A method to determine the kinetic freeze-out temperature in heavy-ion collisions from measured yields of short-lived resonances is presented. The resonance production is treated in the framework of thermal model with an evolution between chemical and kinetic freeze-outs. The yields of many short-lived resonances are suppressed at $T = T_{\rm kin} < T_{\rm ch}$. We determine the values of $T_{\rm kin}$ and $T_{\rm ch}$ for various centralities in Pb--Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 2.76$ TeV by fitting the abundances of both the stable hadrons and the short-lived resonances such as $ρ^0$ and $ \text{K}^{*0}$, that were measured by the ALICE collaboration. This allows to extract the kinetic freeze-out temperature from the measured hadron and resonance yields alone, independent of assumptions about the flow velocity profile and the freeze-out hypersurface. The extracted $T_{\rm ch}$ values exhibit a moderate multiplicity dependence whereas $T_{\rm kin}$ drops, from $T_{\rm kin} \simeq T_{\rm ch} \simeq 155$ MeV in peripheral collisions to $T_{\rm kin} \simeq 110$ MeV in 0-20% central collisions. Predictions for other short-lived resonances are presented. A potential (non-)observation of a suppressed $f_0(980)$ meson yield will allow to constrain the lifetime of that meson.
In the framework of seesaw neutrino masses from heavy fermion triplets $(Σ^+,Σ^0,Σ^-)$, the addition of a light fermion singlet $N$ and a heavy scalar triplet $(ρ^+,ρ^0,ρ^-)$ has some important consequences. The new particles are assumed to be odd under a new $Z_2$ symmetry which is only broken softly, both explicitly and spontaneously. With $N-Σ^0$ mixing, freeze-in long-lived dark matter through Higgs decay becomes possible. At the same time, the $W$ mass is shifted slightly upward, as suggested by a recent precision measurement.
Collider searches for long-lived particles yield a promising avenue to probe the freeze-in production of Dark Matter via the decay of a parent particle. We analyze the prospects of probing the parameter space of Dark Matter freeze-in from the decay of neutral parent particles at the LHC and beyond, taking as a case study a freeze-in Dark Matter scenario via the Standard Model Higgs. We obtain the projected sensitivity of the proposed MATHUSLA surface detector (for MATHUSLA100 and MATHUSLA200 configurations) for long-lived particle searches to the freeze-in Dark Matter parameter space, and stud…

The obtained results from the standard distribution give an approximate agreement with the measured experimental data by the STAR, PHENIX and ALICE Collaborations. The methodical behavior of the effective (k…
We present a novel framework capable of addressing the dark matter problem through freeze-in and freeze-out mechanisms, separately or together, depending on the region of the parameter space considered. In the dark matter dynamics, the model features an interplay of thermal production along with sizeable contribution through feeble decay of associated dark fermionic partner, which finally freezes out to the right relic density for a wide range of masses and couplings. Apart from the fermionic dark matter candidate, the model introduces two charged partners, one fermionic and another scalar, wh…

Using the UrQMD/coarse graining approach we explore the kinetic freeze-out stage in central Au + Au collisions at various energies. These studies allow us to obtain detailed information on the thermodynamic properties (e.g. temperature and chemical potential) of the system during the kinetic decoupling stage. We explore five relevant collision energies in detail, ranging from $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=2.4\,\mathrm{GeV}$ (GSI-SIS) to $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200\,\mathrm{GeV}$ (RHIC). By adopting a standard Hadron Resonance Gas equation of state, we determine the average temperature $\langle T \rangle$ and the aver…
A significant fraction of the changes in momentum distributions induced by dissipative phenomena in the description of the fluid fireball created in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions actually take place when the fluid turns into individual particles. We study these corrections in the limit of a low freeze-out temperature of the flowing medium, and we show that they mostly affect particles with a higher velocity than the fluid. For these, we derive relations between different flow harmonics, from which the functional form of the dissipative corrections could ultimately be reconstructed fro…

