In this paper, we study the formation of solitons, their propagation and collision behaviour in an integrable multicomponent (2+1)-dimensional long wave-short wave resonance interaction ($M$-LSRI) system. First, we briefly revisit our earlier results on the dynamics of bright solitons and demonstrate the fascinating energy exchange collision of bright solitons appearing in the short-wave components of the $M$-LSRI system. Then, we explicitly construct the exact one- and two- multicomponent dark soliton solutions of the $M$-LSRI system by using the Hirota's direct method and explore its propagation dynamics. Also, we study the features of dark soliton collisions.
In this paper, we discus the fascinating energy sharing collisions of multicomponent solitons in certain incoherently coupled and coherently coupled nonlinear Schrödinger type equations arising in the context of nonlinear optics.
We derive a (2+1)-dimensional multicomponent long-wave$-$short-wave resonance interaction (LSRI) system as the evolution equation for propagation of $N$-dispersive waves in weak Kerr type nonlinear medium in the small amplitude limit. The mixed (bright-dark) type soliton solutions of a particular (2+1)-dimensional multicomponent LSRI system, deduced from the general multicomponent higher dimensional LSRI system, are obtained by applying the Hirota's bilinearization method. Particularly, we show that the solitons in the LSRI system with two short-wave components behave like scalar solitons. We …
We consider a general multicomponent (2+1)-dimensional long-wave--short-wave resonance interaction (LSRI) system with arbitrary nonlinearity coefficients, which describes the nonlinear resonance interaction of multiple short waves with a long-wave in two spatial dimensions. The general multicomponent LSRI system is shown to be integrable by performing the Painlevé analysis. Then we construct the exact bright multi-soliton solutions by applying the Hirota's bilinearization method and study the propagation and collision dynamics of bright solitons in detail. Particularly, we investigate the head…
The Darboux Dressing Transformations developed in our previous paper (Multicomponent integrable wave equations I. Darboux-Dressing Transformation, J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 40, 961-977, 2007) are here applied to construct soliton solutions for a class of boomeronic type equations. The vacuum (i.e. vanishing) solution and the generic plane wave solution are both dressed to yield one soliton solutions. The formulae are specialised to the particularly interesting case of the resonant interaction of three waves, a well-known model which is of boomeronic type. For this equation a novel solution whic…
We consider the multicomponent Yajima-Oikawa (YO) system and show that the two-component YO system can be derived in a physical setting of three-coupled nonlinear Schrödinger (3-CNLS) type system by the asymptotic reduction method. The derivation is further generalized to multicomponent case. This set of equations describes the dynamics of nonlinear resonant interaction between one-dimensional long-wave and multiple short-waves. The Painlevé analysis of the general multicomponent YO system shows that the underlying set of evolution equations is integrable for arbitrary nonlinearity coefficient…
Bright plane soliton solutions of an integrable (2+1) dimensional ($n+1$)-wave system are obtained by applying Hirota's bilinearization method. First, the soliton solutions of a 3-wave system consisting of two short wave components and one long wave component are found and then the results are generalized to the corresponding integrable ($n+1$)-wave system with $n$ short waves and single long wave. It is shown that the solitons in the short wave components (say $S^{(1)}$ and $S^{(2)}$) can be amplified by merely reducing the pulse width of the long wave component (say L). The study on the coll…
We analyze the properties of the soliton solutions of a class of models describing one-dimensional BEC with spin F. We describe the minimal sets of scattering data which determine uniquely both the corresponding potential of the Lax operator and its scattering matrix. Next we give several reductions of these MNLS, derive their N-soliton solutions and analyze the soliton interactions. Finally we prove an important theorem proving that if the initial conditions satisfy the reduction then one gets a solution of the reduced MNLS.
