Using numerical bootstrap method, we determine the critical exponents of the minimal three-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal field theory (SCFT) to be $η_σ=0.168888(60)$ and $ω=0.882(9)$. The model was argued in arXiv:1301.7449 to describe a quantum critical point (QCP) at the boundary a $3+1$D topological superconductor. More interestingly, the QCP can be reached by tuning a single parameter, where supersymmetry (SUSY) is realised as an emergent symmetry. By imposing emergent SUSY in numerical bootstrap, we find that the conformal scaling dimension of the real scalar operator $σ$ is highly restricted. If we further assume the SCFT to have only two time-reversal parity odd relevant operators, $σ$ and $σ'$, we find that allowed region for $Δ_σ$ and $Δ_{σ'}$ becomes an isolated island. The result is obtained by considering not only the four point correlator $\langle σσσσ\rangle$, but also $\langle σεσε\rangle$ and $\langle εεεε\rangle$, with $ε\sim σ^2$ being the superconformal descendant of $σ$.
The analytic properties of the N = 2 superconformal index are given a physical interpretation in terms of certain BPS surface defects, which arise as the IR limit of supersymmetric vortices. The residue of the index at a pole in flavor fugacity is interpreted as the index of a superconformal field theory without this flavor symmetry, but endowed with an additional surface defect. The residue can be efficiently extracted by acting on the index with a difference operator of Ruijsenaars-Schneider type. By imposing the associativity constraints of S-duality, we are then able to evaluate the index …
We initiate the bootstrap program for $\mathcal{N}=3$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) in four dimensions. The problem is considered from two fronts: the protected subsector described by a $2d$ chiral algebra, and crossing symmetry for half-BPS operators whose superconformal primaries parametrize the Coulomb branch of $\mathcal{N}=3$ theories. With the goal of describing a protected subsector of a family of $\mathcal{N}=3$ SCFTs, we propose a new $2d$ chiral algebra with super Virasoro symmetry that depends on an arbitrary parameter, identified with the central charge of the theory. Turni…
We use the numerical conformal bootstrap to study six-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=(1,0)$ superconformal field theories with flavor symmetry $\mathfrak{so}_{4k}$. We present evidence that minimal $(D_k, D_k)$ conformal matter saturates the unitarity bounds for arbitrary $k$. Furthermore, using the extremal-functional method, we check that the chiral-ring relations are correctly reproduced, extract the anomalous dimensions of low-lying long superconformal multiplets, and find hints for novel OPE selection rules involving type-$\mathcal{B}$ multiplets.
The numerical conformal bootstrap is used to study mixed correlators in $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) in $d=4$ spacetime dimensions. Systems of four-point functions involving scalar chiral and real operators are analyzed, including the case where the scalar real operator is the zero component of a global conserved current multiplet. New results on superconformal blocks as well as universal constraints on the space of 4D $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs with chiral operators are presented. At the level of precision used, the conditions under which the putative "minimal" 4D $\mathca…
We study half-BPS line defects in $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal theories using the bootstrap approach. We concentrate on local excitations constrained to the defect, which means the system is a $1d$ defect CFT with $\mathfrak{osp}(4^*|2)$ symmetry. In order to study correlation functions we construct a suitable superspace, and then use the Casimir approach to calculate a collection of new superconformal blocks. Special emphasis is given to the displacement operator, which controls deformations orthogonal to the defect and is always present in a defect CFT. After setting up the crossing equati…
We use modern bootstrap techniques to study half-BPS line defects in 4d N=4 superconformal theories. Specifically, we consider the 1d CFT with OSP(4*|4) superconformal symmetry living on such a defect. Our analysis is general and based only on symmetries, it includes however important examples like Wilson and 't Hooft lines in N=4 super Yang-Mills. We present several numerical bounds on OPE coefficients and conformal dimensions. Of particular interest is a numerical island obtained from a mixed correlator bootstrap that seems to imply a unique solution to crossing. The island is obtained if so…
