We describe the basic Dolbealut cohomology algebra of the canonical foliation on a class of complex manifolds with a torus symmetry group. This class includes complex moment-angle manifolds, LVM- and LVMB-manifolds and, in most generality, complex manifolds with a maximal holomorphic torus action. We also provide a dga model for the ordinary Dolbeault cohomology algebra. The Hodge decomposition for the basic Dolbeault cohomology is proved by reducing to the transversely Kaehler (equivalently, polytopal) case using a foliated analogue of toric blow-up.
Let $G$ be a complex Lie group acting on a compact complex Hermitian manifold $M$ by holomorphic isometries. We prove that the induced action on the Dolbeault cohomology and on the Bott-Chern cohomology is trivial. We also apply this result to compute the Dolbeault cohomology of Vaisman manifolds.
In this paper, we establish a deformation theory for Dolbeault cohomology classes valued in holomorphic tensor bundles. We prove the extension equation which will play the role of Maurer-Cartan equation. Following the classical theory of Kodaira-Spencer-Kuranishi, we construct a canonical complete family of deformations by using the power series method. We also prove a simple relation between the existence of deformations and the varying of the dimensions of Dolbeault cohomology. The deformations of $(p,q)$-forms is shown to be unobstructed under some mild conditions. By analyzing Nakamura's e…
This paper extends Dolbeault cohomology and its surrounding theory to arbitrary almost complex manifolds. We define a spectral sequence converging to ordinary cohomology, whose first page is the Dolbeault cohomology, and develop a harmonic theory which injects into Dolbeault cohomology. Lie-theoretic analogues of the theory are developed which yield important calculational tools for Lie groups and nilmanifolds. Finally, we study applications to maximally non-integrable manifolds, including nearly Kähler $6$-manifolds, and show Dolbeault cohomology can be used to prohibit the existence of nearl…
We discuss the known evidence for the conjecture that the Dolbeault cohomology of nilmanifolds with left-invariant complex structure can be computed as Lie-algebra cohomology and also mention some applications.
We consider semi-direct products $\C^{n}\ltimes_ϕN$ of Lie groups with lattices $Γ$ such that $N$ are nilpotent Lie groups with left-invariant complex structures. We compute the Dolbeault cohomology of direct sums of holomorphic line bundles over $G/Γ$ by using the Dolbeaut cohomology of the Lie algebras of the direct product $\C^{n}\times N$. As a corollary of this computation, we can compute the Dolbeault cohomology $H^{p,q}(G/Γ)$ of $G/Γ$ by using a finite dimensional cochain complexes. Computing some examples, we observe that the Dolbeault cohomology varies for choices of lattices $Γ$.
We view Dolbeault-Morse-Novikov cohomology H^{p,q}_η(X) as the cohomology of the sheaf Ω_{X,η}^p of η-holomorphic p-forms and give several bimeromorphic invariants. Analogue to Dolbeault cohomology, we establish the Leray-Hirsch theorem and the blow-up formula for Dolbeault-Morse-Novikov cohomology. At last, we consider the relations between Morse-Novikov cohomology and Dolbeault-Morse-Novikov cohomology, moreover, investigate stabilities of their dimensions under the deformations of complex structures. In some aspects, Morse-Novikov and Dolbeault-Morse-Novikov cohomology behave similarly with…
We use the Dolbeault cohomology to investigate the Koszul-Brylinski homology on holomorphic Poisson manifolds. We obtain the Leray-Hirsch theorem for Hochschild homology and the Mayer-Vietoris sequence, Künneth theorem for holomorphic Koszul-Brylinski homology. In particular, we show some relations of holomorphic Koszul-Brylinski homologies around a blow-up transformation for the general case (\emph{not necessarily compact}) by our previous works on the Dolbeault cohomology.
We construct a simply-connected compact complex non-Kähler manifold satisfying the $\partial\bar\partial$-Lemma, and endowed with a balanced metric. To this aim, we were initially aimed at investigating the stability of the property of satisfying the $\partial\bar\partial$-Lemma under modifications of compact complex manifolds and orbifolds. This question has been recently addressed and answered in \cite{rao-yang-yang, yang-yang, stelzig-blowup, stelzig-doublecomplex} with different techniques. Here, we provide a different approach using Čech cohomology theory to study the Dolbeault cohomology…
It is conjectured that the Dolbeault cohomology of a complex nilmanifold $X$ is computed by left-invariant forms. We prove this under the assumption that $X$ is suitably foliated in toroidal groups and deduce that the conjecture holds in real dimension up to six. Our approach generalises previous methods, where the existence of a holomorphic fibration was a crucial ingredient.