We perceived that the effective temperature, initial temperature and kinetic freeze-out temperature sharply increases from 7.7 GeV to 14.5 GeV and then remain static from 14.5-39 GeV, …
Dissipative relativistic fluid-dynamical descriptions of the extended fireball formed in high-energy heavy-ion collisions are quite successful, yet require a prescription for converting the fluid into particles. We present arguments in favour of using a locally anisotropic momentum distribution for the particles emitted from the fluid, so as to smooth out discontinuities introduced by the usual conversion prescriptions. Building on this ansatz, we investigate the effect of the asymmetry on several observables of heavy ion physics.
Transverse momentum spectra of different particles produced in mid-rapidity interval in lead-lead (Pb-Pb) collisions with different centrality intervals, measured by the ALICE Collaboration at center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=2.76$ TeV, are conformably and approximately described by the Tsallis distribution. The dependences of parameters (effective temperature, entropy index, and normalization factor) on event centrality and particle rest mass are obtained. The source temperature at the kinetic freeze-out is obtained to be the intercept in the linear relation between effec…
We fit the single-particle $p_t$ spectra of identified pions, kaons, and (anti)protons from central collisions of gold or lead nuclei at energies between 7.7 and 2760~GeV per nucleon pair. Blast wave model with included resonance production and with an assumption of partial chemical equilibrium is used and the fits are performed with the help of a Gaussian emulator process. A kinetic freeze-out temperature is found about 100~MeV for the lowest collision energies and 80~MeV at the LHC. The average transverse expansion velocity grows with increasing $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ from 0.45 to 0.65. Due to part…
The problem of spectra formation in hydrodynamic approach to A+A collisions is considered within the Boltzmann equations. It is shown analytically and illustrated by numerical calculations that the particle momentum spectra can be presented in the Cooper-Frye form despite freeze-out is not sharp and has the finite temporal width. The latter is equal to the inverse of the particle collision rate at points $(t_σ({\bf r},p),{\bf r})$ of the maximal emission at a fixed momentum $p$. The set of these points forms the hypersurfaces $t_σ({\bf r},p)$ which strongly depend on the values of $p$ and typi…
We used blast wave model with Tsallis statistics to analyze the experimental data measured by ALICE Collaboration in proton-proton collisions at Large Hadron Collider and extracted the related parameters (kinetic freeze-out temperature, transverse flow velocity and kinetic freeze-out volume of emission source) from transverse momentum spectra of the particles. We found that the kinetic freeze-out temperature and kinetic freeze-out volume are mass dependent. The former increase while the latter decrease with the particle mass which is the evidence of a mass as well as volume differential kineti…

The model result are in agreement with the experimental data measured by the STAR Collaboration at the RHIC-BES energies. We observe that the kinetic freeze-out temperature, transverse flow velocity, mean transverse momentum, and initial temperature increase with the collision energ…
In extended supersymmetric models with a hidden sector the lightest $R$-parity odd particle can reside in the hidden sector and act as dark matter. We consider the case when the hidden sector has ultraweak interactions with the visible sector. An interesting phenomenon arises if the LSP of the visible sector is charged in which case it will decay to the hidden sector dark matter. Due to the ultraweak interactions, the LSP of the visible sector will be long-lived decaying outside the detector after leaving a track inside. We investigate this possibility in the framework of a $U(1)_X$-extended M…

A new method for evaluating spectra and correlations in the hydrodynamic approach is proposed. It is based on an analysis of Boltzmann equations (BE) in terms of probabilities for constituent particles to escape from the interacting system. The conditions of applicability of Cooper-Frye freeze-out prescription are considered within the method. The results are illustrated with a non-relativistic exact solution of BE for expanding spherical fireball as well as with approximate solutions for ellipsoidally expanding ones.

The kinetic Freeze Out process of a pion gas through a finite layer with time-like normal is considered. The pion gas is described by a Boltzmann gas with elastic collisions among the pions. Within this model, the impact of the in-medium pion mass modification on the Freeze Out process is studied. A marginal change of the Freeze Out variables temperature and flow velocity and an insignificant modification of the frozen out particle distribution function has been found.

