This note studies a family of Navier-Stokes-Allen-Cahn systems parameterized by temperature. Derived from an internal energy that corresponds to one incompressible and one compressible phase, this family is considered as a simple model for water. Decreasing temperature across a critical value, a transition takes places from a situation without towards one with planar diffuse phase boundaries.
We derive the incompressible Euler equations with heat convection with the no-penetration boundary condition from the Boltzmann equation with the diffuse boundary in the hydrodynamic limit for the scale of large Reynold number. Inspired by the recent framework in [30], we consider the Navier-Stokes-Fourier system with no-slip boundary conditions as an intermediary approximation and develop a Hilbert-type expansion of the Boltzmann equation around the global Maxwellian that allows the nontrivial heat transfer by convection in the limit. To justify our expansion and the limit, a new direct estim…

In this paper we derive a class of thermodynamically consistent diffuse-interface mixture models of incompressible multicomponent fluids. The class of mixture models is fully compatible with the continuum theory of mixtures. The resulting mixture models may be formulated either in constituent or in mixture quantities. This permits a direct comparison with the Navier-Stokes Cahn-Hilliard model with non-matching densities, which reveals the key modeling simplifications of the latter.

We are concerned with the sharp interface limit for an incompressible Navier-Stokes and Allen-Cahn coupled system in this paper. When the thickness of the diffuse interfacial zone, which is parameterized by $\varepsilon$, goes to zero, we prove that a solution of the incompressible Navier-Stokes and Allen-Cahn coupled system converges to a solution of a sharp interface model in the $L^\infty(L^2)\cap L^2(H^1)$ sense on a uniform time interval independent of the small parameter $\varepsilon$. The proof consists of two parts: one is the construction of a suitable approximate solution and another…
This paper concerns the instability and stability of the trivial steady states of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with Navier-slip boundary conditions in a slab domain in dimension two. The main results show that the stability (or instability) of this constant equilibrium depends crucially on whether the boundaries dissipate energy and the strengthen of the viscosity and slip length. It is shown that in the case that when all the boundaries are dissipative, then nonlinear asymptotic stability holds true, otherwise, there is a sharp critical viscosity, which distinguishes the nonline…
A phase-field model for two-phase immiscible, incompressible porous media flow with surface tension effects is considered. The pore-scale model consists of a strongly coupled system of Stokes-Cahn-Hilliard equations. The fluids are separated by an evolving diffuse interface of a finite width depending on the scale parameter $\varepsilon$ in the considered model. At first the well-posedness of a coupled system of partial differential equations at micro scale is investigated. We obtained the homogenized equations for the microscopic model via unfolding operator and two-scale convergence approach…
We show well-posedness of a diffuse interface model for a two-phase flow of two viscous incompressible fluids with different densities locally in time. The model leads to an inhomogeneous Navier-Stokes/Cahn-Hilliard system with a solenoidal velocity field for the mixture, but a variable density of the fluid mixture in the Navier-Stokes type equation. We prove existence of strong solutions locally in time with the aid of a suitable linearization and a contraction mapping argument. To this end we show maximal $L^2$-regularity for the Stokes part of the linearized system and use maximal $L^p$-reg…
We prove convergence of suitable subsequences of weak solutions of a diffuse interface model for the two-phase flow of incompressible fluids with different densities with a nonlocal Cahn-Hilliard equation to weak solutions of the corresponding system with a standard "local" Cahn-Hilliard equation. The analysis is done in the case of a sufficiently smooth bounded domain with no-slip boundary condition for the velocity and Neumann boundary conditions for the Cahn-Hilliard equation. The proof is based on the corresponding result in the case of a single Cahn-Hilliard equation and compactness argum…
In this article we prove the global existence of weak solutions for a diffuse interface model in a bounded domain (both in 2D and 3D) involving incompressible magnetic fluids with unmatched densities. The model couples the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, gradient flow of the magnetization vector and the Cahn-Hilliard dynamics describing the partial mixing of two fluids. The density of the mixture depends on an order parameter and the modelling, specifically the density dependence, is inspired from Abels, Garcke and Grün 2011.
We introduce two 2D mechanical models reproducing the evolution of two viscous tissues in contact. Their main property is to model the swirling cell motions while keeping the tissues segregated, as observed during vertebrate embryo elongation. Segregation is encoded differently in the two models: by passive or active segregation (based on a mechanical repulsion pressure). We compute the incompressible limits of the two models, and obtain strictly segregated solutions. The two models thus obtained are compared. A striking feature in the active segregation model is the persistence of the repulsi…
In this work, we study the so-called Allen-Cahn-Navier-Stokes equations, a diffuse-interface model for two-phase incompressible flows with different densities. We first prove the local-in-time existence and uniqueness of classical solutions with finite initial energy over the smooth bounded domain $Ω$. The key point is to transform the boundary values of the higher order spatial derivatives to that of the higher order time derivatives by employing the well-known Agmon-Douglis-Nireberg theory in [6]. We then prove global existence near the equilibrium $(0, \pm 1)$ and justify the time exponetia…
For the free boundary problem of the plasma-vacuum interface to ideal incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) in two-dimensional space, the a priori estimates of solutions are proved in Sobolev norms by adopting a geometrical point of view. In the vacuum region, the magnetic field is described by the div-curl system of pre-Maxwell dynamics, while at the interface the total pressure is continuous and the magnetic field is tangent to the boundary. We prove that the $L^2$ norms of any order covariant derivatives of the magnetic field in vacuum and on the boundaries are bounded in terms of initi…
This paper is devoted to the global well-posedness of two Diffuse Interface systems modeling the motion of an incompressible two-phase fluid mixture in presence of capillarity effects in a bounded smooth domain $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^d$, $d=2,3$. We focus on dissipative mixing effects originating from the mass-conserving Allen-Cahn dynamics with the physically relevant Flory-Huggins potential. More precisely, we study the mass-conserving Navier-Stokes-Allen-Cahn system for nonhomogeneous fluids and the mass-conserving Euler-Allen-Cahn system for homogeneous fluids. We prove existence and uniquen…
Regularity Criteria for Navier-Stokes Equations with Slip Boundary Conditions on Non-flat Boundaries via Two Velocity Components
H.- O. Bae和H.
We study an initial-boundary value problem for the incompressible Navier-Stokes-Cahn-Hilliard system with non-constant density proposed by Abels, Garcke and Grün in 2012. This model arises in the diffuse interface theory for binary mixtures of viscous incompressible fluids. This system is a generalization of the well-known model H in the case of fluids with unmatched densities. In three dimensions, we prove that any global weak solution (for which uniqueness is not known) exhibits a propagation of regularity in time and stabilizes towards an equilibrium state as $t \rightarrow \infty$. More pr…
Well-posedness for the two dimensional Euler system with given initial vorticity is known since the works of Judovič. In this paper we show existence of solutions in the case where we allowed the fluid to enter in and exit from the boundaries and from some points of the fluid domain. In particular we derive the equations of the model as the limit when we replace the points by some small holes. To do that we extend the DiPerna-Lions theory with non-tangent velocity field on the boundary to the case of time-dependent domain, we extend the existence result for the two dimensional Euler system wit…
