This is a new version of our previous work. In this version, we fill a gap included in the original proof of Theorem 1.1 in our previous paper entitled "An iterative method for Kirchhoff type equations and its applications".
We give integral formulas to approximate solutions of Dirichlet and Neumann problems for Helmholtz equation at high frequencies. These approximations are valid in the complementary of a union of convex compact obstacles. The first step of the iterative procedure is the classical Kirchhoff approximation. Convergence is proved by comparison with the geometrical optics asymptotics. The method is shown to be numerically stable.
We study the one-dimensional nonlocal elliptic equation of Kirchhoff type with logarithmic Kirchhoff function. We establish the precise asymptotic formulas for the solution $u_λ(x)$ as $λ\to \infty$. Here, $λ> 0$ is the bifurcation parameter.
Inhomogeneous Kirchhoff type equations with indefinite data are considered. Some necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of positive solutions of the problem under consideration are presented.
In this article, we establish the existence of solutions to the fractional $p-$Kirchhoff type equations with a generalized Choquard nonlinearities without assuming the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition.
In the present note we prove a multiplicity result for a Kirchhoff type problem involving a critical term, giving a partial positive answer to a problem raised by Ricceri.
In the present paper, we study a Kirchhoff type problem involving the critical Sobolev exponent. We give sufficient conditions for the sequentially weakly lower semicontinuity and the Palais Smale property of the energy functional associated to the problem.
In this paper we are concerned with some $p$-Kirchhoff type problems involving sign-changing weight functions. We prove the existence of multiple positive solutions of the problem via the Nehari manifold approach.
In this paper, we consider the Dirichlet problem associated to an elliptic Kirchhoff-type equation depending on two parameters. Under rather general and natural assumptions, we prove that, for certain values of the parameters, the problem has at least three solutions.
We study a generalized Kirchhoff type equation with trapping potential. The existence and blow-up behavior of solutions with normalized L2-norm for this problem are discussed.
In this paper we deal with a Kirchhoff type problem driven by a fractional nonlocal integrodifferential operator $-\mathcal L_K$ and involving a critical nonlinearity. For this problem we prove the existence of infinitely many solutions, through a suitable truncation argument and exploiting the genus theory introduced by Krasnoselskii.
In this paper, we show the nonexistence results for the Kirchhoff elliptic, parabolic, and hyperbolic type equations on the Heisenberg groups. Also, the pseudo-parabolic and pseudo-hyperbolic equations of the Kirchhoff-type are under consideration. To prove these results we use the test function method. In addition, the analogous results are transferred to the cases of systems. Also, we give some examples of non-local nonlinearities.
This article concerns on the existence of multiple solutions for a new Kirchhoff-type problem with negative modulus. We prove that there exist three nontrivial solutions when the parameter is enough small via the variational methods and algebraic analysis. Moreover, our fundamental technique is one of the Mountain Pass Lemma, Ekeland variational principle, and Minimax principle.
This paper deals with Strauss and Lions-type theorems for fractional Sobolev spaces with variable exponent $W^{s,p(.),\tilde{p}(.,.)}(Ω)$, when $p$ and $\tilde{p}$ satisfies some conditions. As application, we study the existence of solutions for a class of Kirchhoff-Choquard problem in $\mathbb{R}^N$.
The fact that potentially skilled, but biologically later-maturing athletes are less likely to be selected into talent development programmes can represent a failure of Talent Identification in sports. In this article, we prove the existence of solutions for Kirchhoff type equations with Dirichlet boundaryvalue condition. We use the Mountain Pass Theorem in critical point theory, without the (PS) condition.
In this paper, we consider a class of quasilinear stationary Kirchhoff type potential systems in unbounded domains, which involves a general variable exponent elliptic operator. Under some suitable conditions on the nonlinearities, we establish existence of at least three weak solutions for the problem. The proof of our main result uses variational methods and the critical theorem of Bonanno and Marano.
