We establish a concentration-compactness principle for the Sobolev space $W^{2,p(\cdot)}(Ω)\cap W_0^{1,p(\cdot)}(Ω)$ that is a tool for overcoming the lack of compactness of the critical Sobolev imbedding. Using this result we obtain several existence and multiplicity results for a class of Kirchhoff type problems involving $p(\cdot)$-biharmonic operator and critical growth.
In this article we study the existence of weak solution, existence of ground state solution using Nehari manifold and existence of infinitely many solutions using Fountain theorem and Dual fountain theorem for a class of doubly nonlocal Kirchhoff-Choquard type equations involving the variable-order fractional $p(\cdot)-$ Laplacian operator. Here the nonlinearity does not satisfy the well known Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition.
We are interested in the existence of solutions for the following fractional $p(x,\cdot)$-Kirchhoff type problem $$ \left\{\begin{array}{ll} M \, \left(\displaystyle\int_{Ω\times Ω} \ \displaystyle{\frac{|u(x)-u(y)|^{p(x,y)}}{p(x,y) \ |x-y|^{N+p(x,y)s}}} \ dx \, dy\right)(-Δ)^{s}_{p(x,\cdot)}u = f(x,u), \quad x\in Ω, \\ \\ u= 0, \quad x\in \partialΩ, \end{array}\right.$$ where $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^{N}$, $N\geq 2$ is a bounded smooth domain, $s\in(0,1),$ $p: \overlineΩ\times \overlineΩ \rightarrow (1, \infty)$, $(-Δ)^{s}_{p(x,\cdot)}$ denotes the $p(x,\cdot)$-fractional Laplace operator, $M: [0,…
The study of fourth order partial differential equations has flourished in the last years, however, a $p(\cdot)$-biharmonic problem with no-flux boundary condition has never been considered before, not even for constant $p$. This is an important step further, since surfaces that are impermeable to some contaminants are appearing quite often in nature, hence the significance of such boundary condition. By relying on several variational arguments, we obtain the existence and the multiplicity of weak solutions to our problem. We point out that, although we use a mountain pass type theorem in orde…
\noi In this article, we study the existence of non-negative solutions of the following polyharmonic Kirchhoff type problem with critical singular exponential nolinearity $$ \quad \left\{ \begin{array}{lr} \quad -M\left(\displaystyle\int_Ω|\nabla^m u|^{\frac{n}{m}}dx\right)Δ_{\frac{n}{m}}^{m} u = \frac{f(x,u)}{|x|^α} \; \text{in}\; \Om{,} \quad \quad u = \nabla u=\cdot\cdot\cdot= {\nabla}^{m-1} u=0 \quad \text{on} \quad \partial \Om{,} \end{array} \right. $$ where $\Om\subset \mb R^n$ is a bounded domain with smooth boundary, $n\geq 2m\geq 2$ and $f(x,u)$ behaves like $e^{|u|^{\frac{n}{n-m}}}$…
The aim of this paper is to study the multiplicity of solutions for the following Kirchhoff type elliptic systems \begin{eqnarray*} \left\{ \arraycolsep=1.5pt \begin{array}{ll} -m\left(\sum^k_{j=1}\|u_j\|^2\right)Δu_i=\frac{f_i(x,u_1,\ldots,u_k)}{|x|^β}+\varepsilon h_i(x),\ \ & \mbox{in}\ \ Ω, \ \ i=1,\ldots,k ,\\[2mm] u_1=u_2=\cdots=u_k=0,\ \ & \mbox{on}\ \ \partialΩ, \end{array} \right. \end{eqnarray*} where $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^2$ containing the origin with smooth boundary, $β\in [0,2)$, $m$ is a Kirchhoff type function, $\|u_j\|^2=\int_Ω|\nabla u_j|^2dx$, $f_i$ behaves li…
We consider an operator $Δ^2 + A(x)\cdot D+q(x)$ with the Navier boundary conditions on a bounded domain in $R^n$, $n\ge 3$. We show that a first order perturbation $A(x)\cdot D+q$ can be determined uniquely by measuring the Dirichlet--to--Neumann map on possibly very small subsets of the boundary of the domain. Notice that the corresponding result does not hold in general for a first order perturbation of the Laplacian.
We establish a continuous embedding $W^{s(\cdot),2}(Ω)\hookrightarrow L^{α(\cdot)}(Ω)$, where the variable exponent $α(x)$ can be close to the critical exponent $2_{s}^*(x)=\frac{2N}{N-2\bar{s}(x)}$, with $\bar{s}(x)=s(x,x)$ for all $x\in\barΩ$. Subsequently, this continuous embedding is used to prove the multiplicity of solutions for critical nonlocal degenerate Kirchhoff problems with a variable singular exponent. Moreover, we also obtain the uniform $L^{\infty}$-estimate of these infinite solutions by a bootstrap argument.
The higher order Kirchhoff type equation $$\int_{\mathbb{R}^{2m}}(|\nabla^m u|^2 +\sum_{γ=0}^{m-1}a_γ(x)|\nabla^γu|^2)dx \left((-Δ)^m u+\sum_{γ=0}^{m-1}(-1)^γ\nabla^γ\cdot(a_γ(x)\nabla^γu)\right) =\frac{f(x,u)}{|x|^β}+εh(x)\ \ \text{in}\ \ \mathbb{R}^{2m}$$ is considered in this paper. We assume that the nonlinearity of the equation has exponential critical growth and prove that, for a positive $ε$ which is small enough, there are two distinct nontrivial solutions to the equation. When $ε=0$, we also prove that the equation has a nontrivial mountain-pass type solution.
The inverse fixed angle problem for operator $Δ^2 u + V(x,|u|) u$ is considered in dimensions $n=2,3$. We prove that the difference between an inverse fixed angle Born approximation and the function $V(\cdot,1)$ is smoother than the function $V$ itself in some Sobolev scale. This allows us to conclude that the main singularities of the perturbation $V$ can be reconstructed from the knowledge of the scattering amplitude with some fixed incident angle.
This paper deals with the following degenerate fractional Kirchhoff-type system with magnetic fields and critical growth: $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{lll} -\mathfrak{M}(\|u\|_{s,A}^2)[(-Δ)^s_Au+u] = G_u(|x|,|u|^2,|v|^2) + \left(\mathcal{I}_μ*|u|^{p^*}\right)|u|^{p^*-2}u \ &\mbox{in}\,\,\mathbb{R}^N,\\ \mathfrak{M}(\|v\|_{s,A})[(-Δ)^s_Av+v] = G_v(|x|,|u|^2,|v|^2) + \left(\mathcal{I}_μ*|v|^{p^*}\right)|v|^{p^*-2}v \ &\mbox{in}\,\,\mathbb{R}^N, \end{array}\right. $$ where $$\|u\|_{s,A}=\left(\iint_{\mathbb{R}^{2N}}\frac{|u(x)-e^{i(x-y)\cdot A(\frac{x+y}{2})}u(y)|^2}{|x-y|^{N+2s}}dx dy+\int_{\mathbb{…
Motived by the heat flow and bubble analysis of biharmonic mappings, we study further regularity issues of the fourth order Lamm-Riviere system $$Δ^{2}u=Δ(V\cdot\nabla u)+{\rm div}(w\nabla u)+(\nablaω+F)\cdot\nabla u+f$$ in dimension four, with an inhomogeneous term $f$ which belongs to some natural function space. We obtain optimal higher order regularity and sharp Holder continuity of weak solutions. Among several applications, we derive weak compactness for sequences of weak solutions with uniformly bounded energy, which generalizes the weak convergence theory of approximate biharmonic mapp…
