The fluctuations of 5D self-gravitating non-abelian kinks which arise from the breaking of the SU(5) X Z2 symmetric theory are analyzed within the context of brane-worlds. While tensor and vector sectors of these fluctuations behave like its counterparts in the standard abelian Z2 kinks, the mixing between the field excitations of the non-abelian kink and the scalar components of the metric makes the pure scalar sector of the theory very interesting. The spectrum of these scalar fluctuations, which includes gravitationally trapped massless modes on the core of the wall associated to the broken symmetries, is discussed for the two classes of kinks that break SU(5) to its maximal subgroups.
Warped braneworld scenario provides an alternative to the usual Kaluza-Klein compactification of extra dimensions through the so-called localization of fields. Randall-Sundrum type models do not directly prove, rather, assume that all standard model fields are localized to the TeV brane. I will provide the mechanism for addressing the problem and discuss the issue of localization of fields on the brane for various types of braneworld models available in the literature.
The localization of metric fluctuations on scalar brane configurations breaking spontaneously five-dimensional Poincaré invariance is discussed. Assuming that the four-dimensional Planck mass is finite and that the geometry is regular, it is demonstrated that the vector and scalar fluctuations of the metric are not localized on the brane.
In this work, we explore a mechanism for abelian gauge field localization on thick branes based on a five-dimensional Stueckelberg-like action. A normalizable zero mode is found through the identification of a suitable coupling function between the brane and the gauge field. The same mechanism is studied for the localization of the abelian Kalb--Ramond field.
Recently, Pal and Skar in [arXiv:hep-th/0701266] proposed a mechanism to arise the warped braneworld models from bulk tachyon matter, which are endowed with a thin brane and a thick brane. In this framework, we investigate localization of fermionic fields on these branes. As in the 1/2 spin case, the field can be localized on both the thin and thick branes with inclusion of scalar background. In the 3/2 spin extension, the general supergravity action coupled to chiral supermultiplets is considered to produce the localization on both the branes as a result.
In this paper we study fermion localization and resonances on a special type of braneworld model supporting brane splitting. In such models one can construct multi-wall branes which cause considerable simplification in field equations. We use a polynomial superpotential to construct this brane. The suitable Yukawa coupling between the background scalar field and localized fermion is determined. The massive fermion resonance spectrum is obtained. The number of resonances is increased for higher values of Yukawa coupling.
Localization and mass spectrum of bosonic and fermionic matter fields of some novel families of asymmetric thick brane configurations generated by deformed defects are investigated. The localization profiles of spin 0, spin 1/2 and spin 1 bulk fields are identified for novel matter field potentials supported by thick branes with internal structures. The condition for localization is constrained by the brane thickness of each model such that thickest branes strongly induces matter localization. The bulk mass terms for both fermion and boson fields are included in the global action as to produce…
In this work we analyze the localization of fermions on degenerate and critical Bloch branes. This is done directly on physical coordinates, in constrast to some works that has been using conformal coordinates. We find the range of coupling constants of the interaction of fermions with the scalar fields that allow us to have normalizable fermion zero-mode localized on the brane on both, critical and degenerate Bloch branes. In the case of critical branes our results agree with those found in [Class. Quantum Grav. \textbf{27} (2010) 185001]. The results on fermion localization on degenerate Blo…
We discuss some of the localization issues associated with the embedding of Robertson-Walker type Randall-Sundrum branes in a bulk $AdS_5$. Specifically, we show that of the branes which are embeddable in $AdS_5$ the geometry associated with $M_4$ and $dS_4$ branes warps away from the brane while that associated with $AdS_4$ and $RW$ branes of any spatial 3-curvature antiwarps away from the brane. We discuss the gravitational fluctuations around an $M_4$ brane and analyze the specific role played by a delta function singularity at the brane. We show how a bulk sine-Gordon scalar field can with…
