We consider a Yang-Mills-Higgs theory with gauge group $G=SU(n)$ broken to $G_{v} = [SU(p)\times SU(n-p)\times U(1)]/Z$ by a Higgs field in the adjoint representation. We obtain monopole solutions whose magnetic field is not in the Cartan Subalgebra. Since their magnetic field vanishes in the direction of the generator of the electromagnetic group $U(1)_{em}$, we call them Dark Monopoles. These Dark Monopoles must exist in some Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) without the need to introduce a dark sector. We analyze the particular case of $SU(5)$ GUT, where we obtain that their mass is $M = 4πv \widetilde{E}(λ/e^{2})/e$, where $\widetilde{E}(λ/e^{2})$ is a monotonically increasing function of $λ/e^{2}$ with $\widetilde{E}(0)=1.294$ and $\widetilde{E}(\infty)=3.262.$ We also give a geometrical interpretation to their non-abelian magnetic charge.
We use the $SU(5)$ model to show the presence in grand unified theories of an electroweak monopole and a magnetic dumbbell ("meson") made up of a monopole-antimonopole pair connected by a $Z$-magnetic flux tube. The monopole is associated with the spontaneous breaking of the weak $SU(2)_L$ gauge symmetry by the induced vacuum expectation value of a heavy scalar $SU(2)_L$ triplet with zero weak hypercharge contained in the adjoint Higgs 24-plet. This monopole carries a Coulomb magnetic charge of $(3/4) (2π/e)$ as well as $Z$-magnetic charge, where $2π/e$ denotes the unit Dirac magnetic charge. …
Grand unified theories of fundamental forces predict that magnetic monopoles are inevitable in the Universe because the second homotopy group of the order parameter manifold is $\mathbb{Z}$. We point out that monopoles can annihilate in pairs due to an influence of Alice strings. As a consequence, a monopole charge is charactarized by $\mathbb{Z}_2$ rather than $\mathbb{Z}$ if the Universe can accommodate Alice strings, which is the case of certain grand unified theories.
A simple formal computation, and a variation on an old thought experiment, both indicate that QCD with light quarks may confine fundamental color magnetic charges, giving an explicit as well as elegant resolution to the `global color' paradox, strengthening Vachaspati's SU(5) electric-magnetic duality, opening new lines of inquiry for monopoles in cosmology, and suggesting a class of geometrically large QCD excitations -- loops of Z(3) color magnetic flux entwined with light-quark current. The proposal may be directly testable in lattice gauge theory or supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. Recent…
We reconsider quantum gravitational threshold effects to the unification of fermion masses in Grand Unified Theories. We show that the running of the Planck mass can have a sizable effect on these thresholds which are thus much more important than naively expected. These corrections make any extrapolation from low energy measurements challenging.
We classify the standard model fermions, which originate from bulk fields of the $\bf{27}$ or $\bar{\bf{27}}$ representation after orbifold breaking, in $E_6$ grand unified theories on 5 or 6-dimensional space-time, under the condition that $q$, $e^c$ and $u^c$ survive as zero modes.
We consider Grand Unified Theories in which the hierarchy between the unification and the Fermi scale emerges radiatively. Within the Pati-Salam framework, we show that it is possible to construct a viable model where the Higgs is an elementary pseudo-Goldstone boson, and the correct hierarchy is generated.
Monopole operators play a central role in 3 dimensional supersymmetric dualities: a careful understanding of their spectrum is necessary to match chiral operators on either sides of a conjectured duality. In Chern-Simons theories ($k\neq0$), monopole operators acquire an electric charge, thus they need to be "dressed" by chiral matter superfields to be made gauge-invariant. Here we present strong evidence that "dressed" monopoles appear in $SU(N)$ chiral theories even for $k=0$ because of mixed CS terms generated along certain Coulomb branch directions. Our analysis is based on the dimensional…
A three-generation Pati-Salam model is constructed by compactifying the heterotic string on a particular T^6/Z_6 Abelian symmetric orbifold with two discrete Wilson lines. The compactified space is taken to be the Lie algebra lattice G_2+SU(3)+SO(4). When one dimension of the SO(4) lattice is large compared to the string scale, this model reproduces many features of a 5d SO(10) grand unified theory compactified on an S^1/Z_2 orbifold. (Of course, with two large extra dimensions we can obtain a 6d SO(10) grand unified theory.) We identify the orbifold parities and other ingredients of the orbif…
Yang-Mills theory is studied in a variant of 't Hooft's maximal Abelian gauge. In this gauge magnetic monopoles arise in the Abelian magnetic field. We show, however, that the full (non-Abelian) magnetic field does not possess any monopoles, but rather strings of magnetic fluxes. We argue that these strings are the relevant infrared degrees of freedom. The properties of the magnetic strings which arise from a dilute instanton gas are investigated for the gauge group SU(2).
