In this work, we study the existence, multiplicity and concentration of positive solutions for the following class of quasilinear problem: \[ - Δ_Φu + V(εx)ϕ(\vert u\vert)u = f(u)\quad \mbox{in} \quad \mathbb{R}^{N}, \] where $Φ(t) = \int_{0}^{\vert t\vert}ϕ(s)sds$ is a N-function, $ Δ_Φ$ is the $Φ$-Laplacian operator, $ε$ is a positive parameter, $ N\geq 2$, $V : \mathbb{R}^{N} \rightarrow \mathbb{R} $ is a continuous function and $f : \mathbb{R} \rightarrow \mathbb{R} $ is a $C^{1}$-function.
We consider the optimization problem of minimizing $\int_Ω|\nabla u|^p dx$ with a constrain on the volume of $\{u>0\}$. We consider a penalization problem, and we prove that for small values of the penalization parameter, the constrained volume is attained. In this way we prove that every solution $u$ is locally Lipschitz continuous and that the free boundary, $\partial\{u>0\}\cap Ω$, is smooth.
We establish the multiplicity of positive solutions to a quasilinear Neumann problem in expanding balls and hemispheres with critical exponent in the boundary condition.
By using the penalization method and the Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory, we investigate the multiplicity of positive solutions of the following fractional Schrödinger equation $$ \e^{2s}(-Δ)^{s} u + V(x)u = f(u) \mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^{N} $$ where $\varepsilon>0$ is a parameter, $s\in (0, 1)$, $N>2s$, $(-Δ)^{s}$ is the fractional Laplacian, $V$ is a positive continuous potential with local minimum, and $f$ is a superlinear function with subcritical growth. We also obtain a multiplicity result when $f(u)=|u|^{q-2}u+λ|u|^{r-2}u$ with $2<q<2^{*}_{s}\leq r$ and $λ>0$, by combining a truncation arg…
This paper is devoted to the study of the following fractional Choquard equation $$ \varepsilon^{2s}(-Δ)^{s} u + V(x)u = \varepsilon^{μ-N}\left(\frac{1}{|x|^μ}*F(u)\right)f(u) \mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^{N}, $$ where $\varepsilon>0$ is a parameter, $s\in (0, 1)$, $N>2s$, $(-Δ)^{s}$ is the fractional Laplacian, $V$ is a positive continuous potential with local minimum, $0<μ<2s$, and $f$ is a superlinear continuous function with subcritical growth. It is established existence, uniqueness and multiplicity of solutions for a quasilinear elliptic problem problems driven by $Φ$-Laplacian operator. Here we consider the reflexive and nonreflexive cases using an auxiliary problem. In order to prove our main results we employ variational methods, regularity results and truncation techniques.
In this paper, we prove multiplicity of solutions for a class of quasilinear problems in $ \mathbb{R}^{N} $ involving variable exponents and nonlinearities of concave-convex type. The main tools used are variational methods, more precisely, Ekeland's variational principle and Nehari manifolds.
In this paper, we establish existence and multiplicity of solutions for the following class of quasilinear field equation $$ -Δu+V(x)u-Δ_{p}u+W'(u)=0, \,\,\, \mbox{in} \,\,\, \mathbb{R}^{N}, \eqno{(P)} $$ where $u=(u_1,u_2,...,u_{N+1})$, $p>N \geq 2$, $W$ is a singular function and $V$ is a positive continuous function.
In this work, we study the existence and multiplicity of solutions for a class of problems involving the $ϕ$-Laplacian operator in a bounded domain, where the nonlinearity has a critical growth. The main tool used is the variational method combined with the genus theory for even functionals.
We study a boundary value elliptic problem having a lower order nonlinear term with subquadratic growth in the gradient of the solution and possibly singular when the solution vanishes. If the singularity is mild enough (and even in the absence of the singularity), we prove an existence and multiplicity result. On the contrary, we prove an existence and uniqueness result for strong singularities.
In the present paper we deal with a quasilinear problem involving a singular term and a parametric superlinear perturbation. We are interested in the existence, nonexistence and multiplicity of positive solutions as the parameter $λ>0$ varies. In our first result, the superlinear perturbation has an arbitrary growth and we obtain the existence of a solution for the problem by using the sub-supersolution method. For the second result, the superlinear perturbation has subcritical growth and we employ the Mountain Pass Theorem to show the existence of a second solution.