We follow the Chumbes-Holf da Silva-Hott (CHH) mechanism to study the (qusi-)localization of $U(1)$ gauge field on the Bloch brane. The localization of $U(1)$ gauge field is discussed for four kinds of Bloch brane solutions: the original Bloch brane solution, the generalized Bloch brane solution, and the degenerate Bloch brane solutions I and II. With the CHH mechanism, we find that the mass spectrum of the gauge field Kaluza-Klein modes is continuous and only the zero mode of the gauge field is localized on the brane. For the massive modes, there exist resonant modes only on the degenerate Bl…
Different from the Dirac spinor, the localization of a five-dimensional Elko spinor on a brane with codimension one is very difficult because of the special structure of the Elko spinor. By introducing the coupling between the Elko spinor and the scalar field generating the brane, we have two mechanisms for localization of the zero mode of a five-dimensional Elko spinor on a brane. One is the Yukawa-type coupling and the other is the non-minimal coupling. In this paper, we investigate the localization of the Elko zero mode on de Sitter and Anti-de Sitter thick branes with the two localization …
We propose a brane-world, which contains flavor quarks and mesons, by embedding dimensionally reduced D7-brane in both the supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric 5d background which are obtained as the solutions of type IIB supergravity compactified on Ad$S_5\times S^5$. In the supersymmetric case, the RS brane can be put at any point of the fifth coordinate, but it is pushed to the Ad$S_5$ boundary in the non-supersymmetric case. We study the localization of the flavor mesons, the fluctuation-modes of D7-brane, on the Randall-Sundrum brane in these backgrounds.
We show that the statement in Yu-Xiao Liu, Xiang-Nan Zhou, Ke Yang and Feng-Wei Chen [Phys. Rev. D 86 , 064012 (2012)] that the zero mode of ELKO spinor is localized in some thin brane scenarios is not correct. This reopens the problem of localization of ELKO spinors.
In this work we analyze the localization of fermions on a brane embedded in five-dimensional, warped and non-warped, space-time. In both cases we use the same nonlinear theoretical model with a non-polynomial potential featuring a self-interacting scalar field whose minimum energy solution is a soliton (a kink) which can be continuously deformed into a two-kink. Thus a single brane splits into two branes. The behavior of spin 1/2 fermions wavefunctions on the split brane depends on the coupling of fermions to the scalar field and on the geometry of the space-time.
We address the localization of a scalar field, whose bulk-mass M is considered in a wide range including the tachyonic region,on a three-brane. The brane with non-zero cosmological constant $λ$ is embedded in five dimensional bulk space. We find in this case that the trapped scalar could have mass $m$ which has an upper bound and expressed as $m^2=m_0^2+αM^2\leq β|λ|$ with the calculable numbers $m_0^2, α, β$. We point out that this result would be important to study the stability of the brane and cosmological problems based on the brane-world.
We address the localization of gravity on the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker type brane embedded in either $AdS_{5}$ or $dS_{5}$ bulk space, and derive two definite limits between which the value of the bulk cosmological constant has to lie in order to localize the graviton on the brane. The lower limit implies that the brane should be either $dS_{4}$ or 4d Minkowski in the $AdS_{5}$ bulk. The positive upper limit indicates that the gravity can be trapped also on curved brane in the $dS_{5}$ bulk space. Some implications to recent cosmological scenarios are also discussed.
We introduce a numerical procedure to investigate the spectrum of massive modes and its contribution for gravity localization on thick branes. After considering a model with an analytically known Schroedinger potential, we present the method and discuss its applicability. With this procedure we can study several models even when the Schroedinger potential is not known analytically. We discuss both the occurrence of localization of gravity and the correction to the Newtonian potential given by the massive modes.
