In this paper we discuss and characterize several set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation obtained using skew lattices, an algebraic structure that has not yet been related to the Yang-Baxter equation. Such solutions are degenerate in general, and thus different from solutions obtained from braces and other algebraic structures. Our main result concerns a description of a set-theoretic solution of the Yang-Baxter equation, obtained from an arbitrary skew lattice. We also provide a construction of a cancellative and distributive skew lattice on a given family of pairwise disjoint sets.
For any algebra two families of coloured Yang-Baxter operators are constructed, thus producing solutions to the two-parameter quantum Yang-Baxter equation. An open problem about a system of functional equations is stated. The matrix forms of these operators for two and three dimensional algebras are computed. A FRT bialgebra for one of these families is presented. Solutions for the one-parameter quantum Yang-Baxter equation are derived and a Yang-Baxter system constructed.
The quantum Yang-Baxter equation admits generalisations to systems of Yang-Baxter type equations called Yang-Baxter systems. Starting from algebra structures, we propose new constructions of some constant as well as the spectral-parameter dependent Yang-Baxter systems. Besides, we also present explicitly the commutation algebra structure associated to the constant type in dimension two.
It is shown that all strongly symmetric elements are solutions of constant classical Yang-Baxter equation in Lie algebra, or of quantum Yang-Baxter equation in algebra. An explicit quantization is given of certain skew-symmetric solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter, yielding a family of $R$-matrices which generalize to higher dimensions the Jordanian $R$-matrices. Three different approaches to their construction are given: as twists of degenerations of the Shibukawa-Ueno Yang-Baxter operators on meromorphic functions; as boundary solutions of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation; via a vertex-IRF transformation from solutions to the dynamical Yang-Baxter equation.
Braces were introduced by W. Rump in 2006 as an algebraic system related to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation. In 2017, L. Guarnieri and L. Vendramin defined for the same purposes a more general notion of a skew left brace. Recently, L. Guo, H. Lang, Y. It is shown that a Yang-Baxter system can be constructed from any entwining structure. It is also shown that, conversely, Yang-Baxter systems of certain type lead to entwining structures. Examples of Yang-Baxter systems associated to entwining structures are given, and a Yang-Baxter operator of Hecke type is defined for any bijective entwining map.
Yang-Baxter operators from algebra structures appeared for the first time in [16], [17] and [8]. Later, Yang-Baxter systems from entwining structures were constructed in [5]. In this paper we show that an algebra factorisation can be constructed from a Yang-Baxter system.
Rota-Baxter operators and bialgebras go hand in hand in their applications, such as in the Connes-Kreimer approach to renormalization and the operator approach to the classical Yang-Baxter equation. We introduce the concept of {sigma, tau}-Rota-Baxter operator, as a twisted version of a Rota-Baxter operator of weight zero. We show how to obtain a certain {sigma, tau}-Rota-Baxter operator from a solution of the associative (Bi)Hom-Yang-Baxter equation, and, in a compatible way, a Hom-pre-Lie algebra from an infinitesimal Hom-bialgebra.
A dynamical Yang-Baxter map, introduced by Shibukawa, is a solution of the set-theoretical analogue of the dynamical Yang-Baxter equation. In this paper, we initiate a quiver-theoretical approach for the study of dynamical Yang-Baxter maps. Our key observation is that the category of dynamical sets over a set $Λ$, introduced by Shibukawa to establish a categorical framework to deal with dynamical Yang-Baxter maps, can be embedded into the category of quivers with vertices $Λ$. Generalized Yang-Baxter matrices sometimes give rise to braid group representations. We identify the exact images of some qubit representations of the braid groups from generalized Yang-Baxter matrices obtained from anyons in the metaplectic modular categories.