We obtain multivalley dark soliton solutions with asymmetric or symmetric profiles in multicomponent repulsive Bose-Einstein condensates by developing the Darboux transformation method. We demonstrate that the width-dependent parameters of solitons significantly affect the velocity ranges and phase jump regions of multivalley dark solitons, in sharp contrast to scalar dark solitons. For double-valley dark solitons, we find that the phase jump is in the range $[0,2π]$, which is quite different from that of the usual single-valley dark soliton. Based on our results, we argue that the phase jump …
We construct exact soliton solutions of integrable multicomponent nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equations under general nonvanishing boundary conditions. Different components of the vector (or matrix) dependent variable can approach plane waves with different wavenumbers and frequencies at spatial infinity. We apply Bäcklund-Darboux transformations to the cubic NLS equations with a self-focusing nonlinearity, a self-defocusing nonlinearity or a mixed focusing-defocusing nonlinearity. Both bright-soliton solutions and dark-soliton solutions are obtained, depending on the signs of the nonlinear te…
We consider the integrable multicomponent coherently coupled nonlinear Schrödinger (CCNLS) equations describing simultaneous propagation of multiple fields in Kerr type nonlinear media. The correct bilinear equations of $m$-CCNLS equations are obtained by using a non-standard type of Hirota's bilinearization method and the more general bright one solitons with single hump and double hump profiles including special flat-top profiles are obtained. The solitons are classified as coherently coupled solitons and incoherently coupled solitons depending upon the presence and absence of coherent nonli…
The Darboux-Dressing Transformations are applied to the Lax pair associated to systems of coupled nonlinear wave equations in the case of boundary values which are appropriate to both bright and dark soliton solutions. The general formalism is set up and the relevant equations are explicitly solved. Several instances of multicomponent wave equations of applicative interest, such as vector nonlinear Schroedinger-type equations and three resonant wave equations are considered.

Based on the bilinear operator and symbol calculation, some lump solutions are presented, rationally localized in all directions in the space, to a reduced (3+1)-dimensional KP equation. The lump solutions all contain six parameters, four of which must cater to the non-zero conditions so as to insure the analyticity and rational localization, while the others are free. Then the interaction between lump soliton and one stripe soliton is described and the result shows that the lump soliton will be drowned or swallowed by the stripe soliton. Furthermore, we extend this method to a new combination…
We discuss the dynamics of interacting dark-bright two-dimensional vector solitons in multicomponent immiscible bulk Bose-Einstein condensates. We describe matter-wave molecules without a scalar counterpart that can be seen as bound states of vector objects. We also analyze the possibility of using these structures as building blocks for the design of matter-wave switchers.
In this paper, we study the dynamics of an interesting class of vector solitons in the long wave-short wave resonance interaction (LSRI) system. The model that we consider here describes the nonlinear interaction of the long-wave and two-short waves and it generically appears in several physical settings. To derive this class of nondegenerate vector soliton solutions we adopt the Hirota bilinear method with the more general form of admissible seed solutions with nonidentical distinct propagation constants. We express the resultant fundamental as well as multi-soliton solutions in a compact way…
In this paper, a generalized long-wave short-wave resonance interaction system, which describes the nonlinear interaction between a short-wave and a long-wave in fluid dynamics, plasma physics and nonlinear optics, is considered. Using the Hirota bilinear method, the general $N$-bright and $N$-dark soliton solutions are deduced and their Gram determinant forms are obtained. A special feature of the fundamental bright soliton solution is that, in general, it behaves like the Korteweg-deVries soliton. However, under a special condition, it also behaves akin to the nonlinear Schrödinger soliton w…
Resonant Y-shaped soliton solutions to the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili II (KPII) equation are modelled as shock solutions to an infinite family of modulation conservation laws. The fully two-dimensional soliton modulation equations, valid in the zero dispersion limit of the KPII equation, are demonstrated to reduce to a one-dimensional system. In this same limit, the rapid transition from the larger Y soliton stem to the two smaller legs limits to a travelling discontinuity. This discontinuity is a multivalued, weak solution satisfying modified Rankine-Hugoniot jump conditions for the one-dimension…
In this paper, we report a more general class of nondegenerate soliton solutions, associated with two distinct wave numbers in different modes, for a certain class of physically important integrable two component nonlinear Schrödinger type equations through bilinearization procedure. In particular, we consider coupled nonlinear Schrödinger (CNLS) equations (both focusing as well as mixed type nonlinearities), coherently coupled nonlinear Schrödinger (CCNLS) equations and long-wave-short-wave resonance interaction (LSRI) system. We point out that the obtained general form of soliton solutions e…
This work deals with matter-wave bright soliton molecules in spin-1 Bose-Einstein condensates described by three-component Gross-Pitaevskii equations with non-autonomous nonlinearities that can be tuned by Feshbach resonance management. Notably, it portrays the possibility of generating bright bound soliton molecules with the help of an exact analytic solution under a controlled velocity resonance mechanism. Results show that these soliton molecules experience the effects of time-varying nonlinearities and modulate themselves during propagation by keeping their stable properties. Significantly…
New resonant emission of dispersive waves by oscillating solitary structures is considered analytically and numerically. The resonance condition for the radiation is derived and it is demonstrated that the predicted resonances match the spectral lines observed in numerical simulations perfectly. The complex recoil of the radiation on the soliton dynamics is discussed.