In this paper, we study two classes of Kirchhoff type problems set on a double phase framework. That is, the functional space where finding solutions coincides with the Musielak-Orlicz-Sobolev space $W^{1,\mathcal H}_0(Ω)$, with modular function $\mathcal H$ related to the so called double phase operator. Via a variational approach, we provide existence and multiplicity results.
We establish a concentration-compactness principle for the Sobolev space $W^{2,p(\cdot)}(Ω)\cap W_0^{1,p(\cdot)}(Ω)$ that is a tool for overcoming the lack of compactness of the critical Sobolev imbedding. Using this result we obtain several existence and multiplicity results for a class of Kirchhoff type problems involving $p(\cdot)$-biharmonic operator and critical growth.
In this article we study the existence of weak solution, existence of ground state solution using Nehari manifold and existence of infinitely many solutions using Fountain theorem and Dual fountain theorem for a class of doubly nonlocal Kirchhoff-Choquard type equations involving the variable-order fractional $p(\cdot)-$ Laplacian operator. Here the nonlinearity does not satisfy the well known Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition.
In this work, we study the higher order Kirchhoff type Choquard equation $(KC)$ involving a critical exponential non-linearity and singular weights. We prove the existence of solution to $(KC)$ using Mountain pass Lemma in light of Moser-Trudinger and singular Adams-Moser inequalities. In the second part of the paper, using the Nehari manifold technique and minimization over its suitable subsets, we prove the existence of at least two solutions to the Kirchhoff type Choquard equation $(\mathcal{P_{\la,M}})$ involving convex-concave type non-linearity.
Firstly, we use Nehari manifold and Mountain Pass Lemma to prove an existence result of positive solutions for a class of nonlocal elliptic system with Kirchhoff type. Then a multiplicity result is established by cohomological index of Fadell and Rabinowitz. We also consider the critical case and prove existence of positive least energy solution when the parameter $β$ is sufficiently large.
In this paper, we study the existence of three solutions for a Kirchhoff equation involving the nonlocal fractional p-Laplacian considering Sobolev and Hardy nonlinearities at subcritical and critical growths. The proof is based on Mountain Pass Theorem, Ekeland's variational principle and constrained minimization in Nehari sets.
This paper is concerned with an elliptic system of Kirchhoff type, driven by the variable-order fractional $p(x)$-operator. With the help of the direct variational method and Ekeland variational principle, we show the existence of a weak solution. This is our first attempt to study this kind of system, in the case of variable-order fractional variable exponents. Our main theorem extends in several directions previous results.
We carry out an investigation of the existence of infinitely many solutions to a fractional $p$-Kirchhoff type problem with a singularity and a superlinear nonlinearity with a homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. Further the solution(s) will be proved to be bounded and a weak comparison principle has also been proved. A {\it `$C^1$ versus $W_0^{s,p}$'} analysis has also been discussed.
In this paper we establish the existence of mountain pass and negative energy weak solutions for a Kirchhoff-Schrödinger type problem in $\mathbb R^4$ involving a critical nonlinearity and a suitable small perturbation. The arisen competition between the terms due to the nonlocal coefficient and critical nonlinearity turns out to be rather interesting. The main tools used in the present work are variational methods and the Lions' Concentration Compactness Principle.
This paper is concerned with a viscoelastic equation of Kirchhoff type with acoustic boundary conditions in a bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^{n}.$ We show that, under suitable conditions on the initial data, the solution exists globally in time. Then, we prove the general energy decay of global solutions by applying a lemma of P. Martinez, wihch allows us to get our decay result for a class of relaxation functions wider than that usually used.
This paper deals with some classes of Kirchhoff type problems on a double phase setting and with nonlinear boundary conditions. Under general assumptions, we provide multiplicity results for such problems in the case when the perturbations exhibit a suitable behavior in the origin and at infinity, or when they do not necessarily satisfy the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. To this aim, we combine variational methods, truncation arguments and topological tools.