It is established some existence and multiplicity of solution results for a quasilinear elliptic problem driven by $Φ$-Laplacian operator. One of these solutions is built as a ground state solution. In order to prove our main results we apply the Nehari method combined with the concentration compactness theorem in an Orlicz-Sobolev framework. One of the difficulties in dealing with this kind of operator is the lost of homogeneity properties.
A $p$-Laplacian elliptic problem in the presence of both strongly singular and $(p-1)$-superlinear nonlinearities is considered. We employ bifurcation theory, approximation techniques and sub-supersolution method to establish the existence of an unbounded branch of positive solutions, which is bounded in positive $λ-$direction and bifurcates from infinity at $λ=0$. As consequence of the bifurcation result, we determine intervals of existence, nonexistence and, in particular cases, global multiplicity.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the existence, multiplicity and concentration of positive solutions for the following nonlocal system of fractional Schrödinger equations \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} \varepsilon^{2s} (-Δ)^{s}u+V(x)u=Q_{u}(u, v) &\mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^{N}, \varepsilon^{2s} (-Δ)^{s}v+W(x)v=Q_{v}(u, v) &\mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^{N}, u, v>0 &\mbox{ in } \mathbb{R}^{N}, \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $\varepsilon>0$ is a parameter, $s\in (0, 1)$, $N>2s$, $(-Δ)^{s}$ is the fractional Laplacian, $V:\mathbb{R}^{N}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ and $W:\mathbb{R…
In this paper we are concerned with questions of multiplicity and concentration behavior of positive solutions of the elliptic problem $$\left\{\begin{array}{rcl} \mathcal{L}_{\varepsilon}u = f(u) \ \ \mbox{in} \ \ \mathbb{R}^3,\\ u>0 \ \ \mbox{in} \ \ \mathbb{R}^3,\\ u \in H^1 (\mathbb{R}^3), \end{array} \right.$$ where $\varepsilon$ is a small positive parameter, $f:\mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous function, $\mathcal{L}_{\varepsilon}$ is a nonlocal operator defined by $$ \mathcal{L}_{\varepsilon} u = M \left(\frac{1}{\varepsilon} \int_{\mathbb{R}^3} |\nabla u|^2 + \frac{1}{…
In this paper we prove an existence result of multiple positive solutions for the following quasilinear problem \begin{equation*} \left\{ \begin{array}[c]{ll} -Δu - Δ(u^2)u = |u|^{p-2}u & \mbox{ in } Ωu= 0 &\mbox{ on } \partialΩ, \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $Ω$ is a smooth and bounded domain in $\mathbb R^{N},N\geq3$. More specifically we prove that, for $p$ near the critical exponent $22^{*}=4N/(N-2)$, the number of positive solutions is estimated below by topological invariants of the domain $Ω$: the Ljusternick-Schnirelmann category and the Poincaré polynomial.
We study the following boundary value problem (P)\ \ \ \ \ {-\mathrm{div}(a(|\nabla u|)\nabla u)=f(x,u),\ & in $Ω$, u=0, & on $\partialΩ$} with nonhomogeneous principal part. By assuming the nonlinearity $f(x, t)$ being subcritical growth, some abstract results of problem (P) are obtained: (1) Regularity; (2) Orlicz-Sobolev versus Hölder local minimizer; (3) Strong comparison principle. Applying these abstract results and critical point theory, we prove the existence of multiple solutions of problem (P) in an Orlicz-Sobolev space.
For an open, bounded domain $\Om$ in $\mathbb{R}^N$ which is strictly convex with $C^2$ boundary, we show that there exists a $\land>0$ such that the singular quasilinear problem \begin{eqnarray*} &-\delp u =\cfracλ{u^{\del}}+u^q\,\,\mbox{in}\,\,\Om\\ &u=0\,\,\mbox{on}\,\,\partial\Om;\, \,\,u>0\,\,\mbox{in}\,\,\Om \end{eqnarray*} admits atleast two solution $ u$ and $v$ in $W^{1,p}_{loc}(\Om)\cap L^{\infty}(\Om)$ for any $\del>0$ and $0<\lam<\land$ provided $1<p<N$ and $p-1<q<\frac{p(N-1)}{N-p}-1$.\\ Moreover the solutions $u$ and $v$ are such that $u^{\alp}$ and $v^{\alp}$ are in $W^{1,p}_0(\…
By means of a penalization scheme due to del Pino and Felmer, we prove the existence of single-peaked solutions for a class of singularly perturbed quasilinear elliptic equations associated with functionals which lack of smoothness. We don't require neither uniqueness assumptions on the limiting autonomous equation nor monotonicity conditions on the nonlinearity. Compared with the semilinear case some difficulties arise and the study of concentration of the solutions needs a somewhat involved analysis in which the Pucci-Serrin variational identity plays an important role.
