We give a new proof of Ciocan-Fontanine and Kim's wall-crossing formula relating the virtual classes of the moduli spaces of $ε$-stable quasimaps for different $ε$ in any genus, whenever the target is a complete intersection in projective space and there is at least one marked point. Our techniques involve a twisted graph space, which we expect to generalize to yield wall-crossing formulas for general gauged linear sigma models.
In this paper, we prove a K-theoretic wall-crossing formula for $ε$-stable quasimaps for all GIT targets in all genera. It recovers the genus-0 K-theoretic toric mirror theorem by Givental-Tonita and the genus-0 mirror theorem for quantum K-theory with level structure by Ruan-Zhang. The proofs are based on K-theoretic virtual localization on the master space introduced by the second author in arXiv:1911.02745.
In this paper, we prove a wall-crossing formula for $ε$-stable quasimaps to GIT quotients conjectured by Ciocan-Fontanine and Kim, for all targets in all genera, including the orbifold case. We prove that stability conditions in adjacent chambers give equivalent invariants, provided that both chambers are stable. In the case of genus-zero quasimaps with one marked point, we compute the invariants in the left-most stable chamber in terms of the small $I$-function. Using this we prove that the quasimap $J$-functions are on the Lagrangian cone of the Gromov--Witten theory. The proofs are based on…
We analyse the local structure of moduli space of genus one stable quasimaps. Combining it with the p-fields theory developed in \cite{L}, we prove the splitting formula for the virtual cycle of stable quasimaps to complete intersections in $\PP^n$.
By using the infinitesimally marking point to break the loop in the localization calculation as Kim and Lho, and Zinger's explicit formulas for double $J$-functions, we obtain a formula for genus one stable quasimaps invariants when the target is a complete intersection Calabi-Yau in projective space, which gives a new proof of Kim and Lho's mirror theorem for elliptic quasimap invariants.
By the reduced component in a moduli space of stable quasimaps to n-dimensional projective space we mean the closure of the locus in which the domain curves are smooth. As in the moduli space of stable maps, we prove the reduced component is smooth in genus 2, degree greater or equal to 3. Then we prove the virtual fundamental cycle of the moduli space of stable quasimaps to a complete intersection X in the projective space of genus 2, degree greater or equal to 3 is explicitly expressed in terms of the fundamental cycle of the reduced component of the projective space and virtual cycles of lo…
For each positive rational number $ε$, we define $K$-theoretic $ε$-stable quasimaps to certain GIT quotients $W\sslash G$. For $ε>1$, this recovers the $K$-theoretic Gromov-Witten theory of $W\sslash G$ introduced in more general context by Givental and Y.-P. Lee. For arbitrary $ε_1$ and $ε_2$ in different stability chambers, these $K$-theoretic quasimap invariants are expected to be related by wall-crossing formulas. We prove wall-crossing formulas for genus zero $K$-theoretic quasimap theory when the target $W\sslash G$ admits a torus action with isolated fixed points and isolated one-dimens…
In previous work (arXiv:1304.7056) we have conjectured wall-crossing formulas for genus zero quasimap invariants of GIT quotients and proved them via localization in many cases. We extend these formulas to higher genus when the target is semi-positive, and prove them for semi-positive toric varieties, in particular for toric local Calabi-Yau targets. The proof also applies to local Calabi-Yau's associated to some non-abelian quotients.
We state a wall-crossing formula for the virtual classes of epsilon-stable quasimaps to GIT quotients and prove it for complete intersections in projective space, with no positivity restrictions on their first Chern class. As a consequence, the wall-crossing formula relating the genus g descendant Gromov-Witten potential and the genus g epsilon-quasimap descendant potential is established. For the quintic threefold, our results may be interpreted as giving a rigorous and geometric interpretation of the holomorphic limit of the BCOV B-model partition function of the mirror family.