The present paper deals with a parametrized Kirchhoff type problem involving a critical nonlinearity in high dimension. Existence, non existence and multiplicity of solutions are obtained under the effect of a subcritical perturbation by combining variational properties with a careful analysis of the fiber maps of the energy functional associated to the problem. The particular case of a pure power perturbation is also addressed. Through the study of the Nehari manifolds we extend the general case to a wider range of the parameters.
In this paper, we study the following Kirchhoff type problem:% $$ \left\{\aligned&-\bigg(α\int_{\bbr^3}|\nabla u|^2dx+1\bigg)Δu+(λa(x)+a_0)u=|u|^{p-2}u&\text{ in }\bbr^3,\\% &u\in\h,\endaligned\right.\eqno{(\mathcal{P}_{α,λ})}% $$ where $4<p<6$, $α$ and $λ$ are two positive parameters, $a_0\in\bbr$ is a (possibly negative) constant and $a(x)\geq0$ is the potential well. By the variational method, we investigate the existence of nontrivial solutions to $(\mathcal{P}_{α,λ})$. To our best knowledge, it is the first time that the nontrivial solution of the Kirchhoff type problem is found in the in…
In this paper we study the geometry of certain functionals associated to quasilinear elliptic boundary value problems with a degenerate nonlocal term of Kirchhoff type. Due to the degeneration of the nonlocal term it is not possible to directly use classical results such as uniform a-priori estimates and "Sobolev versus Hölder local minimizers" type of results. We prove that results similar to these hold true or not, depending on how degenerate the problem is. We apply our findings in order to show existence and multiplicity of solutions for the associated quasilinear equations, considering se…
In this paper we address the following Kirchhoff type problem \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -Δ(g(|\nabla u|_2^2) u + u^r) = a u + b u^p& \mbox{in}~Ω, u>0& \mbox{in}~Ω, u= 0& \mbox{on}~\partialΩ, \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} in a bounded and smooth domain $Ω$ in ${\rm I}\hskip -0.85mm{\rm R}$. By using change of variables and bifurcation methods, we show, under suitable conditions on the parameters $a,b,p,r$ and the nonlinearity $g$, the existence of positive solutions.
We study the following Brezis-Nirenberg problem of Kirchhoff type $$ \left\{\aligned &-(a+b\int_Ω|\nabla u|^2dx)Δu = λ|u|^{q-2}u + δ|u|^{2}u, &\quad \text{in}\ Ω, \\ &u=0,& \text{on}\ \partialΩ, \endaligned \right. $$ where $Ω\subset \bbr^4$ is a bounded domain with the smooth boundary $\partialΩ$, $2\leq q<4$ and $a$, $b$, $λ$, $δ$ are positive parameters. We obtain some new existence and nonexistence results, depending on the values of the above parameters, which improves some known results. The asymptotical behaviors of the solutions are also considered in this paper.
This paper is devoted to the study of the following autonomous Kirchhoff-type equation $$-M\left(\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}|\nabla{u}|^2\right)Δ{u}= f(u),~~~~u\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^N),$$ where $M$ is a continuous non-degenerate function and $N\geq2$. Under suitable additional conditions on $M$ and general Berestycki-Lions type assumptions on the nonlinearity $f$, we establish several existence results of multiple solutions by variational methods, which are also naturally interpreted from a non-variational point of view.
