A superintegrable finite model of the quantum isotropic oscillator in two dimensions is introduced. It is defined on a uniform lattice of triangular shape. The constants of the motion for the model form an SU(2) symmetry algebra. It is found that the dynamical difference eigenvalue equation can be written in terms of creation and annihilation operators. The wavefunctions of the Hamiltonian are expressed in terms of two known families of bivariate Krawtchouk polynomials; those of Rahman and those of Tratnik. These polynomials form bases for SU(2) irreducible representations. It is further shown that the pair of eigenvalue equations for each of these families are related to each other by an SU(2) automorphism. A finite model of the anisotropic oscillator that has wavefunctions expressed in terms of the same Rahman polynomials is also introduced. In the continuum limit, when the number of grid points goes to infinity, standard two-dimensional harmonic oscillators are obtained. The analysis provides the $N\rightarrow \infty$ limit of the bivariate Krawtchouk polynomials as a product of one-variable Hermite polynomials.
The two-dimensional extension of the one-dimensional PDM-Lagrangians and their nonlocal point transformation mappings into constant unit-mass exactly solvable Lagrangians is introduced. The conditions on the related two-dimensional Euler-Lagrange equations' invariance are reported. The mappings from superintegrable linear oscillators into sub-superintegrable nonlinear PDM-oscillators are exemplified by, (i) a sub-superintegrable Mathews-Lakshmanan type-I PDM-oscillator, for a PDM-particle moving in a harmonic oscillator potential, (ii) a sub-superintegrable Mathews-Lakshmanan type-II PDM-oscil…
We introduce a new 2N--parametric family of maximally superintegrable systems in N dimensions, obtained as a reduction of an anisotropic harmonic oscillator in a 2N--dimensional configuration space. These systems possess closed bounded orbits and integrals of motion which are polynomial in the momenta. They generalize known examples of superintegrable models in the Euclidean plane.
Generalizations of oscillator and Coulomb models are discussed via introduction of holomorphic coordinates. Complex Euclidean analogue of the Smorodinsky-Winternitz system is introduced and studied. Complex projective analogue of Rosochatius model is also discussed. Supersymmetric extensions of these models are considered.
A simple discrete model of the two dimensional isotropic harmonic oscillator is presented. It is superintegrable with su(2) as its symmetry algebra. It is constructed with the help of the algebraic properties of the bivariate Charlier polyno-mials. This adds to the other discrete superintegrable models of the oscillator based on Krawtchouk and Meixner orthogonal polynomials in several variables.
We generalise the construction of integrals of motion for quantum superintegrable models and the deformed oscillator algebra approach. This is presented in the context of 1D systems admitting ladder operators satisfying a parabosonic algebra involving reflection operators and more generally $c_λ$ extended oscillator algebras with grading. We apply the construction on two-dimensional $c_λ$ oscillators. We also introduce two new superintegrable Hamiltonians that are the anisotropic Dunkl and the singular Dunkl oscillators. We construct the integrals and using this extended approach of the Daskal…
A superintegrable, discrete model of the quantum isotropic oscillator in two-dimensions is introduced. The system is defined on the regular, infinite-dimensional $\mathbb{N}\times \mathbb{N}$ lattice. It is governed by a Hamiltonian expressed as a seven-point difference operator involving three parameters. The exact solutions of the model are given in terms of the two-variable Meixner polynomials orthogonal with respect to the negative trinomial distribution. The constants of motion of the system are constructed using the raising and lowering operators for these polynomials. They are shown to …
We propose a unified description for the constants of motion for superintegrable deformations of the oscillator and Coulomb systems on N-dimensional Euclidean space, sphere and hyperboloid. We also consider the duality between these generalized systems and present some example.
