We fit the single-particle $p_t$ spectra of identified pions, kaons, and (anti)protons from central collisions of gold or lead nuclei at energies between 7.7 and 2760~GeV per nucleon pair. Blast wave model with included resonance production and with an assumption of partial chemical equilibrium is used and the fits are performed with the help of a Gaussian emulator process. A kinetic freeze-out temperature is found about 100~MeV for the lowest collision energies and 80~MeV at the LHC. The average transverse expansion velocity grows with increasing $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ from 0.45 to 0.65. Due to partial chemical equilibrium, the influence of resonance decays on the shape of the $p_t$ spectra for $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ above 27~GeV is small.
In hydrodynamical modeling of ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions, the freeze-out is typically assumed to take place at a surface of constant temperature or energy density. A more physical approach is to assume that freeze-out takes place at a surface of constant Knudsen number. We evaluate the Knudsen number as a ratio of the expansion rate of the system to the pion scattering rate, and apply the constant Knudsen number freeze-out criterion to ideal hydrodynamical description of heavy-ion collisions at RHIC ($\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}=200$ GeV) and the LHC ($\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}=2760$ GeV) ener…
Clustering of the four-nucleon system at kinetic freezeout conditions is studied using path-integral Monte Carlo techniques. This method seeks to improve upon previous calculations which relied on approximate semiclassical methods or few-body quantum mechanics. Estimates are given for the decay probabilities of the 4N system into various light nuclei decay channels and the strength of spatial correlations is characterized. Additionally, a simple model is presented to describe the impact of this clustering on nucleon multiplicity distributions. The effects of a possible modification of the inte…
We investigate the kinetic freeze out scenario of a nucleon gas through a finite layer. The in-medium mass modification of nucleons and it's impact on the freeze out process is studied. A considerable modification of the thermodynamical parameters temperature, flow-velocity, energy density and particle density has been found in comparison with evaluations which use a constant vacuum nucleon mass.
We study the chemical conditions at freeze-out associated with the production of strange-particles in Si-Au collisions at 14.6 GeV A. We obtain freeze-out chemical potentials and temperature, and determine the entropy as well as the final particle abundance. We also consider in detail the alternative evolution scenarios involving the hadronic gas and the deconfined phase.
The present knowledge about hadrons produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions is compatible with chemical freeze-out happening when the energy density divided by the particle density reaches the value of 1 GeV. This observation is used to determine the energy dependence of the chemical freeze-out parameters T_{ch} and mu_B^{ch} for beam energies varying between 1 and 200 A.GeV. The consequences of this energy dependence are studied for various particle ratios. Predictions for particle ratios at beam energy 40 A.GeV are presented. The conditions for thermal freeze-out are also determined. T…
We study the effect of separate chemical and kinetic freeze-outs to the ideal hydrodynamical flow in Au+Au collisions at RHIC (sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV energy). Unlike in earlier studies we explore how these effects can be counteracted by changes in the initial state of the hydrodynamical evolution. We conclude that the reproduction of pion, proton and antiproton yields necessitates a chemical freeze-out temperature of T = 150 MeV instead of T = 160 - 170 MeV motivated by thermal models. Unlike previously reported, this lower temperature makes it possible to reproduce the p_T-spectra of hadrons if…
We revisit the problem of the production of light atomic nuclei in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. While their production systematics is well produced by hadro-chemical freezeout at temperatures near the QCD pseudo-critical temperature, their small binding energies of a few MeV per nucleon suggest that they cannot survive as bound states under these conditions. Here, we adopt the concept of effective chemical potentials in the hadronic evolution from chemical to thermal freezeout (at typically $T_{\rm fo}$$\simeq$100\,MeV), which, despite frequent elastic rescatterings in hadronic matt…
We study the transverse momentum spectra of light nuclei (deuteron, anti-deuteron and triton) produced in Gold-Gold (Au-Au) collisions in different centrality bins by the blast wave model with Tsallis statistics. The model results are in agreement with the experimental data measured by STAR Collaboration in special transverse momentum ranges. We extracted the kinetic freezeout temperature, transverse flow velocity and kinetic freezeout volume. It is observed that kinetic freezeout temperature and transverse flow velocity increases initially, and then saturates from 14.5-39 GeV, while the kinet…
