the combinatorial ``M=N" conjecture, their proofs for all simple Lie algebras, and a pentagon of identities which results from the proof.
We define and study the Kirillov--Reshetikhin modules for algebras of type $G_2$. We compute the graded character of these modules and verify that they are in accordance with the conjectures in math.QA/981202 and math.QA/0102113. These results give the first complete description of families of Kirillov--Reshetikhin modules whose isotypical components have multiplicity bigger than one.
Nakajima introduced a $t$-deformation of $q$-characters, $(q,t)$-characters for short, and their twisted multiplication through the geometry of quiver varieties. The Nakajima $(q,t)$-characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules satisfy a $t$-deformed $T$-system. The $T$-system is a discrete dynamical system that can be interpreted as a mutation relation in a cluster algebra in two different ways, depending on the choice of direction of evolution. In this paper, we show that the Nakajima $t$-deformed $T$-system of type $A_r$ forms a quantum mutation relation in a quantization of exactly one of th…
Let $\mathfrak g$ be an affine Lie algebra with index set $I = \{0, 1, 2, \cdots , n\}$ and ${\mathfrak g}^L$ be its Langlands dual. It is conjectured by Kashiwara et al.([16]) that for each $k \in I \setminus \{0\}$ the affine Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$ has a positive geometric crystal whose ultra-discretization is isomorphic to the limit of certain coherent family of perfect crystals for ${\mathfrak g}^L$. Motivated by this conjecture we construct a positive geometric crystal for the affine Lie algebra ${\mathfrak g}= A^{(1)}_n$ for each Dynkin index $k\in I\setminus\{0\}$ and show that its u…
We propose the following receipt to obtain the quantization of the Poisson submanifold $N$ defined by the equations $f_i=0$ (where $f_i$ are Casimirs) from the known quantization of the manifold $M$: one should consider factor algebra of the quantized functions on $M$ by the images of $D(f_i)$, where $D: Fun(M) \to Fun(M)\otimes \CC[\hbar]$ is Duflo-Kirillov-Kontsevich map. We conjecture that this algebra is isomorphic to quantization of $Fun(N)$ with Poisson structure inherited from $M$. Analogous conjecture concerning the Hamiltonian reduction saying that "deformation quantization commutes w…
Cluster algebras were introduced by S. Fomin and A. Zelevinsky in math.RT/0104151; their study continued in math.RA/0208229, math.RT/0305434. This is a family of commutative rings designed to serve as an algebraic framework for the theory of total positivity and canonical bases in semisimple groups and their quantum analogs. In this paper we introduce and study quantum deformations of cluster algebras.