The Stäckel transform is applied to the geodesic motion on Euclidean space, through the harmonic oscillator and Kepler-Coloumb potentials, in order to obtain maximally superintegrable classical systems on N-dimensional Riemannian spaces of nonconstant curvature. By one hand, the harmonic oscillator potential leads to two families of superintegrable systems which are interpreted as an intrinsic Kepler-Coloumb system on a hyperbolic curved space and as the so-called Darboux III oscillator. On the other, the Kepler-Coloumb potential gives rise to an oscillator system on a spherical curved space a…
We extend the construction of 2D superintegrable Hamiltonians with separation of variables in spherical coordinates using combinations of shift, ladder, and supercharge operators to models involving rational extensions of the two-parameter Lissajous systems on the sphere. These new families of superintegrable systems with integrals of arbitrary order are connected with Jacobi exceptional orthogonal polynomials (EOP) of type I (or II) and supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSYQM). Moreover, we present an algebraic derivation of the degenerate energy spectrum for the one- and two-parameter Lissa…
The superintegrability of two-dimensional Hamiltonians with a position dependent mass (pdm) is studied (the kinetic term contains a factor $m$ that depends of the radial coordinate). First, the properties of Killing vectors are studied and the associated Noether momenta are obtained. Then the existence of several families of superintegrable Hamiltonians is proved and the quadratic integrals of motion are explicitly obtained. These families include, as particular cases, some systems previously obtained making use of different approaches. We also relate the superintegrability of some of these pd…
The maximal superintegrability of the intrinsic harmonic oscillator potential on N-dimensional spaces with constant curvature is revisited from the point of view of sl(2)-Poisson coalgebra symmetry. It is shown how this algebraic approach leads to a straightforward definition of a new large family of quasi-maximally superintegrable perturbations of the intrinsic oscillator on such spaces. Moreover, the generalization of this construction to those N-dimensional spaces with non-constant curvature that are endowed with sl(2)-coalgebra symmetry is presented. As the first examples of the latter cla…
We introduce a new family of $N$-dimensional quantum superintegrable model consisting of double singular oscillators of type $(n,N-n)$. The special cases $(2,2)$ and $(4,4)$ were previously identified as the duals of 3- and 5-dimensional deformed Kepler-Coulomb systems with $u(1)$ and $su(2)$ monopoles respectively. The models are multiseparable and their wave functions are obtained in $(n,N-n)$ double-hyperspherical coordinates. We obtain the integrals of motion and construct the finitely generated polynomial algebra that is the direct sum of a quadratic algebra $Q(3)$ involving three generat…
Harmonic oscillator and the Kepler problem are superintegrable systems which admit more integrals of motion than degrees of freedom and all these integrals are polynomials in momenta. We present superintegrable deformations of the oscillator and the Kepler problem with algebraic and rational first integrals. Also, we discuss a family of superintegrable metrics on the two-dimensional sphere, which have similar first integrals.
The symmetry structure of twodimensional nonlinear isotropic oscillator, introduced in Physica D237 (2008) 505, is discussed. It is shown that it possesses three independent integrals of motion which can be chosen in such a way that they span SU(2), E(2) or SU(1,1) algebras, depending on the value of total energy. They generate the infinitesimal canonical symmetry transformations; integrability of the latter is analyzed. The results are then generalized to the case of arbitrary number of degrees of freedom.
We construct complete sets of invariant quantities that are integrals of motion for two Hamiltonian systems obtained through a reduction procedure, thus proving that these systems are maximally superintegrable. We also discuss the reduction method used in this article and its possible generalization to other maximally superintegrable systems.
In this paper, we investigate in detail a superintegrable extension of the singular harmonic oscillator whose wave functions can be expressed in terms of exceptional Jacobi polynomials. We show that this Hamiltonian admits a fourth-order integral of motion and use the classification of such systems to show that the potential gives a rational solution associated with the sixth Painlevé equation. Additionally, we show that the integrals of the motion close to form a cubic algebra and describe briefly deformed oscillator representations of this algebra.
We construct integrable and superintegrable Hamiltonian systems using the realizations of four dimensional real Lie algebras as a symmetry of the system with the phase space R4 and R6. Furthermore, we construct some integrable and superintegrable Hamiltonian systems for which the symmetry Lie group is also the phase space of the system.
