Let $1\le m<n$ be integers, and let $K\subset\mathbb{R}^{n}$ be a self-similar set satisfying the strong separation condition, and with $\dim K=s>m$. We study the a.s. values of the $s-m$-dimensional Hausdorff and packing measures of $K\cap V$, where $V$ is a typical $n-m$-dimensional affine subspace. For $0<ρ<\frac{1}{2}$ let $C_ρ\subset[0,1]$ be the attractor of the IFS $\{f_{ρ,1},f_{ρ,2}\}$, where $f_{ρ,1}(t)=ρ\cdot t$ and $f_{ρ,2}(t)=ρ\cdot t+1-ρ$ for each $t\in\mathbb{R}$. We show that for certain numbers $0<a,b<\frac{1}{2}$, for instance $a=\frac{1}{4}$ and $b=\frac{1}{3}$, if $K=C_{a}\times C_{b}$ then typically we have $\mathcal{H}^{s-m}(K\cap V)=0$.
We extend results by B. Hasselblatt, J. Schmeling in \emph{Dimension product structure of hyperbolic sets} (2004), and by the third author and K. Simon in \emph{Hausdorff and packing measures for solenoids} (2003), for $C^{1+\varepsilon}$ hyperbolic, (partially) linear solenoids $Λ$ over the circle embedded in $\mathbb{R}^3$ non-conformally attracting in the stable discs $W^s$ direction, to nonlinear ones. Under an assumption of transversality and assumptions on Lyapunov exponents for an appropriate Gibbs measure imposing \emph{thinness}, assuming also there is an invariant $C^{1+\varepsilon}$…
A generalized family of transcendental (non-polynomial entire) functions is constructed, where the Hausdorff dimension and the packing dimension of the Julia sets are equal to one. Further, there exist multiply connected wandering domains, the dynamics can be completed described, and for any $s\in(0,+\infty]$, there is a function taken from this family with the order of growth $s$. Baker proved that the Hausdorff dimension of the transcendental function is no less than one in 1975, the minimum value was obtained via an elegant construction by Bishop in 2018. The order of growth is zero in Bish…
Let $μ$ be a Borel probability measure generated by a hyperbolic recurrent iterated function system defined on a nonempty compact subset of $\mathbb R^k$. We study the Hausdorff and the packing dimensions, and the quantization dimensions of $μ$ with respect to the geometric mean error. The results establish the connections with various dimensions of the measure $μ$, and generalize many known results about local dimensions and quantization dimensions of measures.
We prove a number of results concerning the Hausdorff and packing dimension of sets of points which escape (at least in average) to infinity at a given rate under non-autonomous iteration of exponential maps. In particular, we generalize the results proved by Sixsmith in 2016 and answer his question on annular itineraries for exponential maps.
For $λ\in(0,1/3]$ let $C_λ$ be the middle-$(1-2λ)$ Cantor set in $\mathbb R$. Given $t\in[-1,1]$, excluding the trivial case we show that \[ Λ(t):=\left\{λ\in(0,1/3]: C_λ\cap(C_λ+t)\ne\emptyset\right\} \] is a topological Cantor set with zero Lebesgue measure and full Hausdorff dimension. In particular, we calculate the local dimension of $Λ(t)$, which reveals a dimensional variation principle. Furthermore, for any $β\in[0,1]$ we show that the level set \[ Λ_β(t):=\left\{λ\inΛ(t): \dim_H(C_λ\cap(C_λ+t))=\dim_P(C_λ\cap(C_λ+t))=β\frac{\log 2}{-\log λ}\right\} \] has equal Hausdorff and packing d…