Grand unified theories may display multiply interacting fields with strong coupling dynamics. This poses two new problems: (1) What is the nature of chaotic reheating after inflation, and (2) How is reheating sensitive to the mass spectrum of these theories ? We answer these questions in two interesting limiting cases and demonstrate an increased efficiency of reheating which strongly enhances non-thermal topological defect formation, including monopoles and domain walls. Nevertheless, the large fluctuations may resolve this monopole problem via a modified Dvali-Liu-Vachaspati mechanism in whi…
We prove that the values of the electroweak mixing angle $\sin^2θ_W$ and intermediate mass scale $M_I$ have vanishing contributions due to one-loop, two-loop and gravitational corrections in Grand Unified Theories which accommodate an intermediate trinification symmetry ($G_{333D}$) invoked with spontaneous D-parity mechanism operative at mass scale greater than $M_I$. The proof of theorem is robust and we verify the results numerically using supersymmetric as well as non-supersymmetric version of $E_6$-GUT.
We extend the unitary groups beyond the ${\rm SU}(5)$ and ${\rm SU}(6)$ to look for possible grand unified theories that give rise to three-generational Standard Model fermions without the simple repetition. By demanding asymptotic free theories at short distances, we find gauge groups of ${\rm SU}(7)$, ${\rm SU}(8)$ and ${\rm SU}(9)$ together with their anomaly-free irreducible representations are such candidates. Two additional gauge groups of ${\rm SU}(10)$ and ${\rm SU}(11)$ can also achieve the generational structure without asymptotic freedom. We also find these models can solve the Pecc…
We present a Grand Unified Theory (GUT) that has GUT fields with masses of the order of a TeV, but at the same time preserves (at the one-loop level) the success of gauge-coupling unification of the MSSM and the smallness of proton decay operators. This scenario is based on a five-dimensional theory with the extra dimension compactified as in the Randall-Sundrum model. The MSSM gauge sector and its GUT extension live in the 5D bulk, while the matter sector is localized on a 4D boundary.
We show how in the standard electroweak model three $SU(2)_L$ Nambu monopoles, each carrying electromagnetic (EM) and Z- magnetic fluxes, can merge (through Z-strings) with a single $U(1)_Y$ Dirac monopole to yield a composite monopole that only carries EM magnetic flux. Compatibility with the Dirac quantization condition requires this composite monopole to carry six quanta ($12 π/e$) of magnetic charge, independent of the electroweak mixing angle $θ_w$. The Dirac monopole is not regular at the origin and the energy of the composite monopole is therefore divergent. We discuss how this problem …
We present a gauge and Lorentz invariant model for the scattering of matter off magnetic poles, which justifies the presence of velocity-dependent magnetic charges as an effective description of either the behaviour of monopoles in scattering with matter or their production from matter particles at colliders. Hence, in such an approach, perturbativity of the magnetic charge is ensured for relative low velocities of monopoles with respect to matter particles. The model employs a ${\rm U(1)}_{\rm weak} \times {\rm U(1)}_{\rm strong}$ effective gauge field theory under which electrons and monopol…
We study monopole-instantons in M2-brane theories, focussing on the ABJM class of Chern-Simons gauge theories coupled to matter. We calculate calculate explicitly the 8-fermion term in the effective action induced by these monopole-instantons, and discuss their role in resolving a classical singularity in the moduli space. The results are compared with monopole-instantons in N=8 3d SYM and D-brane theories, as well the dual supergravity description as a membrane scattering process.
