In traditional work on numerical schemes for solving stochastic differential equations (SDEs), it is usually assumed that the coefficients are globally Lipschitz. This assumption has been used to establish a powerful analysis of the numerical approximations of the solutions of stochastic differential equations. In practice, however, the globally Lipschitz assumption on the coefficients is on occasion too stringent a requirement to meet. Some Brownian motion driven SDEs used in applications have coefficients that are Lipschitz only on compact sets. Reflecting the importance of the locally Lipschitz case, it has been well studied in recent years, yet some simple to state, fundamental results remain unproved. We attempt to fill these gaps in this paper, establishing both a rate of convergence, but also we find the asymptotic normalized error process of the error process arising from a sequence of approximations. The result is analogous to the original result of this type, established in KT1991-2 back in 1991. This result was improved in 1998 in JJ1998, and recently(2009) it was partially extended in AN. As we indicate, the results in our paper provide the basis of a statistical analysis of the error; in this spirit we give conditions for a finite variance.
In this paper, we show the strong well-posedness of Mckean-Vlasov SDEs with non-Lipschitz coefficients. Moreover, propagation of chaos and the convergence rate for Euler's scheme of Mckean-Vlasov SDEs are also obtained.
In this paper we study a type of stochastic McKean-Vlasov equations with non-Lipschitz coefficients. Firstly, by an Euler-Maruyama approximation existence of its weak solutions is proved. And then we observe pathwise uniqueness of its weak solutions. Finally, it is shown that the Euler-Maruyama approximation has an optimal strong convergence rate.
The strong convergence of Euler approximations of stochastic delay differential equations is proved under general conditions. The assumptions on drift and diffusion coefficients have been relaxed to include polynomial growth and only continuity in the arguments corresponding to delays. Furthermore, the rate of convergence is obtained under one-sided and polynomial Lipschitz conditions. Finally, our findings are demonstrated with the help of numerical simulations.
Strong convergence results on tamed Euler schemes, which approximate stochastic differential equations with superlinearly growing drift coefficients that are locally one-sided Lipschitz continuous, are presented in this article. The diffusion coefficients are assumed to be locally Lipschitz continuous and have at most linear growth. Furthermore, the classical rate of convergence, i.e. one--half, for such schemes is recovered when the local Lipschitz continuity assumptions are replaced by global and, in addition, it is assumed that the drift coefficients satisfy polynomial Lipschitz continuity.
In this paper the existence of a smooth density is proved for the solution of an SDE, with locally Lipschitz coefficients and semi-monotone drift, under Hörmander condition. We prove the nondegeneracy condition for the solution of the SDE, from it an integration by parts formula would result in the Wiener space. To this end we construct a sequence of SDEs with globally Lipschitz coefficients whose solutions converge to the original one and use some Lyapunov functions to show the uniformly boundedness of the p-moments of the solutions and their Malliavin derivatives.
In this study, we consider a class of backward SDE driven by jump Markov process. An existence and uniqueness result to this kind of equations is obtained in a locally Lipschitz case. We essentially approximate the initial problem by constructing a convenient sequence of globally Lipschitz BSDEs having the existence and the uniqueness propriety. Then, we show, by passing to the limits, the existence, and uniqueness of a solution to the initial problem. After that, a stability theorem is also proved in the local Lipschitz setting. Applying the aforementioned result, we give an application to Eu…
In this work we prove the existence of a smooth density for the solution to an SDE with locally Lipschitz and semimonotone drift, and will derive an exponential decay for this density and all of its derivatives as well. Our main tool in this paper is an integration by parts formula for the solution of the mentioned SDE in the Wiener space. We construct an approximating sequence of SDEs with globally Lipschitz drifts and obtain a uniform bound for the integral of their solutions from which we derive the exponential decay for the derivatives of the density of the original SDE.