We study the localization of various bulk fields on an $AdS_4$ brane in $AdS_5$. In this case, for a small brane cosmological constant, all the bulk fields ranging from scalar to graviton are naturally confined to the brane only through the gravitational interaction. In particular, for the vector field we can find an interesting zero mode solution which satisfies the box boundary condition. In the cases of spin 1/2 spinor and 3/2 gravitino fields, the form of zero modes is very similar to as in a flat Minkowski brane, but they are trapped on the $AdS_4$ brane even without introducing a mass te…
In this paper, we investigate localization of a free massless $q-$form bulk field on thin and thick $AdS_{p+1}$ branes with codimension one. It is found that the zero mode of the $q-$form field with $q>(p+2)/2$ can be localized on the thin negative tension brane, which is different from the flat brane case given in [JHEP 10 (2012) 060]. For the thick $AdS_{p+1}$ branes, the $q-$form field with $q>(p+2)/2$ also has a localized zero mode under some conditions. Furthermore, we find that there are massive bound KK modes of the $q-$form field, which are localized on this type $p-$branes.
Recently, a new scalar-tensor braneworld model was presented in [Phys. Rev. \textbf{D 86} (2012) 127502]. It not only solves the gauge hierarchy problem but also reproduces a correct Friedmann-like equation on the brane. In this new model, there are two different brane solutions, for which the mass spectra of gravity on the brane are the same. In this paper, we investigate localization and mass spectra of various bulk matter fields (i.e., scalar, vector, Kalb-Ramond, and fermion fields) on the brane. It is shown that the zero modes of all the matter fields can be localized on the positive tens…
We show how the spin 3/2 gravitino field can be localized on a brane in a general framework of supergravity theory. Provided that a scalar field coupled to the Rarita-Schwinger field develops an vacuum expectation value (VEV) whose phase depends on the 'radial' coordinate in extra internal space, the gravitino is localized on a brane with the exponentially decreasing warp factor by selecting an appropriate value of the VEV.
The family of brane-world solutions of d+1-dimensional dilatonic gravity is presented. It includes flat brane with small cosmological constant and (anti) de Sitter brane, dilatonic brane-world black holes (Schwarzschild-(anti-) de Sitter, Kerr, etc). Gravitational and dilatonic perturbations around such branes are found. It is shown that near dilatonic brane-world black hole the gravity may be localized in a standard form. The brane corrections to Newton law are estimated. The proposal to take into account the dilaton coupled brane matter quantum effects is made. The corresponding effective ac…
We consider the effects of spacetime curvature and brane thickness on the localization of gauge fields on a brane via kinetic terms induced by localized fermions. We find that in a warped geometry with and infinitely thin brane, both the infrared and the ultraviolet behavior of the electromagnetic propagator are affected, providing a more stringent bound on the brane's tension than that coming from the requirement of four-dimensional gravity on the brane. On the other hand, for a thick wall in a flat spacetime, where the fermions are localized by means of a Yukawa coupling, we find that 4-dime…
We discuss the dynamics of a spherically symmetric dark radiation vaccum in the Randall-Sundrum brane world scenario. Under certain natural assumptions we show that the Einstein equations on the brane form a closed system. For a de Sitter brane we determine exact dynamical and inhomogeneous solutions which depend on the brane cosmological constant, on the dark radiation tidal charge and on its initial configuration. We define the conditions leading to singular or globally regular solutions. We also analyse the localization of gravity near the brane and show that a phase transition to a regime …
A new solution to Einstein's equations with a negative bulk cosmological constant in infinite (1+5)-spacetime is found. It is shown that the zero modes of all kinds of matter fields and 4-gravity are localized in (1+3) subspace by the increasing and limited from above warp factor.
We consider $(4,1)$-dimensional branes constructed with two scalar fields $ϕ$ and $χ$ coupled to a Dirac spinor field by means of a general Yukawa coupling. The equation of motion for the coefficients of the chiral decomposition of the spinor in curved spacetime leads to a Schödinger-like equation whose solutions allow to obtain the masses of the fermionic modes. The simplest Yukawa coupling $\barΨϕχΨ$ is considered for the Bloch brane model and fermion localization is studied. We found resonances for both chiralities and related their appearance to branes with internal structure.