We estimate chemical freeze-out parameters in HRG and EVHRG model by fitting the experimental information of net-proton and net-charge fluctuations measured in Au + Au collisions by the STAR collaboration at RHIC. We observe that chemical freeze-out parameters obtained from lower and higher order fluctuations are though almost same for $\sqrt{s_{NN}} > 27$ GeV, tend to deviate from each other at lower $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$. Moreover, these separations increase with decrease of $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ and for a fixed $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ increase towards central collisions. Furthermore, we observe an approximate …
We study the kinetic freeze out conditions of bulk hadrons in nuclear collisions. The transverse and longitudinal momentum spectra of the identified hadrons produced in central Au+Au and Pb+Pb collisions, in the beam energy range of $E_b = 2A - 158 A$ GeV are analysed for this purpose, within a generalised non boost-invariant blast wave model. The kinetic freeze out temperature is found to vary in the range of 55 - 90 MeV, whereas the average transverse velocity of collective expansion is found to be around $0.5c$ to $0.6c$. The mean longitudinal velocity of the fireball is seen to increase mo…
We argue on a continuous (dynamical) kinetic freeze-out of $K^\pm, ϕ$ observed at midrapidity in collisions Au(1.23 A GeV) + Au. The simulations by means of a transport model of BUU type point to time independent transverse momentum slope parameters after 20 fm/c. The complex interplay of expansion dynamics and strangeness production/exchange/absorption as well as elastic scatterings involved in the reaction network does not support the previous interpretation of a late freeze-out of $K^-$ due to larger cross sections.
We study the transverse momentum spectra of identified pions, Kaons, protons and Lambdas produced at midrapidity (0 < y < 0.5)in most central p-Pb collisions at root(sNN) = 5.02 TeV in comparison with a Unified Statistical Thermal Freeze-out Model (USTFM). The measurements of pions are reported upto pT = 3 GeV, the kaons (K- + K+) are reported upto pT = 2.5 GeV, K0s is reported upto pT = 7 GeV and the baryons (protons and Lambdas) are reported upto pT = 3.5 GeV. A good agreement is seen between the calculated results and the experimental data points taken from the ALICE experiment. The transve…
We analyze the transverse momentum ($p_T$) spectra, $1/N_{ev}$[(1/2$π$$p_T$) $d^2$$N$/$dyd$$p_T$], of kaon, proton, deuteron and triton in different centrality events in gold-gold (Au-Au) collisions at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions (RHIC) by Hagedorn thermal model and extracted the excitation function of effective temperature, kinetic freeze-out volume, initial temperature and kinetic freeze-out temperature. We perceived that the effective temperature, initial temperature and kinetic freeze-out temperature sharply increases from 7.7 GeV to 14.5 GeV and then remain static from 14.5-39 GeV, …
We present a fully relativistic and gauge invariant framework for calculating the cross sections of dilepton production in nucleon-nucleon (NN) collisions which is based on the meson-exchange approximation for the NN scattering amplitudes. Predictions of our model are compared with those of other covariant models that have been used to describe this reaction. We discuss the comparison of our calculations with the old DLS and the recent HADES data.
We analyzed the transverse momentum spectra of proton, deuteron and triton in Boron-Boron (B-B), Oxygen-Oxygen (O-O), and Calcium-Calcium (Ca-Ca) central collisions, as well as in several centrality bins in Gold-Gold (Au-Au) collisions at 39 GeV by using the blast wave model with Tsallis statistics. The bulk properties in terms of kinetic freeze-out temperature, transverse flow velocity and kinetic freeze-out volume are extracted from the model by the least square method. We observed that with increasing the rest mass of the particle, the kinetic freeze-out temperature becomes larger, while tr…
We introduce a novel approach based on elastic and inelastic scattering rates to extract the hyper-surface of the chemical freeze-out from a hadronic transport model in the energy range from E$_\mathrm{lab}=1.23$ AGeV to $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}=62.4$ GeV. For this study, the Ultra-relativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics (UrQMD) model combined with a coarse-graining method is employed. The chemical freeze-out distribution is reconstructed from the pions through several decay and re-formation chains involving resonances and taking into account inelastic, pseudo-elastic and string excitation reacti…
We study the kinetic freeze-out conditions of hadrons in Au+Au collisions at 11.6 A GeV/c using different parametrizations of an expanding thermal fireball. We take into account the available double differential momentum spectra of a variety of particle species, covering a large fraction of the total momentum space. The overall fit to the data is very good and indicates a relatively low kinetic freeze-out temperature of about 90 MeV with an average transverse expansion velocity at midrapidity of about 0.5 c.