We study Hamilton Jacobi Bellman equations in an infinite dimensional Hilbert space, with Lipschitz coefficients, where the Hamiltonian has superquadratic growth with respect to the derivative of the value function, and the final condition is not bounded. This allows to study stochastic optimal control problems for suitable controlled state equations with unbounded control processes. The results are applied to a controlled wave equation.
We extend some methods developed by Albeverio, Brzeźniak and Wu and we show how to apply them in order to prove existence of global strong solutions of stochastic differential equations with jumps, under a local one-sided Lipschitz condition on the drift (also known as a monotonicity condition) and a local Lipschitz condition on the diffusion and jump coefficients, while an additional global one-sided linear growth assumption is satisfied. Then we use these methods to prove existence of invariant measures for a broad class of such equations.
We investigate conditions for solvability and Malliavin differentiability of backward stochastic differential equations driven by a Lévy process. In particular, we are interested in generators which satisfy a locally Lipschitz condition in the $Z$ and $U$ variable. This includes settings of linear, quadratic and exponential growths in those variables. Extending an idea of Cheridito and Nam to the jump setting and applying comparison theorems for Lévy-driven BSDEs, we show existence, uniqueness, boundedness and Malliavin differentiability of a solution. The pivotal assumption to obtain these re…
This paper is devoted to studying the averaging principle for stochastic differential equations with slow and fast time-scales, where the drift coefficients satisfy local Lipschitz conditions with respect to the slow and fast variables, and the coefficients in the slow equation depend on time $t$ and $ω$. Making use of the techniques of time discretization and truncation, we prove that the slow component strongly converges to the solution of the corresponding averaged equation.
This paper is concerned with strong convergence and almost sure convergence for neutral stochastic differential delay equations under non-globally Lipschitz continuous coefficients. Convergence rates of $θ$-EM schemes are given for these equations driven by Brownian motion and pure jumps respectively, where the drift terms satisfy locally one-sided Lipschitz conditions, and diffusion coefficients obey locally Lipschitz conditions, and the corresponding coefficients are highly nonlinear with respect to the delay terms.
Using a new notion of path-derivative, we study well-posedness of backward stochastic differential equation driven by a continuous martingale $M$ when $f(s,γ,y,z)$ is locally Lipschitz in $(y,z)$: \[Y_{t}=ξ(M_{[0,T]})+\int_{t}^{T}f(s,M_{[0,s]},Y_{s-},Z_{s}m_{s})d{\rm tr}[M,M]_{s}-\int_{t}^{T}Z_{s}dM_{s}-N_{T}+N_{t}\] Here, $M_{[0,t]}$ is the path of $M$ from $0$ to $t$ and $m$ is defined by $[M,M]_{t}=\int_{0}^{t}m_{s}m_{s}^{*}d{\rm tr}[M,M]_{s}$. When the BSDE is one-dimensional, we could show the existence and uniqueness of solution. On the contrary, when the BSDE is multidimensional, we sho…
An existence and uniqueness theorem for a class of stochastic delay differential equations is presented, and the convergence of Euler approximations for these equations is proved under general conditions. Moreover, the rate of almost sure convergence is obtained under local Lipschitz and also under monotonicity conditions.
Let f be a C1 bivariate function with Lipschitz derivatives, and F = {x $\in$ R2 : f(x) $λ$} an upper level set of f, with $λ$ $\in$ R. We present a new identity giving the Euler characteristic of F in terms of its three-points indicator functions. A bound on the number of connected components of F in terms of the values of f and its gradient, valid in higher dimensions, is also derived. In dimension 2, if f is a random field, this bound allows to pass the former identity to expectations if f's partial derivatives have Lipschitz constants with finite moments of sufficiently high order, without…
We study McKean-Vlasov equations where the coefficients are locally Lipschitz continuous. We prove the strong well-posedness and a propagation of chaos property in this framework. These questions can be treated with classical arguments under the assumptions that the coefficients are globally Lipschitz continuous. In the locally Lipschitz case, we use truncation arguments and Osgood's lemma instead of Grönwall's lemma. This approach entails technical difficulties in the proofs, in particular for the existence of solution of the McKean-Vlasov equations that are considered. This proof relies on a…
We consider the long-time behavior of an explicit tamed Euler scheme applied to a class of stochastic differential equations driven by additive noise, under a one-sided Lipschitz continuity condition. The setting encompasses drift nonlinearities with polynomial growth. First, we prove that moment bounds for the numerical scheme hold, with at most polynomial dependence with respect to the time horizon. Second, we apply this result to obtain error estimates, in the weak sense, in terms of the time-step size and of the time horizon, to quantify the error to approximate averages with respect to th…
This paper is concerned with strong convergence of a tamed $θ$-Euler-Maruyama scheme for neutral stochastic differential delay equations with superlinearly growing coefficients. We not only prove the strong convergence of implicit schemes, but also reveal the convergence rate for these equations driven by Brownian motion and pure jumps, respectively.