In this work we study two types of five-dimensional braneworld models given by sine-Gordon potentials. In both scenarios, the thick brane is generated by a real scalar field coupled to gravity. We focus our investigation on the localization of graviton field and the behaviour of the massive spectrum. In particular, we analyse the localization of massive modes by means of a relative probability method in a Quantum Mechanics context. Initially, considering a scalar field sine-Gordon potential, we find a localized state to the graviton at zero mode. However, when we consider a double sine-Gordon …
We consider real and complex scalar fields non-minimally coupled to gravity in the bulk spacetime and study their impact on the brane upon acquiring a non-vanishing vacuum expectation value. When examining the case of the complex scalar field, a minimally coupled U(1) gauge field is also considered so that spontaneous symmetry breaking can take place. Particular attention is paid to the terms arising from the junction conditions, which act towards reinforcing the mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking. We find that the embedding of a braneworld universe in a bulk spacetime endowed with mat…
In a recent paper published in this journal, Zhao and collaborators [Phys. Rev. D \textbf{82}, 084030 (2010)] analyze a toy model of thick branes generated by a real scalar field with the potential $V(ϕ)=aϕ^{2}-bϕ^{4}+cϕ^{6}$, and investigate the variation of the mass parameter $a$ on the branes as well as the localization and resonances of fermions. In that research the simplest Yukawa coupling $η\barΨϕΨ$ was considered. In that work does not analyze the zero mode in details and also contains some misconceptions. In this paper, the effect of the variation of the mass parameter $a$ on the bran…
We consider chiral fermion confinement in scalar thick branes, which are known to localize gravity, coupled through a Yukawa term. The conditions for the confinement and their behavior in the thin-wall limit are found for various different BPS branes, including double walls and branes interpolating between different AdS_5 spacetimes. We show that only one massless chiral mode is localized in all these walls, whenever the wall thickness is keep finite. We also show that, independently of wall's thickness, chiral fermionic modes cannot be localized in dS_4 walls embedded in a M_5 spacetime. Fina…
We construct brane solutions in 6 dimensional Einstein-Skyrme systems. A class of baby skyrmion solutions realizes warped compactification of the extra dimensions and gravity localization on the brane for negative bulk cosmological constant. Coupling of the fermions with the brane skyrmions lead to the brane localized fermions. In terms of the level crossing picture, emergence of the massive localized modes as well as the zero mode are observed. Nonlinear nature of the skyrmions brings richer information for the fermions level structure. The level comprises doubly degenerate lowest plus single…
In this work we study a scenario with a warped 5D smooth braneworld with 4D Minkowski geometry builded from bulk scalar matter non-minimally coupled to gravity with an additional Gauss-Bonnet term. We present exact solutions for the full braneworld configuration in contrast to previous results where only approximate solutions were constructed due to the highly non-linear character of the relevant differential equations. These solutions allow us to study the necessary conditions for the finiteness of the 4D Planck mass and additionally, enables us to perform a more rigorous analysis of 4D gravi…
We present a new $(p - 1)$-brane solution to Einstein's equations in a general space-time dimension. This solution is a natural generalization of the stringlike defect solution with codimension 2 in 6 space-time dimensions, which has been recently discovered by Gogberashvili and Singleton, to a general $(p - 1)$-brane solution with codimension $n$ in general $D = p + n$ space-time dimensions. It is shown that all the local fields are localized on the brane only through the gravitational interaction although this solution does not have a warp factor and takes a finite value in the radial infini…
In the microcanonical ensemble for string theory on $ AdS_m \times S^n$, there is a phase transition between a black hole solution extended over the $S^n$ and a solution localized on the $S^n$ if the $AdS_m$ has the topology $R^2 \times S^{m-2}$. The phase transition will not appear if the $AdS_m$ has the topology $R^2 \times T^{m-2}$, that is, when the $AdS_m\times S^n$ geometry is regarded as arising from the near-horizon limit of a black $m-2$ brane. In this paper, we argue that when the black branes are rotating, the localization phase transition will occur between some rotating branes and…
We discuss the relation between two different models which are recently proposed as the model of localizing bulk gauge fields on a brane. In the former model, the localization of gauge field is achieved by adding both bulk and boundary mass terms while in the latter, it is done by taking into consideration the coupling between the gauge field and the dilaton field (this model is also regarded as the gauge theory with nontrivial dielectric ``constant''). We make a certain transformation for the gauge field in the latter Lagrangian. As the result, we find those two models are closely related to …
