In this article, we study the following $p$-fractional Laplacian equation
\begin{equation*}
(P_{\la}) \left\{ \begin{array}{lr} - 2\int_{\mb R^n}\frac{|u(y)-u(x)|^{p-2}(u(y)-u(x))}{|x-y|^{n+p\al}} dy = \la |u(x)|^{p-2}u(x) + b(x)|u(x)|^{\ba-2}u(x)\; \text{in}\; \Om
\quad \quad\quad\quad \quad\quad\quad\quad\quad \quad u = 0 \; \mbox{in}\; \mb R^n \setminus\Om,\quad u\in W^{\al,p}(\mb R^n).\\ \end{array} \quad \right. \end{equation*} where $\Om$ is a bounded domain in $\mb R^n$ with smooth boundary, $n> p\al$, $p\geq 2$, $\al\in(0,1)$, $\la>0$ and $b:\Om\subset\mb R^n \ra \mb R$ is a sign-changing continuous function. We show the existence and multiplicity of non-negative solutions of $(P_{\la})$ with respect to the parameter $\la$, which changes according to whether $1<\ba<p$ or $p< \ba< p^{*}=\frac{np}{n-p\al}$ respectively. We discuss both the cases separately. Non-existence results are also obtained.
We investigate the existence of nodal (sign-changing) solutions to the Dirichlet problem for two-parametric family of partially homogeneous $(p,q)$-Laplace equations $-Δ_p u -Δ_q u=α|u|^{p-2}u+β|u|^{q-2}u$ where $p \neq q$. By virtue of the Nehari manifolds, linking theorem, and descending flow, we explicitly characterize subsets of $(α,β)$-plane which correspond to the existence of nodal solutions. In each subset the obtained solutions have prescribed signs of energy and, in some cases, exactly two nodal domains. The nonexistence of nodal solutions is also studied. Additionally, we explore se…
We use a variant of the fountain Theorem to prove the existence of infinitely many weak solutions for the following fractional p-Laplace equation (-Δ)^{s}_{p}u+V(x)|u|^{p-2}u=f(x,u) in R^N, where $s \in (0,1)$,$ p \geq 2$,$ N \geq 2$, $(-Δ)^{s}_{p}$ is the fractional $p$-Laplace operator, the nonlinearity f is $p$-superlinear at infinity and the potential V(x) is allowed to be sign-changing.
In this article, we study the following fractional-Laplacian system with singular nonlinearity \begin{equation*} (P_{λ,μ}) \left\{ \begin{array}{lr} (-Δ)^s u = λf(x) u^{-q}+ \fracα{α+β}b(x) u^{α-1} w^β\; \text{in}\;Ω\\ (-Δ)^s w = μg(x) w^{-q}+ \fracβ{α+β} b(x) u^α w^{β-1}\; \text{in}\;Ω\\ \quad \quad u, w>0\;\text{in}\;Ω, \quad u = w = 0 \; \mbox{in}\; \mathbb{R}^n \setminusΩ, \end{array} \quad \right. \end{equation*} where $Ω$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^n$ with smooth boundary $\partial Ω$, $n>2s$, $s\in(0,1)$, $0<q<1$, $α>1$, $β>1$ satisfy $2<α+β< 2_{s}^*-1$ with $2_{s}^*=\frac{2n}{n…
Results on existence and multiplicity of solutions for a nonlinear elliptic problem driven by the $Φ$-Laplace operator are established. We employ minimization arguments on suitable Nehari manifolds to build a negative and a positive ground state solutions. In order to find a nodal solution we employ additionally the well known Deformation Lemma and Topological Degree Theory.
