In this paper, we introduce the concept of semi-continuous $g$-frames in Hilbert spaces. We first construct an example of semi-continuous $g$-frames using the Fourier transform of the Heisenberg group and study the structure of such frames. Then, as an application we provide some fundamental identities and inequalities for semi-continuous $g$-frames. Finally, we present a classical perturbation result and prove that semi-continuous $g$-frames are stable under small perturbations.
In this paper we introduce and prove some properties of $(α;β)$-normal operators according to semi-Hilbertian space structures. Furthermore we s,ate various inequalities between the A-operator norm and A-numerical radius of $(α,β)$-normal operators in semi Hilbertian spaces.
Let $0<α\leq 1$. We prove that a $α$-Kreiss bounded $C_0$ semigroup $(T_t)_{t \ge 0}$ on a Hilbert space has asymptotics $||T_t|| = O\big(t^α/\sqrt{log(t)}\big)$. Then, we give an application to perturbed wave equation.
The infinitesimal generator $A$ of a strongly continuous semigroup on a Hilbert space is assumed to satisfy that $B_β:=A-β$ is a sectorial operator of angle less than $\fracπ{2}$ for some $β\geq 0$. If $B_β$ is dissipative in some equivalent scalar product then the Naimark-Arocena Representation Theorem is applied to obtain a Kre\uın space unitary dilation of the semigroup.
Let $A$ be a positive bounded operator on a Hilbert space $\big(\mathcal{H}, \langle \cdot, \cdot\rangle \big)$. The semi-inner product ${\langle x, y\rangle}_A := \langle Ax, y\rangle$, $x, y\in\mathcal{H},$ induces a seminorm ${\|\cdot\|}_A$ on $\mathcal{H}$. Let ${\|T\|}_A,\ w_A(T),$ and $c_A(T)$ denote the $A$-operator seminorm, the $A$-numerical radius, and the $A$-Crawford number of an operator $T$ in the semi-Hilbertian space $\big(\mathcal{H}, {\|\cdot\|}_A\big)$, respectively. In this paper, we present some seminorm inequalities and equalities for semi-Hilbertian space operators. More…
The geometry of spaces with indefinite inner product, known also as Krein spaces, is a basic tool for developing Operator Theory therein. In the present paper we establish a link between this geometry and the algebraic theory of *-semigroups. It goes via the positive definite functions and related to them reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. Our concern is in describing properties of elements of the semigroup which determine shift operators which serve as Pontryagin fundamental symmetries
Let $A$ be a positive (semidefinite) operator on a complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ and let $\mathbb{A}=\left(\begin{array}{cc} A & O O & A \end{array}\right).$ We obtain upper and lower bounds for the $A$-Davis-Wielandt radius of semi-Hilbertian space operators, which generalize and improve on the existing ones. We also obtain upper bounds for the $\mathbb{A}$-Davis-Wielandt radius of $2 \times 2$ operator matrices. Finally, we determine the exact value for the $\mathbb{A}$-Davis-Wielandt radius of two operator matrices $\left(\begin{array}{cc} I & X\\ 0 & 0 \end{array}\right)$ and $\left(…
Suppose that S is a left amenable semitopological semigroup. We prove that if ${T_{t}: t \in S}$ is a uniformly k-Lipschitzian semigroup on a bounded closed and convex subset C of a Hilbert space and $k<\sqrt{2}$, then the set of fixed points of this semigroup is a Hölder continuous retract of C. This gives a qualitative complement to the Ishihara-Takahashi fixed point existence theorem.
New inequalities for the $A$-numerical radius of the products and sums of operators acting on a semi-Hilbert space, i.e. a space generated by a positive semidefinite operator $A$, are established. In particular, it is proved for operators $T$ and $S,$ having $A$-adjoint, that $$ ω_A(TS) \leq \frac{1}{2}ω_A(ST)+\frac{1}{4}\Big(\|T\|_A\|S\|_A+\|TS\|_A\Big),$$ where $ω_A(T)$ and $\|T\|_A$ denote the $A$-numerical radius and the $A$-operator seminorm of an operator $T$.