We report on the experimental observation of period doubling of multiple dissipative-soliton-resonance (DSR) pulses in an all-normal-dispersion fiber laser based on a nonlinear amplifying loop mirror. By increasing the pump power, in addition to the typically linearly pulse broadening under fixed pulse peak power, the jump from a single DSR pulse to multiple DSR pulses was observed. During this process, the period doubling appears, that is, the DSR pulses can exhibit the characteristics of period doubling in a multi-pulse state. The typical DSR performance of linearly pulse duration change ver…
We report on the experimental observation of period-doubling bifurcation of dissipative-soliton-resonance (DSR) pulses in a fiber laser passively mode-locked by using the nonlinear optical loop mirror. Increasing the pump power of the fiber laser, we show that temporally a stable, uniform DSR pulse train could be transformed into a period-doubling state, exhibiting two sets of pulse parameters between the adjacent cavity roundtrip. It is found that DSR pulses in the period-doubling state could maintain the typical feature of DSR pulse: fixed pulse peak power and linear variation in pulse width…
We demonstrate that soliton-plasmon bound states appear naturally as propagating eigenmodes of nonlinear Maxwell's equations for a metal/dielectric/Kerr interface. By means of a variational method, we give an explicit and simplified expression for the full-vector nonlinear operator of the system. Soliplasmon states (propagating surface soliton-plasmon modes) can be then analytically calculated as eigenmodes of this non-selfadjoint operator. The theoretical treatment of the system predicts the key features of the stationary solutions and gives physical insight to understand the inherent stabili…
Exact self-consistent soliton dynamics based on the Bogoliubov-de Gennes (BdG) formalism in unconventional Fermi superfluids/superconductors possessing an $SU(d)$-symmetric two-body interaction is presented. The derivation is based on the ansatz having the similar form as the Gelfand-Levitan-Marchenko equation in the inverse scattering theory. Our solutions can be regarded as a multicomponent generalization of the solutions recently derived by Dunne and Thies [Phys. Rev. Lett. 111, 121602 (2013)]. We also propose superpositions of occupation states, which make it possible to realize various fi…
We analyze gap solitons in trapped Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) in optical lattice potentials under Feshbach resonance management. Starting with an averaged Gross-Pitaevsky (GP) equation with a periodic potential, we employ an envelope wave approximation to derive coupled-mode equations describing the slow BEC dynamics in the first spectral gap of the optical lattice. We construct exact analytical formulas describing gap soliton solutions and examine their spectral stability using the Chebyshev interpolation method. We show that these gap solitons are unstable far from the threshold of loc…
Dissipative soliton resonance (DSR) is a promising way for high-energy pulse generation typically having a symmetrical square pulse profile. While this method is well known, the impact of third order dispersion (TOD) on DSR is yet to be fully addressed in the literature. In this article, the impact of TOD on DSR is numerically investigated under the frame of the complex cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation (CQGLE). Our numerical investigations indicate that DSR can stably exist under TOD with nearly the same pulse amplitude, but with a (significantly) different pulse duration. Depending on t…
For waveguides with two separate regions of anomalous dispersion, it is possible to create a quasi-stable two-color solitary wave. In this paper we consider how those waves interact with dispersive radiation, both generation of Cherenkov radiation and scattering of incident dispersive waves. We derive the analytic resonance conditions and verify them through numeric experiments. We also report incident radiation driving the internal oscillations of the soliton during the scattering process in case of an intense incident radiation. We generalize the resonance conditions for the case of an oscil…
Motivated by recent experiments, we present the time-optimal variational control of bright matter-wave soliton trapped in a quasi-one-dimensional harmonic trap by manipulating the atomic attraction through Feshbach resonances. More specially, we first apply a time-dependent variational method to derive the motion equation for capturing the soliton's shape, and secondly combine inverse engineering with optimal control theory to design the atomic interaction for implementing time-optimal decompression. Since the time-optimal solution is of bang-bang type, the smooth regularization is further ado…
We consider the propagation of solitons in media with an imprinted transverse periodic or parabolic refractive index modulation when the modulation depth slightly fluctuates along the propagation direction. We find that, under suitable spectral resonance conditions, small transverse soliton oscillations may get parametrically amplified.