An overview of maximally superintegrable classical Hamitonians on spherically symmetric spaces is presented. It turns out that each of these systems can be considered either as an oscillator or as a Kepler-Coulomb Hamiltonian. We show that two possible quantization prescriptions for all these curved systems arise if we impose that superintegrability is preserved after quantization, and we prove that both possibilities are gauge equivalent.
We consider the classical superintegrable Hamiltonian system given by $H=T+U={p^2}/{2(1+λq^2)}+{ω^2 q^2}/{2(1+λq^2)}$, where U is known to be the "intrinsic" oscillator potential on the Darboux spaces of nonconstant curvature determined by the kinetic energy term T and parametrized by λ. We show that H is Stackel equivalent to the free Euclidean motion, a fact that directly provides a curved Fradkin tensor of constants of motion for H. Furthermore, we analyze in terms of λ the three different underlying manifolds whose geodesic motion is provided by T. As a consequence, we find that H comprise…
A quantum superintegrable model with reflections on the 2-sphere is introduced. Its two algebraically independent constants of motion generate a central extension of the Bannai--Ito algebra. The Schrodinger equation separates in spherical coordinates and its exact solutions are presented. It is further observed that the Hamiltonian of the system arises in the addition of three representations of the sl_{-1}(2) algebra (the dynamical algebra of the one-dimensional parabosonic oscillator). The contraction from the two-sphere to the Euclidean plane yields the Dunkl oscillator in two dimensions an…
We introduce the most general quartic Poisson algebra generated by a second and a fourth order integral of motion of a 2D superintegrable classical system. We obtain the corresponding quartic (associative) algebra for the quantum analog and we extend Daskaloyannis' construction in obtained in context of quadratic algebras and we obtain the realizations as deformed oscillator algebras for this quartic algebra. We obtain the Casimir operator and discuss how these realizations allow to obtain the finite dimensional unitary irreductible representations of quartic algebras and obtain algebraically …
A new integrable generalization to the 2D sphere $S^2$ and to the hyperbolic space $H^2$ of the 2D Euclidean anisotropic oscillator Hamiltonian with Rosochatius (centrifugal) terms is presented, and its curved integral of the motion is shown to be quadratic in the momenta. In order to construct such a new integrable Hamiltonian $H_κ$, we will make use of a group theoretical approach in which the curvature $κ$ of the underlying space will be treated as an additional (contraction) parameter, and we will make extensive use of projective coordinates and their associated phase spaces. It turns out …

Classical and quantum superintegrable systems have a long history and they possess more integrals of motion than degrees of freedom. They have many attractive properties, wide applications in modern physics and connection to many domains in pure and applied mathematics. We overview two new families of superintegrable Kepler-Coulomb systems with non-central terms and superintegrable Hamiltonians with double singular oscillators of type $(n,N-n)$ in $N$-dimensional Euclidean space. We present their quadratic and polynomial algebras involving Casimir operators of $so(N+1)$ Lie algebras that exhib…
The factorization technique for superintegrable Hamiltonian systems is revisited and applied in order to obtain additional (higher-order) constants of the motion. In particular, the factorization approach to the classical anisotropic oscillator on the Euclidean plane is reviewed, and new classical (super)integrable anisotropic oscillators on the sphere are constructed. The Tremblay-Turbiner-Winternitz system on the Euclidean plane is also studied from this viewpoint.
In this work the notion of Hamiltonian chain is presented as applied to anisotropic oscillator potentials especially defined on three and four dimensional Euclidean spaces. A Hamiltonian chain is a sequence of superintegrable Hamiltonians which, in addition, constitute integrals of motion of a new superintegrable system. Along with the Poisson algebras the quantum counterparts of the chain is given as well as the eigenvalues of each member of the chain. The method can be extended to cover n dimensional cases.
