We consider an attraction-repulsion chemotaxis model coupled with the Navier-Stokes system. This model describes the interaction between a type of cells (e.g., bacteria), which proliferate following a logistic law, and two chemical signals produced by the cells themselves that degraded at a constant rate. Also, it is considered that the chemoattractant is consumed with a rate proportional to the amount of organisms. The cells and chemical substances are transported by a viscous incompressible fluid under the influence of a force due to the aggregation of cells. We prove the existence of global mild solutions in bounded domains of RN , N = 2, 3, for small initial data in Lp-spaces.
We study some zero-flux attraction-repulsion chemotaxis models, with nonlinear production rates for the chemorepellent and the chemoattractant. This paper partially improves some known results in the literature and moreover solves an open question. The research is also complemented with numerical simulations in bi-dimensional domains.
We show that the attraction-repulsion chemotaxis system \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} u_t = Δu - χ\nabla\cdot(u\nabla v_1) + ξ\nabla\cdot(u\nabla v_2)\\ \partial_t v_1 = Δv_1 - βv_1 + αu \\ \partial_t v_2 = Δv_2 - δv_2 + γu, \end{cases} \end{equation*} posed with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions in bounded domains $Ω=B_R \subset \mathbb{R}^3$, $R>0$, admits radially symmetric solutions which blow-up in finite time if it is attraction-dominated in the sense that $χα-ξγ>0$.
In this paper we focus on an attraction-repulsion chemotaxis model with consumed signals, formulated in bounded and smooth domains $Ω$ of $\R^n$, with $n\geq 2$. We derive sufficient conditions on its data yielding global and bounded classical solutions to the related zero-flux Cauchy problem.
This work deals with a parabolic chemotaxis model with nonlinear diffusion and nonlocal reaction source. The problem is formulated on the whole space and, depending on a specific interplay between the coefficients associated to such diffusion and reaction, we establish that all given solutions are uniformly bounded in time.
We enter the details of two recent articles concerning as many chemotaxis models, one nonlinear and the other linear, and both with produced chemoattractant and saturated chemorepellent. These works, when properly analyzed, leave open room for some improvement of their results. We generalize the outcomes of the mentioned articles, establish other statements and put all the claims together; in particular, we select the sharpest ones and schematize them. Moreover, we complement our research also when logistic sources are considered in the overall study.
This paper deals with the fully parabolic attraction-repulsion chemotaxis system \begin{align*} u_t=Δu-χ\nabla \cdot (u\nabla v)+ξ\nabla\cdot(u \nabla w), \quad v_t=Δv-v+u, \quad w_t=Δw-w+u, \quad x \in Ω,\ t>0 \end{align*} under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions and initial conditions, where $Ω$ is an open ball in $\mathbb{R}^n$ ($n \ge 3$), $χ, ξ>0$ are constants. When $w=0$, finite-time blow-up in the corresponding Keller-Segel system has already been obtained. However, finite-time blow-up in the above attraction-repulsion chemotaxis system has not yet been established except for the …
In this paper we study a zero-flux attraction-repulsion che\-mo\-taxis-system. We show that despite any mutual interplay between the repulsive and attractive coefficients from the corresponding chemo-sensitivities, even less any restriction on their own sizes, if the production rate of that chemical signal responsible of the cellular coalescence is sublinear, then any initial data emanate a unique global classical solution, which is as well bounded. Further, in a remark of the manuscript, we also address an open question given in \cite{Viglialoro2019RepulsionAttraction}.
This paper is concerned with the attraction-repulsion chemotaxis system with superlinear logistic degradation, \begin{align*} \begin{cases} u_t = Δu - χ\nabla\cdot(u \nabla v) + ξ\nabla\cdot (u \nabla w) + λu - μu^k, \quad &x \in Ω,\ t>0,\\[1.05mm] 0= Δv + αu - βv, \quad &x \in Ω,\ t>0,\\[1.05mm] 0= Δw + γu - δw, \quad &x \in Ω,\ t>0, \end{cases} \end{align*} under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions, in a ball $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ ($n \ge 3$), with constant parameters $λ\in \mathbb{R}$, $k>1$, $μ, χ, ξ, α, β, γ, δ>0$. Blow-up phenomena in the system have been well investigated in the c…