We consider a chemical freeze-out mechanism which is based on a strong medium dependence of the rates for inelastic flavor-equilibrating collisions based on the delocalization of hadronic wave functions and growing hadronic radii when approaching the chiral restoration. We investigate the role of mesonic (pion) and baryonic (nucleon) fluctuations for melting the chiral condensate in the phase diagram in the (T,mu)-plane. We apply the PNJL model beyond mean-field and present an effective generalization of the chiral perturbation theory result which accounts for the medium dependence of the pion…
In this paper we use methods developed in Part 1 of The Dipion Cocktail, to fit the $p_t$ dependence of dipions for mid-central Au-Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=200 GeV. For the minijet fragmentation part we use PYTHIA fragmentation as described in Part 1. For the thermal resonance production we use an exponential growth behavior. The interference between the direct production of dipion pairs from non-resonance minijet fragmentation and re-scattering through resonance states gives a measure of the size of the re-scattering region. This size is contain in the $α$ parameter of Part1. We assum…
Global evolution of the matter in relativistic collisions of heavy nuclei and the resulting global freeze-out parameters are analyzed in a wide range of incident energies 2.7 GeV $\le \sqrt{s_{NN}}\le$ 39 GeV. The analysis is performed within the three-fluid model employing three different equations of state (EoS): a purely hadronic EoS, an EoS with the first-order phase transition and that with a smooth crossover transition. Global freeze-out parameters deduced from experimental data within the statistical model are well reproduced within the crossover scenario. The 1st-order-transition scena…
Following the idea of nucleon clustering and light-nuclei production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions close to the QCD critical-end point, we address the quantum effects affecting the interaction of several nucleons at finite temperature. For this aim we use the $K$-harmonics method to four-nucleon states ($α$ particle), and also develop a novel semiclassical "flucton" method at finite temperature, based on certain classical paths in Euclidean time, and apply it to two- and four-particle configurations. To study possible effects on the light-nuclei production close to the QCD critical poin…
Transverse momentum spectra of negative and positive pions produced at mid-(pseudo)rapidity in inelastic or non-single-diffractive proton-proton collisions over a center-of-mass energy, $\sqrt{s}$, range from a few GeV to above 10 TeV are analyzed by the blast-wave fit with Boltzmann (Tsallis) distribution. The blast-wave fit results are well fitting to the experimental data measured by several collaborations. In a particular superposition with Hagedorn function, both the excitation functions of kinetic freeze-out temperature ($T_0$) of emission source and transverse flow velocity ($β_T$) of p…
The space-time structure of the multipion system created in central relativistic heavy-ion collisions is investigated. Using the microscopic transport model UrQMD we determine the freeze-out hypersurface from equation on pion density n(t,r)=n_c. It turns out that for proper value of the critical energy density ε_c equation ε(t,r)=ε_c gives the same freeze-out hypersurface. It is shown that for big enough collision energies E_kin > 40A GeV/c (sqrt(s) > 8A GeV/c) the multipion system at a time moment τ ceases to be one connected unit but splits up into two separate spatial parts (drops), which m…
We investigated the strange hadrons transverse momentum ($p_T$) spectra in Au-Au collision at $\sqrt {s_{NN}}$ = 54.4 GeV in the framework of modified Hagedorn function with embedded flow. We extracted the kinetic freeze-out temperature $T_0$, transverse flow velocity $β_T$, kinetic freeze-out volume $V$, mean transverse momentum $<p_T>$, the entropy parameter $n$ and the multiplicity parameter $N_0$. We reported that all these parameters increase towards the central collisions. The larger kinetic freeze-out temperature , transverse flow velocity, kinetic freeze-out volume and the entropy para…
We show that the simultaneous measurement of yields and fluctuations is capable of falsifying and constraining the statistical hadronization model. We show how such a measurement can test for chemical non-equilibrium, and distinguish between a high temperature chemically equilibrated freeze-out from a supercooled freeze-out with an over-saturated phase space. We perform a fit, and show that both yields and fluctuations measured at RHIC 200 GeV can be accounted for within the second scenario, with both the light and strange quark phase space saturated significantly above detailed balance. We po…
