Linear codes are considered over the ring $\mathbb{Z}_4+v\mathbb{Z}_4$, where $v^2=v$. Gray weight, Gray maps for linear codes are defined and MacWilliams identity for the Gray weight enumerator is given. Self-dual codes, construction of Euclidean isodual codes, unimodular complex lattices, MDS codes and MGDS codes over $\mathbb{Z}_4+v\mathbb{Z}_4$ are studied. Cyclic codes and quadratic residue codes are also considered. Finally, some examples for illustrating the main work are given.
Let $R=\mathbb{F}_2+u\mathbb{F}_2+u^2\mathbb{F}_2$ be a non-chain finite commutative ring, where $u^3=u$. In this paper, we mainly study the construction of quantum codes from cyclic codes over $R$. We obtained self-orthogonal codes over $\mathbb{F}_2$ as gray images of linear and cyclic codes over $R$. The parameters of quantum codes which are obtained from cyclic code over $R$ are discussed.
In this article, we investigate properties of cyclic codes over a finite non-chain ring $\mathbb{F}_q+v\mathbb{F}_q+v^2\mathbb{F}_q+v^3\mathbb{F}_q+v^4\mathbb{F}_q,$ where $q=p^r,$ $r$ is a positive integer, $p$ is an odd prime, $4 \mid (p-1),$ and $v^5=v.$ As an application, we construct several quantum error correcting codes over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_q.$
We construct an infinite family of two-Lee-weight and three-Lee-weight codes over the non-chain ring $\mathbb{F}_p+u\mathbb{F}_p+v\mathbb{F}_p+uv\mathbb{F}_p,$ where $u^2=0,v^2=0,uv=vu.$ These codes are defined as trace codes. They have the algebraic structure of abelian codes. Their Lee weight distribution is computed by using Gauss sums. With a linear Gray map, we obtain a class of abelian three-weight codes and two-weight codes over $\mathbb{F}_p$. In particular, the two-weight codes we describe are shown to be optimal by application of the Griesmer bound. We also discuss their dual Lee dis…
In this paper, we study a relative two-weight $\mathbb{Z}_2 \mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes. It is shown that the Gray image of a two-distance $\mathbb{Z}_2 \mathbb{Z}_4$-additive code is a binary two-distance code and that the Gray image of a relative two-weight $\mathbb{Z}_2 \mathbb{Z}_4$-additive code, with nontrivial binary part, is a linear binary relative two-weight code. The structure of relative two-weight $\mathbb{Z}_2 \mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes are described. Finally, we discussed permutation automorphism group of a $\mathbb{Z}_2 \mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes.
Linear complementary dual (LCD) codes over finite fields are linear codes satisfying $C\cap C^{\perp}=\{0\}$. We generalize the LCD codes over finite fields to $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_2[u]$-LCD codes over the ring $\mathbf{Z}_2\times(\mathbf{Z}_2+u\mathbf{Z}_2)$. Under suitable conditions, $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_2[u]$-linear codes that are $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_2[u]$-LCD codes are characterized. We then prove that the binary image of a $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_2[u]$-LCD code is a binary LCD code. Finally, by means of these conditions, we construct new binary LCD codes using $\mathbb{Z}_2\mat…
The $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-additive codes are subgroups of $\mathbb{Z}_2^{α_1} \times \mathbb{Z}_4^{α_2} \times \mathbb{Z}_8^{α_3}$, and can be seen as linear codes over $\mathbb{Z}_2$ when $α_2=α_3=0$, $\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive or $\mathbb{Z}_8$-additive codes when $α_1=α_3=0$ or $α_1=α_2=0$, respectively, or $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes when $α_3=0$. A $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-linear Hadamard code is a Hadamard code which is the Gray map image of a $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4\mathbb{Z}_8$-additive code. In this paper, we generalize some known results fo…