In this paper we generalize the concept of Davis-Wielandt shell of operators on a Hilbert space when a semi-inner product induced by a positive operator $A$ is considered. Moreover, we investigate the parallelism of $A$-bounded operators with respect to the seminorm and the numerical radius induced by $A$. Mainly, we characterize $A$-normaloid operators in terms of their $A$-Davis-Wielandt radii. In addition, a connection between $A$-seminorm-parallelism to the identity operator and an equality condition for the $A$-Davis-Wielandt radius is proved. This generalizes the well-known results in \c…
We analyse $C_0$-semigroups of contractive operators on real-valued $L^p$-spaces for $p \not= 2$ and on other classes of non-Hilbert spaces. We show that, under some regularity assumptions on the semigroup, the geometry of the unit ball of those spaces forces the semigroup's generator to have only trivial (point) spectrum on the imaginary axis. This has interesting consequences for the asymptotic behaviour as $t \to \infty$. For example, we can show that a contractive and eventually norm continuous $C_0$-semigroup on a real-valued $L^p$-space automatically converges strongly if $p \not\in \{1,…
Let $\{T(t)\}_{t\ge 0}$ be a $C_0$-semigroup on a separable Hilbert space $H$. We characterize that $T(t)$ is an $m$-isometry for every $t$ in terms that the mapping $t\in \Bbb R^+ \rightarrow \|T(t)x\|^2$ is a polynomial of degree less than $m$ for each $x\in H$. This fact is used to study $m$-isometric right translation semigroup on weighted $L^p$-spaces. We characterize the above property in terms of conditions on the infinitesimal generator operator or in terms of the cogenerator operator of $\{ T(t)\}_{t\geq 0}$. Moreover, we prove that a non-unitary $2$-isometry on a Hilbert space satisf…
In this note a review, some considerations and new results about maps with values in a distribution space and domain in a $σ$-finite measure space $X$, are obtained. In particular, it is a survey about Bessel, frames and bases (in particular Riesz and Gel'fand bases) in a distribution space. In this setting, the Riesz-Fischer maps and semi-frames are defined and new results about them are attained. Some example in tempered distributions space are examined.
Let $A$ be a positive bounded linear operator acting on a complex Hilbert space $\big(\mathcal{H}, \langle \cdot\mid \cdot\rangle \big)$. Let $ω_A(T)$ and ${\|T\|}_A$ denote the $A$-numerical radius and the $A$-operator seminorm of an operator $T$ acting on the semi-Hilbertian space $\big(\mathcal{H}, {\langle \cdot\mid \cdot\rangle}_A\big)$ respectively, where ${\langle x\mid y\rangle}_A := \langle Ax\mid y\rangle$ for all $x, y\in\mathcal{H}$. In this paper, we show that \begin{equation*}\label{m1} \tfrac{1}{4}\|T^{\sharp_A} T+TT^{\sharp_A}\|_A\le ω_A^2\left(T\right) \le \tfrac{1}{2}\|T^{\sh…
Let $A$ be a positive bounded operator on a Hilbert space $\big(\mathcal{H}, \langle \cdot, \cdot\rangle \big)$. The semi-inner product ${\langle x, y\rangle}_A := \langle Ax, y\rangle$, $x, y\in\mathcal{H}$ induces a semi-norm ${\|\cdot\|}_A$ on $\mathcal{H}$. Let ${\|T\|}_A$ and $w_A(T)$ denote the $A$-operator semi-norm and the $A$-numerical radius of an operator $T$ in semi-Hilbertian space $\big(\mathcal{H}, {\|\cdot\|}_A\big)$, respectively. In this paper, we prove the following characterization of $w_A(T)$ \begin{align*} w_A(T) = \displaystyle{\sup_{α^2 + β^2 = 1}} {\left\|α\frac{T + T^…
In this paper, we aim to introduce the notion of the spectral radius of bounded linear operators acting on a complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$, which are bounded with respect to the seminorm induced by a positive operator $A$ on $\mathcal{H}$. Mainly, we show that $r_A(T)\leq ω_A(T)$ for every $A$-bounded operator $T$, where $r_A(T)$ and $ω_A(T)$ denote respectively the $A$-spectral radius and the $A$-numerical radius of $T$. This allows to establish that $r_A(T)=ω_A(T)=\|T\|_A$ for every $A$-normaloid operator $T$, where $\|T\|_A$ is denoted to be the $A$-operator seminorm of $T$. Moreover,…
We give new inequalities for $A$-operator seminorm and $A$-numerical radius of semi-Hilbertian space operators and show that the inequalities obtained here generalize and improve on the existing ones. Considering a complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$ and a non-zero positive bounded linear operator $A$ on $\mathcal{H},$ we show with among other seminorm inequalities, if $S,T,X\in \mathcal{B}_A(\mathcal{H})$, i.e., if $A$-adjoint of $S,T,X$ exist then $$2\|S^{\sharp_A}XT\|_A \leq \|SS^{\sharp_A}X+XTT^{\sharp_A}\|_A.$$ Further, we prove that if $T\in \mathcal{B}_A(\mathcal{H})$ then \begin{eqnarr…
This paper considers universal Hilbert space operators in the sense of Rota, and gives criteria for universality of semigroups in the context of uniformly continuous semigroups and contraction semigroups. Specific examples are given. Universal semigroups provide models for these classes of semigroups: following a line of research initiated by Shimorin, models for concave semigroups are developed, in terms of shifts on reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces.