Itoyama-Tokura type USp matrix model is discussed. Non-Abelian Berry's phases in a T-dualized model of IT model were reconsidered. These phases describe the higher dimensional monopoles; Yang monopole and nine-dimensional monopole. They are described by the connections of the BPST instanton on S^4 and the Tchrakian-GKS instanton on S^8, respectively. As a preparation to understand their effect in original zero-dimensional model, we consider partition function of simplified matrix models. We compute partition functions of SU, SO and USp reduced matrix models. Groups SO and USp appear in low ene…
Recently, a type of GUT models with an extra dimension in AdS space can successfully solve the doublet-triplet problem, maintain proton stability, and allow the colored Higgs bosons and colored Higgsinos in the TeV mass region. We study the hadronic production and detection of these TeV colored Higgsinos and Higgs bosons. If the colored Higgsino is lighter than the colored Higgs boson, the colored Higgs boson will decay into a colored Higgsino and a gluino or a gravitino, and vice versa. The signatures would be stable massive charged particles with jets or missing energies.
We study supersymmetric $SO(N_c)$ gauge theories with $N_f$ flavors of quarks in the vector representation. Among the phenomena we find are dynamically generated superpotentials with physically inequivalent branches, smooth moduli spaces of vacua, confinement and oblique confinement, confinement without chiral symmetry breaking, massless composites (glueballs, exotics, monopoles and dyons), non-trivial fixed points of the renormalization group and massless magnetic quarks and gluons. Our analysis sheds new light on a recently found duality in $N=1$ supersymmetric theories. The dual forms of so…
Using properties of Goldstino, we show that in generic grand unified theories with gravity-mediated supersymmetry breaking the $μ$-problem is non-existent. What happens is that supersymmetry breaking universally induces the shifts of the heavy fields that generate $μ$ and $B_μ$ terms. In the leading order, these are given by the mass of gravitino and are insensitive to the scale of grand unification. The mechanism works regardless whether doublet-triplet splitting is achieved via fine-tuning or not. Moreover, we illustrate this general phenomenon on explicit examples of theories that achieve d…
Taken individually, magnetic monopoles and axions are both well-motivated aspects of physics beyond the Standard Model. We demonstrate that by virtue of the Witten effect, their interplay is furthermore nontrivial; monopoles break the corresponding axial symmetries explicitly and result in an axion potential lacking the usual instanton-derived exponential suppression factor. As axions are distinguished by their extremely weak interactions, any regime where their effects are enhanced may be of interest. As an application of these findings, we demonstrate that a phenomenologically acceptable pop…
A possible mechanism accounting for monopole configurations in continuum Yang-Mills theories is discussed. The presence of the gauge fixing term is taken into account.
We discuss monopole operators in $U(N_c)$ Chern-Simons-matter theories in three space-time dimensions. We mention an apparent problem in the matching of such operators in dualities between non-supersymmetric theories, and suggest a possible resolution. A similar apparent problem exists in the mapping of chiral monopole operators in theories with ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetry. We show that in many theories the lowest naive chiral monopole operator is actually not chiral, and we find the lowest monopole operator that is actually chiral in these theories. It turns out that there are several differen…
We construct classical solutions for magnetic monopole operators in N=6 superconformal Chern-Simons-matter theories. In particular, we explicitly find solutions with unequal magnetic flux contents in the two U(N) gauge groups, whose existence has been known only indirectly. We also study the ground state degeneracies of the U(2) x U(2) monopoles by quantizing the moduli of the solution.
Interactions of different types of topological defects can play an important role in the aftermath of a phase transition. We study interactions of fundamental magnetic monopoles and stable domain walls in a Grand Unified theory in which $SU(5) \times Z_2$ symmetry is spontaneously broken to $SU(3)\times SU(2)\times U(1)/Z_6$. We find that there are only two distinct outcomes depending on the relative orientation of the monopole and the wall in internal space. In one case, the monopole passes through the wall, while in the other it unwinds on hitting the wall.
A gauge transformation provided by the three eigenfunctions of $\B^a(x) \cdot \B^b(x)$ (where $\B^a(x)$, with a=1,2,3, are the non-Abelian magnetic fields) exposes the topological configurations of the Yang-Mills fields. In particular, it gives Dirac monopoles interacting with `photons' and massless charged vector bosons. A magnetic dipole field at each monopole corresponds to infinitesimal translation of the monopole, and provides the functional measure a la collective coordinates. The grand canonical partition function of the monopole plasma is exactly equivalent to a local field theory with…
We study three-dimensional N=4 gauge theories with product gauge groups constructed from ADE Dynkin diagrams. One-loop corrections to the metric on the Coulomb branch are shown to coincide with the metric on the moduli space of well-seperated ADE monopoles. We propose that this correspondence is exact.