For each positive rational number epsilon, the theory of epsilon-stable quasimaps to certain GIT quotients W//G developed in arXiv:1106.3724[math.AG] gives rise to a Cohomological Field Theory. Furthermore, there is an asymptotic theory corresponding to epsilon --> 0. For epsilon >1 one obtains the usual Gromov-Witten theory of W//G, while the other theories are new. However, they are all expected to contain the same information and in particular the numerical invariants should be related by wall-crossing formulas. In this paper we analyze the genus zero picture and find that the wall-crossing…
We study K-theoretic GLSM invariants with one-dimensional gauge group and introduce elliptic central charges that depend on an elliptic cohomology class called an elliptic brane and a choice of level structure. These central charges have an integral representation related to an interpolation problem for the elliptic brane and satisfy natural q-difference equations. Integral representaions lead to the wall crossing statement for the central charges in two different phases of the GLSM. We explain how the orbifold structure leads to differences between wall crossing of the usual (K-theoretic) and…
We propose and prove a mirror theorem for the elliptic quasimap invariants for smooth Calabi-Yau complete intersections in projective spaces. The theorem combined with the wall-crossing formula appeared in paper (arXiv:1308.6377) implies mirror theorems of Zinger and Popa for the elliptic Gromov-Witten invariants for those varieties. This paper and the wall-crossing formula provide a unified framework for the mirror theory of rational and elliptic Gromov-Witten invariants.
We extend to orbifolds the quasimap theory of arXiv:0908.4446 and arXiv:1106.3724, as well as the genus zero wall-crossing results from arXiv:1304.7056 and arXiv:1401.7417. As a consequence, we obtain generalizations of orbifold mirror theorems, in particular, of the mirror theorem for toric orbifolds recently proved independently by Coates, Corti, Iritani, and Tseng (arXiv:1310.4163).
We construct and study the theory of relative quasimaps in genus zero, in the spirit of Gathmann. When $X$ is a smooth toric variety and $Y$ is a smooth very ample hypersurface in $X$, we produce a virtual class on the moduli space of relative quasimaps to $(X,Y)$, which we use to define relative quasimap invariants. We obtain a recursion formula which expresses each relative invariant in terms of invariants of lower tangency, and apply this formula to derive a quantum Lefschetz theorem for quasimaps, expressing the restricted quasimap invariants of $Y$ in terms of those of $X$. Finally, we sh…
The hybrid model is the Landau-Ginszburg-type theory that is expected, via the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence, to match the Gromov-Witten theory of a complete intersection in weighted projective space. We prove a wall-crossing formula exhibiting the dependence of the genus-zero hybrid model on its stability parameter, generalizing the work of the second author and Ruan for quantum singularity theory and paralleling the work of Ciocan-Fontanine--Kim for quasimaps. This completes the proof of the genus-zero Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau correspondence for complete intersections of hypers…
Let $C$ be a smooth projective curve of genus 0. Let $B$ be the variety of complete flags in an $n$-dimensional vector space $V$. Given an $(n-1)$-tuple $α\in N[I]$ of positive integers one can consider the space $Q_α$ of algebraic maps of degree $α$ from $C$ to $B$. This space admits some remarkable compactifications $Q^D_α$ (Quasimaps), $Q^L_α$ (Quasiflags) constructed by Drinfeld and Laumon respectively. In [Kuznetsov] it was proved that the natural map $π: Q^L_α\to Q^D_α$ is a small resolution of singularities. The aim of the present note is to study the singular support of the Goresky-Mac…
Let $C$ be a smooth projective curve of genus 0. Let $\CB$ be the variety of complete flags in an $n$-dimensional vector space $V$. Given an $(n-1)$-tuple $α\in\BN[I]$ of positive integers one can consider the space $\CQ_α$ of algebraic maps of degree $α$ from $C$ to $\CB$. This space admits some remarkable compactifications $\CQ^D_α$ (Quasimaps), $\CQ^L_α$ (Quasiflags), $\CQ^K_α$ (Stable Maps) of $\CQ_α$ constructed by Drinfeld, Laumon and Kontsevich respectively. It has been proved that the natural map $π: \CQ^L_α\to \CQ^D_α$ is a small resolution of singularities. The aim of the present not…
We study genus zero wall-crossing for a family of moduli spaces introduced recently by Fan-Farvis-Ruan. The family has a wall and chamber structure relative to a positive rational parameter. For a Fermat quasi-homogeneous polynomial W (not necessarily Calabi-Yau type), we study natural generating functions of invariants associated to these moduli spaces. Our wall-crossing formula relates the generating functions by showing that they all lie on the same Lagrangian cone associated to the Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory of W. For arbitrarily small parameter, a specialization of our generating funct…
Motivated by Witten's work (arXiv:hep-th/9312104), we propose the Verlinde/Grassmannian correspondence which relates the GL Verlinde numbers to the K-theoretic quasimap invariants of the Grassmannian. We recover these two types of invariants by imposing different stability conditions on the gauged linear sigma model associated to the Grassmannian. We construct two families of stability conditions connecting the two theories and prove two wall-crossing results. We confirm the Verlinde/Grassmannian correspondence in the rank two case.
