In this paper we investigate the convergence rate of Euler-Maruyama scheme for a class of stochastic differential delay equations, where the corresponding coefficients may be highly nonlinear with respect to the delay variables. In particular, we reveal that the convergence rate of Euler-Maruyama scheme is 1/2$ for the Brownian motion case, while show that it is best to use the mean-square convergence for the pure jump case, and that the order of mean-square convergence is close to 1/2.
This paper is concerned with strong convergence of a tamed $θ$-Euler-Maruyama scheme for neutral stochastic differential delay equations with superlinearly growing coefficients. We not only prove the strong convergence of implicit schemes, but also reveal the convergence rate for these equations driven by Brownian motion and pure jumps, respectively.
This paper is concerned with strong convergence and almost sure convergence for neutral stochastic differential delay equations under non-globally Lipschitz continuous coefficients. Convergence rates of $θ$-EM schemes are given for these equations driven by Brownian motion and pure jumps respectively, where the drift terms satisfy locally one-sided Lipschitz conditions, and diffusion coefficients obey locally Lipschitz conditions, and the corresponding coefficients are highly nonlinear with respect to the delay terms.
In this paper, we are concerned with convergence rate of Euler-Maruyama (EM) scheme for stochastic differential delay equations (SDDEs) of neutral type, where the neutral term, the drift term and the diffusion term are allowed to be of polynomial growth. More precisely, for SDDEs of neutral type driven by Brownian motions, we reveal that the convergence rate of the corresponding EM scheme is one half; Whereas for SDDEs of neutral type driven by jump processes, we show that the best convergence rate of the associated EM scheme is close to one half.
Explicit Numerical Approximations for SDDEs in Finite and Infinite Horizons using the Adaptive EM Method: Strong Convergence and Almost Sure Exponential Stability
In this paper, employing the weak convergence method, based on a variational representation for expected values of positive functionals of a Brownian motion, we investigate moderate deviation %(CLT for abbreviation) for a class of stochastic differential delay equations with small noises, where the coefficients are allowed to be highly nonlinear growth with respect to the variables. Moreover, we obtain the central limit theorem for stochastic differential delay equations which the coefficients are polynomial growth with respect to the delay variables.
In this paper, we study a class of super-linear stochastic differential delay equations with Poisson jumps (SDDEwPJs). The convergence and rate of the convergence of the truncated Euler-Maruyama numerical solutions to SDDEwPJs are investigated under the generalized Khasminskii-type condition.
This paper focuses on explicit approximations for nonlinear stochastic delay differential equations (SDDEs). Under the weakly local Lipschitz and some suitable conditions, a generic truncated Euler-Maruyama (TEM) scheme for SDDEs is proposed, which numerical solutions are bounded and converge to the exact solutions in qth moment for q>0. Furthermore, the 1/2 order convergent rate is yielded. Under the Khasminskii-type condition, a more precise TEM scheme is given, which numerical solutions are exponential stable in mean square and P-1. Finally, several numerical experiments are carried out to …
We utilize the weak convergence method to establish the Freidlin--Wentzell large deviations principle (LDP) for stochastic delay differential equations (SDDEs) with super-linearly growing coefficients, which covers a large class of cases with non-globally Lipschitz coefficients. The key ingredient in our proof is the uniform moment estimate of the controlled equation, where we handle the super-linear growth of the coefficients by an iterative argument. Our results allow both the drift and diffusion coefficients of the considered equations to super-linearly grow not only with respect to the del…
We consider a general multidimensional stochastic differential delay equation (SDDE) with state-dependent colored noises. We approximate it by a stochastic differential equation (SDE) system and calculate its limit as the time delays and the correlation times of the noises go to zero. The main result is proven using a theorem about convergence of stochastic integrals by Kurtz and Protter. It formalizes and extends a result that has been obtained in the analysis of a noisy electrical circuit with delayed state-dependent noise, and may be used as a working SDE approximation of an SDDE modeling a…
We prove the well-posedness of solutions to McKean-Vlasov stochastic differential equations driven by Lévy noise under mild assumptions where, in particular, the Lévy measure is not required to be finite. The drift, diffusion and jump coefficients are allowed to be random, can grow super-linearly in the state variable, and all may depend on the marginal law of the solution process. We provide a propagation of chaos result under more relaxed conditions than those existing in the literature, and consistent with our well-posedness result. We propose a tamed Euler scheme for the associated interac…
We study the convergence of a drift implicit scheme for one-dimensional SDEs that was considered by Alfonsi for the Cox-Ingersoll-Ross (CIR) process. Under general conditions, we obtain a strong convergence of order 1. In the CIR case, Dereich, Neuenkirch and Szpruch have shown recently a strong convergence of order 1/2 for this scheme. Here, we obtain a strong convergence of order 1 under more restrictive assumptions on the CIR parameters.