We describe a new approach to computing the chiral part of correlation functions of stress-tensor supermultiplets in N=4 SYM that relies on symmetries, analytic properties and the structure of the OPE only. We demonstrate that the correlation functions are given by a linear combination of chiral N=4 superconformal invariants accompanied by coefficient functions depending on the space-time coordinates only. We present the explicit construction of these invariants and show that the six-point correlation function is fixed in the Born approximation up to four constant coefficients by its symmetrie…
We study the constraints imposed by superconformal symmetry, crossing symmetry, and unitarity for theories with four supercharges in spacetime dimension $2\leq d\leq 4$. We show how superconformal algebras with four Poincaré supercharges can be treated in a formalism applicable to any, in principle continuous, value of $d$ and use this to construct the superconformal blocks for any $d\leq 4$. We then use numerical bootstrap techniques to derive upper bounds on the conformal dimension of the first unprotected operator appearing in the OPE of a chiral and an anti-chiral superconformal primary. W…
We compute the superconformal partial waves of the four-point correlator $\langle JJJJ\rangle$, in which the external operator $J$ is the superconformal primary of the $4D$ $\mathcal{N}=2$ stress-tensor multiplet $\mathcal{J}$. We develop the superembedding formalism for the superconformal field theories (SCFTs) with extended supersymmetry. In $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs, the three-point functions $\langle \mathcal{J}\mathcal{J}\mathcal{O}\rangle$ with general multiplet $\mathcal{O}$ contain two independent nilpotent superconformal invariants and new superconformal tensor structures, which can be ni…
We use supershadow methods to derive new expressions for superconformal blocks in 4d $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal field theories. We analyze the four-point function $\langle\mathcal{A}_1 \mathcal{A}_2^\dagger \mathcal{B}_1 \mathcal{B}_2^\dagger\rangle$, where $\mathcal{A}_i$ and $\mathcal{B}_i$ are scalar superconformal primary operators with arbitrary dimension and $R$-charge and the exchanged operator is neutral under $R$-symmetry. Previously studied superconformal blocks for chiral operators and conserved currents are special cases of our general results.
We compute the most general superconformal blocks for scalar operators in $4\mathcal{D}$ $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal field theories. Specifically we employ the supershadow formalism to study the four-point correlator $\langleΦ_1 Φ_2 Φ_3 Φ_4\rangle$, in which the four scalars $Φ_i$ have arbitrary scaling dimensions and R-charges with the only constraint from R-symmetry invariance of the four-point function. The exchanged operators can have arbitrary R-charges. Our results extend previous studies on $4\mathcal{D}$ $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconmformal blocks to the most general case, which are the …
We apply the numerical conformal bootstrap to correlators of Coulomb and Higgs branch operators in $4d$ $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal theories. We start by revisiting previous results on single correlators of Coulomb branch operators. In particular, we present improved bounds on OPE coefficients for some selected Argyres-Douglas models, and compare them to recent work where the same cofficients were obtained in the limit of large $r$ charge. There is solid agreement between all the approaches. The improved bounds can be used to extract an approximate spectrum of the Argyres-Douglas models, wh…
We apply the numerical bootstrap program to chiral operators in four-dimensional ${\mathcal N}=2$ SCFTs. In the first part of this work we study four-point functions in which all fields have the same conformal dimension. We give special emphasis to bootstrapping a specific theory: the simplest Argyres-Douglas fixed point with no flavor symmetry. In the second part we generalize our setup and consider correlators of fields with unequal dimension. This is an example of a mixed correlator and allows us to probe new regions in the parameter space of ${\mathcal N}=2$ SCFTs. In particular, our resul…
Based on the structure of the three-dimensional superconformal algebra we show that every irreducible ${\mathcal N}=6$ three-dimensional superconformal theory containes exactly one conserved U(1)-symmetry current in the stress tensor supermultiplet and that superconformal symmetry of every ${\mathcal N}=7$ superconformal theory is in fact enhanced to ${\mathcal N}=8$. Moreover, an irreducible ${\cal N}=8$ superconformal theory does not have any global symmetries. The first observation explains why all known examples of ${\mathcal N}=6$ superconformal theories have a global abelian symmetry.