We discuss and propose a proper extension of the Abelian projection based on the Maximal Abelian Gauge to SU(N) gauge theories. Based, on that, we investigate the properties of thermal Abelian monopoles in the deconfined phase of the SU(3) pure gauge theory. Such properties are very similar to those already found for SU(2), confirming the relevance of the magnetic component close to Tc and the possible condensation of thermal monopoles as the deconfinement temperature is crossed from above. Moreover, we study the correlation functions among monopoles related to different U(1) subgroups, which …
We review some recent developments on BPS string solutions and monopole confinement in the Higgs or (color) superconducting phase of deformed N=2 and N=4 super Yang-Mills theories. In particular, the monopole magnetic fluxes are shown to be always integer linear combinations of string fluxes. Moreover, a bound for the threshold length of the string breaking is obtained. When the gauge group SU(N) is broken to Z_N, the BPS string tension satisfies the Casimir scaling law. Furthermore in the SU(3) case the string solutions are such that they allow the formation of a confining system with three m…
Monopole operators in Abelian N=4 Chern-Simons theories described by circular quiver diagrams are investigated. The magnetic charges of non-diagonal U(1) gauge symmetries form the SU(p)xSU(q) root lattice where p and q are numbers of untwisted and twisted hypermultiplets, respectively. For monopole operators corresponding to the root vectors, we propose a correspondence between the monopole operators and states of a wrapped M2-brane in the dual geometry.
We compute R-charges of the BPS-monopole operators in $\mathcal{N} = 3$ $\widehat{ADE}$ Chern-Simons quiver gauge theories, along the lines of the work of Benna, Klebanov and Klose in \cite{bkk}. These theories have a weakly coupled UV completion in terms of $\mathcal{N}=3$ supersymmetric Chern-Simons Yang-Mills theories. In the UV limit the monopole operators are well approximated by classical solutions. We construct classical BPS and anti-BPS monopole solutions to these theories which preserve $\frac{1}{3}$ supersymmetry all along the RG flow. We compute the $SU(2)_R$ charges in these backgr…
We obtain BPS Z(2) monopole solutions in Yang-Mills-Higgs theories with the gauge group SU(n) broken to Spin(n)/Z(2) by a scalar field in the nxn representation. We show that the magnetic weights of the so-called fundamental Z(2) monopoles correspond to the weights of the defining representation of the algebra dual to so(n), and the masses of the nonfundamental BPS Z(2) monopoles are equal to the sum of the masses of the constituent fundamental monopoles. We also show that the vacua responsible for the existence of these Z(2) monopoles are present in the Higgs branch of a class of N=2 SU(n) su…
We investigate the connection between Color Confinement and thermal Abelian monopoles populating the deconfined phase of SU(2) Yang-Mills theory, by studying how the statistical properties of the monopole ensemble change as the confinement/deconfinement temperature is approached from above. In particular we study the distribution of monopole currents with multiple wrappings in the Euclidean time direction, corresponding to two or more particle permutations, and show that multiple wrappings increase as the deconfinement temperature is approached from above, in a way compatible with a condensati…
In the presence of Chern-Simons interactions the wave functionals of physical states in 2+1-dimensional gauge theories vanish at anumber of nodal points. We show that those nodes are located at some classical configurations which carry a non-trivial magnetic charge. In abelian gauge theories this fact explains why magnetic monopoles are suppressed by Chern-Simons interactions. In non-abelian theories it suggests a relevant role for nodal gauge field configurations in the confinement mechanism of Yang-Mills theories. We show that the vacuum nodes correspond to the chiral gauge orbits of reducib…
The Standard Model of particle physics may seem complicated and arbitrary, but it has hidden patterns that are revealed by the relationship between three "grand unified theories": theories that unify forces and particles by extending the Standard Model symmetry group U(1) x SU(2) x SU(3) to a larger group. These three theories are Georgi and Glashow's SU(5) theory, Georgi's theory based on the group Spin(10), and the Pati-Salam model based on the group SU(2) x SU(2) x SU(4). In this expository account for mathematicians, we explain only the portion of these theories that involves finite-dimens…
This review is devoted to the Multiple Point Principle (MPP), according to which several vacuum states with the same energy density exist in Nature. The MPP is implemented to the Standard Model (SM), Family replicated gauge group model (FRGGM) and phase transitions in gauge theories with/without monopoles. Lattice gauge theories are reviewed. The lattice results for critical coupling constants are compared with those of the Higgs Monopole Model (HMM), in which the lattice artifact monopoles are replaced by the point-like Higgs scalar particles with a magnetic charge. Considering our (3+1)-dime…