We discuss the production of light nuclei in heavy ion collisions within a multiple freezeout scenario. Thermal parameters extracted from the fits to the observed hadron yields are used to predict the multiplicities of light nuclei. Ratios of strange to non strange nuclei are found to be most sensitive to the details of the chemical freezeout. The well known disagreement between data of $^3_Λ\text{H/}^3\text{He}$ and $\overline{^3_Λ\text{H/}^3\text{He}}$ at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200$ GeV and models based on thermal as well as simple coalescence using a single chemical freezeout surface goes away when…
Measurements of three-dimensional correlation functions of like-sign low transverse momentum kaon pairs from Au+Au collisions at top RHIC energy $\sqrt s_{NN}$=200 GeV are presented. The extracted kaon source function is narrower than the pion one and does not have the long tail along the pair transverse momentum direction. This indicates a much smaller role of long-lived resonance decays and/or of the emission duration on kaon emission. Three-dimensional Gaussian shape of the kaon source function can be adequately reproduced by Therminator simulations with resonance contributions taken into a…
Background: Until now the knowledge about nucleon resonances with a mass higher than 2 GeV has been scarce. Huge amounts of experimental data of the multipion photoproduction have been accumulated, and more can be expected in the future in facilities such as JLab 12 GeV. It makes it possible to investigate the decay of a nucleon resonance into another nucleon resonance. Purpose: The possibility to research the decay of the $N(2120)$ to nucleon resonances near 1.7 GeV in the three-pion photoproduction will be explored to provide useful information for future experimental study. Method: The pion…
The recently discovered sharp peak in the excitation function of the K+/pi+ ratio around 30 A GeV in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is discussed in the framework of the Statistical Model. In this model, the freeze-out of an ideal hadron gas changes from a situation where baryons dominate to one with mainly mesons. This transition occurs at a temperature T = 140 MeV and baryon chemical potential mu(B) = 410 MeV corresponding to an energy of sqrt(s) = 8.2 GeV. The calculated maximum in the K+/pi+ ratio is, however, much less pronounced than the one observed by the NA49 Collaboration. The smoo…
The single-freeze-out model of hadron production is used to describe the particle ratios and the transverse-momentum spectra from RHIC. The emphasis is put on the new measurements done at the highest beam energy of 200 GeV. An overall very good agreement is found between the data and the model predictions. The data for different centrality windows are analyzed separately. A simple scaling of the two expansion parameters of the model with the centrality is found. Interestingly, this scaling turns out to be equivalent to the scaling of hadron production with the number of wounded nucleons.
We investigate the collision energy dependence of deuteron and antideuteron emission in the RHIC-BES low- to mid-energy range $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 4.6-200$ GeV where the formation rate of antinuclei compared to nuclei is strongly suppressed. In the coalescence picture, this can be understood as bulk emission for nuclei in contrast to surface emission for antinuclei. By comparison with experimental data on the coalescence parameter $B_2$, we are able to extract the respective source geometries. This interpretation is further supported by results from the UrQMD transport model, and establishes the f…
Using the UrQMD/coarse graining approach we explore the kinetic freeze-out stage in central Au + Au collisions at various energies. These studies allow us to obtain detailed information on the thermodynamic properties (e.g. temperature and chemical potential) of the system during the kinetic decoupling stage. We explore five relevant collision energies in detail, ranging from $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=2.4\,\mathrm{GeV}$ (GSI-SIS) to $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=200\,\mathrm{GeV}$ (RHIC). By adopting a standard Hadron Resonance Gas equation of state, we determine the average temperature $\langle T \rangle$ and the aver…
Motivated by the recent measurement of proton-proton spin-correlation parameters up to 2.5 GeV laboratory energy, we investigate models for nucleon-nucleon (NN) scattering above 1 GeV. Signatures for a gradual failure of the traditional meson model with increasing energy can be clearly identified. Since spin effects are large up to tens of GeV, perturbative QCD cannot be invoked to fix the problems. We discuss various theoretical scenarios and come to the conclusion that we do not have a clear phenomenological understanding of the spin-dependence of the NN interaction above 1 GeV.