We make significant progress toward the classification of 2nd order superintegrable systems on 3-dimensional conformally flat space that have functionally linearly dependent (FLD) symmetry generators, with special emphasis on complex Euclidean space. The symmetries for these systems are linearly dependent only when the coefficients are allowed to depend on the spatial coordinates. The Calogero-Moser system with 3 bodies on a line and 2-parameter rational potential is the best known example of an FLD superintegrable system. We work out the structure theory for these FLD systems on 3D conformall…
The quantum Kepler-Coulomb system in 3 dimensions is well known to be 2nd order superintegrable, with a symmetry algebra that closes polynomially under commutators. This polynomial closure is also typical for 2nd order superintegrable systems in 2D and for 2nd order systems in 3D with nondegenerate (4-parameter) potentials. However the degenerate 3-parameter potential for the 3D Kepler-Coulomb system (also 2nd order superintegrable) is an exception, as its symmetry algebra doesn't close polynomially. The 3D 4-parameter potential for the extended Kepler-Coulomb system is not even 2nd order supe…
A known general class of superintegrable systems on 2D spaces of constant curvature can be defined by potentials separating in (geodesic) polar coordinates. The radial parts of these potentials correspond either to an isotropic harmonic oscillator or a generalised Kepler potential. The angular components, on the contrary, are given implicitly by a transcendental, in general, equation. In the present note, devoted to the previously less studied models with the radial potential of the generalised Kepler type, a new two-parameter family of relevant angular potentials is constructed in terms of el…
We analyse the $n$-dimensional superintegrable Kepler-Coulomb system with non-central terms. We find a novel underlying chain structure of quadratic algebras formed by the integrals of motion. We identify the elements for each sub-structure and obtain the algebra relations satisfied by them and the corresponding Casimir operators. These quadratic sub-algebras are realized in terms of a chain of deformed oscillators with factorized structure functions. We construct the finite-dimensional unitary representations of the deformed oscillators, and give an algebraic derivation of the energy spectrum…
In this paper, we present the quadratic associative symmetry algebra of the 3D nondegenerate maximally quantum superintegrable system. This is the complete symmetry algebra of the system. It is demonstrated that the symmetry algebra contains suitable quadratic subalgebras, each of which is generated by three generators with relevant structure constants, which may depend on central elements. We construct corresponding Casimir operators and present finite-dimensional unirreps and structure functions via the realizations of these subalgebras in the context of deformed oscillators. By imposing con…
Superintegrable systems are a class of physical systems which possess more conserved quantities than their degrees of freedom. The study of these systems has a long history and continues to attract significant international attention. This thesis investigates finite dimensional quantum superintegrable systems with scalar potentials as well as vector potentials with monopole type interactions. We introduce new families of $N$-dimensional superintegrable Kepler-Coulomb systems with non-central terms and double singular harmonic oscillators in the Euclidean space, and new families of superintegra…
The notion of hidden symmetry algebra used in the context of exactly solvable systems is re-examined from the purely algebraic way, analyzing subspaces of commuting polynomials that generate finite-dimensional quadratic algebras. By construction, these algebras do not depend on the choice of realizations by vector fields of the underlying Lie algebra, allowing to propose a procedure to analyze polynomial algebras as those subspaces in an enveloping algebra that commute with a given algebraic Hamiltonian.
A generalized version of Bertrand's theorem on spherically symmetric curved spaces is presented. This result is based on the classification of (3+1)-dimensional (Lorentzian) Bertrand spacetimes, that gives rise to two families of Hamiltonian systems defined on certain 3-dimensional (Riemannian) spaces. These two systems are shown to be either the Kepler or the oscillator potentials on the corresponding Bertrand spaces, and both of them are maximally superintegrable. Afterwards, the relationship between such Bertrand Hamiltonians and position-dependent mass systems is explicitly established. Th…
A method for deriving superintegrable Hamiltonians with a spin orbital interaction is presented. The method is applied to obtain a new superintegrable system in Euclidean space $\mathbb{E}_3$ with the following properties. It describes a rotationally invariant interaction between a particle of spin $\frac{1}{2}$ and one of spin 0. Its Hamiltonian commutes with total angular momentum $\vec{\mathcal{J}}$ and with additional vector integrals of motion $\vec{X}$, $\vec{Y}$ with components that are third order differential operators. The integrals of motion form a polynomial algebra under commutati…
The loop algebra $L(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})$ symmetry is found in a sector of the nilpotent Bazhanov-Stroganov model. The Drinfeld polynomial of a $L(\mathfrak{sl}_{2})$-degenerate eigenspace of the model is equivalent to the polynomial which characterizes a subspace with the Ising-like spectrum of the superintegrable chiral Potts model.
