英文摘要:
In this paper we study the ideal variable bandwidth kernel density estimator introduced by McKay (1993) and Jones, McKay and Hu (1994) and the plug-in practical version of the variable bandwidth kernel estimator with two sequences of bandwidths as in Giné and Sang (2013). Based on the bias and variance analysis of the ideal and true variable bandwidth kernel density estimators, we study the central limit theorems for each of them.
In a regression model, we write the Nadaraya-Watson estimator of the regression function as the quotient of two kernel estimators, and propose a bandwidth selection method for both the numerator and the denominator. We prove risk bounds for both data driven estimators and for the resulting ratio. The simulation study confirms that both estimators have good performances, compared to the ones obtained by cross-validation selection of the bandwidth. However, unexpectedly, the single-bandwidth cross-validation estimator is found to be much better than the ratio of the previous two good estimators,…
Uniform in bandwidth consistency for the transformation kernel estimator of copulas
We propose an estimator of the kernel-based conditional mean dependence measure obtained from an appropriate modification of a naive estimator based on usual empirical estimators. We then get asymptotic normality of this estimator both under conditional mean independence hypothesis and under the alternative hypothesis. A new test for conditional mean independence of random variables valued into Hilbert spaces is then introduced.
In this paper we propose a variable bandwidth kernel regression estimator for $i.i.d.$ observations in $\mathbb{R}^2$ to improve the classical Nadaraya-Watson estimator. The bias is improved to the order of $O(h_n^4)$ under the condition that the fifth order derivative of the density function and the sixth order derivative of the regression function are bounded and continuous. We also establish the central limit theorems for the proposed ideal and true variable kernel regression estimators. The simulation study confirms our results and demonstrates the advantage of the variable bandwidth kerne…
We introduce a kernel estimator, to the tail index of a right-censored Pareto-type distribution, that generalizes Worms's one (Worms and Worms, 2014)in terms of weight coefficients. Under some regularity conditions, the asymptotic normality of the proposed estimator is established. In the framework of the second-order condition, we derive an asymptotically bias-reduced version to the new estimator. Through a simulation study, we conclude that one of the main features of the proposed kernel estimator is its smoothness contrary to Worms's one, which behaves, rather erratically, as a function of …
In Mombeni et al. (2019), Birnbaum-Saunders and Weibull kernel estimators were introduced for the estimation of cumulative distribution functions (c.d.f.s) supported on the half-line $[0,\infty)$. They were the first authors to use asymmetric kernels in the context of c.d.f. estimation. Their estimators were shown to perform better numerically than traditional methods such as the basic kernel method and the boundary modified version from Tenreiro (2013). In the present paper, we complement their study by introducing five new asymmetric kernel c.d.f. estimators, namely the Gamma, inverse Gamma,…
We study theoretically, for the first time, the Dirichlet kernel estimator introduced by Aitchison and Lauder (1985) for the estimation of multivariate densities supported on the $d$-dimensional simplex. The simplex is an important case as it is the natural domain of compositional data and has been neglected in the literature on asymmetric kernels. The Dirichlet kernel estimator, which generalizes the (non-modified) unidimensional Beta kernel estimator from Chen (1999), is free of boundary bias and non-negative everywhere on the simplex. We show that it achieves the optimal convergence rate $O…
We propose a new fully non-parametric two-step adaptive bandwidth selection method for kernel estimators of spatial point process intensity functions based on the Campbell-Mecke formula and Abramson's square root law. We present a simulation study to assess its performance relative to the Cronie-Van Lieshout global bandwidth selector and apply the technique to data on induced earthquakes in theGroningen gas field.
This paper considers the asymptotic behavior in $β$-Hölder spaces, and under $L^p$ losses, of a Dirichlet kernel density estimator proposed by Aitchison and Lauder (1985) for the analysis of compositional data. In recent work, Ouimet and Tolosana-Delgado (2022) established the uniform strong consistency and asymptotic normality of this estimator. As a complement, it is shown here that the Aitchison-Lauder estimator can achieve the minimax rate asymptotically for a suitable choice of bandwidth whenever $(p,β) \in [1, 3) \times (0, 2]$ or $(p, β) \in \mathcal{A}_d$, where $\mathcal{A}_d$ is a sp…
New local linear estimators are proposed for a wide class of nonparametric regression models. The estimators are uniformly consistent regardless of satisfying traditional conditions of depen\-dence of design elements. The estimators are the solutions of a specially weighted least-squares method. The design can be fixed or random and does not need to meet classical regularity or independence conditions. As an application, several estimators are constructed for the mean of dense functional data. The theoretical results of the study are illustrated by simulations. An example of processing real me…
We propose two new kernel-type estimators of the mean residual life function $m_X(t)$ of bounded or half-bounded interval supported distributions. Though not as severe as the boundary problems in the kernel density estimation, eliminating the boundary bias problems that occur in the naive kernel estimator of the mean residual life function is needed. In this article, we utilize the property of bijective transformation. Furthermore, our proposed methods preserve the mean value property, which cannot be done by the naive kernel estimator. Some simulation results showing the estimators' performan…