Brane world models with a non-minimally coupled bulk scalar field have been studied recently. In this paper we consider metric fluctuations around an arbitrary gravity-scalar background solution, and we show that the corresponding spectrum includes a localized zero mode which strongly depends on the profile of the background scalar field. For a special class of solutions, with a warp factor of the RS form, we solve the linearized Einstein equations, for a point-like mass source on the brane, by using the brane bending formalism. We see that general relativity on the brane is recovered only if …
Besides the String Theory context, the quantum General Relativity can be studied by the use of constrained topological field theories. In the celebrated Plebanski formalism, the constraints connecting topological field theories and gravity are imposed in space-times with trivial topology. In the braneworld context there are two distinct regions of the space-time, namely, the bulk and the braneworld volume. In this work we show how to construct topological gravity in a scenario containing one extra dimension and a delta-function like 3-brane which naturally emerges from a spontaneously broken d…
Spin 1/2 fields localization on an asymmetric dS${}_4$ scenario, where the brane interpolates between two spacetimes dS${}_5$ and AdS${}_5$, is determined. The bulk spinor is coupled to scalar field of the brane by a nonminimal Yukawa term compatible with the scenario's geometry. We show that, independently of wall's thickness, only one massless chiral mode is localized on the wall. The massive chiral modes follow a Schrödinger equation, whose potential has a mass gap determined by Yukawa constant, which is a generic property of this system. The fermions spectrum is defined bellow the gap, by …
It is well known that the U(1) gauge vector field, with the standard five-dimensional (5D) action, cannot be localized on Randall-Sundrum-like braneworlds with an infinite extra dimension. In this paper, we propose a modified 5D action to localize U(1) gauge vector field on flat branes with an infinite or finite extra dimension. The localization method is realized by adding a dynamical mass term into the standard 5D action of the vector field, which is proportional to the 5D scalar curvature. It is shown that the vector zero mode is localizable if the 5D spacetime is (asymptotic) $AdS_{5}$. Mo…
In this work, we consider the multi-wall braneworld arisen from multi-scalar fields, and investigate the localization and resonances of spin-1/2 fermion on the multi-walls. We build two analytic multi-wall solutions with a polynomial superpotential and a modified sine-Gordon superpotential respectively. The massless fermion is the only bound state and localized between the two outermost sub-branes. The factors affecting the number of massive resonant fermions are analyzed. What interesting is that all the fermion resonant states are non-degenerate for the cases of single- and two-walls, howeve…
In the literatures, several types of thick smooth brane configurations in a pure geometric Weyl integrable 5-dimensional space time have been presented. The Weyl geometry is a non-Riemannian modification of 5-dimensional Kaluza--Klein (KK) theory. All these thick brane solutions preserve 4-dimensional Poincaré invariance, and some of them break $Z_2$--symmetry along the extra dimension. In this paper, we study localization of various matter fields on these pure geometrical thick branes, which also localize the graviton. We present the shape of the potential of the corresponding Schr$\mathrm{\d…
A mechanism for localization of quantum fields on a $s$-brane, representing the boundary of a s+2 dimensional bulk space, is investigated. Minkowski and AdS bulk spaces are analyzed. Besides the background geometry, the relevant parameters controlling the theory are the mass M and a real parameter η, specifying the boundary condition on the brane. The importance of exploring the whole range of allowed values for these parameters is emphasized. Stability in Minkowski space requires ηto be greater or equal to -M, whereas in the AdS background all real ηare permitted. Both in the flat and in AdS …
We make an analysis about several aspects of localization of a scalar field and a Kalb-Ramond gauge field in a specific four dimensional AdS membrane embedded in a five dimensional space-time. The membrane is generated from a deformation of the $λϕ^4$ potential and belongs to a new class of defect solutions. The study of deformed defects is important because they contain internal structures and these may have implications to the way the background space-time is constructed and the way its curvature behaves. The main objective is to observe the contributions of the deformation procedure to the …
We consider an dS_4 brane embedded in a five-dimensional bulk with a positive, vanishing or negative bulk cosmological constant and derive the localized graviton spectrum that consists of a normalizable zero-mode separated by a gap from a continuum of massive states. We estimate the massive sector contribution to the static potential at short distances and find that only in the case of a negative bulk cosmological constant there is a range, determined by the effective four-dimensional and the bulk cosmological constants, where the conventional Newton law is valid.