We introduce a Gray map from $\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}+u\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}$ to $\mathbb{F}_{2}^{2m}$ and study $(1+u)$-constacyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}+u\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}},$ where $u^{2}=0.$ It is proved that the image of a $(1+u)$-constacyclic code length $n$ over $\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}+u\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}$ under the Gray map is a distance-invariant quasi-cyclic code of index $m$ and length $2mn$ over $\mathbb{F}_{2}.$ We also prove that every code of length $2mn$ which is the Gray image of cyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}+u\mathbb{F}_{2^{m}}$ of length $n$ is permutation equivalent to…
We investigate linear codes over the ring $\mathbb{Z}_4 + u\mathbb{Z}_4 + v\mathbb{Z}_4 + w\mathbb{Z}_4 + uv\mathbb{Z}_4 + uw\mathbb{Z}_4 + vw\mathbb{Z}_4 + uvw\mathbb{Z}_4$, with conditions $u^2=u$, $v^2=v$, $w^2=w$, $uv=vu$, $uw=wu$ and $vw=wv.$ We first analyze the structure of the ring and then define linear codes over this ring. Lee weight and Gray map for these codes are defined and MacWilliams relations for complete, symmetrized, and Lee weight enumerators are obtained. The Singleton bound as well as maximum distance separable codes are also considered. Furthermore, cyclic and quasi-cyc…
In this paper, we study skew constacyclic codes over the ring $\mathbb{Z}_{q}R$ where $R=\mathbb{Z}_{q}+u\mathbb{Z}_{q}$, $q=p^{s}$ for a prime $p$ and $u^{2}=0$. We give the definition of these codes as subsets of the ring $\mathbb{Z}_{q}^αR^β$. Some structural properties of the skew polynomial ring $ R[x,θ]$ are discussed, where $ θ$ is an automorphism of $R$. We describe the generator polynomials of skew constacyclic codes over $ R $ and $\mathbb{Z}_{q}R$. Using Gray images of skew constacyclic codes over $\mathbb{Z}_{q}R$ we obtained some new linear codes over $\mathbb{Z}_4$. Further, we h…
In this paper, we study self-dual codes over $\mathbb{Z}_2 \times (\mathbb{Z}_2+u\mathbb{Z}_2) $, where $u^2=0$. Three types of self-dual codes are defined. For each type, the possible values $α,β$ such that there exists a code $\mathcal{C}\subseteq \mathbb{Z}_{2}^α\times (\mathbb{Z}_2+u\mathbb{Z}_2)^β$ are established. We also present several approaches to construct self-dual codes over $\mathbb{Z}_2 \times (\mathbb{Z}_2+u\mathbb{Z}_2) $. Moreover, the structure of two-weight self-dual codes is completely obtained for $α\cdotβ\neq 0$.
In this paper, we mainly study the theory of linear codes over the ring $R =\mathbb{Z}_4+u\mathbb{Z}_4+v\mathbb{Z}_4+uv\mathbb{Z}_4$. By the Chinese Remainder Theorem, we have $R$ is isomorphic to the direct sum of four rings $\mathbb{Z}_4$. We define a Gray map $Φ$ from $R^{n}$ to $\mathbb{Z}_4^{4n}$, which is a distance preserving map. The Gray image of a cyclic code over $R^{n}$ is a linear code over $\mathbb{Z}_4$. Furthermore, we study the MacWilliams identities of linear codes over $R$ and give the the generator polynomials of cyclic codes over $R$. Finally, we discuss some properties of…
Let $\mathbb{F}_p$ be a finite field and $u$ be an indeterminate. This article studies $(1-2u^2)$-constacyclic codes over the ring $\mathbb{F}_p+u\mathbb{F}_p+u^2\mathbb{F}_p$, where $u^3=u$. We describe generator polynomials of this kind of codes and investigate the structural properties of these codes by a decomposition theorem.
Self-dual codes over finite fields and over some finite rings have been of interest and extensively studied due to their nice algebraic structures and wide applications. Recently, characterization and enumeration of Euclidean self-dual linear codes over the ring~$\mathbb{F}_{q}+u\mathbb{F}_{q}+u^2\mathbb{F}_{q}$ with $u^3=0$ have been established. In this paper, Hermitian self-dual linear codes over $\mathbb{F}_{q}+u\mathbb{F}_{q}+u^2\mathbb{F}_{q}$ are studied for all square prime powers~$q$. Complete characterization and enumeration of such codes are given. Subsequently, algebraic characteri…
We construct codes over the ring $\mathbb{F}_2+u\mathbb{F}_2$ with $u^2=0$. These code are designed for use in DNA computing applications. The codes obtained satisfy the reverse complement constraint, the $GC$ content constraint and avoid the secondary structure. they are derived from the cyclic complement reversible codes over the ring $\mathbb{F}_2+u\mathbb{F}_2$. We also construct an infinite family of BCH DNA codes.
