We consider random dynamical systems generated by a special class of Volterra quadratic stochastic operators on the simplex $S^{m-1}$. We prove that in contrast to the deterministic set-up the trajectories of the random dynamical system almost surely converge to one of the vertices of the simplex $S^{m-1}$ implying the survival of only one species. We also show that the minimal random point attractor of the system equals the set of all vertices. The convergence proof relies on a martingale-type limit theorem which we prove in the appendix.
We introduce a notion of $\ell$-Volterra quadratic stochastic operator defined on $(m-1)$-dimensional simplex, where $\ell\in\{0,1,...,m\}$. The $\ell$-Volterra operator is a Volterra operator iff $\ell=m$. We study structure of the set of all $\ell$-Volterra operators and describe their several fixed and periodic points. For $m=2$ and 3 we describe behavior of trajectories of $(m-1)$-Volterra operators. The paper also contains many remarks with comparisons of $\ell$-Volterra operators and Volterra ones.
In this paper we showed an equivalence of notions of regularity, transitivity and Ergodic principle for quadratic stochastic Volterra operators acting on the finite dimensional simplex.
In the paper a Volterra quadratic stochastic operators of three dimensional simplex into itself is considered. The full description of ergodic properties such operators is given.
We solve the analytic integrability problem for diferential systems in the plane whose origin is an isolated singularity and the first homogeneous component is a quadratic Lotka-Volterra type. As an application, we give the analytically integrable systems of a class of systems $\dot{x}= x(P1+P2)$; $\dot{y}= y(Q1+Q2)$; being Pi,Qi homogeneous polynomials of degree i.
A quadratic stochastic operator (in short QSO) is usually used to present the time evolution of differing species in biology. Some quadratic stochastic operators have been studied by Lotka and Volterra. In the present paper, we first give a simple characterization of Volterra QSO in terms of absolutely continuity of discrete measures. Moreover, we provide its generalization in continuous setting. Further, we introduce a notion of orthogonal preserving QSO, and describe such kind of operators defined on two dimensional simplex. It turns out that orthogonal preserving QSOs are permutations of Vo…
We consider a four-parameter family of non-Volterra operators defined on the two-dimensional simplex and show that, with one exception, each such operator has a unique fixed point. Depending on the parameters, we establish the type of this fixed point. We study the set of limit points for each trajectory and show that this set can be a single point or can contain a 2-periodic trajectory.

We revisit the bifurcation theory of the Lotka-Volterra quadratic system \begin{eqnarray} X_0 :\left\{\begin{aligned} \dot{x}=& - y -x^2+y^2 ,\\ \dot{y}= &\;\;\;\;x - 2xy \end{aligned} \right. \end{eqnarray} with respect to arbitrary quadratic deformations. The system $X_0$ has a double center, which is moreover isochronous. We show that the deformed system $X_0$ can have at most two limit cycles on the finite plane, with possible distribution $(i,j)$, where $i+j\leq2$. Our approach is based on the study of pairs of bifurcation functions associated to the centers, expressed in terms of iterate…
We consider a four-parametric $(a, b, α, β)$ family of Volterra quadratic stochastic operators for a bisexual population (i.e., each organism of the population must belong either to the female sex or the male sex). We show that independently on parameters each such operator has at least two fixed points. Moreover, under some conditions on parameters the operator has infinitely many (continuum) fixed points. Choosing parameters, numerically we show that a fixed point may be any type: attracting, repelling, saddle and non-hyperbolic. We separate five subfamilies of quadratic operators and show t…
We consider $\ell$-Volterra quadratic stochastic operators defined on $(m-1)$-dimensional simplex, where $\ell\in\{0,1,...,m\}$. Under some conditions on coefficients of such operators we describe Lyapunov functions and apply them to obtain upper estimates for the set of $ω$- limit points of trajectories. We describe a set of fixed points of $\ell$-Volterra operators.
In this paper we describe a wide class of non-Volterra quadratic stochastic operators using N. Ganikhadjaev's construction of quadratic stochastic operators. By the construction these operators depend on a probability measure $μ$ being defined on the set of all configurations which are given on a graph $G.$ We show that if $μ$ is the product of probability measures being defined on each maximal connected subgraphs of $G$ then corresponding non-Volterra operator can be reduced to $m$ number (where $m$ is the number of maximal connected subgraphs of $G$) of Volterra operators defined on the maxi…
In the present paper we introduce a notion of homotopy of two Volterra operators which is related to fixed points of such operators. It is establish a criterion when two Volterra operators are homotopic, as a consequence we obtain that the corresponding tournaments of that operators are the same. This, due to \cite{Ga1}, gives us a possibility to know some information about the trajectory of homotopic Volterra operators. Moreover, it is shown that any Volterra q.s.o. given on a face has at least two homotopic extension to the whole simplex.