We collected the transverse momentum (mass) spectra of charged hadrons ($π^{-}$, $π^{+}$, $K^{-}$, $K^{+}$, $\overline{p}$, and $p$) produced in collisions over a center-of-mass energy range from 2.70 to 200 GeV (per nucleon pair). The modified Tsallis--Pareto-type function (the TP-like function) with average transverse flow velocity is used to describe the contribution of participant or constituent quarks to transverse momentum of considered hadron. The experimental spectra of $π^{\mp}$ and $K^{\mp}$ (or $\overline{p}$ and $p$) are fitted by the convolution of two (or three) TP-like functions…
A comprehensive and detailed analysis of hadronic abundances measured in Au-Au collisions at RHIC at sqrt(s)_NN = 130 and 200 GeV is presented. The rapidity densities measured in the central rapidity region have been fitted to the statistical hadronization model and the chemical freeze-out parameters determined as a function of centrality, using data from experiments BRAHMS, PHENIX and STAR. The chemical freeze-out temperature turns out to be independent of centrality to a few percent accuracy, whereas the strangeness under-saturation parameter gamma_S decreases from almost unity in central co…
Comment on "Evaluation of kinetic freeze-out properties in different relativistic heavy-ion collision systems at \sqrtsNN = 200 GeV'' (Eur. Phys. J. Plus (2025) 140:179) https://doi.org/10.1140/epjp/s13360-025-06119-0
A new resonance structure at M = 355 \pm 6 \pm 9 MeV is observed in the invariant mass spectrum of two gamma-quanta produced in the reaction d + C => gamma + gamma + x at momentum 2.75 GeV/c per nucleon. Preliminary estimates of its width and cross section are Gamma = 41 \pm 12 MeV and sigma_{gamma-gamma} = 0.6 mkb. The collected statistics is 2680 \pm 310 events of 1.5 10^6 triggered interactions of a total number 3 10^{12} dC-interactions.
The thermodynamic parameters like energy density, pressure, entropy density, temperature and particle density are determined from the transverse momentum distributions of charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. The results show a clear increase with the centrality and the beam energy in all parameters. It is determined that in the final freeze-out stage the energy density reaches a value of about 0.039 GeV/fm$^3$ for the most central collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV. This is less than that at chemical freeze-out where the energy density is about 0.36 GeV/fm$^3$. This decrease…
A parameterization of the nucleon-nucleon elastic scattering amplitude is needed for future experiments with nucleon and nuclear beams in the beam momentum range of 2 -- 50 GeV/c/nucleon. There are many parameterizations of the amplitude at $P_{lab} >$ 25--50 GeV/c, and at $P_{lab} \leq$ 5 GeV/c. Our paper is aimed to cover the range between 5 -- 50 GeV/c. The amplitude is used in Glauber calculations of various cross sections and Monte Carlo simulations of nucleon-nucleon scatterings. Usually, the differential nucleon-nucleon elastic scattering cross sections are described by an exponential e…
By analyzing the calculated baryon number susceptibility ratios ${χ_{1}^{B}}/{χ_{2}^{B}}$ and ${χ_{3}^{B}}/{χ_{1}^{B}}$ in two-flavor system via the Dyson-Schwinger equation approach of QCD, we determine the chemical freeze-out temperature and baryon chemical potential in cases of both thermodynamic limit and finite size. We calculate the center-of-mass energy dependence of the ${χ_{4}^{B}}/{χ_{2}^{B}}\, (κσ^{2})$ at the freeze-out line and find an excellent agreement with experimental data in $\sqrt{S_{NN}^{}} \geq 19.6\,$GeV region when taking into account the finite size effect. Our calcula…
Producing kaon mesons in heavy-ion collisions at beam energies below their threshold energy is an important way to investigate the properties of dense nuclear matter. In this study, based on the newly updated version of the ultrarelativistic quantum molecular dynamics model, we introduce the kaon-nucleon (KN) potential, including both the scalar and vector (also dubbed Lorentz-like) aspects. We revisit the influence of the KN potential on the collective flow of K$^{+}$ mesons produced in Au+Au collisions at $E_{lab}$ = 1.5 GeV/nucleon and find that the contribution of the newly included Lorent…