In this paper, we derive the exact rate of convergence of some approximation schemes associated to scalar stochastic differential equations driven by a fractional Brownian motion with Hurst index H.
We prove that some discretization schemes for the 2D Navier-Stokes equations subject to a random perturbation converge in $L^2(Ω)$. This refines previous results which only established the convergence in probability of these numerical approximations. Using exponential moment estimates of the solution of the stochastic NS equations and convergence of a localized scheme, we can prove strong convergence of fully implicit and semi-implicit time Euler discretizations, and of a splitting scheme. The speed of the $L^2(Ω)$-convergence depends on the diffusion coefficient and on the viscosity parameter…
We characterise the convergence of a certain class of discrete time Markov processes toward locally Feller processes in terms of convergence of associated operators. The theory of locally Feller processes is applied to Lévy-type processes in order to obtain convergence results on discrete and continuous time indexed processes, simulation methods and Euler schemes. We also apply the same theory to a slightly different situation, in order to get results of convergence of diffusions or random walks toward singular diffusions. As a consequence we deduce the convergence of random walks in random me…
In this paper, we investigate the weak convergence rate of Euler-Maruyama's approximation for stochastic differential equations with irregular drifts. Explicit weak convergence rates are presented if drifts satisfy an integrability condition including discontinuous functions which can be non-piecewise continuous or in fractional Sobolev space.
In this paper, we are concerned with convergence rate of Euler-Maruyama scheme for stochastic differential equations with rough coefficients. The key contributions lie in (i), by means of regularity of non-degenerate Kolmogrov equation, we investigate convergence rate of Euler-Maruyama scheme for a class of stochastic differential equations, which allow the drifts to be Dini-continuous and unbounded; (ii) by the aid of regularization properties of degenerate Kolmogrov equation, we discuss convergence rate of Euler-Maruyama scheme for a range of degenerate stochastic differential equations, whe…
The paper studies the rate of convergence of the weak Euler approximation for solutions to possibly completely degenerate SDEs driven by Levy processes, with Hoelder-continuous coefficients. It investigates the dependence of the rate on the regularity of coefficients and driving processes. In addition, the rate robustness to the approximation of the increments of the driving process is studied and approximate Euler scheme considered. A rate of convergence is derived for an approximate jump-adapted scheme as well.
For the most general Polya urn schemes, we establish the almost sure convergence of its composition. The only requirement is that there are always enough balls of both colors, so that the extractions can be indefinitely pursued according to the specifications of the model. We also consider the method for determining the probability of fulfilling this requirement, as a function of the initial number of balls of each color.
In this paper, we investigate the convergence of the tamed Euler-Maruyama (EM) scheme for a class of neutral stochastic differential delay equations. The strong convergence results of the tamed EM scheme are presented under global and local non-Lipschitz conditions, respectively. Moreover, under a global Lipschitz condition, we provide the rate of the convergence of tamed EM, which is smaller than the rate convergence of classical EM scheme one half.