It is known that the fairly (most?) general class of 2D superintegrable systems defined on 2D spaces of constant curvature and separating in (geodesic) polar coordinates is specified by two types of radial potentials (oscillator or (generalized) Kepler ones) and by corresponding families of angular potentials. Unlike the radial potentials the angular ones are given implicitly (up to a function) by, in general, transcendental equation. In the present paper new two-parameter families of angular potentials are constructed in terms of elementary functions. It is shown that for an appropriate choic…
Quadratic algebras are generalizations of Lie algebras; they include the symmetry algebras of 2nd order superintegrable systems in 2 dimensions as special cases. The superintegrable systems are exactly solvable physical systems in classical and quantum mechanics. For constant curvature spaces we show that the free quadratic algebras generated by the 1st and 2nd order elements in the enveloping algebras of their Euclidean and orthogonal symmetry algebras correspond one-to-one with the possible superintegrable systems with potential defined on these spaces. We describe a contraction theory for q…
The explicit solvability of quantum superintegrable systems is due to symmetry, but the symmetry is often "hidden". The symmetry generators of 2nd order superintegrable systems in 2 dimensions close under commutation to define quadratic algebras, a generalization of Lie algebras. Distinct systems on constant curvature spaces are related by geometric limits, induced by generalized Inönü-Wigner Lie algebra contractions of the symmetry algebras of the underlying spaces. These have physical/geometric implications, such as the Askey scheme for hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials. However, the lim…
The integrals of motion of the classical two dimensional superintegrable systems with quadratic integrals of motion close in a restrained quadratic Poisson algebra, whose the general form is investigated. Each classical superintegrable problem has a quantum counterpart, a quantum superintegrable system. The quadratic Poisson algebra is deformed to a quantum associative algebra, the finite dimensional representations of this algebra are calculated by using a deformed parafermion oscillator technique. It is shown that, the finite dimensional representations of the quadratic algebra are determine…
The N-dimensional generalization of Bertrand spaces as families of Maximally superintegrable systems on spaces with nonconstant curvature is analyzed. Considering the classification of two dimensional radial systems admitting 3 constants of the motion at most quadratic in the momenta, we will be able to generate a new class of spherically symmetric M.S. systems by using a technique based on coalgebra. The 3-dimensional realization of these systems provides the entire classification of classical spherically symmetric M.S. systems admitting periodic trajectories. We show that in dimension N > 2 …
Four new families of two-dimensional quantum superintegrable systems are constructed from k-step extension of the harmonic oscillator and the radial oscillator. Their wavefunctions are related with Hermite and Laguerre exceptional orthogonal polynomials (EOP) of type III. We show that ladder operators obtained from alternative construction based on combinations of supercharges in the Krein-Adler and Darboux Crum ( or state deleting and creating ) approaches can be used to generate a set of integrals of motion and a corresponding polynomial algebra that provides an algebraic derivation of the f…

It has been known since 2007 that the Wilson and Racah polynomials can be characterized as basis functions for irreducible representations of the quadratic symmetry algebra of the quantum superintegrable system on the 2-sphere, $HΨ=EΨ$, with generic 3-parameter potential. Clearly, the polynomials are expansion coefficients for one eigenbasis of a symmetry operator $L_1$ of $H$ in terms of an eigenbasis of another symmetry operator $L_2$, but the exact relationship appears not to have been made explicit. We work out the details of the expansion to show, explicitly, how the polynomials arise and…