In this paper we present some very recent results regarding existence, uniqueness, and multiplicity of solutions for quasilinear elliptic equations and systems, exhibiting both singular and convective reaction terms. The importance of boundary conditions (Dirichlet, Neumann, or Robin) is also discussed. Existence is achieved via sub-supersolution and truncation techniques, fixed point theory, nonlinear regularity, and set-valued analysis, while uniqueness and multiplicity are obtained by monotonicity arguments.
We study the boundary value problem $-{\rm div}(\log(1+ |\nabla u|^q)|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)=f(u)$ in $Ω$, $u=0$ on $\partialΩ$, where $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\RR^N$ with smooth boundary. We distinguish the cases where either $f(u)=-λ|u|^{p-2}u+|u|^{r-2}u$ or $f(u)=λ|u|^{p-2}u-|u|^{r-2}u$, with $p$, $q>1$, $p+q<\min\{N,r\}$, and $r<(Np-N+p)/(N-p)$. In the first case we show the existence of infinitely many weak solutions for any $λ>0$. In the second case we prove the existence of a nontrivial weak solution if $λ$ is sufficiently large. Our approach relies on adequate variational methods …
In this paper, we consider the quasilinear Schrödinger equation \begin{equation*} -Δu+V(x)u-uΔ(u^2)=g(u),\ \ x\in \mathbb{R}^{3}, \end{equation*} where $V$ and $g$ are continuous functions. Without the coercive condition on $V$ or the monotonicity condition on $g$, we show that the problem above has a least energy sign-changing solution and infinitely many sign-changing solutions. Our results especially solve the problem above in the case where $g(u)=|u|^{p-2}u$ ($2<p<4$) and complete some recent related works on sign-changing solutions, in the sense that, in the literature only the case $g(u)…
We obtain existence and multiplicity results for quasilinear fourth order elliptic equations on $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ with sign-changing potential. Our results generalize some recent results on this problem.
The aim of this paper is to establish two results about multiplicity of solutions to problems involving the $1-$Laplacian operator, with nonlinearities with critical growth. To be more specific, we study the following problem $$ \left\{ \begin{array}{l} - Δ_1 u +ξ\frac{u}{|u|} =λ|u|^{q-2}u+|u|^{1^*-2}u, \quad\text{in }Ω, u=0, \quad\text{on } \partialΩ. \end{array} \right. $$ where $Ω$ is a smooth bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$, $N \geq 2$ and $ξ\in\{0,1\}$. Moreover, $λ> 0$, $q \in (1,1^*)$ and $1^*=\frac{N}{N-1}$. The first main result establishes the existence of many rotationally non-equi…
We study the existence and multiplicity of solutions to the elliptic system where RN is a bounded and smooth domain. Using fibering maps and extracting Palais-Smale sequences in the Nehari manifold, we prove the existence of at least two distinct nontrivial nonnegative solutions.
The main purpose of this paper is to establish the existence of positive solutions to a class of quasilinear elliptic equations involving the (p-q)-Laplacian operator. We consider a nonlinearity that can be subcritical at infinity and supercritical at the origin; we also consider potential functions that can vanish at infinity. The approach is based on variational arguments dealing with the mountain-pass lemma and an adaptation of the penalization method. In order to overcome the lack of compactness we modify the original problem and the associated energy functional. Finally, to show that the …

In this paper we prove the existence of a nontrivial non-negative radial solution for a quasilinear elliptic problem. Our aim is to approach the problem variationally by using the tools of critical points theory in an Orlicz-Sobolev space. A multiplicity result is also given.
We study a boundary-value quasilinear elliptic problem on a generic time scale. Making use of the fixed-point index theory, sufficient conditions are given to obtain existence, multiplicity, and infinite solvability of positive solutions.
In this paper, we prove the existence and multiplicity of solutions for a large class of quasilinear problems on a nonreflexive Orlicz-Sobolev space. Here, we use the variational methods developed by Szulkin combined with some properties of the weak$^*$ topology.
Using the framework first presented by Ruf and Sani, we give a proof of an Adams type inequality which can be applied to a nonlinear functional. Under two kinds of assumptions on the nonlinearity, we estimate the min-max level of the functional. As an application, a multiplicity result for the related singular quasilinear elliptic equation is proved.
