Based on results of Harding, Heunen, Lindenhovius and Navara, (2019), we give a connection between the category of AW*-algebras and their normal Jordan homomorphisms and a category COG of orthogemetries, which are structures that are somewhat similar to projective geometries, consisting of a set of points and a set of lines, where each line contains exactly 3 points. They are constructed from the commutative AW*-subalgebras of an AW*-algebra that have at most an 8-element Boolean algebra of projections. Morphisms between orthogemetries are partial functions between their sets of points as in projective geometry. The functor from the category of AW*-algebras with normal Jordan homomorphism to COG we create is injective on non-trivial objects, and full and faithful with respect to morphisms that do not involve type $I_2$ factors.
We introduce and investigate new classes of Jordan algebras which are close to but wider than Rickart and Baer Jordan algebras considered in our previous paper. Such Jordan algebras are called RJ- and BJ-algebras respectively. Criterions are given for a Jordan algebra to be a BJ-algebra. Also, it is proved that every finite dimensional Jordan algebra without nilpotent elements, which have square roots, is a BJ-algebra.
We show that a Jordan algebra of compact quasinilpotent operators which contains a nonzero trace class operator has a common invariant subspace. As a consequence of this result, we obtain that a Jordan algebra of quasinilpotent Schatten operators is simultaneously triangularizable.
In this paper, we characterize Jordan derivable mappings in terms of Peirce decomposition and determine Jordan all-derivable points for some general bimodules. Then we generalize the results to the case of Jordan higher derivable mappings. An immediate application of our main results shows that for a nest $\mathcal{N}$ on a Banach $X$ with the associated nest algebra $alg\mathcal{N}$, if there exists a non-trivial element in $\mathcal{N}$ which is complemented in $X$, then every $C\in alg\mathcal{N}$ is a Jordan all-derivable point of $L(alg\mathcal{N}, B(X))$ and a Jordan higher all-derivable…
There are Jordan analogues of annihilators in Jordan algebras which are called Jordan annihilators. The present paper is devoted to investigation of those Jordan algebras every Jordan annihilator of which is generated by an idempotent as an inner ideal. We prove that a finite dimensional unital Jordan algebra satisfies this condition if and only if it has no nilpotent elements, and in this case it is a direct sum of simple Jordan algebras.
The paper contains results on the structure of Jordan maps and several kinds of triple maps on standard algebras of unbounded operators in Hilbert spaces. These results are unbounded counterparts to results on algebras of bounded operators obtained by Lu, Molnár and others ([3,4,6 -- 10]).
Let $\mathfrak{A}$ and $\mathfrak{A}'$ be two $C^*$-algebras with identities $I_{\mathfrak{A}}$ and $I_{\mathfrak{A}'}$, respectively, and $P_1$ and $P_2 = I_{\mathfrak{A}} - P_1$ nontrivial projections in $\mathfrak{A}$. In this paper we study the characterization of multiplicative $*$-Jordan-type maps. In particular, if $\mathcal{M}$ is a factor von Neumann algebra then every bijective unital multiplicative $*$-Jordan-type maps are $*$-ring isomorphisms.
In this paper, we investigate Jordan *-homomorphisms on $C^*$-algebras associated with the following functional inequality $\|f(\frac{b-a}{3})+f(\frac{a-3c}{3})+f(\frac{3a+3c-b}{3})\| \leq \|f(a)\|.$ We moreover prove the superstability and the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of Jordan *-homomorphisms on $C^*$-algebras associated with the following functional equation $$f(\frac{b-a}{3})+f(\frac{a-3c}{3})+f(\frac{3a+3c-b}{3})=f(a).$$
Let $\mathcal{A}$ be a $*$-algebra and $\mathcal{M}$ be a $*$-$\mathcal A$-bimodule, we study the local properties of $*$-derivations and $*$-Jordan derivations from $\mathcal{A}$ into $\mathcal{M}$ under the following orthogonality conditions on elements in $\mathcal A$: $ab^*=0$, $ab^*+b^*a=0$ and $ab^*=b^*a=0$. We characterize the mappings on zero product determined algebras and zero Jordan product determined algebras. Moreover, we give some applications on $C^*$-algebras, group algebra, matrix algebras, algebras of locally measurable operators and von Neumann algebras.
Jordan isomorphisms of rings are defined by two equations. The first one is the equation of additivity while the second one concerns multiplicativity with respect to the so-called Jordan product. In this paper we present results showing that on standard operator algebras over spaces with dimension at least 2, the bijective solutions of that second equation are automatically additive.
Let A and A' be two Cstar-algebras with identities I_A and I_A', respectively, and P_1 and P_2 = I_A - P_1 nontrivial projections in A. In this paper we study the characterization of multiplicative star-Lie-Jordan-type maps, where the notion of these maps arise here. In particular, if M_A is a von Neumann algebra relative Cstar-algebra A without central summands of type I_1 then every bijective unital multiplicative star-Lie-Jordan-type maps are star-ring isomorphisms.