In this paper, we study the existence of multiple solutions to a generalized $p(\cdot)$-Laplace equation with two parameters involving critical growth. More precisely, we give sufficient "local" conditions, which mean that growths between the main operator and nonlinear term are locally assumed for the cases $p(\cdot)$-sublinear, $p(\cdot)$-superlinear, and sandwich-type. Compared to constant exponent problems (for examples, $p$-Laplacian and $(p,q)$-Laplacian), this characterizes the study of variable exponent problems. We show this by applying variants of the Mountain Pass Theorem for $p(\cd…
We consider the Dirichlet problem for the nonhomogeneous equation $-Δ_p u -Δ_q u = α|u|^{p-2}u + β|u|^{q-2}u + f(x)$ in a bounded domain, where $p \neq q$, and $α, β\in \mathbb{R}$ are parameters. We explore assumptions on $α$ and $β$ that guarantee the resolvability of the considered problem. Moreover, we introduce several curves on the $(α,β)$-plane allocating sets of parameters for which the problem has or does not have positive or sign-changing solutions, provided $f$ is of a constant sign.
In this paper we study solutions, possibly unbounded and sign-changing, of the following problem: -\D_λ u=|x|_λ^a |u|^{p-1}u, in R^n,\;n\geq 1,\; p>1, and a \geq 0, where \D_λ is a strongly degenerate elliptic operator, the functions λ=(λ_1, ..., λ_k) : R^n \rightarrow R^k, satisfies some certain conditions, and |.|_λ the homogeneous norm associated to the \D_λ-Laplacian. We prove various Liouville-type theorems for smooth solutions under the assumption that they are stable or stable outside a compact set of R^n. First, we establish the standard integralestimates via stability property to deri…
In this paper, we apply blow-up analysis and Liouville type theorems to study pointwise a priori estimates for some quasilinear equations with p-Laplace operator. We first obtain pointwise interior estimates for the gradient of p-harmonic function, i.e., the solution of $Δ_{p}u=0,\ x\inΩ$, which extends the well-established results of the interior estimates of the gradient of harmonic function. We then get singularity and decay estimates of the sign changing solution of Lane-Emden-Fowler type p-Laplace equation $-Δ_{p}u=|u|^{λ-1}u, \ x\inΩ$, which are then generalized for the equation with gen…
We consider a non-local Shrödinger problem driven by the fractional Orlicz g-Laplace operator as follows \begin{equation}\label{PP} (-\triangle_{g})^αu+g(u)=K(x)f(x,u),\ \ \text{in}\ \mathbb{R}^{d},\tag{P} \end{equation} where $d\geq 3,\ (-\triangle_{g})^α$ is the fractional Orlicz g-Laplace operator, $f:\mathbb{R}^d\times\mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a measurable function and $K$ is a positive continuous function. Employing the Nehari manifold method and without assuming the well-known Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz and differentiability conditions on the non-linear term $f$, we prove that the …
We establish the existence of multiple sign-changing solutions to the quasilinear critical problem $$-Δ_{p} u=|u|^{p^*-2}u, \qquad u\in D^{1,p}(\mathbb{R}^{N}),$$ for $N\geq4$, where $Δ_{p}u:=\mathrm{div}(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)$ is the $p$-Laplace operator, $1<p<N$ and $p^*:=\frac{Np}{N-p}$ is the critical Sobolev exponent
A Dirichlet problem driven by the $(p,q)$-Laplace operator and an asymmetric concave reaction with positive parameter is investigated. Four nontrivial smooth solutions (two positive, one negative, and the remaining nodal) are obtained once the parameter turns out to be sufficiently small. Under a oddness condition near the origin for the perturbation, a whole sequence of sign-changing solutions, which converges to zero, is produced.
We consider a double phase problem driven by the sum of the $p$-Laplace operator and a weighted $q$-Laplacian ($q<p$), with a weight function which is not bounded away from zero. The reaction term is $(p-1)$-superlinear. Employing the Nehari method, we show that the equation has a ground state solution of constant sign and a nodal (sign-changing) solution.