We apply quantum Construction X on quasi-cyclic codes with large Hermitian hulls over $\mathbb{F}_4$ and $\mathbb{F}_9$ to derive good qubit and qutrit stabilizer codes, respectively. In several occasions we obtain quantum codes with stricly improved parameters than the current record. In numerous other occasions we obtain quantum codes with best-known performance. For the qutrit ones we supply a systematic construction to fill some gaps in the literature.
The aim of this paper is to give conditions for the equivalency between skew constacyclic codes, skew cyclic codes and skew negacyclic codes defined over semi-local rings. Also, we provide construction and an enumeration of Euclidean and Hermitian skew LCD cyclic codes over $ \mathbb{F}_{p^{t}}+ v \mathbb{F}_{p^{t}} $. Several optimal LCD codes are obtained from Gray images of LCD skew codes over semi-local rings.
In this article, we construct new non-binary quantum codes from skew constacyclic codes over finite commutative non-chain ring $\mathcal{R}= \mathbb{F}_{p^m}[v]/\langle v^3 =v \rangle$ where $p$ is an odd prime and $m \geq 1$. In order to obtain such quantum codes, first we study the structural properties of skew constacyclic codes and their Euclidean duals over the ring $\mathcal{R}$. Then a necessary and sufficient condition for skew constacyclic codes over $\mathcal{R}$ to contain their Euclidean duals is established. Finally, with the help of CSS construction and using Gray map, many new n…
Let $\mathbb{F}_p$ be a finite field and $u$ be an indeterminate. This article studies $(1-2u^k)$-constacyclic codes over the ring $\mathcal{R}=\mathbb{F}_p+u\mathbb{F}_p+u^2\mathbb{F}_p+u^{3}\mathbb{F}_{p}+\cdots+u^{k}\mathbb{F}_{p}$ where $u^{k+1}=u$. We illustrate the generator polynomials and investigate the structural properties of these codes via decomposition theorem.
A code $C$ is called $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-linear if it is the Gray image of a $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive code. For any prime number $p$ larger than $3$, the bounds of the rank of $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-linear codes are given. For each value of the rank and the pairs of rank and the dimension of the kernel of $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-linear codes, we give detailed construction of the corresponding codes. Finally, as an example, the rank and the dimension of the kernel of $\mathbb{Z}_5\mathbb{Z}_{25}$-linear codes are studied.
The $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}\dots\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-additive codes are subgroups of $\mathbb{Z}_p^{α_1} \times \mathbb{Z}_{p^2}^{α_2} \times \cdots \times \mathbb{Z}_{p^s}^{α_s}$, and can be seen as linear codes over $\mathbb{Z}_p$ when $α_i=0$ for all $i \in \{2,\dots, s\}$, a $\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-additive code when $α_i=0$ for all $i \in \{1,\dots, s-1\}$ , or a $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive code when $s=2$, or $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes when $p=2$ and $s=2$. A $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}\dots\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-linear generalized Hadamard (GH) code is a GH code ov…
$(1+pw)$-constacyclic codes of arbitrary length over the non-principal ideal ring $\mathbb{Z}_{p^s} +u\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$ are studied, where $p$ is a prime, $w\in \mathbb{Z}_{p^s}^{\times}$ and $s$ an integer satisfying $s\geq 2$. First, the structure of any $(1+pw)$-constacyclic code over $\mathbb{Z}_{p^s} +u\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$ are presented. Then enumerations for the number of all codes and the number of codewords in each code, and the structure of dual codes for these codes are given, respectively. Then self-dual $(1+2w)$-constacyclic codes over $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s} +u\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$ are investi…
In this article, we study skew cyclic codes over ring $R=\mathbb{F}_{q}+v\mathbb{F}_{q}+v^{2}\mathbb{F}_{q}$, where $q=p^{m}$, $p$ is an odd prime and $v^{3}=v$. We describe generator polynomials of skew cyclic codes over this ring and investigate the structural properties of skew cyclic codes over $R$ by a decomposition theorem. We also describe the generator polynomials of the duals of skew cyclic codes. Moreover, the idempotent generators of skew cyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{q}$ and $R$ are considered.