In this work, the mixed Schwarz inequality for semi-Hilbertian space operators is proved. Namely, for every positive Hilbert space operator $A$. If $f$ and $g$ are nonnegative continuous functions on $\left[0,\infty\right)$ satisfying $f(t)g(t) =t$ $(t\ge0)$, then \begin{align*} \left| {\left\langle {T x,y} \right\rangle_A } \right| \le \left\| {f\left( {\left| T \right|_A x} \right)} \right\|_A \left\| {g\left( {\left| {T^{\sharp_A } } \right|_A y} \right)} \right\|_A \end{align*} for every Hilbert space operator $T$ such that the range of $T^* A$ is a subset in the range of $A$, such that $A…
Let $\mathbb{B}(\mathcal{H})$ denote the $C^{\ast}$-algebra of all bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space $\big(\mathcal{H}, \langle\cdot, \cdot\rangle\big)$. Given a positive operator $A\in\B(\h)$, and a number $λ\in [0,1]$, a seminorm ${\|\cdot\|}_{(A,λ)}$ is defined on the set $\B_{A^{1/2}}(\h)$ of all operators in $\B(\h)$ having an $A^{1/2}$-adjoint. The seminorm ${\|\cdot\|}_{(A,λ)}$ is a combination of the sesquilinear form ${\langle \cdot, \cdot\rangle}_A$ and its induced seminorm ${\|\cdot\|}_A$. A characterization of Birkhoff--James orthogonality for operators with respect to th…
In this paper we establish the semi-Fredholm theory on Hilbert C*-modules as a continuation of Fredholm theory on Hilbert C*-modules established by Mishchenko and Fomenko. We give a definition of a semi-Fredholm operator on Hilbert C*-module and prove that these semi-Fredholm operators are those that are one-sided invertible modulo compact operators, that the set of proper semi-Fredholm operators is open and many other results that generalize their classical counterparts.
For a sequence of uniformly bounded, degenerate semigroups on a Hilbert space, we compare various types of convergences to a limit semigroup. Among others, we show that convergence of the semigroups, or of the resolvents of the generators, in the weak operator topology, in the strong operator topology or in certain integral norms are equivalent under certain natural assumptions which are frequently met in applications.
In this paper, the concept of Birkhoff--James orthogonality of operators on a Hilbert space is generalized when a semi-inner product is considered. More precisely, for linear operators $T$ and $S$ on a complex Hilbert space $\mathcal{H}$, a new relation $T\perp^B_A S$ is defined if $T$ and $S$ are bounded with respect to the seminorm induced by a positive operator $A$ satisfying ${\|T + γS\|}_A\geq {\|T\|}_A$ for all $γ\in \mathbb{C}$. We extend a theorem due to R. Bhatia and P. Šemrl, by proving that $T\perp^B_A S$ if and only if there exists a sequence of $A$-unit vectors $\{x_n\}$ in $\math…
We show that pure strongly continuous semigroups of adjointable isometries on a Hilbert C*-module are standard right shifts. By counter examples, we illustrate that the analogy of this result with the classical result on Hilbert spaces by Sz.-Nagy, cannot be improved further to understand arbitrary isometry semigroups of isometries in the classical way.
In this paper, we introduce the class of $(A,(m,n))$-isosymmetric operators and we study some of their properties, for a positive semi-definite operator $A$ and $ m,n\in\mathbb{ N}$, which extend, by changing the initial inner product with the semi-inner product induced by $A$, the well-known class of $(m,n)$-isosymmetric operators introduced by Mark Stankus (\cite{mark1}, \cite{mark}). In particular, we characterize a family of $A$-isosymmetric $(2\times2)$ upper triangular operator matrices. Moreover, we show that that if $T$ is $(A,(m,n))$-isosymmetric and if $Q$ is a nilpotent operator of …
The paper is aimed to establish the interdependence between linear expand-contract plasticity of an ellipsoid in a separable Hilbert spaces and properties of the set of its semi-axes.
