In this paper, we define what is called a quasi-Reinhardt domain and study biholomorphisms between such domains. We show that all biholomorphisms between two bounded quasi-Reinhardt domains fixing the origin are polynomial mappings, and we give a uniform upper bound for the degree of such polynomial mappings. In particular, we generalize the classical Cartan's linearity theorem for circular domains to quasi-Reinhardt domains.
We give a description of biholomorphisms of quasi-Reinhardt domains fixing the origin via Bergman representative coordinates, which are shown to be polynomial mappings with a degree bound given by the so-called "resonance order".
Let E denote a bundle with fiber D and with basis B. Both D and B are assumed to be Stein. For D a Reinhardt bounded domain of dimension d=2 or 3, we give a necessary and sufficient condition on D for the existence of a non-Stein such E (Theorem 1); for d=2, we give necessary and sufficient criteria for E to be Stein (Theorem 2). For D a Reinhardt bounded domain of any dimension not intersecting any coordinate hyperplane, we give a sufficient criterion for E to be Stein (Theorem 3).
In this paper we characterize compact Hankel operators with conjugate holomorphic symbols on the Bergman space of bounded convex Reinhardt domains in $\mathbb{C}^2$. We also characterize compactness of Hankel operators with conjugate holomorphic symbols on smooth bounded pseudoconvex complete Reinhardt domains in $\mathbb{C}^2$.
We obtain $L^p$ regularity for the Bergman projection on some Reinhardt domains. We start with a bounded initial domain $Ω$ with some symmetry properties and generate successor domains in higher {dimensions}. We prove: If the Bergman kernel on $Ω$ satisfies appropriate estimates, then the Bergman projection on the successor is $L^p$ bounded. For example, the Bergman projection on successors of strictly pseudoconvex initial domains is bounded on $L^p$ for $1<p<\infty$. The successor domains need not have smooth boundary nor be strictly pseudoconvex.
We give an explicit description of smoothly bounded Reinhardt domains with noncompact automorphism groups. In particular, this description confirms a special case of a conjecture of Greene/Krantz.
We characterize pairs of bounded Reinhardt domains in $\CC^2$ between which there exists a proper holomorphic map and find all proper maps that are not elementary algebraic.
In this paper we prove that, if $p$ is a boundary point of a smoothly bounded pseudoconvex Reinhardt domain in $\C^n$, then the variety type at $p$ is identical to the regular type.
We show that every bounded hyperconvex Reinhardt domain can be approximated by special polynomial polyhedra defined by homogeneous polynomial mappings. This is achieved by means of approximation of the pluricomplex Green function of the domain with pole at the origin.
We present different constructions of abstract boundaries for bounded complete (Kobayashi) hyperbolic domains in ${\mathbb C}^d$, $d \geq 1$. These constructions essentially come from the geometric theory of metric spaces. We also present, as an application, some extension results concerning biholomorphic maps.
Let $Ω$ be an arbitrary bounded semi-Reinhardt domain in $\mathbb{C}^{m+n}$. We show that for $m \geq 2$, if a Hankel operator with an anti-holomorphic symbol is Hilbert-Schmidt on the Bergman space $L_a^2(Ω)$, then it must equal zero. This fact has previously been proved for Reinhardt domains.
We give a complete description of bounded Reinhardt domains of finite boundary smoothness that have non-compact automorphism group. As part of this program, we show that the classification of domains with non-compact automorphism group and having only finite boundary smoothness is considerably more complicated than the classification of such domains that have infinitely smooth boundary.
We show that on smooth complete Reinhardt domains, weighted Bergman projection operators corresponding to exponentially decaying weights are unbounded on $L^p$ spaces for all $p\not=2$. On the other hand, we also show that the exponentially weighted projection operators are bounded on Sobolev spaces on the unit ball.