We consider a discrete-time dynamical system generated by a nonlinear operator (with four real parameters $a,b,c,d$) of ocean ecosystem. We find conditions on the parameters under which the operator is reduced to a $\ell$-Volterra quadratic stochastic operator mapping two-dimensional simplex to itself. We show that if $cd(c+d)=0$ then (under some conditions on $a,b$) this $\ell$-Volterra operator may have up to three or a countable set of fixed points; if $cd(c+d)\ne 0$ then the operator has up to three fixed points. Depending on the parameters the fixed points may be attracting, repelling or …
In this work, we give a new proof of the classification of the Lotka-Volterra and Reversible foliations, originally given by Gautier. This new proof, involves an unified technique for both cases, using the theory of foliations. In addition, we obtain a linear family of elliptical foliations with a non-invariant tangency set.
On the set of genotypes $Φ=\{1,...,m\}$ we introduce a binary relation generated by Volterra quadratic stochastic operator $V$ on $(m-1)$ dimensional simplex $S^{m-1}$ and prove that the operator $V$ be non-ergodic if either there exists a Hamiltonian cycle or one of the vertices $M_i=(δ_{1i},δ_{2i},...,δ_{mi})$ of the simplex $S^{m-1}$ is a source and restriction of $V$ to the invariant face $F_i=\{x\in S^{m-1}: x_i=0\}$ is non-ergodic. In this paper we prove this result for $m=2,3,4.$
A quadratic stochastic operator (in short QSO) is usually used to present the time evolution of differing species in biology. Some quadratic stochastic operators have been studied by Lotka and Volterra. The general problem in the nonlinear operator theory is to study the behavior of operators. This problem was not fully finished even for quadratic stochastic operators which are the simplest nonlinear operators. To study this problem, it was investigated several classes of QSO. In this paper, we study $ξ^{(s)}$--QSO defined on 2D simplex. We first classify $ξ^{(s)}$--QSO into 20 non-conjugate c…
We consider in C^n the class of symmetric homogeneous quadratic dynamical systems. We introduce the notion of algebraic integrability for this class. We present a class of symmetric quadratic dynamical systems that are algebraically integrable by the set of functions h_1(t), ..., h_n(t) where h_1(t) is any solution of an ordinary differential equation of order n and h_k(t) are differential polynomials in h_1(t), k = 2, ..., n. We describe a method of constructing this ordinary differential equation. We give a classification of symmetric quadratic dynamical systems and describe the maximal subg…
Motivated by the work of Busse et al. [6] on turbulent convection in a rotating layer, we exploit the long-run behavior for stochastic Lotka-Volterra (LV) systems both in pull-back trajectory and in stationary measure. It is proved stochastic decomposition formula describing the relation between solutions of stochastic and deterministic LV systems and stochastic Logistic equation. By virtue of this formula, it is verified that every pull-back omega limit set is an omega limit set for deterministic LV systems multiplied by the random equilibrium of the stochastic Logistic equation. This formula…
We consider two dimensional Lotka-Volterra systems in fluctuating environment. Relying on recent results on stochastic persistence and piecewise deterministic Markov processes, we show that random switching between two environments both favorable to the same species can lead to the extinction of this species or coexistence of the species.
Motivating by the China's five element philosophy (CFEP) we construct a permuted Volterra quadratic stochastic operator acting on the four dimensional simplex. This operator (depending on 10 parameters) is considered as an evolution operator for CFEP. We study the discrete time dynamical system generated by this operator. Mainly our results related to a symmetric operator (depending on one parameter). We show that this operator has a unique fixed point, which is repeller. Moreover, in the case of non-zero parameter, it has two 5-periodic orbits. We divide the simplex to four subsets: the first…
In this paper, we initiate the study of a discrete-time dynamical system modelling a trophic network connecting the three types of plankton (phytoplankton, zooplankton, mixoplankton) and bacteria. The nonlinear operator V associated with this dynamical system is of type 4-Volterra quadratic stochastic operator (QSO) with twelve parameters. We give conditions on the parameters under which this operator maps the five-dimensional standard simplex to itself and we find its fixed points. Moreover, we study the limit points of trajectories for this operator. For each situations we give some biologic…
In this paper we study the long term dynamics of two prey species and one predator species. In the deterministic setting, if we assume the interactions are of Lotka-Volterra type (competition or predation), the long term behavior of this system is well known. However, nature is usually not deterministic. All ecosystems experience some type of random environmental fluctuations. We incorporate these into a natural framework as follows. Suppose the environment has two possible states. In each of the two environmental states the dynamics is governed by a system of Lotka-Volterra ODE. The randomnes…
The qualitative properties of local random invariant manifolds for stochastic partial differential equations with quadratic nonlinearities and multiplicative noise is studied by a cut off technique. By a detail estimates on the Perron fixed point equation describing the local random invariant manifold, the structure near a bifurcation is given.