A method is proposed for generalizing the Euclidean Taub-NUT space, regarded as the appropriate background of the Dirac magnetic monopole, to non-Abelian Kaluza-Klein theories involving potentials of generalized monopoles. Usual geometrical methods combined with a recent theory of the induced representations governing the Taub-NUT isometries lead to a general conjecture where the potentials of the generalized monopoles of any dimensions can be defined in the base manifolds of suitable principal fiber bundles. Moreover, in this way one finds that apart from the monopole models which are of a sp…
A field theoretic description of monopole condensation in strongly coupled gauge theories is given by actions involving antisymmetric tensors B_{μν} of rank 2. We rederive the corresponding action for 4d compact QED, summing explicitly over all possible monopole configurations. Its gauge symmetries and Ward identities are discussed. Then we consider the Wilsonian RGs for Yang-Mills theories in the presence of collective fields (again tensors B_{μν}) for the field strengths F_{μν} associated to the U(1) subgroups. We show that a ``vector-like'' Ward identity for the Wilsonian action involving B…
Magnetic monopoles form an inspiring chapter of theoretical physics, covering a variety of surprising subjects. We review their role in non-abelian gauge theories. An expose of quite exquisite physics derived from a hypothetical particle species, because the fact remains that in spite of ever more tempting arguments from theory, monopoles have never reared their head in experiment. For many relevant particulars, references to the original literature are provided.
Phenomenologically appealing supersymmetric grand unified theories have large gauge representations and thus are not asymptotically free. Their ultraviolet validity is limited by the appearance of a Landau pole well before the Planck scale. One could hope that these theories save themselves, before the inclusion of gravity, by generating an interacting ultraviolet fixed point, similar to the one recently discovered in non-supersymmetric gauge-Yukawa theories. Employing a-maximization, a-theorem, unitarity bounds, as well as positivity of other central charges we nonperturbatively rule out this…
Monopole-like objects have been identified in multiple lattice studies, and there is now a significant amount of literature on their importance in phenomenology. Some analytic indications of their role, however, are still missing. The 't Hooft-Polyakov monopoles, originally derived in the Georgi-Glashow model, are an important dynamical ingredient in theories with extended supersymmetry ${\cal N} = 2,\,4$, and help explain the issues related with electric-magnetic duality. There is no such solution in QCD-like theories without scalar fields. However, all of these theories have instantons and t…
The coulomb branch of $N=4$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills gauge theories in $d=2+1$ is studied. A direct connection between gauge theories and monopole moduli spaces is presented. It is proposed that the hyper-Kähler metric of supersymmetric $N=4$ $SU(N)$ Yang-Mills theory is given by the charge $N$ centered moduli space of BPS monopoles in $SU(2)$. The theory is compared to $N=2$ supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions through compactification on a circle of the latter. It is found that rational maps are appropriate to this comparison. A BPS mass formula is also written for particles …
A tensor product generalisation of $B\wedge F$ theories is proposed to give a Bogomol'nyi structure. Non-singular, stable, finite-energy particle-like solutions to the Bogomol'nyi equations are studied. Unlike Yang-Mills(-Higgs) theory, the Bogomol'nyi structure does not appear as a perfect square in the Lagrangian. Consequently, the Bogomol'nyi energy can be obtained in more than one way. The added flexibility permits electric monopole solutions to the field equations.
Three dimensional topological field theories associated with the three dimensional version of Abelian and non-Abelian Seiberg-Witten monopoles are presented. These three dimensional monopole equations are obtained by a dimensional reduction of the four dimensional ones. The starting actions to be considered are Gaussian types with random auxiliary fields. As the local gauge symmetries with topological shifts are found to be first stage reducible, Batalin-Vilkovisky algorithm is suitable for quantization. Then BRST transformation rules are automatically obtained. Non-trivial observables associa…
Recently (hep-th/0104171) we considered N=2 super Yang-Mills with a N=2 mass breakingn term and showed the existence of BPS Z_{k}-string solutions for arbitrary simple gauge groups which are spontaneously broken to non-Abelian residual gauge groups. We also calculated their string tensions exactly. In doing so, we have considered in particular the hypermultiplet in the same representation as the one of a diquark condensate. In the present work we analyze some of the different phases of the theory and find that the magnetic fluxes of the monopoles are multiple of the fundamental Z_{k}-string fl…
We calculate instanton corrections to three dimensional gauge theories with N=4 and N=8 supersymmetry and SU(n) gauge groups. The N=4 results give new information about the moduli space of n BPS SU(2) monopoles, including the leading order non-pairwise interaction terms. A few comments are made on the relationship of the N=8 results to membrane scattering in matrix theory.