The most general large ${\cal N}=4$ superconformal ${\cal W}_{\infty}$ algebra, containing in addition to the superconformal algebra one supermultiplet for each integer spin, is analysed in detail. It is found that the ${\cal W}_{\infty}$ algebra is uniquely determined by the levels of the two $\mathfrak{su}(2)$ algebras, a conclusion that holds both for the linear and the non-linear case. We also perform various cross-checks of our analysis, and exhibit two different types of truncations in some detail.
The SuperConformal theory in three space-time dimensions with SO(16) $R$-symmetry, 128 bosons, and 128 fermions, cannot sustain interactions. This result is obtained using both light-cone superspace techniques which rely on algebraic consistency, and covariant methods which rely on SO(16) Fierz identities which fail to produce the desired algebra.
In this work we initiate the conformal bootstrap program for ${\mathcal N}=2$ superconformal field theories in four dimensions. We promote an abstract operator-algebraic viewpoint in order to unify the description of Lagrangian and non-Lagrangian theories, and formulate various conjectures concerning the landscape of theories. We analyze in detail the four-point functions of flavor symmetry current multiplets and of ${\mathcal N}=2$ chiral operators. For both correlation functions we review the solution of the superconformal Ward identities and describe their superconformal block decomposition…
Using superspace techniques, we compute the mixed OPE between an ${\mathcal N}=2$ stress-tensor multiplet, a chiral multiplet and a flavor current multiplet. We perform a detailed analysis of the three-point function between two of the mentioned multiplets and a third arbitrary operator. We then solve all the constraints coming from the ${\mathcal N}=2$ superconformal symmetry and from the equations of motion and/or conservation equations, and obtain all the possible operators that can appear in the expansion. This calculation is the first step towards a more general superconformal block analy…
Any four-dimensional $\mathcal{N} \geqslant 2$ superconformal field theory possess a protected subsector isomorphic to a two-dimensional chiral algebra \cite{Beem:2013sza}. The goal of these lectures is to provide an introduction to the subject, covering the construction of the chiral algebras, the consequences for four-dimensional physics, as well as a brief summary of recent progress. This is the writeup of the lectures given at the Winter School "YRISW 2020" to appear in a special issue of JPhysA.
We propose a new duality between two 3d $\mathcal{N}=8$ superconformal Chern-Simons-matter theories: the $U(3)_1 \times U(3)_{-1}$ ABJM theory and a theory consisting of the product between the $\left(SU(2)_3\times SU(2)_{-3}\right)/\mathbb{Z}_2$ BLG theory and a free ${\cal N} = 8$ theory of eight real scalars and eight Majorana fermions. As evidence supporting this duality, we show that the moduli spaces, superconformal indices, $S^3$ partition functions, and certain OPE coefficients of BPS operators in the two theories agree.
We study the quantum Seiberg-Witten periods of ${\cal N}=2$ superconformal field theories which are obtained by taking the scaling limit of ${\cal N}=2$ $SU(N_c)$ SQCD around the superconformal fixed point. The quantum Seiberg-Witten curves of these superconformal field theories are shown to be classified into the Schrödinger type and the SQCD type, which depend on flavor symmetry at the fixed point. We study the quantum periods and compute the differential operators which relate the quantum periods to the classical ones up to the fourth-order in the deformation parameter.