We consider nilmanifolds with left-invariant complex structure and prove that small deformations of such structures are again left invariant if the Dolbeault-cohomology of the nilmanifold can be calculated using left-invariant forms. By a result of Console and Fino this is generically the case. Our main tool is an analog of Dolbeault-cohomology for Lie-algebras with complex structure.
We prove a theorem of Leray-Hirsch type and give an explicit blow-up formula for Dolbeault cohomology on (\emph{not necessarily compact}) complex manifolds. We give applications to strongly $q$-complete manifolds and the $\partial\bar{\partial}$-lemma.
We construct a differential Gerstenhaber-Batalin-Vilkovisky algebra from Dolbeault complex of any close Kaehler manifold, and a Frobenius manifold structure on Dolbeault cohomology.
In this paper, we study the twisted basic Dolbeault cohomology and transverse hard Lefschetz theorem on a transverse Kahler foliation. And we give some properties for $Δ_κ$-harmonic forms and prove the Kodaira-Serre type duality for the twisted basic Dolbeault cohomology.
We give explicit harmonic representatives of Dolbeault cohomology of Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds and show that they are geometrically Dolbeault formal. We also give explicit harmonic representatives of Bott-Chern cohomology of Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds of type $(s,1)$ and study the Angella-Tomassini inequality.
We review the notion of relative Dolbeault cohomology and prove that it is canonically isomorphic with the local (relative) cohomology of A. Grothendieck and M. Sato with coefficients in the sheaf of holomorphic forms. We deal with this cohomology from two viewpoints. One is the Cech theoretical approach, which is convenient to define such operations as the cup product and integration and leads to the study of local duality. Along the way we also establish some notable canonical isomorphisms among various cohomologies. The other is to regard it as the cohomology of a certain complex, which is …
We define a transverse Dolbeault cohomology associated to any almost complex structure $j$ on a smooth manifold $M$. This we do by extending the notion of transverse complex structure and by introducing a natural j-stable involutive limit distribution with such a transverse complex structure. We relate this transverse Dolbeault cohomology to the generalized Dolbeault cohomology of (M,j) introduced by Cirici and Wilson, showing that the (p,0) cohomology spaces coincide. This study of transversality leads us to suggest a notion of minimally non-integrable almost complex structure.
We define the relative Dolbeault homology of a complex manifold with currents via a Čech approach and we prove its equivalence with the relative Čech-Dolbeault cohomology as defined in [T. Suwa, Čech-Dolbeault cohomology and the $\overline\partial$-Thom class, {\em Singularities---Niigata---Toyama 2007}, 321--340, Adv. Stud. Pure Math., \textbf{56}, Math. Soc. Japan, Tokyo, 2009. ]. This definition is then used to compare the relative Dolbeault cohomology groups of two complex manifolds of the same dimension related by a suitable proper surjective holomorphic map. Finally, an application to bl…
The loop space LP_1 of the Riemann sphere is an infinite dimensional complex manifold consisting of maps (loops) from S^1 to P_1 in some fixed C^k or Sobolev W^{k,p} space. In this paper we compute the Dolbeault cohomology groups H^{0,1}(LP_1).