We consider SDEs with bounded and $α$-Hölder continuous drift, with $α\in (0,1)$, driven by multiplicative noise. We show that under sufficient conditions on the diffusion matrix, which guarantee the existence of a unique strong solution, the weak rate of convergence for the Euler-Maruyama scheme is almost $(1+α)/2$. The present paper forms part of the author's master's thesis.
In this paper, we consider a fixed delay Cox-Ingersoll-Ross process (CIR process) on the regime where it does not hit zero, the aim is to determine a positive preserving implicit Euler Scheme. On a time grid with constant stepsize our scheme extends the scheme proposed by Alfonsi in 2005 for the classical CIR model. Furthermore, we consider its piecewise linear interpolation, and, under suitable conditions, we establish the order of strong convergence in the uniform norm, thus extending the results of Dereich et al. in 2011.
We prove that an implicit time Euler scheme for the 2D-Boussinesq model on the torus $D$ converges. Various moment of the $W^{1,2}$-norms of the velocity and temperature, as well as their discretizations, are computed. We obtain the optimal speed of convergence in probability, and a logarithmic speed of convergence in $L^2(Ω)$. These results are deduced from a time regularity of the solution both in $L^2(D)$ and $W^{1,2}(D)$, and from an $L^2(Ω)$ convergence restricted to a subset where the $W^{1,2}$-noms of the solutions are bounded.
In this paper, we summarize the results about the strong convergence rate of the Ninomiya-Victoir scheme and the stable convergence in law of its normalized error that we obtained in previous papers. We then recall the properties of the multilevel Monte Carlo estimators involving this scheme that we introduced and studied before. Last, we are interested in the error introduced by discretizing the ordinary differential equations involved in the Ninomiya-Victoir scheme. We prove that this error converges with strong order 2 when an explicit Runge-Kutta method with order 4 (resp. 2) is used for t…
We study the rate of weak convergence of Markov chains to diffusion processes under suitable but quite general assumptions. We give an example in the financial framework, applying the convergence analysis to a multiple jumps tree approximation of the CIR process. Then, we combine the Markov chain approach with other numerical techniques in order to handle the different components in jump-diffusion coupled models. We study the speed of convergence of this hybrid approach and we provide an example in finance, applying our results to a tree-finite difference approximation in the Heston or Bates m…
This paper is concerned with the numerical approximation of stochastic mechanical systems with nonlinear holonomic constraints. Such systems are described by second order stochastic differential-algebraic equations involving an implicitly given Lagrange multiplier process. The explicit representation of the Lagrange multiplier leads to an underlying stochastic ordinary differential equation, the drift coefficient of which is typically not globally one-sided Lipschitz continuous. We investigate a half-explicit drift-truncated Euler scheme which fulfills the constraint exactly. Pathwise uniform …
We propose a reformulation of the convergence theorem of monotone numerical schemes introduced by Zhang and Zhuo for viscosity solutions of path-dependent PDEs, which extends the seminal work of Barles and Souganidis on the viscosity solution of PDE. We prove the convergence theorem under conditions similar to those of the classical theorem in the work of Barles and Souganidis. These conditions are satisfied, to the best of our knowledge, by all classical monotone numerical schemes in the context of stochastic control theory. In particular, the paper provides a unified approach to prove the co…
In this paper, we are interested in the strong convergence properties of the Ninomiya-Victoir scheme which is known to exhibit weak convergence with order 2. We prove strong convergence with order $1/2$. This study is aimed at analysing the use of this scheme either at each level or only at the finest level of a multilevel Monte Carlo estimator: indeed, the variance of a multilevel Monte Carlo estimator is related to the strong error between the two schemes used on the coarse and fine grids at each level. Recently, Giles and Szpruch proposed a scheme permitting to construct a multilevel Monte …
We analyse a splitting integrator for the time discretization of the Schrödinger equation with nonlocal interaction cubic nonlinearity and white noise dispersion. We prove that this time integrator has order of convergence one in the $p$-th mean sense, for any $p\geq1$ in some Sobolev spaces. We prove that the splitting schemes preserves the $L^2$-norm, which is a crucial property for the proof of the strong convergence result. Finally, numerical experiments illustrate the performance of the proposed numerical scheme.