In this paper, we study a class of one-dimensional stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter $H>\ff 1 2$. The drift term of the equation is locally Lipschitz and unbounded in the neighborhood of $0$. We show the existence, uniqueness and positivity of the solutions. The estimations of moments, including the negative power moments, are given. Based on these estimations, strong convergence of the positivity preserving drift-implicit Euler-type scheme is proved, and optimal convergence rate is obtained. By using Lamperti transformation, we show th…
Firstly, we investigate Euler-Maruyama approximation for solutions of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by a symmetric α stable process under Komatsu condition for coefficients. The approximation implies naturally the existence of strong solutions. Secondly, we study the stability of solutions under Komatsu condition, and also discuss it under Belfadli-Ouknine condition.
This paper investigates a non-autonomous slow-fast system, which is generalized by stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with locally Lipschitz coefficients, subjected to standard Brownian motion (Bm) and fractional Brownian motion (fBm) with Hurst parameter 1/2<H<1. We concentrate on how to handle both types of integrals with respect to Bm and fBm and the locally Lispchitz continuity. The pathwise approach and the Ito stochastic calculus are combined with the technique of stopping time to establish the averaging principle where the averaged equation is defined. Then, the slow component of …

We consider general stochastic systems of interacting particles with noise which are relevant as models for the collective behavior of animals, and rigorously prove that in the mean-field limit the system is close to the solution of a kinetic PDE. Our aim is to include models widely studied in the literature such as the Cucker-Smale model, adding noise to the behavior of individuals. The difficulty, as compared to the classical case of globally Lipschitz potentials, is that in several models the interaction potential between particles is only locally Lipschitz, the local Lipschitz constant gro…
We consider the Euler-Maruyama approximation for multi-dimensional stochastic differential equations with irregular coefficients. We provide the rate of strong convergence where the possibly discontinuous drift coefficient satisfies a one-sided Lipschitz condition and the diffusion coefficient is Hölder continuous.
Tamed-adaptive Euler-Maruyama approximation for SDEs with superlinearly growing and piecewise continuous drift, superlinearly growing and locally Hölder continuous diffusion
In this paper, we introduce adaptive Euler-Maruyama schemes for McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations (SDEs) assuming only a standard monotonicity condition on the drift and diffusion coefficients but no global Lipschitz continuity in the state variable for either, while global Lipschitz continuity is required for the measure component only. We prove moment stability of the discretised processes and a strong convergence rate of $1/2$. Several numerical examples, centred around a mean-field model for FitzHugh-Nagumo neurons, illustrate that the standard uniform scheme fails and that t…
In this article, we construct and analyse an explicit numerical splitting method for a class of semi-linear stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with additive noise, where the drift is allowed to grow polynomially and satisfies a global one-sided Lipschitz condition. The method is proved to be mean-square convergent of order 1 and to preserve important structural properties of the SDE. First, it is hypoelliptic in every iteration step. Second, it is geometrically ergodic and has an asymptotically bounded second moment. Third, it preserves oscillatory dynamics, such as amplitudes, frequenci…