An "expanded" description is introduced to examine the spinor-monopole identification proposed by Strassler for four-dimensional $\cal N$ = 1 supersymmetric Spin(10) gauge theories with matter in F vector and N spinor representations. It is shown that a Z_2 monopole in the "expanded" theory is associated with massive spinors of the Spin(10) theory. For N=2, two spinor case, we confirm this identification by matching the transformation properties of the two theories under SU(2) flavor symmetry. However, for N $\ge$ 3, the transformation properties are not matched between the spinors and the mon…
We extend the hermitian three-algebra formulation of ABJM theory to include $U(1)$ factors. With attention payed to extra $U(1)$ factors, we refine the classification of $\N=6$ ABJM theories. We argue that essentially the only allowed gauge groups are $SU(N)\times SU(N)$, $U(N)\times U(M)$ and $Sp(N)\times U(1)$ and that we have only one independent Chern-Simons level in all these cases. Our argument is based on integrality of the $U(1)$ Chern-Simons levels and supersymmetry. A relation between monopole operators and Wilson lines in Chern-Simons theory suggests certain gauge representations of…
We propose explicit recipes to construct the euclidean Green functions of gauge-invariant charged, monopole and dyon fields in four-dimensional gauge theories whose phase diagram contains phases with deconfined electric and/or magnetic charges. In theories with only either abelian electric or magnetic charges, our construction is an euclidean version of Dirac's original proposal, the magnetic dual of his proposal, respectively. Rigorous mathematical control is achieved for a class of abelian lattice theories. In theories where electric and magnetic charges coexist, our construction of Green fu…
In the present talk we present an investigation of nonabelian SU(N) gauge theories, describing a system of fields with non--dual g and dual \tilde g charges and revealing the generalized dual symmetry. The Zwanziger type action is suggested. The renormalization group equations for pure nonabelian theories, in particular for pure SU(3)\times\widetilde{SU(3)} gauge theory (as an example) are analysed. We consider not only monopoles, but also dyons. The behaviour of the QCD total beta--function is investigated. It was shown that this beta--function is antisymmetric under the interchange α\leftrig…
We derive the low energy dynamics of monopoles and dyons in N=2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories with hypermultiplets in arbitrary representations by utilizing a collective coordinate expansion. We consider the most general case that Higgs fields both in the vector multiplet and in the hypermultiplets have nonzero vacuum expectation values. The resulting theory is a supersymmetric quantum mechanics which has been obtained by a nontrivial dimensional reduction of two-dimensional (4,0) supersymmetric sigma models with potentials.
This article overviews the recent developments in applying the idea of deconfined quantum criticality in condensed matter physics to understand quantum phase transitions among grand unified theories in high energy physics in the 4-dimensional spacetime. In particular, dictated by a mod 2 class nonperturbative global mixed gauge-gravitational anomaly, there can be a gapless deconfined quantum critical region between Georgi-Glashow and Pati-Salam models -- not only the Standard Model occurs as a neighbor phase, but also beyond the Standard Model phenomena (such as deconfined dark gauge force and…
A version of non-Abelian monopole equations is explored through dimensional reductions, with often the addition of algebraic conditions. On zero curvature spaces, spinor related extensions of integrable systems have been generated, and certain reduced one-dimensional systems have been discussed with respect to integrability, as well as solutions found.
We construct noncommutative versions of both the minimal and the new minimal supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories. The enveloping-algebra formalism is used to carry out such constructions. The beautiful formulation of the Higgs sector of these noncommutative theories is a consequence of fact that, in the GUTs at hand, the ordinary Higgs fields can be realized as elements of the Clifford algebra Cl10(C). In the noncommutative supersymmetric GUTs we formulate, supersymmetry is linearly realized by the noncommutative fields; but it is not realized by the ordinary fields that define those noncomm…