In this paper, we study deformations of complex structures on Lie algebras and its associated deformations of Dolbeault cohomology classes. A complete deformation of complex structures is constructed in a way similar to the Kuranishi family. The extension isomorphism is shown to be valid in this case. As an application, we prove that given a family of left invariant deformations $\{M_t\}_{t\in B}$ of a compact complex manifold $M=(Γ\setminus G, J)$ where $G$ is a Lie group, $Γ$ a sublattice and $J$ a left invariant complex structure, the set of all $t\in B$ such that the Dolbeault cohomology o…
It is well known that cohomology of any non-trivial 1-dimensional local system on a nilmanifold vanishes (this result is due to L. Alaniya). A complex nilmanifold is a quotient of a nilpotent Lie group equipped with a left-invariant complex structure by an action of a discrete, co-compact subgroup. We prove a Dolbeault version of Alaniya's theorem, showing that the Dolbeault cohomology of a nilpotent Lie algebra with coefficients in any non-trivial 1-dimensional local system vanishes. Note that the Dolbeault cohomology of the corresponding local system on the manifold is not necessarily zero. …
For a simply connected (non-nilpotent) solvable Lie group $G$ with a lattice $Γ$ the de Rham and Dolbeault cohomologies of the solvmanifold $G/Γ$ are not in general isomorphic to the cohomologies of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak g$ of $G$. In this paper we construct, up to a finite group, a new Lie algebra $\tilde{\mathfrak g}$ whose cohomology is isomorphic to the de Rham cohomology of $G/Γ$ by using a modification of $G$ associated with a algebraic sub-torus of the Zariski-closure of the image of the adjoint representation. This technique includes the construction due to Guan and developed by t…
Let $G$ be a simply connected solvable Lie group with a lattice $Γ$ and the Lie algebra $\g$ and a representation $ρ:G\to GL(V_ρ)$ whose restriction on the nilradical is unipotent. Consider the flat bundle $E_ρ$ given by $ρ$. By using "many" characters $\{α\}$ of $G$ and "many" flat line bundles $\{E_α\}$ over $G/Γ$, we show that an isomorphism \[\bigoplus_{\{α\}} H^{\ast}(\g, V_α\otimes V_ρ)\cong \bigoplus_{\{E_α\}} H^{\ast}(G/Γ, E_α\otimes E_ρ)\] holds. This isomorphism is a generalization of the well-known fact:"If $G$ is nilpotent and $ρ$ is unipotent then, the isomorphism $H^{\ast}(\g, V_…

Consider the holomorphic Hamiltonian action of a compact Lie group $K$ on a compact Kähler manifold $M$ with a moment map $Φ: M\rightarrow \mathfrak{k}^*$. Assume that $0$ is a regular value of the moment map. Weitsman raised the question of what we can say about the cohomology of the Kähler quotient $M_0:=Φ^{-1}(0)/K$ if all the ordinary cohomology of $M$ is of type $(p, p)$. In this paper, using the Cartan-Chern-Weil theory we show that in the above context there is a natural surjective Kirwan map from an equivariant version of the Dolbeault cohomology of $M$ onto the Dolbeault cohomology of…
Given a compact Hermitian complex space with isolated singular points, we construct a Dolbeault-type Hilbert complex whose cohomology is isomorphic to the cohomology of the structure sheaf. We show that the corresponding K-homology class coincides with the one constructed by Baum-Fulton-MacPherson.
A locally conformally Kahler (LCK) manifold is a complex manifold with a Kahler structure on its covering and the deck transform group acting on it by holomorphic homotheties. One could think of an LCK manifold as of a complex manifold with a Kahler form taking values in a local system $L$, called the conformal weight bundle. The $L$-valued cohomology of $M$ is called Morse-Novikov cohomology. It was conjectured that (just as it happens for Kahler manifolds) the Morse-Novikov complex satisfies the $dd^c$-lemma. If true, it would have far-reaching consequences for the geometry of LCK manifolds.…
Let Y=G/L be a flag manifold for a reductive G and K a maximal compact subgroup of G. We define an equivariant differential operator on G/(L cap K) playing the role of an equivariant Dolbeault Laplacian when restricted to the complex manifold G/L, using a distribution transverse to the fibers and satisfying the Hormander condition. We prove here that this operator is not maximal hypoelliptic when G=U(p,q).
We use a sheaf-theoretic approach to obtain a blow-up formula for Dolbeault cohomology groups with values in the holomorphic vector bundle over a compact complex manifold. As applications, we present several positive (or negative) examples associated to the vanishing theorems of Girbau, Kawamata-Viehweg and Green-Lazarsfeld in a uniform manner and study the blow-up invariance of some classical holomorphic invariants.
We prove the Hodge symmetry type result on the Dolbeault cohomology of Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds with values in the direct sum of holomorphic line bundles. Consequently, we show the vanishing and non-vanishing of Dolbeault cohomology of Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds with values in holomorphic line bundles.
We give the complete Bott-Chern-Aeppli cohomology for compact complex 3-folds in terms of Dolbeault, Frolicher, a bi-degree DeRham-like type of cohomology, $K^{p,q}$, defined as $$ K^{p,q}=\frac{ker( \partial ) \cap ker( {\bar{\partial}}) }{im( \partial )\cap ker( {\bar{\partial}} )+im( {\bar{\partial}})\cap ker( \partial )}$$ and ${\check{H}}^1({\mathcal{PH}})$. (Here $\mathcal{PH}$ is the sheaf of phuri-harmonic functions.) We then work out the complete Bott-Chern-Aeppli cohomology in some examples. We give the Bott-Chern-Aeppli cohomology for a hypothetical complex structure on $S^6$ in ter…
In this paper we relate the cohomology of $J$-invariant forms to the Dolbeault cohomology of an almost complex manifold. We find necessary and sufficient condition for the inclusion of the former into the latter to be true up to isomorphism. We also extend some results obtained by J. Cirici and S.O. Wilson about the computation of the left-invariant cohomology of nilmanifolds to the setting of solvmanifolds. Several examples are given.