This paper deals with the quasilinear attraction-repulsion chemotaxis system \begin{align*} \begin{cases} u_t=\nabla\cdot \big((u+1)^{m-1}\nabla u -χu(u+1)^{p-2}\nabla v +ξu(u+1)^{q-2}\nabla w\big),\\[] 0=Δv+αu-βv,\\[] 0=Δw+γu-δw \end{cases} \end{align*} in a bounded domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ $(n \in \mathbb{N})$ with smooth boundary $\partial Ω$, where $m, p, q \in \mathbb{R}$, $χ, ξ, α, β, γ, δ>0$ are constants. In the case that $m=1$ and $p=q=2$, when $χα-ξγ<0$ and $β=δ$, Tao-Wang (Math. Models Methods Appl. Sci.; 2013; 23; 1-36) proved that global bounded classical solutions toward th…
It has been well established that, in attraction-repulsion Keller-Segel systems of the form\begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{aligned} u_t &= Δu - χ\nabla \cdot (u\nabla v) + ξ\nabla \cdot (u\nabla w), \\ τv_t &= Δv + αu - βv,\\ τw_t &= Δw + γu - δw \end{aligned} \right. \end{equation*} in a smooth bounded domain $Ω\subseteq \mathbb{R}^n$, $n\in\mathbb{N}$, with Neumann boundary conditions and parameters $χ, ξ\geq 0$, $α,β,γ,δ> 0$ and $τ\in \{0,1\}$, finite-time blow-up can be ruled out in many scenarios given sufficiently smooth initial data if the repulsive chemotaxis is sufficiently stronger …

From the literature it is known that under a proper interplay between the above p…

Also, the diffusivity $D$, the density-dependent sensitivities $G, H$ fulfill $D(s)=a_0(s+1)^{m-1}$ with $a_0>0$ and $m \…
This paper deals with the quasilinear attraction-repulsion chemotaxis system \begin{align*} \begin{cases} u_t=\nabla\cdot \big((u+1)^{m-1}\nabla u -χu(u+1)^{p-2}\nabla v +ξu(u+1)^{q-2}\nabla w\big) +f(u), \\[1.05mm] 0=Δv+αu-βv, \\[1.05mm] 0=Δw+γu-δw \end{cases} \end{align*} in a bounded domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ ($n \in \mathbb{N}$) with smooth boundary $\partialΩ$, where $m, p, q \in \mathbb{R}$, $χ, ξ, α, β, γ, δ>0$ are constants. This paper generalizes and extends to the case of nonlinear effects and logistic perturbations some results recently developed in the literature where, for the linear counterpart and in absence of logistics, criteria toward boundedness for an attraction-repulsion Keller-Segel system with double saturation are derived.
We investigate the large time behavior of multi-dimensional aggregation equations driven by Newtonian repulsion, and balanced by radial attraction and confinement. In case of Newton repulsion with radial confinement we quantify the algebraic convergence decay rate towards the unique steady state. To this end, we identify a one-parameter family of radial steady states, and prove dimension-dependent decay rate in energy and 2-Wassertein distance, using a comparison with properly selected radial steady states. We also study Newtonian repulsion and radial attraction. When the attraction potential …

Under some appropriate conditions on the parameters, we show that there exist two positive constant $ 0<c^{*}(τ,χ_1,μ_1,λ_1,…

In this paper, we consider the dynamics of a 2D target-searching agent performing Brownian motion under the influence of fluid shear flow and chemical attraction. The analysis is motivated by numerous situations in biology where these effects are present, such as broadcast spawning of marine animals and other reproduction processes or workings of the immune systems. We rigorously characterize the limit of the expected hit time in the large flow amplitude limit as corresponding to the effective one-dimensional problem. We also perform numerical computations to characterize the finer properties …
How can repulsive and attractive forces, acting on a conservative system, create stable traveling patterns or branching instabilities? We have proposed to study this question in the framework of the hyperbolic Keller-Segel system with logistic sensitivity. This is a model system motivated by experiments on cell communities auto-organization, a field which is also called socio-biology. We continue earlier modeling work, where we have shown numerically that branching patterns arise for this system and we have analyzed this instability by formal asymptotics for small diffusivity of the chemo-repe…