We prove that if $\mathcal M$ is a properly infinite von Neumann algebra and $LS(\mathcal M)$ is the local measurable operator algebra affiliated with $\mathcal M$, then every Jordan derivation from $LS(\mathcal M)$ into itself is continuous with respect to the local measure topology $t(\mathcal M)$. We construct an extension of a Jordan derivation from $\mathcal M$ into $LS(\mathcal M)$ up to a Jordan derivation from $LS(\mathcal M)$ into itself. Moreover, we prove that if $\mathcal M$ is a properly von Neumann algebra and $\mathcal A$ is a subalgebra of $LS(\mathcal M)$ such that $\mathcal M…
We characterize completely bounded normal Jordan $*$-homomorphisms acting on von Neumann algebras. We also characterize completely positive isometries acting on noncommutative $\mathrm{L}^p$-spaces.
We show that any order isomorphism between ordered structures of associative unital JB-subalgebras of JBW algebras is implemented naturally by a Jordan isomorphism. Consequently, JBW algebras are determined by the structure of their associative unital JB subalgebras. Further we show that in a similar way it is possible to reconstruct Jordan structure from the order structure of associative subalgebras endowed with an orthogonality relation. In case of abelian subalgebras of von Neuman algebra it is we shown that order isomorphisms of the structure of abelian C*-subalgebras that are well behave…
Without the faithful assumption, we prove that every Jordan derivation on a class of path algebras of quivers without oriented cycles is a derivation and that every Lie derivation on such kinds of algebras is of the standard form.
Let $\mathcal{A}$ be a unital $C^{*}$-algebra. We consider Jordan $*$-homomorphisms on $C(X, \mathcal{A})$ and Jordan $*$-homomorphisms on $\operatorname{Lip}(X,\mathcal{A})$. More precisely, for any unital $C^{*}$-algebra $\mathcal{A}$, we prove that every Jordan $*$-homomorphism on $C(X, \mathcal{A})$ and every Jordan $*$-homomorphism on $\operatorname{Lip}(X,\mathcal{A})$ is represented as a weighted composition operator by using the irreducible representations of $\mathcal{A}$. In addition, when $\mathcal{A}_1$ and $\mathcal{A}_2$ are primitive $C^{*}$-algebras, we characterize the Jordan …
Let d be a linear mapping from a unital Banach algebra A into a unital left A-module M, and w in Z(A) be a left separating point of M. We show that the following three conditions are equivalent: (i) d is a Jordan left derivation; (ii) d is left derivable at w; (iii) d is Jordan left derivable at w. Let A be a Banach algebra with the property (B), and M be a Banach left A-module. We consider the relations between generalized (Jordan) left derivations and (Jordan) left derivable mappings at zero from A into M.
We develop a cohomology theory for Jordan triples, including the infinite dimensional ones, by means of the cohomology of TKK Lie algebras. This enables us to apply Lie cohomological results to the setting of Jordan triples. Some preliminary results for von Neumann algebras are obtained.
In the present paper we introduce and investigate the notion of 2-local linear map on vector spaces. A sufficient condition is obtained for linearity of a 2-local linear map on finite dimensional vector spaces. Based on this result we prove that every 2-local derivation on a finite dimensional formally real Jordan algebra is a derivation. Also we show that every 2-local 1-automorphism (i.e. implemented by single symmetries) of mentioned Jordan algebras is an automorphism.
We prove the existence of a linear isometric correspondence between the Banach space of all symmetric orthogonal forms on a JB$^*$-algebra $\mathcal{J}$ and the Banach space of all purely Jordan generalized derivations from $\mathcal{J}$ into $\mathcal{J}^*$. We also establish the existence of a similar linear isometric correspondence between the Banach spaces of all anti-symmetric orthogonal forms on $\mathcal{J}$, and of all Lie Jordan derivations from $\mathcal{J}$ into $\mathcal{J}^*$.
We investigate the properties of bounded operators which satisfy a certain spectral additivity condition, and use our results to study Lie and Jordan algebras of compact operators. We prove that these algebras have nontrivial invariant subspaces when their elements have sublinear or submultiplicative spectrum, and when they satisfy simple trace conditions. In certain cases we show that these conditions imply that the algebra is (simultaneously) triangularizable.
Jordan operator algebras are norm-closed spaces of operators on a Hilbert space which are closed under the Jordan product. The discovery of the present paper is that there exists a huge and tractable theory of possibly nonselfadjoint Jordan operator algebras; they are far more similar to associative operator algebras than was suspected. We initiate the theory of such algebras.
Jordan operator algebras are norm-closed spaces of operators on a Hilbert space with a^2 in A for all a in A. In two recent papers by the authors and Neal, a theory for these spaces was developed. It was shown there that much of the theory of associative operator algebras, in particularly surprisingly much of the associative theory from several recent papers of the first author and coauthors, generalizes to Jordan operator algebras. In the present paper we complete this task, giving several results which generalize the associative case in these papers, relating to unitizations, real positivity…