Let V be a bounded pseudoconvex Reinhardt domain in C^2 with many strictly pseudoconvex points and logarithmic image W. It was known that the maximal ideal in $H^{\infty}(V)$ consisting of all functions vanishing at (p,q) in V is generated by the coordinate functions z-p, w-q (meaning that one can solve the Gleason problem for $H^{\infty}(V)$) if W is bounded. We show that one can solve Gleason's problem for $H^{\infty}(V)$ as well if there are positive numbers $a$, $b$ and a positive rational number k/l such that V looks like {(z,w) in C^2 : a |w|^l <= |z|^k = b |w|^l} for small (z,w).
The Leray transform and related boundary operators are studied for a class of convex Reinhardt domains in $\mathbb C^2$. Our class is self-dual; it contains some domains with less than $C^2$-smooth boundary and also some domains with smooth boundary and degenerate Levi form. $L^2$-regularity is proved, and essential spectra are computed with respect to a family of boundary measures which includes surface measure. A duality principle is established providing explicit unitary equivalence between operators on domains in our class and operators on the corresponding polar domains. Many of these res…
We prove that two smooth families of 2-connected domains in $\cc$ are smoothly equivalent if they are equivalent under a possibly discontinuous family of biholomorphisms. We construct, for $m \geq 3$, two smooth families of smoothly bounded $m$-connected domains in $\cc$, and for $n\geq2$, two families of strictly pseudoconvex domains in $\cc^n$, that are equivalent under discontinuous families of biholomorphisms but not under any continuous family of biholomorphisms. Finally, we give sufficient conditions for the smooth equivalence of two smooth families of domains.
Let $Ω\subset \mathbb{C}^2$ be a bounded pseudoconvex complete Reinhardt domain with a smooth boundary. We study the behavior of analytic structure in the boundary of $Ω$ and obtain a compactness result for Hankel operators on the Bergman space of $Ω$.
We obtain sharp ranges of $L^p$-boundedness for domains in a wide class of Reinhardt domains representable as sub-level sets of monomials, by expressing them as quotients of simpler domains. We prove a general transformation law relating $L^p$-boundedness on a domain and its quotient by a finite group. The range of $p$ for which the Bergman projection is $L^p$-bounded on our class of Reinhardt domains is found to shrink as the complexity of the domain increases.
We show the following symmetry property of a bounded Reinhardt domain $Ω$ in $\mathbb{C}^{n+1}$: let $M=\partialΩ$ be the smooth boundary of $Ω$ and let $h$ be the Second Fundamental Form of $M$; if the coefficient $h(T,T)$ related to the characteristic direction $T$ is constant then $M$ is a sphere. In Appendix we state the result from an hamiltonian point of view.
In this paper we consider the following question: For bounded domains with smooth boundary, can strong pseudoconvexity be characterized in terms of the intrinsic complex geometry of the domain? Our approach to answering this question is based on understanding the dynamical behavior of real geodesics in the Kobayashi metric and allows us to prove a number of results for domains with low regularity. For instance, we show that for convex domains with $C^{2,ε}$ boundary strong pseudoconvexity can be characterized in terms of the behavior of the squeezing function near the boundary, the behavior of…
Let D be a piecewise smooth bounded convex Reinhardt domain in C^2. Assume that the symbols f and g are continuous on the closure of D and harmonic on the disks in the boundary of D. We show that if the product of Hankel operators H^*_f H_g is compact on the Bergman space of D, then on any disk in the boundary of D, either f or g is holomorphic.
We give an example of a bounded, pseudoconvex, circular domain in ${\mathbb C}^3$ with smooth, real-analytic boundary and non-compact automorphism group, which is not biholomorphically equivalent to any Reinhardt domain.
We prove that a proper holomorphic map between two bounded symmetric domains of the same dimension, one of them being irreducible, is a biholomorphism. Our methods allow us to give a single, all-encompassing argument that unifies the various special cases in which this result is known. We discuss an application of these methods to domains having noncompact automorphism groups that are not assumed to act transitively.