We give the structure of $λ$-constacyclic codes of length $p^sm$ over $R=\mathbb{F}_{p^r}+u \mathbb{F}_{p^r}+...+ u^{e-1}\mathbb{F}_{p^r}$ with $λ\in \F_{p^r}^*$. We also give the structure of $λ$-constacyclic codes of length $p^sm$ with $λ=α_1+uα_2+...+u^{e-1} α_{e-1}$, where $α_1,α_2 \neq 0$ and study the self-duality of these codes.
In the present paper we study the structure of cyclic DNA codes of even lenght over the ring $\mathbb{F}_2+u\mathbb{F}_2+u^2\mathbb{F}_2$ where $u^3=0$. We investigate two presentations of cyclic codes of even lenght over $\mathbb{F}_2+u\mathbb{F}_2+u^2\mathbb{F}_2$ satisfying the reverse constraint and reverse-complement constraint.
Generalized quasi-cyclic (GQC) codes with arbitrary lengths over the ring $\mathbb{F}_{q}+u\mathbb{F}_{q}$, where $u^2=0$, $q=p^n$, $n$ a positive integer and $p$ a prime number, are investigated. By the Chinese Remainder Theorem, structural properties and the decomposition of GQC codes are given. For 1-generator GQC codes, minimal generating sets and lower bounds on the minimum distance are given. As a special class of GQC codes, quasi-cyclic (QC) codes over $\mathbb{F}_q+u\mathbb{F}_q$ are also discussed briefly in this paper.
In this paper, we study $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_p[u]$-additive codes, where $p$ is prime and $u^{2}=0$. In particular, we determine a Gray map from $ \mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_p[u]$ to $\mathbb{Z}_p^{ α+2 β}$ and study generator and parity check matrices for these codes. We prove that a Gray map $Φ$ is a distance preserving map from ($\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_p[u]$,Gray distance) to ($\mathbb{Z}_p^{α+2β}$,Hamming distance), it is a weight preserving map as well. Furthermore we study the structure of $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_p[u]$-additive cyclic codes.
In this paper, we investigate cyclic code over the ring $\mathbb{F}_{p^k} + v\mathbb{F}_{p^k} + v^2\mathbb{F}_{p^k} + ... + v^r\mathbb{F}_{p^k}$, where $v^{r+1}=v$, $p$ a prime number, $r>1$ and $\gcd(r,p)=1$, we prove as generalisation of P. Solé et al. in 2015 that these codes are principally generated, give generator polynomial and idempotent depending on idempotents over this ring as response to an open problem related by J. QIAN et al. in 2005. we also give a gray map and proprieties of the related dual code.
In this paper, we study the $σ$-self-orthogonality of constacyclic codes of length $p^s$ over the finite commutative chain ring $\mathbb F_{p^m} + u \mathbb F_{p^m}$, where $u^2=0$ and $σ$ is a ring automorphism of $\mathbb F_{p^m} + u \mathbb F_{p^m}$. First, we obtain the structure of $σ$-dual code of a $λ$-constacyclic code of length $p^s$ over $\mathbb F_{p^m} + u \mathbb F_{p^m}$. Then, the necessary and sufficient conditions for a $λ$-constacyclic code to be $σ$-self-orthogonal are provided. In particular, we determine the $σ$-self-dual constacyclic codes of length $p^s$ over $\mathbb F_…
Let $q$ be a power of a prime $p$. In this paper, we study reversible cyclic codes of arbitrary length over the ring $ R = \mathbb{F}_q + u \mathbb{F}_q$, where $u^2=0 mod q$. First, we find a unique set of generators for cyclic codes over $R$, followed by a classification of reversible cyclic codes with respect to their generators. Also, under certain conditions, it is shown that dual of reversible cyclic code is reversible over $\mathbb{Z}_2+u\mathbb{Z}_2$. Further, to show the importance of these results, some examples of reversible cyclic codes are provided.