In this paper, we establish a type of uniqueness and nondegeneracy results for positive solutions to the following nonlocal Kirchhoff equations \begin{eqnarray*} -\left(a+b\int_{\mathbb{R}^{3}}|\nabla u|^{2}\text{d} x\right)Δu+u=|u|^{p-1}u & & \text{in }\mathbb{R}^{3}, \end{eqnarray*} where $a,b$ are positive constants and $1<p<5$. Before this paper, it seems that there have no this type of results even on positive ground states solutions to Kirchhoff type equations, much less on general positive solutions. To overcome the difficulty brought by the nonlocality, some new observation on Kirchhof…
The higher order Kirchhoff type equation $$\int_{\mathbb{R}^{2m}}(|\nabla^m u|^2 +\sum_{γ=0}^{m-1}a_γ(x)|\nabla^γu|^2)dx \left((-Δ)^m u+\sum_{γ=0}^{m-1}(-1)^γ\nabla^γ\cdot(a_γ(x)\nabla^γu)\right) =\frac{f(x,u)}{|x|^β}+εh(x)\ \ \text{in}\ \ \mathbb{R}^{2m}$$ is considered in this paper. We assume that the nonlinearity of the equation has exponential critical growth and prove that, for a positive $ε$ which is small enough, there are two distinct nontrivial solutions to the equation. When $ε=0$, we also prove that the equation has a nontrivial mountain-pass type solution.
In this paper, we prove the infinitely many solutions to a class of sublinear Kirchhoff type equations by using an extension of Clark's Theorem established by Zhaoli Liu and Zhi-Qiang Wang.
In this note we complete the study made in a previous paper on a Kirchhoff type equation with a Berestycki-Lions nonlinearity. We also correct Theorem 0.6 inside.
We study a superlinear and subcritical Kirchhoff type equation which is variational and depends upon a real parameter $λ$. The nonlocal term forces some of the fiber maps associated with the energy functional to have two critical points. This suggest multiplicity of solutions and indeed we show the existence of a local minimum and a mountain pass type solution. We characterize the first parameter $λ_0^*$ for which the local minimum has non-negative energy when $λ\ge λ_0^*$. Moreover we characterize the extremal parameter $λ^*$ for which if $λ>λ^*$, then the only solution to the Kirchhoff equat…
We consider the following singularly perturbed Kirchhoff type equations $$-\varepsilon^2 M\left(\varepsilon^{2-N}\int_{\R^N}|\nabla u|^2 dx\right)Δu +V(x)u=|u|^{p-2}u~\hbox{in}~\R^N, u\in H^1(\R^N),N\geq 1,$$ where $M\in C([0,\infty))$ and $V\in C(\R^N)$ are given functions. Under very mild assumptions on $M$, we prove the existence of single-peak or multi-peak solution $u_\varepsilon$ for above problem, concentrating around topologically stable critical points of $V$, by a direct corresponding argument. This gives an affirmative answer to an open problem raised by Figueiredo et al. in 2014 [A…
We are concerned with the following Kirchhoff type equation $$-\varepsilon^2 M \left(\varepsilon^{2-N} \int_{\mathbb{R}^N} | \nabla u|^2\, \mathrm{d} x\right) Δu+V(x)u = f(u),\ x \in \mathbb{R}^N,\ \ N\ge2, $$ where $M \in C(\mathbb{R}^+,\mathbb{R}^+)$, $V\in C(\mathbb{R}^N,\mathbb{R}^+)$ and $f(s)$ is of critical growth. In this paper, we construct a localized bound state solution concentrating at a local minimum of $V$ as $\varepsilon\to 0$ under certain conditions on $f(s)$, $M$ and $V$. In particular, the monotonicity of $f(s)/s$ and the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition are not required.
In this paper we deal with the multiplicity and concentration of positive solutions for the following fractional Schrödinger-Kirchhoff type equation \begin{equation*} M\left(\frac{1}{\varepsilon^{3-2s}} \iint_{\mathbb{R}^{6}}\frac{|u(x)- u(y)|^{2}}{|x-y|^{3+2s}} dxdy + \frac{1}{\varepsilon^{3}} \int_{\mathbb{R}^{3}} V(x)u^{2} dx\right)[\varepsilon^{2s} (-Δ)^{s}u+ V(x)u]= f(u) \, \mbox{in} \mathbb{R}^{3} \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon>0$ is a small parameter, $s\in (\frac{3}{4}, 1)$, $(-Δ)^{s}$ is the fractional Laplacian, $M$ is a Kirchhoff function, $V$ is a continuous positive potential …
In this paper we study the validity of the comparison principle and the sub-supersolution method for Kirchhoff type equations. We show that these principles do not work when the Kirchhoff function is increasing, contradicting some previous results. We give an alternative sub-supersolution method and apply it to some models.