In $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal theories in four dimensions the two-point function of superconformal multiplets is known up to an overall constant. A superconformal multiplet contains several conformal primary operators, whose two-point function coefficients can be determined in terms of the multiplet's quantum numbers. In this paper we work out these coefficients in full generality, i.e. for superconformal multiplets that belong to any irreducible representation of the Lorentz group with arbitrary scaling dimension and R-charge. From our results we recover the known unitarity bounds, and al…
We study the Argyres-Douglas theories realized at the superconformal point in the Coulomb moduli space of $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetric $SU(2)$ QCD with $N_f=1,2,3$ hypermultiplets in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit of the Omega-background. The Seiberg-Witten curve of the theory is quantized in this limit and the periods receive the quantum corrections. By applying the WKB method for the quantum Seiberg-Witten curve, we calculate the quantum corrections to the Seiberg-Witten periods around the superconformal point up to the fourth order in the parameter of the Omega background.
Using numerical bootstrap method, we determine the critical exponents of the minimal three-dimensional N = 1 Wess-Zumino models with cubic superpotetential $W\sim d_{ijk}Φ_iΦ_jΦ_k$. The tensor $d_{ijk}$ is taken to be the invariant tensor of either permutation group $S_N$, special unitary group $SU(N)$, or a series of groups called F4 family of Lie groups. Due to the equation of motion, at the Wess-Zumino fixed point, the operator $d_{ijk}Φ_iΦ_jΦ_k$ is a (super)descendant of $Φ_i$ . We observe such super-multiplet recombination in numerical bootstrap, which allows us to determine the scaling d…
In this paper we consider unitary highest weight irreducible representations of the `Large' $\mathcal{N}=4$ superconformal algebra $A_γ$ in the Ramond sector as infinite-dimensional graded modules of its zero mode subalgebra, $\mathfrak{su}(2|2)$. We describe how representations of $\mathfrak{su}(2|2)$ may be classified using Young supertableaux, and use the decomposition of $A_γ$ as an $\mathfrak{su}(2|2)$ module to discuss the states which contribute to the supersymmetric index $I_1$, previously proposed in the literature by Gukov, Martinec, Moore and Strominger.
Supersymmetric partition function of $\mathcal N=1$ superconformal theories on $S^1_β \times S^3$ is related to the superconformal index receiving contributions from short representations. The leading coefficients in the small $β$ (high "temperature") expansion of the index were previously related to the conformal anomaly coefficients of the theory. Assumptions underlying universality of these relations were tested only for simplest low-spin unitary multiplets. Here we consider examples of higher derivative non-unitary $\mathcal N=1$ multiplets that naturally appear in the context of extended …
We compute superconformal indices for $\mathcal{N} = 3$ $\hat{ADE}$ Chern-Simons quiver gauge theories with a product gauge group $\prod_i U(N)_i$, using the method of supersymmetric localization. We also perform a large $N$ analysis of the index. This index includes contribution from non zero magnetic flux sector. The fact that these theories have a weakly coupled UV completion in terms of $\mathcal{N}= 3$ supersymmetric Chern-Simons Yang-Mills theories enables us to apply the localization technique. Such theories have dual M-theory description on $\mathrm{AdS}_4\times M_7$, where $M_7$ is a …
We complete the program of 2012.15792 about perturbative approaches for $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal quiver theories in four dimensions. We consider several classes of observables in presence of Wilson loops, and we evaluate them with the help of supersymmetric localization. We compute Wilson loop vacuum expectation values, correlators of multiple coincident Wilson loops and one-point functions of chiral operators in presence of them acting as superconformal defects. We extend this analysis to the most general case considering chiral operators and multiple Wilson loops scattered in all the p…
This study presents comprehensive examples of $\mathfrak{osp}(\mathcal{N}|2)$ Chern$\,-\,$Simons supergravity on $AdS_3$ for $\mathcal{N}>2$. These formulations, which include the most general boundary conditions, represent extensions of previously discovered works $(\textit{Ozer and Filiz$,$Eur Phys J C 82(5):472, 2022})$ for $\mathcal{N}<3$. In our work, we show that under the loosest set of boundary conditions, the asymptotic symmetry algebras consist of two copies of the $\mathfrak{osp}(3|2)_k$ and $\mathfrak{osp}(4|2)_k$ algebras. We subsequently restrict the gauge fields upon the boundar…