We show that in $\mathbb{C}^2$ if the set of strongly regular points are closed in the boundary of a smooth bounded pseudoconvex domain, then the domain is c-regular, that is, the plurisubharmonic upper envelopes of functions continuous up to the boundary are continuous on the closure of the domain. Using this result we prove that smooth bounded pseudoconvex Reinhardt domains in $\mathbb{C}^{2}$ are $c$-regular.
In this article we continue the study of properties of squeezing functions and geometry of bounded domains. The limit of squeezing functions of a sequence of bounded domains is studied. We give comparisons of intrinsic positive forms and metrics on bounded domains in terms of squeezing functions. To study the boundary behavior of squeezing functions, we introduce the notions of (intrinsic) ball pinching radius, and give boundary estimate of squeezing functions in terms of these datum. Finally, we use these results to study geometric and analytic properties of some interesting domains, includin…
Let $G/P$ be a rational homogeneous space (not necessarily irreducible) and $x_0\in G/P$ be the point at which the isotropy group is $P$. The $G$-translates of the orbit $Qx_0$ of a parabolic subgroup $Q\subsetneq G$ such that $P\cap Q$ is parabolic are called $Q$-cycles. We established an extension theorem for local biholomorphisms on $G/P$ that map local pieces of $Q$-cycles into $Q$-cycles. We showed that such maps extend to global biholomorphisms of $G/P$ if $G/P$ is $Q$-cycle-connected, or equivalently, if there does not exist a non-trivial parabolic subgroup containing $P$ and $Q$. Then …
We present a result on existence of some kind of peak functions for $\C$-convex domains and for the symmetrized polydisc. Then we apply the latter result to show the equivariance of the set of peak points for $A(D)$ under proper holomorphic mappings. Additionally, we present a description of the set of peak points in the class of bounded pseudoconvex Reinhardt domains.
We study the homeomorphic extension of biholomorphisms between convex domains in $\mathbb C^d$ without boundary regularity and boundedness assumptions. Our approach relies on methods from coarse geometry, namely the correspondence between the Gromov boundary and the topological boundaries of the domains and the dynamical properties of commuting 1-Lipschitz maps in Gromov hyperbolic spaces. This approach not only allows us to prove extensions for biholomorphisms, but for more general quasi-isometries between the domains endowed with their Kobayashi distances.
In this paper we establish Gehring-Hayman type theorems for some complex domains. Suppose that $Ω\subset \mathbb{C}^n$ is a bounded $m$-convex domain with Dini-smooth boundary, or a bounded strongly pseudoconvex domain with $C^2$-smooth boundary. Then we prove that the Euclidean length of Kobayashi geodesic $[x,y]$ in $Ω$ is less than $c_1|x-y|^{c_2}$. Furthermore, if $Ω$ endowed with the Kobayashi metric is Gromov hyperbolic, then we can generalize this result to quasi-geodesics with respect to Bergman metric, Carathéodory metric or Kähler-Einstein metric. As applications, we prove the bi-Höl…
Let $Ω$ be a bounded convex Reinhardt domain in $\mathbb{C}^2$ and $ϕ\in C(\barΩ)$. We show that the Hankel operator $H_ϕ$ is compact if and only if $ϕ$ is holomorphic along every non-trivial analytic disc in the boundary of $Ω$.
By considering intrinsic geometric conditions, we introduce a new class of domains in complex Euclidean space. This class is invariant under biholomorphism and includes strongly pseudoconvex domains, finite type domains in dimension two, convex domains, $\mathbb{C}$-convex domains, and homogeneous domains. For this class of domains, we show that compactness of the $\bar{\partial}$-Neumann operator on $(0,q)$-forms is equivalent to the boundary not containing any $q$-dimensional analytic varieties (assuming only that the boundary is a topological submanifold). We also prove, for this class of d…
Let $Ω$ be a bounded, convex domain in a separable Hilbert space. The authors prove a version of the theorem of Bun Wong, which asserts that if such a domain admits an automorphism orbit accumulating at a strongly pseudoconvex boundary point then it is biholomorphic to the ball. Key ingredients in the proof are a new localization argument using holomorphic peaking functions and the use of new ``normal families'' arguments in the construction of the limit biholomorphism.