A detailed discussion of recent results obtained within the hadron resonance gas model with the multi-component hard core repulsion is presented. Among them there are the adiabatic chemical freeze-out criterion, the concept of separate chemical freeze-out of strange particles and the effects of enhancement and sharpening of wide resonances and quark gluon bags occurring in a thermal medium. These findings are discussed in order to strengthen the planned heavy-ion collision experimental programs at low collision energies. We argue, that due to found effects, at the center of mass collision ener…
Combining the covariant coalescence model and a blast-wave-like analytical parametrization for (anti-)nucleon phase-space freezeout configuration, we explore light (anti-)nucleus production in central Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200$ GeV. Using the nucleon freezeout configuration (denoted by FO1) determined from the measured spectra of protons (p), deutrons (d) and $^{3}$He, we find the predicted yield of $^{4}$He is significantly smaller than the experimental data. We show this disagreement can be removed by using a nucleon freezeout configuration (denoted by FO2) in which the nucleo…
The transverse mass spectra of light mesons produced in Au-Au collisions at 200 GeV/nucleon are analyzed in Tsallis statistics. In high energy collisions, it has been found that the spectra follow a generalized scaling law. We applied Tsallis statistics to the description of different particles using the scaling properties. The calculated results are in agreement with experimental data of PHENIX Collaboration. And, the temperature of emission sources is extracted consistently.
An expanding fireball model with two freeze-outs, which assumes that the chemical freeze-out occurs earlier at higher temperature and the thermal freeze-out occurs later at lower temperature, is developed and successfully applied to fit simultaneously the hadron ratios, transverse momentum spectra of measured hadrons and rapidity distribution of charged hadrons measured in Au+Au collision at 200 A$\cdot$GeV by STAR, PHENIX and PHOBOS collaborations. The quality of all the fittings is very good and the resulting parameters are in agreement with published values.
Relative hadron abundances from high-energy heavy-ion collisions reveal substantial inhomogeneities of temperature and baryon-chemical potential within the decoupling volume. The freeze-out volume is not perfectly "stirred", i.e. the concentrations of pions, kaons, (anti-) nucleons etc are inhomogeneous. Such inhomogeneities in the late stages of the hydrodynamic expansion might be traces of a first-order phase transition.
The amplitudes for the pion-nucleon charge exchange reaction of the Karlsruhe-Helsinki and the George-Washington-University partial wave analyses are compared with those of a Regge-cut model with the aim to explore the possibility to provide high energy constraints for theoretical baryon resonance analyses in the energy region above 2 GeV.
The transverse momentum (mass) spectra of the multi-strange and non-multi-strange (i.e. other identified) particles in central gold-gold (Au-Au), lead-lead (Pb-Pb), argon-muriate (Ar-KCl) and nickel-nickel (Ni-Ni) collisions over a wide energy range have been studied in this work. The experimental data measured by various collaborations have been analyzed. The blast-wave fit with Tsallis statistics is used to extract the kinetic freeze-out temperature and transverse flow velocity from the experimental data of transverse momentum (mass) spectra. The extracted parameters increase with the increa…
We argue that the chemical freeze-out in heavy ion collisions at high baryon density is not associated to a phase transition or rapid crossover. We employ the linear nucleon-meson model with parameters fixed by the zero-temperature properties of nuclear matter close to the liquid-gas quantum phase transition. For the parameter region of interest this yields a reliable picture of the thermodynamic and chiral properties at non-zero temperature. The chemical freeze-out observed in low-energy experiments occurs when baryon densities fall below a critical value of about 15 percent of nuclear densit…
The excitation function of freeze-out time, average freeze-out temperature and freeze-out energy density of (multi-) strange baryons created in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is investigated in the framework of a microscopic transport model. We find that the Omega on average freezes out earlier than the nucleon, Xi and Lambda. The average freeze-out temperature and energy density as well as the spread between the different baryonicstates increase monotonously with increasing beam energy and should approach a universal value in the case of a hadronizing Quark-Gluon-Plasma.