In this paper, we have studied cyclic codes over the ring $R=\mathbb{Z}_4+u\mathbb{Z}_4$, $u^2=0$. We have considered cyclic codes of odd lengths. A sufficient condition for a cyclic code over $R$ to be a $\mathbb{Z}_4$-free module is presented. We have provided the general form of the generators of a cyclic code over $R$ and determined a formula for the ranks of such codes. In this paper we have mainly focused on principally generated cyclic codes of odd length over $R$. We have determined a necessary condition and a sufficient condition for cyclic codes of odd lengths over $R$ to be $R$-free…
Let $\mathbb{F}_{p^m}$ be a finite field of cardinality $p^m$ and $R=\mathbb{F}_{p^m}[u]/\langle u^2\rangle=\mathbb{F}_{p^m}+u\mathbb{F}_{p^m}$ $(u^2=0)$, where $p$ is a prime and $m$ is a positive integer. For any $λ\in \mathbb{F}_{p^m}^{\times}$, an explicit representation for all distinct $λ$-constacyclic codes over $R$ of length $p^sn$ is given by a canonical form decomposition for each code, where $s$ and $n$ are positive integers satisfying ${\rm gcd}(p,n)=1$. For any such code, using its canonical form decomposition the representation for the dual code of the code is provided. Moreover,…
A ${\mathbb{Z}}_2{\mathbb{Z}}_4$-additive code ${\cal C}\subseteq{\mathbb{Z}}_2^α\times{\mathbb{Z}}_4^β$ is called cyclic if the set of coordinates can be partitioned into two subsets, the set of ${\mathbb{Z}}_2$ and the set of ${\mathbb{Z}}_4$ coordinates, such that any simultaneous cyclic shift of the coordinates of both subsets leaves invariant the code. These codes can be identified as submodules of the $\mathbb{Z}_4[x]$-module $\mathbb{Z}_2[x]/(x^α-1)\times\mathbb{Z}_4[x]/(x^β-1)$. Any $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive cyclic code ${\cal C}$ is of the form $\langle (b(x)\mid{ 0}), (\ell…
We construct a class of $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive cyclic codes generated by pairs of polynomials, study their algebraic structures, and obtain the generator matrix of any code in the class. Using a probabilistic method, we prove that, for any positive real number $δ<1/3$ such that the entropy at $3δ/2$ is less than $1/2$, the probability that the relative minimal distance of a random code in the class is greater than $δ$ is almost $1$; and the probability that the rate of the random code equals to $1/3$ is also almost $1$. As an obvious consequence, the $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-add…
In this paper, we give conditions for the existence of Hermitian self-dual $Θ-$cyclic and $Θ-$negacyclic codes over the finite chain ring $\mathbb{F}_q+u\mathbb{F}_q$. By defining a Gray map from $R=\mathbb{F}_q+u\mathbb{F}_q$ to $\mathbb{F}_{q}^{2}$, we prove that the Gray images of skew cyclic codes of odd length $n$ over $R$ with even characteristic are equivalent to skew quasi-twisted codes of length $2n$ over $\mathbb{F}_q$ of index $2$. We also extend an algorithm of Boucher and Ulmer \cite{BF3} to construct self-dual skew cyclic codes based on the least common left multiples of non-comm…
In this paper, we construct an infinite family of five-weight codes from trace codes over the ring $R=\mathbb{F}_2+u\mathbb{F}_2$, where $u^2=0.$ The trace codes have the algebraic structure of abelian codes. Their Lee weight is computed by using character sums. Combined with Pless power moments and Newton's Identities, the weight distribution of the Gray image of trace codes was present. Their support structure is determined. An application to secret sharing schemes is given.
In this paper we study the structure and properties of additive right and left polycyclic codes induced by a binary vector $a$ in $\mathbb{F}_{2}^{n}.$ We find the generator polynomials and the cardinality of these codes. We also study different duals for these codes. In particular, we show that if $C$ is a right polycyclic code induced by a vector $a\in \mathbb{F}_{2}^{n}$, then the Hermitian dual of $C$ is a sequential code induced by $a.$ As an application of these codes, we present examples of additive right polycyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{4}$ with more codewords than comparable optimal…
The $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-additive codes are subgroups of $\mathbb{Z}^n_{2^s}$, and can be seen as a generalization of linear codes over $\mathbb{Z}_2$ and $\mathbb{Z}_4$. A $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard code is a binary Hadamard code which is the Gray map image of a $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-additive code. It is known that the dimension of the kernel can be used to give a complete classification of the $\mathbb{Z}_4$-linear Hadamard codes. In this paper, the kernel of $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard codes and its dimension are established for $s > 2$. Moreover, we prove that this invariant only…
Let $p$ be a prime number, $q=p^s$ for a positive integer $s$. For any positive divisor $e$ of $q-1$, we construct an infinite family codes of size $q^{2m}$ with few Lee-weight. These codes are defined as trace codes over the ring $R=\mathbb{F}_q + u\mathbb{F}_q$, $u^2 = 0$. Using Gauss sums, their Lee weight distributions are provided. When $\gcd(e,m)=1$, we obtain an infinite family of two-weight codes over the finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$ which meet the Griesmer bound. Moreover, when $\gcd(e,m)=2, 3$ or $4$ we construct new infinite family codes with at most five-weight.