We present an algebraic study of a kind of quantum systems belonging to a family of superintegrable Hamiltonian systems in terms of shape-invariant intertwinig operators, that span pairs of Lie algebras like $(su(n),so(2n))$ or $(su(p,q),so(2p,2q))$. The eigenstates of the associated Hamiltonian hierarchies belong to unitary representations of these algebras. It is shown that these intertwining operators, related with separable coordinates for the system, are very useful to determine eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonians in the hierarchy. An study of the corresponding superintegra…
Superintegrable systems of 2nd order in 3 dimensions with exactly 3-parameter potentials are intriguing objects. Next to the nondegenerate 4-parameter potential systems they admit the maximum number of symmetry operators but their symmetry algebras don't close under commutation and not enough is known about their structure to give a complete classification. Some examples are known for which the 3-parameter system can be extended to a 4th order superintegrable system with a 4-parameter potential and 6 linearly independent symmetry generators. In this paper we use Bôcher contractions of the conf…
We examine the Onsager algebra symmetry of $τ^{(j)}$-matrices in the superintegrable chiral Potts model. The comparison of Onsager algebra symmetry of the chiral Potts model with the $sl_2$-loop algebra symmetry of six-vertex model at roots of unity is made from the aspect of functional relations using the $Q$-operator and fusion matrices. The discussion of Bethe ansatz for both models is conducted in a uniform manner through the evaluation parameters of their symmetry algebras.
We introduce a new superintegrable Kepler-Coulomb system with non-central terms in $N$-dimensional Euclidean space. We show this system is multiseparable and allows separation of variables in hyperspherical and hyperparabolic coordinates. We present the wave function in terms of special functions. We give a algebraic derivation of spectrum of the superintegrable system. We show how the $so(N+1)$ symmetry algebra of the $N$-dimensional Kepler-Coulomb system is deformed to a quadratic algebra with only 3 generators and structure constants involving a Casimir operator of $so(N-1)$ Lie algebra. We…
In previous work, we have considered Hamiltonians associated with 3 dimensional conformally flat spaces, possessing 2, 3 and 4 dimensional isometry algebras. Previously our Hamiltonians have represented free motion, but here we consider the problem of adding potential functions in the presence of symmetry. Separable potentials in the 3 dimensional space reduce to 3 or 4 parameter potentials for Darboux-Koenigs Hamiltonians. Other 3D coordinate systems reveal connections between Darboux-Koenigs and other well known super-integrable Hamiltonians, such as the Kepler problem and isotropic oscillat…
The goal of the present paper is to provide a detailed study of irreducible representations of the algebra generated by the symmetries of the generic quantum superintegrable system on the $d$-sphere. Appropriately normalized, the symmetry operators preserve the space of polynomials. Under mild conditions on the free parameters, maximal abelian subalgebras of the symmetry algebra, generated by Jucys-Murphy elements, have unique common eigenfunctions consisting of families of Jacobi polynomials in $d$ variables. We describe the action of the symmetries on the basis of Jacobi polynomials in terms…
We introduce an extended Kepler-Coulomb quantum model in spherical coordinates. The Schrödinger equation of this Hamiltonian is solved in these coordinates and it is shown that the wave functions of the system can be expressed in terms of Laguerre, Legendre and exceptional Jacobi polynomials (of hypergeometric type). We construct ladder and shift operators based on the corresponding wave functions and obtain their recurrence formulas. These recurrence relations are used to construct higher-order, algebraically independent integrals of motion to prove superintegrability of the Hamiltonian. The …
Using a Poisson bracket representation, in 3D, of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$, we first use highest weight representations to embed this into larger Lie algebras. These are then interpreted as symmetry and conformal symmetry algebras of the "kinetic energy", related to the quadratic Casimir function. We then consider the potentials which can be added, whilst remaining integrable, leading to families of separable systems, depending upon arbitrary functions of a single variable. Adding further integrals, in the superintegrable case, restricts these functions to specific forms, depending u…