This is the first in a pair of papers developing a framework for the application of logarithmic structures in the study of singular curves of genus $1$. We construct a smooth and proper moduli space dominating the main component of Kontsevich's space of stable genus $1$ maps to projective space. A variation on this theme furnishes a modular interpretation for Vakil and Zinger's famous desingularization of the Kontsevich space of maps in genus $1$. Our methods also lead to smooth and proper moduli spaces of pointed genus $1$ quasimaps to projective space. Finally, we present an application to t…
For a Fermat quasi-homogeneous polynomial $W$, we study a family of K-theoretic quantum invariants parametrized by a positive rational number $ε$. We prove a wall-crossing formula by showing the generating functions lie on the Lagrangian cone of the permutation-equivariant K-theoretic FJRW theory of $W$.
For a Fermat quasi-homogeneous polynomial, we study the associated weighted Fan-Jarvis-Ruan-Witten theory with narrow insertions. We prove a wall-crossing formula in all genera via localization on a master space, which is constructed by introducing an additional tangent vector to the moduli problem. This is a Landau-Ginzburg theory analogue of the higher-genus quasi-map wall-crossing formula proved by Ciocan-Fontanine and Kim. It generalizes the genus-$0$ result by Ross-Ruan and the genus-$1$ result by Guo-Ross.
We introduce a technique for proving all-genus wall-crossing formulas in the gauged linear sigma model as the stability parameter varies, without assuming factorization properties of the virtual class. We implement this technique explicitly for the hybrid model, which generalizes our previous work to the Landau--Ginzburg phase.
In this paper we analyze six examples of birational transformations between toric orbifolds: three crepant resolutions, two crepant partial resolutions, and a flop. We study the effect of these transformations on genus-zero Gromov-Witten invariants, proving the Coates-Corti-Iritani-Tseng/Ruan form of the Crepant Resolution Conjecture in each case. Our results suggest that this form of the Crepant Resolution Conjecture may also hold for more general crepant birational transformations. They also suggest that Ruan's original Crepant Resolution Conjecture should be modified, by including appropria…
Let X be a Gorenstein orbifold and let Y be a crepant resolution of X. We state a conjecture relating the genus-zero Gromov--Witten invariants of X to those of Y, which differs in general from the Crepant Resolution Conjectures of Ruan and Bryan--Graber, and prove our conjecture when X = P(1,1,2) and X = P(1,1,1,3). As a consequence, we see that the original form of the Bryan--Graber Conjecture holds for P(1,1,2) but is probably false for P(1,1,1,3). Our methods are based on mirror symmetry for toric orbifolds.
We study wall-crossing for the Beauville-Mukai system of rank three on a general genus two K3 surface. We show that such a system is related to the Hilbert scheme of ten points on the surface by a sequence of flops, whose exceptional loci can be described as Brill-Noether loci. We also obtain Brill-Noether type results for sheaves in the Beauville-Mukai system.