We explicitly determine all Rota-Baxter operators (of weight zero) on $sl(2,C)$ under the Cartan-Weyl basis. For the skew-symmetric operators, we give the corresponding skew-symmetric solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation in $sl(2,C)$, confirming the related study by Semenov-Tian-Shansky. An s-set is an algebraic generalization of the regular s-manifold introduced by Kowalski, one of the generalized symmetric spaces in differential geometry. We prove that suitable s-sets give birth to dynamical Yang-Baxter maps, set-theoretic solutions to a version of the quantum dynamical Yang-Baxter equation. As an application, Hopf algebroids and rigid tensor categories are constructed by means of these dynamical Yang-Baxter maps.
We introduce the concept of an extended O-operator that generalizes the well-known concept of a Rota-Baxter operator. We study the associative products coming from these operators and establish the relationship between extended O-operators and the associative Yang-Baxter equation, extended associative Yang-Baxter equation and generalized Yang-Baxter equation.

The aim of this paper is to introduce the notion of a mock-Lie bialgebra which is equivalent to a Manin triple of mock-Lie algebras. The study of a special case called coboundary mock-Lie bialgebra leads to the introduction the mock-Lie Yang-Baxter equation on a mock-Lie algebra which is an analogue of the classical Yang-Baxter equation on a Lie algebra. Note that a skew-symmetric solution of mock-Lie Yang-Baxter equation gives a mock-Lie bialgebra. Finally, the notation of $\mathcal O$-operators are studied to construct skew-symmetric solution of mock-Lie Yang-Baxter equation.
The (G, θ)-Lie algebras are structures which unify the Lie algebras and Lie superalgebras. We use them to produce solutions for the quantum Yang-Baxter equation. The constant and the spectral-parameter Yang-Baxter equations and Yang-Baxter systems are also studied.
It is shown that for a certain class of Yang-Baxter maps (or set-theoretical solutions to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation) the Lax representation can be derived straight from the map itself. A similar phenomenon for 3D consistent equations on quad-graphs has been recently discovered by A. Bobenko and one of the authors, and by F. Nijhoff.
Sufficient conditions for an invertible two-tensor $F$ to relate two solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation via the transformation $R\to F^{-1}_{21} R F$ are formulated. Those conditions include relations arising from twisting of certain quasitriangular bialgebras.
Motivated by recent work on Hom-Lie algebras and the Hom-Yang-Baxter equation, we introduce a twisted generalization of the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE), called the classical Hom-Yang-Baxter equation (CHYBE). We show how an arbitrary solution of the CYBE induces multiple infinite families of solutions of the CHYBE. We also introduce the closely related structure of Hom-Lie bialgebras, which generalize Drinfel'd's Lie bialgebras. In particular, we study the questions of duality and cobracket perturbation and the sub-classes of coboundary and quasi-triangular Hom-Lie bialgebras.
In this paper a class of new quantum groups is presented: deformed Yangians. They arise from rational solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation of the form $c_2 /u + const$ . The universal quantum $R$-matrix for a deformed Yangian is described. Its image in finite-dimensional representaions of the Yangian gives new matrix rational solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation (YBE).
In this paper, the relations between the Yang-Baxter equation and affine actions are explored in detail. In particular, we classify solutions of the Yang-Baxter equations in two ways: (i) by their associated affine actions of their structure groups on their derived structure groups, and (ii) by the C*-dynamical systems obtained from their associated affine actions. On the way to our main results, several other useful results are also obtained.

Notions of an (H, X)-bialgebroid and of its dynamical representation are proposed. The dynamical representations of each (H, X)-bialgebroid form a tensor category. Every dynamical Yang-Baxter map R(lambda) satisfying suitable conditions, a generalization of the set-theoretical solution to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation, gives birth to an (H, X)-bialgebroid A_R. The categories of L-operators for R(lambda) and of dynamical representations of A_R are isomorphic as tensor categories.