We prove a blow-up formula for Dolbeault cohomologies of compact complex manifolds by introducing relative Dolbeault cohomology. As corollaries, we present a uniform proof for bimeromorphic invariance of $(\bullet,0)$- and $(0,\bullet)$-Hodge numbers on a compact complex manifold, and obtain the equality for the numbers of the blow-ups and blow-downs in the weak factorization of the bimeromorphic map between two compact complex manifolds with equal $(1,1)$-Hodge number or equivalently second Betti number. Many examples of the latter one are listed. Inspired by these, we obtain the bimeromorphi…
Let $M= G/Γ$ be a compact nilmanifold endowed with an invariant complex structure. We prove that, on an open set of any connected component of the moduli space ${\cal C} ({\frak g})$ of invariant complex structures on $M$, the Dolbeault cohomology of $M$ is isomorphic to the one of the differential bigraded algebra associated to the complexification $\cg^\C$ of the Lie algebra of $G$. To obtain this result, we first prove the above isomorphism for compact nilmanifolds endowed with a rational invariant complex structure. This is done using a descending series associated to the complex structure…
The basic Dolbeault cohomology groups of a Sasakian manifold M are invariants of its characteristic foliation F (the orbit foliation of the Reeb flow). We show some fundamental properties of this cohomology, which are useful for its computation. In the first part of the article, we show that the basic Hodge numbers, the dimensions of the basic Dolbeault cohomology groups, only depend on the isomorphism class of the underlying CR structure. Equivalently, we show that the basic Hodge numbers are invariant under deformations of type I. This result reduces their computation to the quasi-regular ca…
We give an explicit description of the Bott-Chern cohomology groups of a compact Vaisman manifold in terms of the basic cohomology. We infer that the Bott-Chern numbers and the Dolbeault numbers of a Vaisman manifold determine each other. On the other hand, we show that the cohomological invariants $Δ^k$ introduced by Angella-Tomassini are unbounded for Vaisman manifolds. Finally, we give a cohomological characterization of the Dolbeault and Bott-Chern formality for Vaisman metrics.
Let ${\cal F}$ be a complex affine Reeb foliation of dimension $1$ on the Hopf manifold ${\Bbb S}^{n+1}\times {\Bbb S}^1$. We prove that its foliated Dolbeault cohomology in degree $1$ is isomorphic to ${\Bbb C}$ by giving an explicit generator.
We compute the Dolbeault cohomology of geodesically convex domains contained in Cousin groups which satisfy a strong dispersiveness condition. As a consequence we obtain a description of the Dolbeault cohomology of Oeljeklaus-Toma manifolds and in particular the fact that the Hodge decomposition holds for their cohomology.
We combine recent developments on weakly symmetric pseudo--riemannian nilmanifolds with with geometric methods for construction of unitary representations on square integrable Dolbeault cohomology spaces. This runs parallel to construction of discrete series representations on spaces of square integrable harmonic forms with values in holomorphic vector bundles over flag domains. Some special cases had been described by Satake in 1971 and the author in 1975. Here we develop a theory of pseudo--riemannian nilmanifolds of complex type and the nilmanifold versions of flag domains. We construct the…
There are three types of Dolbeault complexes arising from representations of holonomy group on a Riemannian manifold, two of which are dual to each other. Such a complex is elliptic if and only if its generator satisfies an algebraic condition. As applications, we give all Dolbeault complexes on a compact Riemannian manifold with exceptional holonomy. Each cohomology can be described by harmonic forms.
We identify two Frobenius manifolds obtained from two different differential Gerstenhaber-Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras on a compact Kaehler manifold. One is constructed on the Dolbeault cohomology, and the other on the de Rham cohomology. Our result can be considered as a generalization of the identification of the Dolbeault cohomology ring with the complexified de Rham cohomology ring on a Kaehler manifold.
