A new Skyrme functional including tensor terms is presented. The tensor terms have been determined by fitting the results of relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (RBHF) studies on neutron-proton drops. Unlike all previous studies, where the tensor terms were usually determined by fitting to experimental data of single-particle levels, the pseudodata calculated by RBHF does not contain beyond mean-field effect such as the particle-vibration coupling and, therefore, can provide information on the tensor term without ambiguities. The obtained new functional, named SAMi-T, can describe well ground-state properties such as binding energies, radii, spin-orbit splittings and, at the same time, the excited state properties such as those of the Giant Monopole Resonance (GMR), Giant Dipole Resonance (GDR), Gamow-Teller Resonance (GTR), and Spin-Dipole Resonance (SDR).
We use properties of doubly-magic nuclei, ab-initio calculations of low-density neutron matter, and of neutron stars to constrain the parameters of the Skyrme energy-density functional. We find all of these properties can be reproduced within a constrained family of Skyrme parameters. The maximum mass of a neutron star is found to be sensitive to the neutron effective mass. A value of [$ m^{*}_{\rm n}/m](ρ_0) = 0.60-0.65 $ is required to obtain a maximum neutron star mass of 2.1 solar masses. Using the constrained Skyrme functional with the aforementioned effective mass, the predicted radius f…
A new Skyrme functional devised to account well for standard nuclear properties as well as for spin and spin-isospin properties is presented. The main novelty of this work relies on the introduction of tensor terms guided by \textit{ab initio} relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock calculations of neutron-proton drops. The inclusion of tensor term does not decrease the accuracy in describing bulk properties of nuclei, experimental data of some selected spherical nuclei such as binding energies, charge radii, and spin-orbit splittings can be well fitted. The new functional is applied to the invest…
We present the first application of a new approach, proposed in [Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics, 43, 04LT01 (2016)] to derive coupling constants of the Skyrme energy density functional (EDF) from ab initio Hamiltonian. By perturbing the ab initio Hamiltonian with several functional generators defining the Skyrme EDF, we create a set of metadata that is then used to constrain the coupling constants of the functional. We use statistical analysis to obtain such an ab initio-equivalent Skyrme EDF. We find that the resulting functional describes properties of atomic nuclei and i…
A new Skyrme functional has been developed with tensor term guided by ab initio relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (RBHF) studies on neutron-proton drops. Instead of extracting information on the tensor force from experimental single-particle energy splittings, the RBHF calculations do not contain beyond mean-field effects such as particle-vibration coupling and therefore the information on the tensor force can be obtained without ambiguities. The new functional gives a good description of nuclear ground-state properties as well as various giant resonances. The description for the evolution o…
We present recent developments obtained in the so-called N2LO extension of the usual Skyrme pseudo-potential. In particular, we discuss the isovector splitting mass in infinite nuclear matter and the pairing gaps of selected semi-magic even-even nuclei.

A systematic and specific pattern due to the effects of the tensor forces is found in the evolution of spin-orbit splittings in neutron drops. This result is obtained from relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock theory using the bare nucleon-nucleon interaction. It forms an important guide for future microscopic derivations of relativistic and nonrelativistic nuclear energy density functionals.
We calculate the single particle spectrum of the double magic nucleus $^{78}$Ni in a Hartree-Fock approach using the Skyrme density-dependent effective interaction containing central, spin-orbit and tensor parts. We show that the tensor part has an important effect on the spin-orbit splitting of the proton $1f$ orbit which may explain the survival of magicity so far from the stability valley. We confirm the inversion of the $1f5/2$ and $2p3/2$ levels at the neutron number 48 in the Ni isotopic chain expected from previous Monte Carlo shell model calculations and supported by experimental obser…
New {\em ab initio} constrained extended Skyrme equations of state for simulations of neutron stars, supernovae and binary mergers: I. Subsaturation density domain
I have investigated the $N$-dependence of the charge radii $r_c$ across $N=126$ in the Pb isotopes and the surface densities of $^{208}$Pb using new Skyrme interactions that contain a density-dependent spin-orbit term, which I have named the Skyrme-ddso interactions. I have compared the results obtained using Skyrme-Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculations that employ the Skyrme-ddso interactions with the original Skyrme results and have discussed the effects of including the density-dependent spin-orbit term. The results for the kink behavior of $r_c$ at $N=126$ in the Pb isotopes were improved b…
[Background] Giant resonance (GR) is a typical collective mode of vibration. The deformation splitting of the isovector (IV) giant dipole resonance is well established. However, the splitting of GRs with other multipolarities is not well understood. [Purpose] I explore the IV monopole and quadrupole excitations and attempt to obtain the generic features of IV giant resonances in deformed nuclei by investigating the neutral and charge-exchange channels simultaneously. [Method] I employ a nuclear energy-density functional (EDF) method: the Skyrme-Kohn-Sham-Bogoliubov and the quasiparticle random…
We found the same staggering pattern in the evolution of the spin-orbit (SO) and pseudospin-orbit (PSO) splittings in neutron drops obtained by the energy-density functional (EDF) theory using SAMi-T and SLy5 parameterizations, with and without the tensor terms respectively. This staggering evolution is similar to the results recently obtained by the relativistic Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (RBHF) theory with Bonn A potential, which was claimed to be a tensor effect. In this work, we present an intuitive but essential explanation on the origin of this staggering evolution in the Skyrme EDF theory. …
New energy-density functionals (EDFs) inspired by effective-field theories (EFTs) have been recently proposed. The present work focuses on three of such functionals which were developed to produce satisfactory equations of state for nuclear matter. We aim to extend these functionals to treat finite systems including a spin-orbit contribution and pairing correlations. We illustrate here a first step towards this direction, namely a generalization of such functionals tailored to perform applications to neutron gases confined in harmonic traps. Sets of available \textit{ab initio} results are use…
The separation energies of the isospin triplet $^7_Λ\mathrm{He}$, $^7_Λ\mathrm{Li^{*}}$, $^7_Λ$Be, and the $T=1/2$ doublet $^8_Λ$Li, $^8_Λ$Be are investigated within the no-core shell model. Calculations are performed based on a hyperon-nucleon potential derived from chiral effective field theory at next-to-leading order. The potential includes the leading charge-symmetry breaking (CSB) interaction in the $Λ$N channel, whose strength has been fixed to the experimentally known difference of the $Λ$ separation energies of the mirror hypernuclei $^4_Λ\mathrm{He}$ and $^4_Λ\mathrm{H}$. It turns ou…
Valuable theoretical predictions of nuclear dipole excitations in the whole nuclear chart are of great interest for different applications, including in particular nuclear astrophysics. We present here the systematic study of the electric dipole (E1) photon strength functions (PSFs) combining the microscopic Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov plus Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation (HFB+QRPA) model and the parametrizations constrained by the available experimental giant dipole resonance (GDR) data. For about 10000 nuclei with 8<Z<124 lying between the proton and the neutron drip-lines on nuclear ch…