We study two-point functions of single-trace half-BPS operators in the presence of a supersymmetric Wilson line in $\mathcal{N}=4$ SYM. We use inversion formula technology in order to reconstruct the CFT data starting from a single discontinuity of the correlator. In the planar strong coupling limit only a finite number of conformal blocks contributes to the discontinuity, which allows us to obtain elegant closed-form expressions for two-point functions of single-trace operators $\mathcal{O}_J$ of weight $J=2,3,4$. Our final result passes a number of non-trivial consistency checks: it has the …
How much spectral information is needed to determine the correlation functions of a conformal theory? We study this question in the context of planar supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory, where integrability techniques accurately determine the single-trace spectrum at finite 't Hooft coupling. Corresponding OPE coefficients are constrained by dispersive sum rules, which implement crossing symmetry. Focusing on correlators of four stress-tensor multiplets, we construct combinations of sum rules which determine one-loop correlators, and we study a numerical bootstrap problem that nonperturbatively b…
We calculate the trace and axial anomalies of $\mathcal{N}=(2,2)$ superconformal theories with exactly marginal deformations, on a surface with boundary. Extending recent work by Gomis et al, we derive the boundary contribution that captures the anomalous scale dependence of the one-point functions of exactly marginal operators. Integration of the bulk super-Weyl anomaly shows that the sphere partition function computes the Kähler potential $K(λ, \barλ)$ on the superconformal manifold. Likewise, our results confirm the conjecture that the partition function on the supersymmetric hemisphere com…
We present prescriptions for obtaining the central charges, $a$ and $c$, of a four dimensional superconformal quantum field theory from the superconformal index. At infinite $N$, for holographic theories dual to Sasaki-Einstein 5-manifolds the prescriptions give the $\mathcal{O}(1)$ parts of the central charges. This allows us, among other things, to show the exact AdS/CFT matching of $a$ and $c$ for arbitrary toric quiver CFTs without adjoint matter that are dual to smooth Sasaki-Einstein 5-manifolds. In addition, we include evidence from non-holographic theories for the applicability of thes…
This paper focuses on the analysis of $4d$ $\mathcal{N}=4$ superconformal theories in the presence of a defect from the point of view of the conformal bootstrap. We will concentrate first on the case of codimension one, where the defect is a boundary that preserves half of the supersymmetry. After studying the constraints imposed by supersymmetry, we will obtain the Ward identities associated to two-point functions of $\tfrac{1}{2}$-BPS operators and write their solution as a superconformal block expansion. Due to a surprising connection between spacetime and R-symmetry conformal blocks, our r…
We consider a family of $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theories in four dimensions, defined as $\mathbb{Z}_q$ orbifolds of $\mathcal{N}=4$ Super Yang-Mills theory. We compute the chiral/anti-chiral correlation functions at a perturbative level, using both the matrix model approach arising from supersymmetric localisation on the four-sphere and explicit field theory calculations on the flat space using the $\mathcal{N}=1$ superspace formalism. We implement a highly efficient algorithm to produce a large number of results for finite values of $N$, exploiting the symmetries of the quiver to…
We study the entropy associated with the Janus interface in a 4$d$ $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theory. With the entropy defined as the interface contribution to an entanglement entropy we show, under mild assumptions, that the Janus interface entropy is proportional to the geometric quantity called Calabi's diastasis on the space of $\mathcal{N}=2$ marginal couplings, confirming an earlier conjecture by two of the authors and generalizing a similar result in two dimensions. Our method is based on a CFT consideration that makes use of the Casini-Huerta-Myers conformal map from the flat…
We combine supersymmetric localization results with numerical bootstrap techniques to compute upper bounds on the low-lying CFT data of ${\cal N} = 4$ super-Yang-Mills theory as a function of the complexified gauge coupling $τ$. In particular, from the stress tensor multiplet four-point function, we extract the scaling dimension of the lowest-lying unprotected scalar operator and its OPE coefficient. While our method can be applied in principle to any gauge group $G$, we focus on $G = SU(2)$ and $SU(3)$ for simplicity. At weak coupling, the upper bounds we find are very close to the correspond…