We discuss in detail the different analogues of Dolbeault cohomology groups on Sasaki-Einstein manifolds and prove a new vanishing result for the transverse Dolbeault cohomology groups $H_{\bar\partial}^{(p,0)}(k)$ graded by their charge under the Reeb vector. We then introduce a new cohomology, $η$-cohomology, which is defined by a CR structure and a holomorphic function $f$ with non-vanishing $η\equiv \mathrm{d}f$. It is the natural cohomology associated to a class of supersymmetric type IIB flux backgrounds that generalise the notion of a Sasaki-Einstein manifold. These geometries are dual …
We prove the vanishing of the Dolbeault cohomology groups on Hermitian manifolds with $dd^c$-harmonic Kähler form and positive (1,1)-part of the Ricci form of the Bismut connection. This implies the vanishing of the Dolbeault cohomology groups on complex surfaces which admit a conformal class of Hermitian metrics, such that the Ricci tensor of the canonical Weyl structure is positive. As a corollary we obtain that any such surface must be rational with $c_1^2 >0$. As an application, the pth Dolbeault cohomology groups of a left-invariant complex structure compatible with a bi-invariant metric …
Let (M,I,J,K) be a hyperkahler manifold of real dimension 4n, and L a non-trivial holomorphic line bundle on (M,I). Using the quaternionic Dolbeault complex, we prove the following vanishing theorem for holomorphic cohomology of L. If the Chern class c_1(L) lies in the closure $\hat K$ of the dual Kahler cone, then $H^i(L)=0$ for i>n. If c_1(L) lies in the opposite cone $-\hat K$, then $H^i(L)=0$ for i<n. Finally, if $c_1(L)$ is neither in $\hat K$ nor in $-\hat K$, then $H^i(L)=0$ for $i\neq n$.
Motivated by orbifold string theory, we introduce orbifold cohomology group for any almost complex orbifold and orbifold Dolbeault cohomology for any complex orbifold. Then, we show that our new cohomology group satisfies Poincare duality and has a natural ring structure. Some examples of orbifold cohomology ring are computed.
In this paper we define coeffective de Rham cohomology for basic forms on a $K$--contact or Sasakian manifold $M$ and we discuss its relation with usually basic cohomology of $M$. When $M$ is of finite type (for instance it is compact) several inequalities relating some basic coeffective numbers to classical basic Betti numbers of $M$ are obtained. In the case of Sasakian manifolds, we define and study coeffective Dolbeault and Bott-Chern cohomologies for basic forms. Also, in this case, we prove some Hodge decomposition theorems for coeffective basic de Rham cohomology, relating this cohomolo…
In this paper we generalize the basic Lichnerowicz cohomology on transversally locally conformally Kählerian foliations and we study its relation with basic Bott-Chern cohomology and $0$--th basic Dolbeault cohomology with values in the associated foliated weight bundle.
We study certain foliated complex manifolds that behave similarly to complete nonsingular toric varieties. We classify them by combinatorial objects that we call marked fans. We describe the basic cohomology algebras of them in terms of corresponding marked fans. We also study the basic Dolbeault cohomology algebras of them.
We show that the exterior derivative operator on a symplectic manifold has a natural decomposition into two linear differential operators, analogous to the Dolbeault operators in complex geometry. These operators map primitive forms into primitive forms and therefore lead directly to the construction of primitive cohomologies on symplectic manifolds. Using these operators, we introduce new primitive cohomologies that are analogous to the Dolbeault cohomology in the complex theory. Interestingly, the finiteness of these primitive cohomologies follows directly from an elliptic complex. We calcul…
It has long been known that differential forms on complex manifolds can be decomposed under the action of the complex structure to give the Dolbeault complex. This paper presents an analogous double complex for quaternionic manifolds using the fact that the cotangent space is isomorphic to a quaternionic vector space. This defines an action of the group Sp(1) of unit quaternions on the cotangent space, which induces an action of Sp(1) on the space of k-forms. A double complex is obtained by decomposing the k-forms into irreducible representations of Sp(1), resulting in new 'quaternionic Dolbea…
Given a complex manifold $X$ and a smooth positive function $η$ thereon, we perturb the standard differential operator $d=\partial + \bar\partial$ acting on differential forms to a first-order differential operator $D_η$ whose principal part is $η\partial + \bar\partial$. The role of the zero-th order part is to force the integrability property $D_η^2=0$ that leads to a cohomology isomorphic to the de Rham cohomology of $X$, while the components of types $(0,\,1)$ and $(1,\,0)$ of $D_η$ induce cohomologies isomorphic to the Dolbeault and conjugate-Dolbeault cohomologies. We compute Bochner-Kod…