We prove that for every semigroup of Schwarz maps on the von~Neumann algebra of all bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space which has a subinvariant faithful normal state there exists an associated semigroup of contractions on the space of Hilbert-Schmidt operators of the Hilbert space. Moreover, we show that if the original semigroup is weak$^*$ continuous then the associated semigroup is strongly continuous. We introduce the notion of the extended generator of a semigroup on the bounded operators of a Hilbert space with respect to an orthonormal basis of the Hilbert space. We describe th…
Families of quasi-permutable normal operators in octonion Hilbert spaces are investigated. Their spectra are studied. Multiparameter semigroups of such operators are considered. A non-associative analog of Stone's theorem is proved.
The Invariant Subset Problem on the Hilbert space is to know whether there exists a bounded linear operator $T$ on a separable infinite-dimensional Hilbert space $H$ such that the orbit $\{T^{n}x;\ n\ge 0\}$ of every non-zero vector $x\in H$ under the action of $T$ is dense in $H$. We show that there exists a bounded linear operator $T$ on a complex separable infinite-dimensional Hilbert space $H$ and a unitary operator $V$ on $H$, such that the following property holds true: for every non-zero vector $x\in H$, either $x$ or $Vx$ has a dense orbit under the action of $T$. As a consequence, we …
We study regularity properties for invariant measures of semilinear diffusions in a separable Hilbert space. Based on a pathwise estimate for the underlying stochastic convolution, we prove a priori estimates on such invariant measures. As an application, we combine such estimates with a new technique to prove the $L^1$-uniqueness of the induced Kolmogorov operator, defined on a space of cylindrical functions. Finally, examples of stochastic Burgers equations and thin-film growth models are given to illustrate our abstract result.
We obtain estimate of the exponential decay rate of semigroup associated with second order linear differential equation $u"+Du'+Au=0$ in Hilbert space. We assume that $A$ is a selfadjoint positive definite operator, $D$ is an accretive sectorial operator and $\Ree D\geqδA$, $δ>0$. We obtain a location of the spectrum of a pencil associated with linear differential equation.
We consider Banach spaces equipped with a set of strongly continuous bounded semigroups satisfying certain conditions. Using these semigroups we introduce an analog of a modulus of continuity and define analogs of Besov norms. A generalization of a classical interpolation theorem is proven in which the role of Sobolev spaces is played by subspaces defined in terms of infinitesimal operators of these semigroups. We show that our assumptions about a given set of semigroups are satisfied in the case of a strongly continuous bounded representation of a Lie group. In the case of a unitary represent…
In this paper, we introduce and study the frames in separable quaternionic Hilbert spaces. Results on the existence of frames in quaternionic Hilbert spaces have been given. Also, a characterization of frame in quaternionic Hilbert spaces in terms of frame operator is given. Finally, a Paley-Wiener type perturbation result for frames in quaternionic Hilbert space has been obtained.
We determine the structure of all bijections on the cone of positive semidefinite operators which preserve the quantum $f$-divergence for an arbitrary strictly convex function $f$ defined on the positive halfline. It turns out that any such transformation is implemented by either a unitary or an antiunitary operator.
We investigate rates of decay for $C_0$-semigroups on Hilbert spaces under assumptions on the resolvent growth of the semigroup generator. Our main results show that one obtains the best possible estimate on the rate of decay, that is to say an upper bound which is also known to be a lower bound, under a comparatively mild assumption on the growth behaviour. This extends several statements obtained by Batty, Chill and Tomilov (J. Eur. Math. Soc., vol. 18(4), pp. 853-929, 2016). In fact, for a large class of semigroups our condition is not only sufficient but also necessary for this optimal est…
Motivated by the work of T.E. Govindan in [5,8,9], this paper is concerned with a more general semilinear stochastic evolution equation. The difference between the equations considered in this paper and the previous one is that it makes some changes to the nonlinear function in random integral, which also depends on the probability distribution of stochastic process at that time. First, this paper considers the existence and uniqueness of mild solutions for such equations. Furthermore, Trotter-Kato approximation system is introduced for the mild solutions, and the weak convergence of induced p…
A theorem of J. Bochi and N. Gourmelon states that an invertible linear cocycle admits a dominated splitting if and only if the singular values of its iterates become separated at a uniform exponential rate. It is not difficult to show that for cocycles of non-invertible linear maps over an invertible dynamical system -- which we refer to as semi-invertible cocycles -- this criterion fails to imply the existence of a dominated splitting. In this article we show that a simple modification of Bochi and Gourmelon's singular value criterion is equivalent to the existence of a dominated splitting i…