We show how access to sufficiently flexible trapping potentials could be exploited in the generation of three-dimensional atomic bright matter-wave solitons. Our proposal provides a route towards producing bright solitonic states with good fidelity, in contrast to, for example, a non-adiabatic sweeping of an applied magnetic field through a Feshbach resonance.
On-chip manipulation of single resonance over broad background comb spectra of microring resonators is indispensable, ranging from tailoring laser emission, optical signal processing to non-classical light generation, yet challenging without scarifying the quality factor or inducing additional dispersive effects. Here, we propose an experimentally feasible platform to realize on-chip selective depletion of single resonance in microring with decoupled dispersion and dissipation, which are usually entangled by Kramer-Kroning relation. Thanks to the existence of non-Hermitian singularity, unsplit…

We present a first-principles derivation of the variational equations describing the dynamics of the interaction of a spatial soliton and a surface plasmon polariton (SPP) propagating along a metal/dielectric interface. The variational ansatz is based on the existence of solutions exhibiting differentiated and spatially resolvable localized soliton and SPP components. These states, referred to as soliplasmons, can be physically understood as bound states of a soliton and a SPP. Their respective dispersion relations permit the existence of a resonant interaction between them, as pointed out in …
We consider a topological Floquet insulator realized as a honeycomb array of helical waveguides imprinted in weakly birefringent medium. The system accounts for four-wave mixing occurring at a series of resonances arising due to Floquet phase matching. Under these resonant conditions, the system sustains stable linearly polarized and metastable elliptically polarized two-component edge solitons. Coupled nonlinear equations describing evolution of the envelopes of such solitons are derived.
This paper deals with the temporal nonlinear dynamics of plasmon-solitons in a plasmonic waveguide. Duffing equation is recognized as the temporal part of the nonlinear amplitude equation governing the plasmonic waveguide. It is shown that Duffing oscillator waveforms stand for the temporal nonlinear dynamics of plasmon-soliton waves. The exchange of Lorentz-type bright and dark solitons energies gives rise to a Fano resonance. It is thus shown that the interaction of solitons and the formation of plasmon-solitons is inherently nonlinear. It is accordingly indicated that the nonlinear modulati…
The primary resonance equation in partial derivatives with external force and slowly varying frequency is derived. The leading-order term of asymptotic solution is constructed as a soliton with growing amplitude when time is large. This growing solution is obtained due to the decaying amplitude of the external force. A necessary condition for the growth of the solution in dissipative media is obtained also.
Nonlinear waveguides with two distinct domains of anomalous dispersion can support the formation of molecule-like two-color pulse compounds. They consist of two tightly bound subpulses with frequency loci separated by a vast frequency gap. Perturbing such a two-color pulse compound triggers periodic amplitude and width variations, reminiscent of molecular vibrations. With increasing strength of perturbation, the dynamics of the pulse compound changes from harmonic to nonlinear oscillations. The periodic amplitude variations enable coupling of the pulse compound to dispersive waves, resulting i…