Recently, the conformal-bootstrap has been successfully used to obtain generic bounds on the spectrum and OPE coefficients of unitary conformal field theories. In practice, these bounds are obtained by assuming the existence of a scalar operator in the theory and analyzing the crossing-symmetry constraints of its 4-point function. In $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal theories with a global symmetry there is always a scalar primary operator, which is the top of the current-multiplet. In this paper we analyze the crossing-symmetry constraints of the 4-point function of this operator for $\mathcal{N…
We present $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal $\mathsf{U}(1)$ duality-invariant models for an Abelian vector multiplet coupled to conformal supergravity. In a Minkowski background, such a nonlinear theory is expected to describe (the planar part of) the low-energy effective action for the $\mathcal{N}=4$ $\mathsf{SU}(N)$ super-Yang-Mills (SYM) theory on its Coulomb branch where (i) the gauge group $\mathsf{SU}(N)$ is spontaneously broken to $\mathsf{SU}(N-1) \times \mathsf{U}(1)$; and (ii) the dynamics is captured by a single $\mathcal{N}=2$ vector multiplet associated with the $\mathsf{U}(1)$ fac…
In a four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal quiver theory with gauge group $\mathrm{SU}(N)\times\mathrm{SU}(N)$ and bi-fundamental matter, we analytically obtain the exact strong-coupling behavior of the normalized 3-point correlators of single-trace scalar operators in the large-$N$ limit using localization techniques. We then obtain the same strong-coupling behavior from the holographic dual using the AdS/CFT correspondence at the supergravity level. This agreement confirms the validity of the analytic strong-coupling results and of the holographic correspondence in a non-maximally …
Superconformal field theory with $\mathcal{N}=2$ supersymmetry in four dimensional spacetime provides a prime playground to study strongly coupled phenomena in quantum field theory. Its rigid structure ensures valuable analytic control over non-perturbative effects, yet the theory is still flexible enough to incorporate a large landscape of quantum systems. Here we aim to offer a guidebook to fundamental features of the 4d $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theories and basic tools to construct them in string/M-/F-theory. The content is based on a series of lectures at the Quantum Field Theo…
We investigate the holographic Rényi entropy for two-dimensional $\mathcal N=(2,2)$ superconformal field theory (SCFT), which is dual to $\mathcal N=2$ supergravity in AdS$_3$ background. In SCFT we have the stress tensor, current, and their supersymmetric partners, and in supergravity we have the graviton, vector field, and two gravitinos. We get the Rényi mutual information of two short intervals on complex plane in expansion by the cross ratio $x$ to order $x^4$, and Rényi entropy of one interval on torus in expansion by $q=\exp(-2πβ/L)$, with $β$ being the inverse temperature and $L$ being…
We present a new multiparticle model of $\mathcal{N}{=}\,8$ mechanics with superconformal $F(4)$ symmetry. The system is constructed in terms of two matrix $\mathcal{N}{=}\,4$ multiplets. One of them is a bosonic matrix $({\bf 1, 4, 3})$ multiplet and another is a fermionic $({\bf 0, 4, 4})$ one. Off-diagonal bosonic components of the $({\bf 1, 4, 3})$ multiplet are chosen to take values in the flag manifold $\mathrm{U}(n)/[\mathrm{U}(1)]^n$ and they carry additional gauge symmetries. The explicit form of the $F(4)$ supersymmetry generators is found. We demonstrate that the $F(4)$ superalgebra…
In 4d $\mathcal{N}=1$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) the R-symmetry current, the stress-energy tensor, and the supersymmetry currents are grouped into a single object, the Ferrara-Zumino multiplet. In this work we study the most general form of three-point functions involving two Ferrara-Zumino multiplets and a third generic multiplet. We solve the constraints imposed by conservation in superspace and show that non-trivial solutions can only be found if the third multiplet is R-neutral and transforms in suitable Lorentz representations. In the process we give a prescription for counting…
We propose that a certain $4d$ $\mathcal{N}=1$ $SU(4)$ gauge theory flows in the IR to the rank $1$ $\mathcal{N}=2$ strongly coupled SCFT with $E_6$ global symmetry and $25$ free chiral fields. This proposal is tested by comparing various RG invariant quantities, notably, anomalies and the superconformal index. We discuss the generalization to $\mathcal{N}=1$ $SU(2n+2)$ gauge theory models flowing in the IR to the $R_{(2,2n+1)}$ family of strongly coupled SCFTs plus free fields.