We extend the ideas of Friedman and Qin (Flips of moduli spaces and transition formulae for Donaldson polynomial invariants of rational surfaces) to find the wall-crossing formulae for the Donaldson invariants of algebraic surfaces with geometrical genus zero, positive irregularity and anticanonical divisor effective, for any wall $ζ$ with $l_ζ=(ζ\sp{2}-p_1)/4$ being zero or one.
Let $C$ be a curve on a K3 surface $X$ with Picard group $\mathbb{Z}.[C]$. Mukai's program seeks to recover $X$ from $C$ by exhibiting it as a Fourier-Mukai partner to a Brill-Noether locus of vector bundles on $C$. We use wall-crossing in the space of Bridgeland stability conditions to prove this for genus $\ge14$. This paper deals with the case $g-1$ prime left over from Paper I.
We generalize a classical result about the genus of curves in projective space by Gruson and Peskine to principally polarized abelian threefolds of Picard rank one. The proof is based on wall-crossing techniques for ideal sheaves of curves in the derived category. In the process, we obtain bounds for Chern characters of other stable objects such as rank two sheaves. The argument gives a proof for projective space as well. In this case these techniques also indicate an approach for a conjecture by Hartshorne and Hirschowitz and we prove first steps towards it.
We study the BPS invariants for local del Pezzo surfaces, which can be obtained as the signed Euler characteristic of the moduli spaces of stable one-dimensional sheaves on the surface $S$. We calculate the Poincare polynomials of the moduli spaces for the curve classes $β$ having arithmetic genus at most 2. We formulate a conjecture that these Poincare polynomials are divisible by the Poincare polynomials of $((-K_S).β-1)$-dimensional projective space. This conjecture motivates upcoming work on log BPS numbers.
Let $C$ be a curve of genus $g \geq 11$ such that $g-1$ is a composite number. Suppose $C$ is on a K3 surface whose Picard group is generated by the curve class $[C]$. We use wall-crossing with respect to Bridgeland stability conditions to generalise Mukai's program to this situation: we show how to reconstruct the K3 surface containing the curve $C$ as a Fourier-Mukai transform of a Brill-Noether locus of vector bundles on $C$.
Toroidal 3-orbifolds $(S^1)^6/G$, for $G$ a finite group, were some of the earliest examples of Calabi-Yau 3-orbifolds to be studied in string theory. While much mathematical progress towards the predictions of string theory has been made in the meantime, most of it has dealt with hypersurfaces in toric varieties. As a result, very little is known about curve-counting theories on toroidal orbifolds. In this paper, we initiate a program to study mirror symmetry and the Landau-Ginzburg/Calabi-Yau (LG/CY) correspondence for toroidal orbifolds. We focus on the simplest example $[E^3/μ_3],$ where $…
We study punctual quot-schemes of torsion-free sheaves $E_Y$ on smooth projective curves, surfaces and Calabi--Yau fourfolds via their virtual geometry. Our goal is to give a complete description of the virtual fundamental classes and their tautological integrals. In the fourfold case, we first construct these classes under additional conditions. We use novel methods relying on the wall-crossing of Joyce. Our results include -the dependence of the cobordism classes on the torsion-free sheaf $E_Y$ where $Y$ is a surface, -relations to the previous results in the literature, which addressed the …
For every genus g, we construct a smooth, complete, rational polarized algebraic variety DM_g together with a normal crossing divisor D = sum D_i, such that for every moduli space M_C(2,0) of semistable topologically trivial vector bundles of rank 2 on an algebraic curve C of genus g there exists a holomorphic isomorphism f: M_C(2,0) minus K_2 -> DM_g minus D, where K_2 is the Kummer variety of the Jacobian of C, sending the polarization of DM_g to the theta divisor of the moduli space. This isomorphism induces isomorphisms of the spaces of conformal blocks.