In this paper, we introduce a additive Tridiagonal and Double-Tridiagonal codes over $\mathbb{F}_4$ and then we study the properties of the code. Also, we find the number of additive Tridiagonal codes over $\mathbb{F}_4.$ Finally, we study the applications of Double-Tridiagonal codes to secret sharing scheme based on matrix projection.
This paper gives lower and upper bounds on the covering radius of codes over $\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$ with respect to Lee distance. We also determine the covering radius of various Repetition codes over $\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}.$
In this paper, we study the linear codes over the commutative ring $R=\F_{q}+v\F_{q}+v^{2}\F_{q}$ and their Gray images, where $v^{3}=v$. We define the Lee weight of the elements of $R$, we give a Gray map from $R^{n}$ to $\F^{3n}_{q}$ and we give the relation between the dual and the Gray image of a code. This allows us to investigate the structure and properties of self-dual cyclic, formally self-dual and the Gray image of formally self-dual codes over $R$. Further, we give several constructions of formally self-dual codes over $R
In this paper, we study the codes over the matrix ring over $\mathbb{Z}_4$, which is perhaps the first time the ring structure $M_2(\mathbb{Z}_4)$ is considered as a code alphabet. This ring is isomorphic to $\mathbb{Z}_4[w]+U\mathbb{Z}_4[w]$, where $w$ is a root of the irreducible polynomial $x^2+x+1 \in \mathbb{Z}_2[x]$ and $U\equiv$ ${11}\choose{11}$. We first discuss the structure of the ring $M_2(\mathbb{Z}_4)$ and then focus on algebraic structure of cyclic codes and self-dual cyclic codes over $M_2(\mathbb{Z}_4)$. We obtain the generators of the cyclic codes and their dual codes. Few ex…
In this article we mainly study linear codes over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ and their binary subfield codes. We construct linear codes over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ whose defining sets are the certain subsets of $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}^m$ obtained from mathematical objects called simplicial complexes. We use a result in LFSR sequences to illustrate the relation of the weights of codewords in two special codes obtained from simplical complexes and then determin the parameters of these codes. We construct fiveinfinite families of distance optimal codes and give sufficient conditions for these codes to be minimal.
Let $\mathbb{F}_{p^m}$ be a finite field of cardinality $p^m$ and $R=\mathbb{F}_{p^m}[u]/\langle u^2\rangle=\mathbb{F}_{p^m}+u\mathbb{F}_{p^m}$ $(u^2=0)$, where $p$ is an odd prime and $m$ is a positive integer. For any $α,β\in \mathbb{F}_{p^m}^{\times}$, the aim of this paper is to represent all distinct $(α+uβ)$-constacyclic codes over $R$ of length $p^sn$ and their dual codes, where $s$ is a nonnegative integer and $n$ is a positive integer satisfying ${\rm gcd}(p,n)=1$. Especially, all distinct $(2+u)$-constacyclic codes of length $6\cdot 5^t$ over $\mathbb{F}_{3}+u\mathbb{F}_3$ and their …
Double circulant codes of length $2n$ over the semilocal ring $R = \mathbb{F}_q + u\mathbb{F}_q,\, u^2=u,$ are studied when $q$ is an odd prime power, and $-1$ is a square in $\mathbb{F}_q.$ Double negacirculant codes of length $2n$ are studied over $R$ when $n$ is even and $q$ is an odd prime power. Exact enumeration of self-dual and LCD such codes for given length $2n$ is given. Employing a duality-preserving Gray map, self-dual and LCD codes of length $4n$ over $\mathbb{F}_q$ are constructed. Using random coding and the Artin conjecture, the relative distance of these codes is bounded below…
We construct an infinite family of two-Lee-weight and three-Lee-weight codes over the chain ring $\mathbb{F}_p+u\mathbb{F}_p.$ They have the algebraic structure of abelian codes. Their Lee weight distribution is computed by using Gauss sums. Then by using a linear Gray map, we obtain an infinite family of abelian codes with few weights over $\mathbb{F}_p$. In particular, we obtain an infinite family of two-weight codes which meets the Griesmer bound with equality. Finally, an application to secret sharing schemes is given.