We consider the following autonomous Kirchhoff-type equation \begin{equation*} -\left(a+b\int_{\mathbb{R}^N}|\nabla{u}|^2\right)Δu= f(u),~~~~u\in H^1(\mathbb{R}^N), \end{equation*} where $a\geq0,b>0$ are constants and $N\geq1$. Under general Berestycki-Lions type assumptions on the nonlinearity $f$, we establish the existence results of a ground state and multiple radial solutions for $N\geq2$, and obtain a nontrivial solution and its uniqueness, up to a translation and up to a sign, for $N=1$. The proofs are mainly based on a rescaling argument, which is specific for the autonomous case, and …
In this paper, we investigate the existence of weak solution for a Kirchhoff type problem driven by a nonlocal operator of elliptic type in a fractional Orlicz-Sobolev space, with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions {\small$$ (D_{K,A}) \hspace*{0.5cm} \left\{ \begin{array}{clclc} M\left( \displaystyle \int_{\R^{2N}}A\left( [u(x)-u(y)] K(x,y)\right) dxdy\right) \mathcal{L}^K_A u & = & f(x,u) & \text{ in }& Ω, \hspace*{7cm} u & = & 0 \hspace*{0.2cm} \hspace*{0.2cm} & \text{ in } & \R^N\setminus Ω. \label{eq1} \end{array} \right. $$ } Where $\mathcal{L}^K_A$ is a nonlocal operator with sing…
In this paper, we study the following nonlinear problem of Kirchhoff type with pure power nonlinearities: (a+b\ds\int_{\R^3}|D u|^2\right)Δu+V(x)u=|u|^{p-1}u, u\in H^1(\R^3), u>0, $x\in \R^3, where $a,$ $b>0$ are constants, $2<p<5$ and $V:\R^3\rightarrow\R$. Under certain assumptions on $V$, we prove that \eqref{0.1} has a positive ground state solution by using a monotonicity trick and a new version of global compactness lemma. Our main results can be viewed as a partial extension of a recent result of He and Zou in [16] concerning the existence of positive solutions to the nonlinear Kirchhof…
For a degenerate autonomous Kirchhoff equation which is set on $\mathbb{R}^N$ and involves the Berestycki-Lions type nonlinearity, we cope with the cases $N=2,3$ and $N\geq5$ by using mountain pass and symmetric mountain pass approaches and by using Clark theorem respectively.
In this paper, we study the following nonlinear problem of Kirchhoff type with critical Sobolev exponent: -\left(a+b\ds\int_{\R^3}|D u|^2\right)Δu+u=f(x,u)+u^{5}, u\in H^1(\R^3), u>0, $x\in \R^3$ where a,b>0 are constants. Under certain assumptions on the sign-changing function $f(x,u)$, we prove the existence of positive solutions by variational methods. Our main results can be viewed as a partial extension of a recent result of He and Zou in [17] concerning the existence of positive solutions to the nonlinear Kirchhoff problem \left(\varepsilon^2a+\varepsilon b\ds\int_{\R^3}|D u|^2\right)Δu+…
By introducing some new tricks, we prove that the nonlinear problem of Kirchhoff-type \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} -\left(a+b\int_{\R^3}|\nabla u|^2\mathrm{d}x\right)\triangle u+V(x)u=f(u), & x\in \R^3; u\in H^1(\R^3), \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} admits two class of ground state solutions under the general "Berestycki-Lions assumptions" on the nonlinearity $f$ which are almost necessary conditions, as well as some weak assumptions on the potential $V$. Moreover, we also give a simple minimax characterization of the ground state energy. Our results improve and complement …