We study the Cardy-like limit of the superconformal index of generic $\mathcal{N}=1$ SCFTs with ABCD gauge algebra, providing strong evidence for a universal formula that captures the behavior of the index at finite order in the rank and in the fugacities associated to angular momenta. The formula extends previous results valid at lowest order, and generalizes them to generic SCFTs. We corroborate the validity of our proposal by studying several examples, beyond the well-understood toric class. We compute the index also for models without a weakly-coupled gravity dual, whose gravitational anom…
We explore further our recent generalization of the $\mathcal{N}=4$ superconformal Chern-Simons theories of Gaiotto and Witten. We find and construct explicitly theories of enhanced $\mathcal{N}=5$ or 6 supersymmetry, especially $\mathcal{N}=5$, $Sp(2M)\times O(N)$ and $\mathcal{N}=6$, $Sp(2M)\times O(2)$ theories. The $U(M)\times U(N)$ theory coincides with the $\mathcal{N}=6$ theory of Aharony, Bergman, Jafferis and Maldacena (ABJM). We argue that the $\mathcal{N}=5$ theory with $Sp(2N)\times O(2N)$ gauge group can be understood as an orientifolding of the ABJM model with $U(2N)\times U(2N)$…
We study the chiral ring of four-dimensional superconformal field theories obtained by wrapping M5-branes on a complex curve inside a Calabi-Yau three-fold. We propose a field theoretic construction of all the theories found by Bah, Beem, Bobev and Wecht by introducing new building blocks, and prove several $\mathcal{N} = 1$ dualities featuring the latter. We match the central charges with those computed from the M5-brane anomaly polynomial, perform the counting of relevant operators and analyze unitarity bound violations. As a byproduct, we compute the exact dimension of "heavy operators" obt…
For any 5d ${\cal N}=1$ superconformal field theory, we propose a "complete" prepotential which reduces to the perturbative prepotential for any of its possible gauge theory realizations, manifests its global symmetry when written in terms of the invariant Coulomb branch parameters, and is valid for the whole parameter region. As concrete examples, we consider $SU(2)$ gauge theories with up to 7 flavors, $Sp(2)$ gauge theories with up to 9 flavors, and $Sp(2)$ gauge theories with 1 antisymmetric tensor and up to 7 flavors, as well as their dual gauge theories.
We prove that 3d superconformal index for general $\mathcal N=2$ U(N) gauge group with fundamentals and anti-fundmentals with/without Chern-Simons terms is factorized into vortex and anti-vortex partition function. We show that for simple cases, 3d vortex partition function coincides with a suitable topological open string partition function. We provide much more elegant derivation at the index level for $\mathcal N=2$ Seiberg-like dualities of unitary gauge groups with fundamantal matters and $\mathcal N=4$ mirror symmetry
We compute general expressions for two types of three-point functions of (semi-)short multiplets in four-dimensional $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal field theories. These (semi-)short multiplets are called "Schur multiplets" and play an important role in the study of associated chiral algebras. The first type of the three-point functions we compute involves two half-BPS Schur multiplets and an arbitrary Schur multiplet, while the second type involves one stress tensor multiplet and two arbitrary Schur multiplets. From these three-point functions, we read off the corresponding OPE selection rule…