We demonstrate explicitly that the vacuum expectation values (vevs) of BPS line operators in 4d N=2 super Yang-Mills theory compactified on a circle, computed by localization techniques, can be expanded in terms of Darboux coordinates as proposed by Gaiotto, Moore, and Neitzke [arXiv:1006.0146]. However, we need to refine the expansion by including additional novel monopole bubbling contributions to obtain a precise match. Using D-brane realization of these singular BPS line operators, we derive and incorporate the monopole bubbling contributions as well as predict the degeneracies of framed B…
We report the issues of localization of various bulk fields on a brane in a curved background from a local field-theoretic viewpoint where a special attention is paid to a warp geometry in a general space-time dimension. We point out that spin 0 scalar field and spin 2 graviton are naturally localized on a brane with the exponentially decreasing warp factor, while spin 1/2 and 3/2 fermionic fields can be localized on the brane by introducing a bulk mass term with a 'kink' profile. {}For the localization of spin 1 vector field on the brane with the exponentially decreasing warp factor, it is sh…
A supersymmetric Randall-Sundrum brane-world demands that not merely the graviton but the entire supergravity multiplet be trapped on the brane. To demonstrate this, we present a complete ansatz for the reduction of (D=5,N=4) gauged supergravity to (D=4,N=2) ungauged supergravity in the Randall-Sundrum geometry. We verify that it is consistent to lowest order in fermion terms. In particular, we show how the graviphotons avoid the `no photons on the brane' result because they do not originate from Maxwell's equations in D=5 but rather from odd-dimensional self-duality equations. In the case of …
We study quantum aspects of the target space of the non-linear sigma model which is a low-energy effective theory of the gauged linear sigma model (GLSM). As such, we especially compute the exact sphere partition function of GLSM for KK$5$-branes whose background geometry is a Taub-NUT space, using the supersymmetric localization technique on the Coulomb branch. From the sphere partition function, we distill the world-sheet instanton effects. In particular, we show that concerning the single-centered Taub-NUT space, the instanton contributions exist only if the asymptotic radius of the $S^1$ f…
This work deals with gravity localization on codimension-1 brane worlds engendered by compacton-like kinks, the so-called hybrid branes. In such scenarios, the thin brane behaviour is manifested when the extra dimension is outside the compact domain, where the energy density is non-trivial, instead of asymptotically as in the usual thick brane models. The zero mode is trapped in the brane, as required. The massive modes, although are not localized in the brane, have important phenomenological implications such as corrections to the Newton's law. We study such corrections in the usual thick dom…
In this paper, we investigate localization of a bulk massless q-form field on codimension-one brane by using a new Kaluza-Klein (KK) decomposition, for which there are two types of KK modes for the bulk q-form field, the q-form and (q-1)-form modes. The first modes may be massive or massless while the second ones are all masselss. These two types fo KK modes satisfy twy Schrodinger-like equations. For a five-dimensional brane model with a finite dimension, the spectrum of a bulk 3-form field on the brane consists of some massive bound 3-form KK modes as well as some massless bound 2-form ones …
In this paper we investigate the localization and mass spectra of matter fields with spin 0, 1 and 1/2 on a geometric thick brane generated by pure 4D and 5D positive cosmological constants without bulk scalar fields. This model possesses a 4D cosmological constant that can be made as small as one desires without fine-tuning it with the bulk cosmological constant. The RS model is obtained as an analytic continuation of the flat brane limit of this braneworld configuration when the Hubble parameter disappears. Within this inflating braneworld model it is possible to formulate a mechanism for ob…