For a bounded domain $D \subset \mathbb{C}^n$, let $K_D = K_D(z) > 0$ denote the Bergman kernel on the diagonal and consider the reproducing kernel Hilbert space of holomorphic functions on $D$ that are square integrable with respect to the weight $K_D^{-d}$, where $d \geq 0$ is an integer. The corresponding weighted kernel $K_{D, d}$ transforms appropriately under biholomorphisms and hence produces an invariant Kähler metric on $D$. Thus, there is a hierarchy of such metrics starting with the classical Bergman metric that corresponds to the case $d=0$. This note is an attempt to study this cl…
In this paper we attempt to develop a general $p-$Bergman theory on bounded domains in $\mathbb C^n$. To indicate the basic difference between $L^p$ and $L^2$ cases, we show that the $p-$Bergman kernel $K_p(z)$ is not real-analytic on some bounded complete Reinhardt domains when $p\ge 4$ is an even number. By the calculus of variations we get a fundamental reproducing formula. This together with certain techniques from nonlinear analysis of the $p-$Laplacian yield a number of results, e.g., the off-diagonal $p-$Bergman kernel $K_p(z,\cdot)$ is Hölder continuous of order $\frac12$ for $p>1$ and…
On a bounded strictly pseudoconvex domain in $\mathbb{C}^n$, $n>1$, the smoothness of the Cheng-Yau solution to Fefferman's complex Monge-Ampere equation up to the boundary is obstructed by a local curvature invariant of the boundary. For bounded strictly pseudoconvex domains in $\mathbb{C}^2$ which are diffeomorphic to the ball, we motivate and consider the problem of determining whether the global vanishing of this obstruction implies biholomorphic equivalence to the unit ball. In particular we observe that, up to biholomorphism, the unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^2$ is rigid with respect to defor…
Hua domain, named after Chinese mathematician Loo-Keng Hua, is defined as a domain in $\mathbb{C}^{n}$ fibered over an irreducible bounded symmetric domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{C}^{d}\;(d<n)$ with the fiber over $z\in Ω$ being a $(n-d)$-dimensional generalized complex ellipsoid $Σ(z)$. In general, a Hua domain is a nonhomogeneous domain without smooth boundary. The purpose of this paper is twofold. Firstly, we obtain what seems to be the first rigidity results on proper holomorphic mappings between two equidimensional Hua domains. Secondly, we determine the explicit form of the biholomorphisms be…
In this paper we study the automorphism group of smoothly bounded convex domains. We show that such a domain is biholomorphic to a "polynomial ellipsoid" (that is, a domain defined by a weighted homogeneous balanced polynomial) if and only if the limit set of the automorphism group intersects at least two closed complex faces of the set. The proof relies on a detailed study of the geometry of the Kobayashi metric and ideas from the theory of non-positively curved metric spaces. We also obtain a number of other results including the Greene-Krantz conjecture in the case of uniform non-tangential…
For any bounded domains $Ω$ in $\mathbb{C}^{n}$, Deng, Guan and Zhang introduced the squeezing function $S_Ω(z)$ which is a biholomorphic invariant of bounded domains. We show that for $n=1$, the squeezing function on an annulus $A_r = \lbrace z \in \mathbb{C} : r <|z| <1 \rbrace$ is given by $S_{A_r}(z)= \max \left\lbrace |z| ,\frac{r}{|z|} \right\rbrace$ for all $0<r<1$. This disproves the conjectured formula for the squeezing function proposed by Deng, Guan and Zhang and establishes (up to biholomorphisms) the squeezing function for all doubly-connected domains in $\mathbb{C}$ other than th…
