We extend our previous study of the SU(3) gauge theory with N_f=2 flavors of fermions in the sextet representation of color. Our tool is the Schroedinger functional method. By changing the lattice action, we push the bulk transition of the lattice theory to stronger couplings and thus reveal the beta function and the mass anomalous dimension gamma_m over a wider range of coupling, out to g^2 ~ 11. Our results are consistent with an infrared fixed point, but walking is not ruled out. Our main result is that gamma_m never exceeds 0.45, making the model unsuitable for walking technicolor. We use a novel method of extrapolation to the large-volume/continuum limit, tailored to near-conformal theories.
The Hadron Spectrum Collaboration (HSC) presented new results on two of their ensembles for s-wave scattering phase shifts in the open-charm sector of QCD. For such ensembles we have made predictions that are based on the chiral Lagrangian that were published two years ago. In this talk we confront our phase shifts with those of HSC. A remarkably consistent picture emerges. In particular there is mounting evidence for the existence of a flavor-sextet state in the $D π$ and $D^*π$ channels, that show a striking quark-mass dependence.
We report preliminary results for the hadronic light-by-light scattering contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment. Several ensembles using 2+1 flavors of Möbius domain-wall fermions, generated by the RBC/UKQCD collaborations, are employed to take the continuum and infinite volume limits of finite volume lattice QED+QCD. We find $a_μ^{\rm HLbL} = (7.41\pm6.33)\times 10^{-10}$
We report the first result for the hadronic light-by-light scattering contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment with all errors systematically controlled. Several ensembles using 2+1 flavors of physical mass Möbius domain-wall fermions, generated by the RBC/UKQCD collaborations, are employed to take the continuum and infinite volume limits of finite volume lattice QED+QCD. We find $a_μ^{\rm HLbL} = 7.87(3.06)_\text{stat}(1.77)_\text{sys}\times 10^{-10}$. Our value is consistent with previous model results and leaves little room for this notoriously difficult hadronic contribution to e…

We report progress on calculating the contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon from the disconnected hadronic diagrams with light and strange quarks and the valence QED contribution to the connected diagrams. The lattice QCD calculations use the highly-improved staggered quark (HISQ) formulation. The gauge configurations were generated by the MILC Collaboration with four flavors of HISQ sea quarks with physical sea-quark masses.
A holographic model of chiral symmetry breaking is used to study the dynamics plus the meson and baryon spectrum of the underlying strong dynamics in composite Higgs models. The model is inspired by top-down D-brane constructions. We introduce this model by applying it to $N_f=2$ QCD. We compute meson masses, decay constants and the nucleon mass. The spectrum is improved by including higher dimensional operators to reflect the UV physics of QCD. Moving to composite Higgs models, we impose perturbative running for the anomalous dimension of the quark condensate in a variety of theories with var…
The mass anomalous dimension is determined in SU(2) gauge theory coupled to $N_f$ fermions in the adjoint representation for $N_f = 2$, $3/2$, $1$ and $1/2$, where half-integer flavor numbers correspond to Majorana fermions. The numerical method is based on gradient flow. The results show near-conformal behavior for $N_f = 2$, $3/2$ and $1$. Particular emphasis is placed on $N_f = 2$, which is relevant for a strongly interacting extension of the Standard Model and has been studied in several previous investigations. We check whether the method is able to resolve discrepancies in earlier result…
In this work we present the results of our investigation of \su{2} gauge theory with two Dirac fermions in the adjoint representation (aQCD2), which belongs to the class of strongly interacting gauge theories that are of basic interest for extensions of the Standard Model. We have done numerical lattice simulations of this theory at two different values of the gauge coupling and several fermion masses. Our results include the particle spectrum and the mass anomalous dimension. The spectrum contains new exotic fermion-gluon states and flavour-singlet mesons. The mass anomalous dimension is dete…