It is established existence, multiplicity and asymptotic behavior of positive solutions for a quasilinear elliptic problem driven by the $Φ$-Laplacian operator. One of these solutions is obtained as ground state solution by applying the well known Nehari method. The semilinear term in the quasilinear equation is a concave-convex function which presents a critical behavior at infinity. The concentration compactness principle is used in order to recover the compactness required in variational methods.
Results on existence and multiplicity of solutions for a nonlinear elliptic problem driven by the $Φ$-Laplace operator are established. We employ minimization arguments on suitable Nehari manifolds to build a negative and a positive ground state solutions. In order to find a nodal solution we employ additionally the well known Deformation Lemma and Topological Degree Theory.
We prove a bifurcation and multiplicity result that is independent of the dimension N for a critical p-Laplacian problem that is the analog of the Brezis-Nirenberg problem for the quasilinear case. This extends a result in the literature for the semilinear case.
The multiplicity of positive weak solutions for a quasilinear Schrödinger equations $-L_p u +(λA(x)+1)|u|^{p-2}u= h(u)$ in $\mathbb{R}^N$ is established, where $L_p u\doteq ε^{p}Δ_p u +ε^{p}Δ_p (u^2)u$, $A$ is a nonnegative continuous function and nonlinear term $h$ has a subcritical growth. We achieved our results by using minimax methods and Lusternik-Schnirelman theory of critical points.
This work deals with the existence of at least two positive solutions for the class of quasilinear elliptic equations with cylindrical singularities and multiple critical nonlinearities that can be written in the form \begin{align*} -\operatorname{div}\left[\frac{|\nabla u|^{p-2}}{|y|^{ap}}\nabla u\right] -μ\,\frac{u^{p-1}}{|y|^{p(a+1)}} = h\,\frac{u^{p^*(a,b)-1}}{|y|^{bp^*(a,b)}} +λg\,\frac{u^{q-1}}{|y|^{cp^*(a,c)}}, \qquad (x,y) \in \mathbb{R}^{N-k}\times\mathbb{R}^k. \end{align*} We consider $N \geqslant 3$, $λ>0$, $p < k \leqslant N$, $1<p<N$, $0 \leqslant μ<\barμ \equiv \left\{[k-p(a+1)]/…

Thanks to a change of unknown we compare two elliptic quasilinear problems with Dirichlet data in a bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^{N}.$ The first one, of the form $-Δ_{p}u=β(u)| \nabla u| ^{p}+λf(x),$ where $β$ is nonnegative, involves a gradient term with natural growth. The second one, of the form $-Δ_{p}v=λf(x)(1+g(v))^{p-1}$ where $g$ is nondecreasing, presents a source term of order 0. The correlation gives new results of existence, nonexistence and multiplicity for the two problems.
In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity results of nontrivial positive solutions to the following quasilinear elliptic equation on $\RN$, when $N\geq2$, \begin{equation} \Lp u=λ\hspace{0.2mm}K(x)u^{r-1}-V(x)u^{q-1}.\nonumber \end{equation} Here, $K(x),V(x)>0$ are suitable potentials, $1<p<r<q<\infty$, and $λ>0$ is a parameter. To study this problem, some compact embedding results regarding $\MVR\hookrightarrow\LKR$ are proved that unify and extend some recent results of the author \cite{Ha1,Ha2,Ha3}.
It is established existence of bound and ground state solutions for quasilinear elliptic systems driven by (ϕ1, ϕ2)-Laplacian operator. The main feature here is to consider quasilinear elliptic systems involving both nonsingular nonlinearities combined with indefinite potentials and singular cases perturbed by superlinear and subcritical couple terms. These prevent us to use arguments based on Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition and variational methods for differentiable functionals. By exploring the Nehari method and doing a fine analysis on the fibering map associated, we get estimates that allo…

Under a local assumption on the potential $V$, by variational methods, penalization technique, and Ljusternick-Schnirelmann theory, we prove multiplicity and concentration of solutions…
For a class of quasilinear elliptic equations involving the p-Laplace operator, we develop an abstract critical point theory in the presence of sub-supersolutions. Our approach is based upon the proof of the invariance under the gradient flow of enlarged cones in the $W^{1,p}_0$ topology. With this, we prove abstract existence and multiplicity theorems in the presence of variously ordered pairs of sub-supersolutions. As an application, we provide a four solutions theorem, one of the solutions being sign-changing.