We investigate a class of non-involutive solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation which generalize self-distributive (derived) solutions. In particular, we study generalized multipermutation solutions in this class. We show that the Yang-Baxter (permutation) groups of such solutions are nilpotent. We show that for each semi-Riemannian locally symmetric space the curvature tensor gives rise to a rational solution $r$ of the classical Yang-Baxter equation with spectral parameter. For several Riemannian globally symmetric spaces $M$ such as real, complex and quaternionic Grassmann manifolds we explicitly compute solutions $R$ of the quantum Yang Baxter equations (represented in the tangent spaces of $M$) which generalize the quantum $R$-matrix found by Zamolodchikov and Zamolodchikov in 1979.
Employing the algebraic structure of the left brace and the dynamical extensions of cycle sets, we investigate a class of indecomposable involutive set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation having specific imprimitivity blocks. Given a skew left brace $B$, a method is given to construct all the non-degenerate set-theoretic solutions $(X,r)$ of the Yang Baxter equation such that the associated permutation group $\mathcal{G}(X,r)$ is isomorphic, as a skew left brace, to $B$. This method depends entirely on the brace structure of $B$. We then adapt this method to show how to construct solutions with additional properties, like square-free, involutive or irretractable solutions. Using this result, it is even possible to recover racks from their permutation group.

We study a twisted version of the Yang-Baxter Equation, called the Hom-Yang-Baxter Equation (HYBE), which is motivated by Hom-Lie algebras. Three classes of solutions of the HYBE are constructed, one from Hom-Lie algebras and the others from Drinfeld's (dual) quasi-triangular bialgebras. Each solution of the HYBE can be extended to operators that satisfy the braid relations. Assuming an invertibility condition, these operators give a representation of the braid group.
A homology theory is developed for set-theoretic Yang-Baxter equations, and knot invariants are constructed by generalized colorings by biquandles and Yang-Baxter cocycles.
We extend the Yang-Baxter cocycle invariants for virtual knots by augmenting Yang-Baxter 2-cocycles with cocycles from a cohomology theory associated to a virtual biquandle structure. These invariants coincide with the classical Yang-Baxter cocycle invariants for classical knots but provide extra information about virtual knots and links. In particular, they provide a method for detecting non-classicality of virtual knots and links.
The hierarchy of commuting maps related to a set-theoretical solution of the quantum Yang-Baxter equation (Yang-Baxter map) is introduced. They can be considered as dynamical analogues of the monodromy and/or transfer-matrices. The general scheme of producing Yang-Baxter maps based on matrix factorisation is discussed in the context of the integrability problem for the corresponding dynamical systems. Some examples of birational Yang-Baxter maps coming from the theory of the periodic dressing chain and matrix KdV equation are discussed.
By means of left quasigroups L=(L, .) and ternary systems, we construct dynamical Yang-Baxter maps associated with L, L, and (.) satisfying an invariance condition that the binary operation (.) of the left quasigroup L defines. Conversely, this construction characterize such dynamical Yang-Baxter maps. The unitary condition of the dynamical Yang-Baxter map is discussed. Moreover, we establish a correspondence between two dynamical Yang-Baxter maps constructed in this paper. This correspondence produces a version of the vertex-IRF correspondence.
In this paper, we initiate the study of the interplay between $k$-graphs and the Yang-Baxter equation. For this, we provide two very different perspectives. One one hand, we show that the set of all set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation is a special class of single-vertex $k$-graphs. As a consequence, we construct an infinite family of large solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation from an arbitrarily given one. We consider the modified (or twisted) Yang-Baxter equations for the $SL_{q}(N)$ groups and $SL_{q}(N|M)$ supergroups. The general solutions for these equations are presented in the case of the linear quantum (super)groups. The introduction of spectral parameters in the twisted Yang-Baxter equation and its solutions are also discussed.
In this paper, we determine all unitary solutions to the Yang-Baxter equation in dimension four. Quantum computation motivates this study. This set of solutions will assist in clarifying the relationship between quantum entanglement and topological entanglement. We study the Yang-Baxter equation for the $R$-matrices of the six-vertex model. We analyze the solutions and give new parametrizations of the Yang-Baxter equation. In particular, we find the maximal commutative families of parametrized solutions which generalize the $R$-matrices from the affine quantum (super)-groups.