Let $R=\mathbb{Z}_q+u\mathbb{Z}_q$, where $q=p^s$ and $u^2=0$. In this paper, some structural properties of cyclic codes over the ring $R$ are considered. A necessary and sufficient condition for cyclic codes over the ring $R$ to be free is obtained and a BCH-type bound on the minimum Hamming distance for them is also given.
Let $\mathbb{F}_{2^m}$ be a finite field of $2^m$ elements, and $R=\mathbb{F}_{2^m}[u]/\langle u^k\rangle=\mathbb{F}_{2^m}+u\mathbb{F}_{2^m}+\ldots+u^{k-1}\mathbb{F}_{2^m}$ ($u^k=0$) where $k$ is an integer satisfying $k\geq 2$. For any odd positive integer $n$, an explicit representation for every self-dual cyclic code over $R$ of length $2n$ and a mass formula to count the number of these codes are given first. Then a generator matrix is provided for the self-dual and $2$-quasi-cyclic code of length $4n$ over $\mathbb{F}_{2^m}$ derived by every self-dual cyclic code of length $2n$ over $\mat…
In this article, we introduce and study the concept of the exponent of a cyclic code over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q.$ We give a relation between the exponent of a cyclic code and its dual code. Finally, we introduce and determine the exponent distribution of the cyclic code.
In this paper, we present a novel design strategy of DNA codes with length $3n$ over the non-chain ring $R=\mathbb{Z}_4+u\mathbb{Z}_4+u^2\mathbb{Z}_4$ with $64$ elements and $u^3=1$, where $n$ denotes the length of a code over $R$. We first study and analyze a distance conserving map defined over the ring $R$ into the length-$3$ DNA sequences. Then, we derive some conditions on the generator matrix of a linear code over $R$, which leads to a DNA code with reversible, reversible-complement, homopolymer $2$-run-length, and $\frac{w}{3n}$-GC-content constraints for integer $w$ ($0\leq w\leq 3n$).…
We use symplectic self-dual additive codes over $\mathbb{F}_4$ obtained from metacirculant graphs to construct, for the first time, $[[\ell, 0, d ]]$ qubit codes with parameters $(\ell,d) \in \{(78, 20), (90, 21), (91, 22), (93,21),(96,21)\}$. Secondary constructions applied to the qubit codes result in many qubit codes that perform better than the previous best-known.
In this paper, we study skew cyclic codes with arbitrary length over the ring $R=\mathbb{F}_{p}+u\mathbb{F}_{p}$ where $p$ is an odd prime and $% u^{2}=0$. We characterize all skew cyclic codes of length $n$ as left $% R[x;θ]$-submodules of $R_{n}=R[x;θ]/\langle x^{n}-1\rangle $. We find all generator polynomials for these codes and describe their minimal spanning sets. Moreover, an encoding and decoding algorithm is presented for skew cyclic codes over the ring $R$. Finally, based on the theory we developed in this paper, we provide examples of codes with good parameters over $F_{p}$ with dif…
Let $R=\mathbb{Z}_{4}[u]/\langle u^k\rangle=\mathbb{Z}_{4}+u\mathbb{Z}_{4}+\ldots+u^{k-1}\mathbb{Z}_{4}$ ($u^k=0$) where $k\in \mathbb{Z}^{+}$ satisfies $k\geq 2$. For any odd positive integer $n$, it is known that cyclic codes over $R$ of length $n$ are identified with ideals of the ring $R[x]/\langle x^{n}-1\rangle$. In this paper, an explicit representation for each cyclic code over $R$ of length $n$ is provided and a formula to count the number of codewords in each code is given. Then a formula to calculate the number of cyclic codes over $R$ of length $n$ is obtained. Precisely, the dual …