The general procedure for analyzing the localization of matter fields in Brane models is by integrating, in the action, its zero mode solutions over the extra dimensions. If this is finite, the field is said to be localized. However, the zero mode solutions must also satisfy the Einstein equations. With this in mind, we obtain stringent constraints on a general energy-momentum tensor by analyzing the Einstein's equations. These {\it consistency conditions} must be satisfied for any Braneworld model. We apply it for some fields of the Standard Model. For a free massless scalar field, the zero-m…
It is well known that in a braneworld model, the localization of fermions on lower dimensional submanifold (say a TeV 3-brane) is governed by the gravity in the bulk which also determines the corresponding phenomenology on the brane. Here we consider a five dimensional warped spacetime where the bulk geometry is governed by higher curvature like F(R) gravity. In such a scenario, we explore the role of higher curvature terms on the localization of bulk fermions which in turn determines the effective radion-fermion coupling on the brane. Our result reveals that for appropriate choices of the hig…
The question of whether the Kaluza-Klein (KK) graviphoton $h_{5μ}$ and graviscalar $h_{55}$ are localized or not on the brane is one of the important issues. In this letter, we address this problem in five dimensions. Here we consider the massless (zero-mode) propagations without requiring the Z$_2$-symmetry on $h_{5μ}$. We obtain the graviton $h_{μν}$, graviphoton, and graviscalar exchange amplitudes on shell. We find that the graviscalar has a tachyonic mass. It turns out that $h_{5μ}$ admits the localized zero-modes on the brane while $h_{55}$ does not have a localized zero-mode. This is co…
In this paper we give a microscopical description of certain configurations of branes wrapping black hole horizons in terms of dielectric gravitational waves. Interestingly, the configurations are stable only due to the gravitational background. Therefore, this constitutes a nice example of purely gravitational dielectric effect.
In this paper we present two different solutions to the problem of zero mode localization of ELKO spinor. In a recent paper the present authors reopened this problem since the solution presented before did not satisfy the boundary condition at the origin. The first solution is given by the introduction of a mass term and by coupling the spinor with the brane through a delta function. The second solution is reached by a Yukawa geometrical coupling with the Ricci scalar. This two models changes consistently the the boundary condition at infinity and at the origin. For the case of Geometrical cou…
It is important to reveal the brane-bulk correspondence for understanding the brane world cosmology. When gravitational waves exist in the bulk, however, it is difficult to make the analysis of the interrelationship between the brane and the bulk. Hence, the minimal model which allows gravitational waves in the bulk would be useful. As for such models, we adopt the Bianchi type midi-superspace models. In particular, the effects of gravitational waves in the bulk on the brane cosmology is examined using the midi-superspace approach.
By presenting the mass-independent potentials of the Kaluza-Klein (KK) modes in the corresponding Schrödinger equations, we investigate the localization and mass spectra of various bulk matter fields on an AdS thick brane. For a spin 0 scalar $Φ$ coupled with itself and the domain-wall-forming field $ϕ$ via a coupling potential $V=(λϕ^{2}-u^{2})Φ^{2}+τΦ^{4}$, the localization and spectrum are decided by a critical coupling constant $λ_{0}$. When $λ>λ_0$, the potential of the scalar KK modes in the corresponding Schrödinger equation tends to infinite when far away from the brane, which results …
This proceedings is based on a talk given at the APS DPF 2013 on an alternative 5-dimensional brane world model which is related to but has some physically distinct features from the Randall-Sundrum brane world model. The spin dependent localization of 5D fields for the alternative model are different and in some ways superior to the original Randall- Sundrum Model. The alternative model also exhibits a cutoff in the lo-calization of massive scalar fields not seen in the Randall-Sundrum and includes a self consistent mass prediction of two possible scalar bosons. Setting the warping factor in …