While the paradigm of a weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) has guided our search strategies for dark matter in the past decades, their null-results have stimulated growing interest in alternative explanations pointing towards non-standard signatures. In this article we discuss the phenomenology of dark matter models that predict long-lived particle at the LHC. We focus on models with a $Z_2$-odd dark sector where - in decreasing order of the dark matter coupling - a coannihilation, conversion-driven freeze-out or superWIMP/freeze-in scenario could be realized.
We study the mass dependent hierarchy of kinetic freeze-out parameters of hadrons in low energy heavy-ion collisions. For this purpose, the transverse momentum and rapidity spectra of the identified hadrons produced in central Pb+Pb collisions, available at SPS energies ranging from $\rm E_{Lab}=20A-158A $ GeV, are analyzed within a generalized non boost-invariant blast wave model. We consider separate simultaneous fits for light hadrons ($π^{-}$, $K^{\pm}$) and heavy strange hadrons ($Λ$, $\barΛ$, $ϕ$, $Ξ^{\pm}$, $Ω^{\pm}$), for which the transverse momentum spectra as well as rapidity spectr…
The kinetic freeze-out for the hydrodynamical description of relativistic heavy ion collisions is discussed using a background-fluctuation splitting of the hydrodynamical fields. For a single event, the particle spectrum, or its logarithm, can be written as the sum of background part that is symmetric with respect to azimuthal rotations and longitudinal boosts and a part containing the contribution of fluctuations or deviations from the background. Using a complete orthonormal basis to characterize the initial state allows one to write the double differential harmonic flow coefficients determi…
Clustering of the four-nucleon system at kinetic freezeout conditions is studied using path-integral Monte Carlo techniques. This method seeks to improve upon previous calculations which relied on approximate semiclassical methods or few-body quantum mechanics. Estimates are given for the decay probabilities of the 4N system into various light nuclei decay channels and the strength of spatial correlations is characterized. Additionally, a simple model is presented to describe the impact of this clustering on nucleon multiplicity distributions. The effects of a possible modification of the inte…
We investigated the strange hadrons transverse momentum ($p_T$) spectra in Au-Au collision at $\sqrt {s_{NN}}$ = 54.4 GeV in the framework of modified Hagedorn function with embedded flow. We extracted the kinetic freeze-out temperature $T_0$, transverse flow velocity $β_T$, kinetic freeze-out volume $V$, mean transverse momentum $<p_T>$, the entropy parameter $n$ and the multiplicity parameter $N_0$. We reported that all these parameters increase towards the central collisions. The larger kinetic freeze-out temperature , transverse flow velocity, kinetic freeze-out volume and the entropy para…
The thermodynamic parameters like energy density, pressure, entropy density, temperature and particle density are determined from the transverse momentum distributions of charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. The results show a clear increase with the centrality and the beam energy in all parameters. It is determined that in the final freeze-out stage the energy density reaches a value of about 0.039 GeV/fm$^3$ for the most central collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV. This is less than that at chemical freeze-out where the energy density is about 0.36 GeV/fm$^3$. This decrease…
The kinetic freeze-out temperatures, $T_0$, in nucleus-nucleus collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and Large Hadron Collider (LHC) energies are extracted by four methods: i) the Blast-Wave model with Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics (the BGBW model), ii) the Blast-Wave model with Tsallis statistics (the TBW model), iii) the Tsallis distribution with flow effect (the improved Tsallis distribution), and iv) the intercept in $T=T_0+am_0$ (the alternative method), where $m_0$ denotes the rest mass and $T$ denotes the effective temperature which can be obtained by different distribut…
An approach, based on Tsallis non-extensive statistics, has been employed, here, to analyse, systematically, the $p_T$-spectra of various identified secondary hadrons like pions, kaons, protons and antiprotons, produced in different central $Pb+Pb$ interactions at LHC energy 2.76 TeV in terms of multiplicity and temperature fluctuations. The results, thus obtained, have been utilized to understand the various stages of different types of hadron production during evolution of the fireball produced in such collisions.
The transverse momentum spectra of identified particles at midrapidity in Pb + Pb collisions at Root(sNN) = 2.76 TeV have been studied as a function of collision centrality by using a unified statistical thermal freeze-out model. The calculated results are found to be in good agreement with the experimental data measured by the ALICE experiment at LHC. The model calculations provide the thermal freeze-out conditions in terms of the temperature and collective flow parameters for different particle species. We observe a rise in the thermal freeze-out temperature but a mild decrease in the collec…

The bulk properties in terms of kinetic freeze-out temperature, transverse flow velocity and kinetic freeze-out volume are extracted from the model by the least square method. We observed that with increasing the rest mass of the particle, the kinetic freeze-out temperature becomes larger, while tr…
The transverse momentum spectra at RHIC and LHC for A+A and p+p collisions are studied with Tsallis distributions in different approaches i.e. with and without radial flow. The information on the freeze-out surface in terms of freeze-out volume, temperature, chemical potential and radial flow velocities for different particle species are obtained. These parameters are found to show a systematic behavior with mass dependence. It is observed that the heavier particles freeze-out early as compared to lighter particles and freeze-out surfaces are different for different particles, which is a direc…

The strong longitudinal expansion of the reaction zone formed in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is found to significantly reduce the spatially averaged pion phase-space density, compared to naive estimates based on thermal distributions. This has important implications for data interpretation and leads to larger values for the extracted pion chemical potential at kinetic freeze-out.
Comment on "Evaluation of kinetic freeze-out properties in different relativistic heavy-ion collision systems at \sqrtsNN = 200 GeV'' (Eur. Phys. J. Plus (2025) 140:179) https://doi.org/10.1140/epjp/s13360-025-06119-0
Based on simple scale arguments we argue that any thermalized fireball evolution scenario which is in agreement with the observed Hanbury-Brown Twiss (HBT) correlation radii at RHIC and reproduces the measured total multiplicity cannot reflect the distribution of matter at or close to a phase transition temperature of ~170 MeV and any scenario which assumes that HBT reflects these properties cannot be reached by a sensible choice of evolution parameters while agreeing with all correlation radii. We investigate this question in more detail using a parametrized version of the fireball evolution …

We develop a combined hydro-kinetic approach which incorporates a hydrodynamical expansion of the systems formed in \textit{A}+\textit{A} collisions and their dynamical decoupling described by escape probabilities. The method corresponds to a generalized relaxation time ($τ_{\text{rel}}$) approximation for the Boltzmann equation applied to inhomogeneous expanding systems; at small $τ_{\text{rel}}$ it also allows one to catch the viscous effects in hadronic component - hadron-resonance gas. We demonstrate how the approximation of sudden freeze-out can be obtained within this dynamical picture o…

We use a kinetic condition to predict the chemical freeze-out parameters for hadronic species produced in heavy ion collisions. The resulting freeze-out lines for different hadrons lie close to one another in the temperature and baryochemical potential plane, defining a universal, narrow region. The chemical freeze-out is driven by the localization of hadrons due to the chiral symmetry breaking and confining aspects of the QCD transition.
