Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been widely used over many areas in compute vision. Especially in classification. Recently, FlowNet and several works on opti- cal estimation using CNNs shows the potential ability of CNNs in doing per-pixel regression. We proposed several CNNs network architectures that can estimate optical flow, and fully unveiled the intrinsic different between these structures.
In this paper, we propose a model protection method for convolutional neural networks (CNNs) with a secret key so that authorized users get a high classification accuracy, and unauthorized users get a low classification accuracy. The proposed method applies a block-wise transformation with a secret key to feature maps in the network. Conventional key-based model protection methods cannot maintain a high accuracy when a large key space is selected. In contrast, the proposed method not only maintains almost the same accuracy as non-protected accuracy, but also has a larger key space. Experiments…

We introduce three block-wise transformations with a secret key set to generate learnable transformed images: pixel shuffling, negative/positive transformation, and FFX encryption. Protected models are trained by using transforme…

Deep learning using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) is quickly becoming the state-of-the-art for challenging computer vision applications. However, deep learning's power consumption and bandwidth requirements currently limit its application in embedded and mobile systems with tight energy budgets. In this paper, we explore the energy savings of optically computing the first layer of CNNs. To do so, we utilize bio-inspired Angle Sensitive Pixels (ASPs), custom CMOS diffractive image sensors which act similar to Gabor filter banks in the V1 layer of the human visual cortex. ASPs replace bot…

We propose a new deep learning based approach for camera relocalization. Our approach localizes a given query image by using a convolutional neural network (CNN) for first retrieving similar database images and then predicting the relative pose between the query and the database images, whose poses are known. The camera location for the query image is obtained via triangulation from two relative translation estimates using a RANSAC based approach. Each relative pose estimate provides a hypothesis for the camera orientation and they are fused in a second RANSAC scheme. The neural network is tra…

Recently, Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNNs) have made unprecedented progress, achieving the accuracy close to, or even better than human-level perception in various tasks. There is a timely need to map the latest software DCNNs to application-specific hardware, in order to achieve orders of magnitude improvement in performance, energy efficiency and compactness. Stochastic Computing (SC), as a low-cost alternative to the conventional binary computing paradigm, has the potential to enable massively parallel and highly scalable hardware implementation of DCNNs. One major challenge in SC…

We present a method for extracting depth information from a rectified image pair. We train a convolutional neural network to predict how well two image patches match and use it to compute the stereo matching cost. The cost is refined by cross-based cost aggregation and semiglobal matching, followed by a left-right consistency check to eliminate errors in the occluded regions. Our stereo method achieves an error rate of 2.61 % on the KITTI stereo dataset and is currently (August 2014) the top performing method on this dataset.

Nowadays, there are plenty of works introducing convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to the steganalysis and exceeding conventional steganalysis algorithms. These works have shown the improving potential of deep learning in information hiding domain. There are also several works based on deep learning to do image steganography, but these works still have problems in capacity, invisibility and security. In this paper, we propose a novel CNN architecture named as \isgan to conceal a secret gray image into a color cover image on the sender side and exactly extract the secret image out on the rece…

With recent advancing of Internet of Things (IoTs), it becomes very attractive to implement the deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) onto embedded/portable systems. Presently, executing the software-based DCNNs requires high-performance server clusters in practice, restricting their widespread deployment on the mobile devices. To overcome this issue, considerable research efforts have been conducted in the context of developing highly-parallel and specific DCNN hardware, utilizing GPGPUs, FPGAs, and ASICs. Stochastic Computing (SC), which uses bit-stream to represent a number within [-1,…

Steganography is collection of methods to hide secret information ("payload") within non-secret information "container"). Its counterpart, Steganalysis, is the practice of determining if a message contains a hidden payload, and recovering it if possible. Presence of hidden payloads is typically detected by a binary classifier. In the present study, we propose a new model for generating image-like containers based on Deep Convolutional Generative Adversarial Networks (DCGAN). This approach allows to generate more setganalysis-secure message embedding using standard steganography algorithms. Exp…

With the development of Internet of Things (IoT), data is increasingly appearing on the edge of the network. Processing tasks on the edge of the network can effectively solve the problems of personal privacy leaks and server overload. As a result, it has attracted a great deal of attention and made substantial progress. This progress includes efficient convolutional neural network (CNN) models such as MobileNet and ShuffleNet. However, all of these networks appear as a common network model and they usually need to identify multiple targets when applied. So the size of the input is very large. …

Due to the computational cost of running inference for a neural network, the need to deploy the inferential steps on a third party's compute environment or hardware is common. If the third party is not fully trusted, it is desirable to obfuscate the nature of the inputs and outputs, so that the third party can not easily determine what specific task is being performed. Provably secure protocols for leveraging an untrusted party exist but are too computational demanding to run in practice. We instead explore a different strategy of fast, heuristic security that we call Connectionist Symbolic Ps…
With the beginning of the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era, a quantum neural network (QNN) has recently emerged as a solution for several specific problems that classical neural networks cannot solve. Moreover, a quantum convolutional neural network (QCNN) is the quantum-version of CNN because it can process high-dimensional vector inputs in contrast to QNN. However, due to the nature of quantum computing, it is difficult to scale up the QCNN to extract a sufficient number of features due to barren plateaus. Motivated by this, a novel 3D scalable QCNN (sQCNN-3D) is proposed for poin…
During the last years, many advances have been made in tasks like3D model retrieval, 3D model classification, and 3D model segmentation. The typical 3D representations such as point clouds, voxels, and poly-gon meshes are mostly suitable for rendering purposes, while their use forcognitive processes (retrieval, classification, segmentation) is limited dueto their high redundancy and complexity. We propose a deep learningarchitecture to handle 3D models as an input. We combine this architec-ture with other standard architectures like Convolutional Neural Networksand autoencoders for computing 3D…

We introduce optimization methods for convolutional neural networks that can be used to improve existing gradient-based optimization in terms of generalization error. The method requires only simple processing of existing stochastic gradients, can be used in conjunction with any optimizer, and has only a linear overhead (in the number of parameters) compared to computation of the stochastic gradient. The method works by computing the gradient of the loss function with respect to output-channel directed re-weighted L2 or Sobolev metrics, which has the effect of smoothing components of the gradi…