We study the mass dependent hierarchy of kinetic freeze-out parameters of hadrons in low energy heavy-ion collisions. For this purpose, the transverse momentum and rapidity spectra of the identified hadrons produced in central Pb+Pb collisions, available at SPS energies ranging from $\rm E_{Lab}=20A-158A $ GeV, are analyzed within a generalized non boost-invariant blast wave model. We consider separate simultaneous fits for light hadrons ($π^{-}$, $K^{\pm}$) and heavy strange hadrons ($Λ$, $\barΛ$, $ϕ$, $Ξ^{\pm}$, $Ω^{\pm}$), for which the transverse momentum spectra as well as rapidity spectr…
We calculate ratios of higher-order susceptibilities quantifying fluctuations in the number of net protons and in the net-electric charge using the Hadron Resonance Gas (HRG) model. We take into account the effect of resonance decays, the kinematic acceptance cuts in rapidity, pseudo-rapidity and transverse momentum used in the experimental analysis, as well as a randomization of the isospin of nucleons in the hadronic phase. By comparing these results to the latest experimental data from the STAR collaboration, we determine the freeze-out conditions from net-electric charge and net-proton dis…
Fluctuations are included in a chiral nucleon-meson model within the framework of the functional renormalization group. The model, with parameters fitted to reproduce the nuclear liquid-gas phase transition, is used to study the phase diagram of QCD. We find good agreement with results from chiral effective field theory. Moreover, the results show a separation of the chemical freeze-out line and chiral symmetry restoration at large baryon chemical potentials.
We explore the abundance of light clusters in asymmetric nuclear matter at subsaturation density. With increasing density, binding energies and wave functions are modified due to medium effects. The method of Albergo, Costa, Costanzo and Rubbino (ACCR) for determining the temperature and free nucleon density of a disassembling hot nuclear source from fragment yields is modified to include, in addition to Coulomb effects and flow, also effects of medium modifications of cluster properties, which become of importance when the nuclear matter density is above 10$^{-3}$ fm$^{-3}$. We show how the a…
We investigate, in microcanonical multifragmentation models, the influence of the amount of energy dissipated in break-up fragments excitation on freeze-out volume determination. Assuming a limiting temperature decreasing with nuclear mass, we obtain for the Xe+Sn at 32 MeV/nucleon reaction [J. D. Frankland et al., Nucl. Phys. A689, 905 (2001); A689, 940 (2001)] a freeze-out volume almost half the one deduced using a constant limiting temperature.
We present calculations of the chemical freeze-out temperature (T_ch) based on particle yields from STAR and ALICE measured at collision energies ranging from sqrt{s_{NN}} = 11.5 GeV to 5.02 TeV. Employing the Grand Canonical Ensemble approach using the Thermal-FIST Hadron Resonance Gas model package, we show evidence for a flavour-dependent chemical freeze-out in the crossover region of the QCD phase diagram. At a vanishing baryochemical potential, we calculate light and strange flavour freeze-out temperatures T_L = 150.2 +- 2.6 MeV and T_S = 165.1 +- 2.7 MeV, respectively.
It is demonstrated that there exists a direct correlation between chemical freeze-out point and the softest point of the equation of state where the pressure divided by the energy density, $p(ε)/ε$, has a minimum. A dynamical model is given as an example where the passage of the softest point coincides with the condition for chemical freeze-out, namely an average energy per hadron $\approx$ 1 GeV. The sensitivity of the result to the equation of state used is discussed.