We study the existence, multiplicity, and certain qualitative properties of solutions to the zero Dirichlet problem for the equation $-Δ_p u = λ|u|^{p-2}u + a(x)|u|^{q-2}u$ in a bounded domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^N$, where $1<q<p$, $λ\in\mathbb{R}$, and $a$ is a continuous sign-changing weight function. Our primary interest concerns ground states and nonnegative solutions which are positive in $\{x\in Ω: a(x)>0\}$, when the parameter $λ$ lies in a neighborhood of the critical value $λ^* = \inf\left\{\int_Ω|\nabla u|^p \, dx/\int_Ω|u|^p \, dx: u\in W_0^{1,p}(Ω) \setminus \{0\},\ \int_Ωa|u|^q\,…
In this paper we study entire radial solutions for the quasilinear $p$-Laplace equation $Δ_p u + k(x) f(u) = 0$ where $k$ is a radial positive weight and the nonlinearity behaves e.g. as $f(u)=u|u|^{q-2}-u|u|^{Q-2}$ with $q<Q$. In particular we focus our attention on solutions (positive and sign changing) which are infinitesimal at infinity, thus providing an extension of a previous result by Tang (2001).
We consider quasilinear parabolic equations with measurable coefficients when the right-hand side is a signed Radon measure with finite total mass, having $p$-Laplace type: $$u_t - \textrm{div} \, \mathbf{a}(Du,x,t) = μ\quad \textrm{in} \ Ω\times (0,T) \subset \mathbb{R}^n \times \mathbb{R}.$$ In the singular range $\frac{2n}{n+1} <p \le 2-\frac{1}{n+1}$, we establish regularity estimates for the spatial gradient of solutions in the Marcinkiewicz spaces, under a suitable density condition of the right-hand side measure.
A semi-global isometric embedding of abstract surfaces with Gaussian curvature changing signs of any finite order is obtained through solving the Darboux equation.
We obtain existence and multiplicity results for quasilinear fourth order elliptic equations on $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ with sign-changing potential. Our results generalize some recent results on this problem.
The present paper studies the non-local fractional analogue of the famous paper of Brezis and Nirenberg in [4]. Namely, we focus on the following model, $$\begin{align*}\left(\mathcal{P}\right) \begin{cases} \left(-Δ\right)^s u-λu &= α|u|^{p-2}u + β|u|^{2^*-2}u \quad\mbox{in}\quad Ω,\\ u&=0\quad\mbox{in}\quad\mathbb{R}^N\setminusΩ, \end{cases} \end{align*}$$ where $(-Δ)^s$ is the fractional Laplace operator, $s \in (0,1)$, with $N \geq 3s$, $2<p<2^*$, $β>0, λ, α\in \mathbb{R}$ and establish the existence of nontrivial solutions and sign-changing solutions for the problem $(\mathcal{P})$.
In this paper we consider a class of fractional Schrödinger equations with potentials vanishing at infinity. By using a minimization argument and a quantitative deformation Lemma, we prove the existence of a sign-changing solution.
We study the Yamabe equation in the Euclidean half-space. We prove that any sign-changing solution has at least twice the energy of a standard bubble. Moreover, a sharper energy lower bound of the sign-changing solution set is also established via the method of moving planes. This bound increases the energy range for which Palais-Smale sequences of related variational problem has a non-trivial weak limit.
For the $p$-Laplace Dirichlet problem (where $φ(t)=t|t|^{p-2}$, $p>1$) \[ φ(u'(x))'+ f(u(x))=0 \;\;\;\; \mbox{for $-1<x<1$}, \;\; u(-1)=u(1)=0 \] assume that $f'(u)>(p-1)\frac{f(u)}{u}>0$ for $u>γ>0$, while $\int_u^γf(t) \, dt < 0$ for all $u \in (0,γ)$. Then any positive solution, with $\max_{(-1,1)} u(x)=u(0)>γ$, is non-singular, no matter how many times $f(u)$ changes sign on $(0,γ)$. Uniqueness of solution follows.
In this paper we study the existence of a least energy sign-changing solution to a nonlocal elliptic PDE involving singularity by using the Nehari manifold method, the constraint variational method and Brouwer degree theory.
In this article we discuss the maximum principle for the linear equation and the sign changing solutions of the semilinear equation with the Higgs potential. Numerical simulations indicate that the bubbles for the semilinear Klein-Gordon equation in the de Sitter spacetime are created and apparently exist for all times.