We prove that some time Euler schemes for the 3D Navier-Stokes equations modified by adding a Brinkman-Forchheimer term and a random perturbation converge in $L^2(Ω)$. This extends previous results concerning the strong rate of convergence of some time discretization schemes for the 2D Navier Stokes equations. Unlike the 2D case, our proposed 3D model with the Brinkman-Forchheimer term allows for a strong rate of convergence of order almost 1/2, that is independent of the viscosity parameter.
We study the strong convergence order of the Euler-Maruyama scheme for scalar stochastic differential equations with additive noise and irregular drift. We provide a general framework for the error analysis by reducing it to a weighted quadrature problem for irregular functions of Brownian motion. Assuming Sobolev-Slobodeckij-type regularity of order $κ\in (0,1)$ for the non-smooth part of the drift, our analysis of the quadrature problem yields the convergence order $\min\{3/4,(1+κ)/2\}-ε$ for the equidistant Euler-Maruyama scheme (for arbitrarily small $ε>0$). The cut-off of the convergence …
In this paper, we derive fully implementable first order time-stepping schemes for McKean--Vlasov stochastic differential equations (McKean--Vlasov SDEs), allowing for a drift term with super-linear growth in the state component. We propose Milstein schemes for a time-discretised interacting particle system associated with the McKean--Vlasov equation and prove strong convergence of order 1 and moment stability, taming the drift if only a one-sided Lipschitz condition holds. To derive our main results on strong convergence rates, we make use of calculus on the space of probability measures with…
We prove that the implicit time Euler scheme coupled with finite elements space discretization for the 2D Navier-Stokes equations on the torus subject to a random perturbation converges in $L^2(Ω)$, and describe the rate of convergence for an $H^1$-valued initial condition. This refines previous results which only established the convergence in probability of these numerical approximations. Using exponential moment estimates of the solution of the stochastic Navier-Stokes equations and convergence of a localized scheme, we can prove strong convergence of this space-time approximation. The spee…
We present an error analysis of weak convergence of one-step numerical schemes for stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with super-linearly growing coefficients. Following Milstein's weak error analysis on the one-step approximation of SDEs, we prove a general conclusion on weak convergence of the one-step discretization of the SDEs mentioned above. As applications, we show the weak convergence rates for several numerical schemes of half-order strong convergence, such as tamed and balanced schemes. Numerical examples are presented to verify our theoretical analysis.
In this paper, we propose and analyze an adaptive time-stepping fully discrete scheme which possesses the optimal strong convergence order for the stochastic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with multiplicative noise. Based on the splitting skill and the adaptive strategy, the $H^1$-exponential integrability of the numerical solution is obtained, which is a key ingredient to derive the strong convergence order. We show that the proposed scheme converges strongly with orders $\frac12$ in time and $2$ in space. To investigate the numerical asymptotic behavior, we establish the large deviation prin…
In this paper, we are concerned with a operator splitting scheme for linear fractional and fractional degenerate stochastic conservation laws driven by multiplicative Levy noise. More specifically, using a variant of classical Kruzkov's doubling of variable approach, we show that the approximate solutions generated by the splitting scheme converges to the unique stochastic entropy solution of the underlying problems. Finally, the convergence analysis is illustrated by several numerical examples.
In this paper, we propose stochastic structure-preserving schemes to compute the effective diffusivity for particles moving in random flows. We first introduce the motion of particles using the Lagrangian formulation, which is modeled by stochastic differential equations (SDEs). We also discuss the definition of the corrector problem and effective diffusivity. Then we propose stochastic structure-preserving schemes to solve the SDEs and provide a sharp convergence analysis for the numerical schemes in computing effective diffusivity. The convergence analysis follows a probabilistic approach, w…
