In this paper the entanglement and quantum phase transition of the anisotropic s=1/2 XY model are studied by using the quantum renormalization group method. By solving the renormalization equations, we get the trivial fixed point and the untrivial fixed point which correspond to the phase of the system and the critical point, respectively. Then the concurrence between two blocks are calculated and it is found that when the number of the iterations of the renormalziation trends infinity, the concurrence develops two staturated values which are associated with two different phases, i.e., Ising-like and spin-fluid phases. We also investigate the first derivative of the concurrence, and find that there exists non-analytic behaviors at the quantum critical point, which directly associate with the divergence of the correlation length. Further insight, the scaling behaviors of the system are analyzed, it is shown that how the maximum value of the first derivative of the concurrence reaches the infinity and how the critical point is touched as the size of the system becomes large.
The dynamics of entanglement in the one-dimensional spin-1/2 anisotropic XXZ model is studied using the quantum renormalization-group method. We obtain the analytical expression of the concurrence, for two different quenching methods, it is found that initial state plays a key role in the evolution of system entanglement, i.e., the system returns completely to the initial state every other period. Our computations and analysis indicate that the first derivative of the characteristic time at which the concurrence reaches its maximum or minimum with respect to the anisotropic parameter occurs no…
Using group-theoretical approach we found a family of four nine-parameter quantum states for the two-spin-1/2 Heisenberg system in an external magnetic field and with multiple components of Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) and Kaplan-Shekhtman-Entin-Wohlman-Aharony (KSEA) interactions. Exact analytical formulas are derived for the entanglement of formation for the quantum states found. The influence of DM and KSEA interactions on the behavior of entanglement and on the shape of disentangled region is studied. A connection between the two-qubit quantum states and the reduced density matrices of many-p…
We provide a study of various quantum phase transitions occurring in the XY Heisenberg chain in a transverse magnetic field using the Meyer-Wallach (MW) measure of (global) entanglement. Such a measure, while being readily evaluated, is a multipartite measure of entanglement as opposed to more commonly used bipartite measures. Consequently, we obtain analytic expression of the measure for finite-size systems and show that it can be used to obtain critical exponents via finite-size scaling with great accuracy for the Ising universality class. We also calculate an analytic expression for the iso…
The paper reports a computational study of the quantum entanglement in V12 cluster molecular magnet. The low-temperature properties of the system are modelled with anisotropic quantum Heisenberg model on a tetramer of spins $S=1/2$ in the external magnetic field. The two-spin entanglement is quantified using the concurrence, whereas the fidelity serves as a measure of four-spin entanglement. The analytic and numerical results are derived and discussed, emphasizing the importance of real-space and spin-space interaction anisotropy and the role of quantum level crossings in the entanglement desc…
Entanglement is a key quantum phenomena and understanding transitions between phases of matter with different entanglement properties are an interesting probe of quantum mechanics. We numerically study a model of a 2D tensor network proposed to have an entanglement entropy transition first considered by Vasseur et al.[Phys. Rev. B 100, 134203 (2019)]. We find that by varying the bond dimension of the tensors in the network we can observe a transition between an area and volume phase with a logarithmic critical point around $D\approx 2$. We further characterize the critical behavior measuring a…
We define an ensemble of random Clifford quantum circuits whose output state undergoes an entanglement phase transition between two volume-law phases as a function of measurement rate. Our setup maps exactly the output state to the ground space of a spin glass model. We identify the entanglement phases using an order parameter that is accessible on a quantum chip. We locate the transition point and evaluate a critical exponent, revealing spin glass criticality. Our work establishes an exact statistical mechanics theory of an entanglement phase transition.
The search for novel entangled phases of matter has lead to the recent discovery of a new class of ``entanglement transitions'', exemplified by random tensor networks and monitored quantum circuits. Most known examples can be understood as some classical ordering transitions in an underlying statistical mechanics model, where entanglement maps onto the free energy cost of inserting a domain wall. In this paper, we study the possibility of entanglement transitions driven by physics beyond such statistical mechanics mappings. Motivated by recent applications of neural network-inspired variationa…
Entanglement phase transitions in quantum chaotic systems subject to projective measurements and in random tensor networks have emerged as a new class of critical points separating phases with different entanglement scaling. We propose a mean-field theory of such transitions by studying the entanglement properties of random tree tensor networks. As a function of bond dimension, we find a phase transition separating area-law from logarithmic scaling of the entanglement entropy. Using a mapping onto a replica statistical mechanics model defined on a Cayley tree and the cavity method, we analyze …
Many-body unitary dynamics interspersed with repeated measurements display a rich phenomenology hallmarked by measurement-induced phase transitions. Employing feedback-control operations that steer the dynamics toward an absorbing state, we study the entanglement entropy behavior at the absorbing state phase transition. For short-range control operations, we observe a transition between phases with distinct sub-extensive scalings of entanglement entropy. In contrast, the system undergoes a transition between volume-law and area-law phases for long-range feedback operations. The fluctuations of…
Discrete quantum trajectories of systems under random unitary gates and projective measurements have been shown to feature transitions in the entanglement scaling that are not encoded in the density matrix. In this paper, we study the projective transverse field Ising model, a stochastic model with two noncommuting projective measurements and no unitary dynamics. We numerically demonstrate that their competition drives an entanglement transition between two distinct steady states that both exhibit area law entanglement, and introduce a classical but nonlocal model that captures the entanglemen…
We introduce a novel class of phase transitions separating quantum states with different entanglement features. An example of such an "entanglement phase transition" is provided by the many-body localization transition in disordered quantum systems, as it separates highly entangled thermal states at weak disorder from many-body localized states with low entanglement at strong disorder. In the spirit of random matrix theory, we describe a simple model for such transitions where a physical quantum many-body system lives at the "holographic" boundary of a bulk random tensor network. Using a repli…
We develop a theory of anomalous elasticity in disordered two-dimensional flexible materials with orthorhombic crystal symmetry. Similar to the clean case, we predict existence of infinitely many flat phases with anisotropic bending rigidity and Young's modulus showing power-law scaling with momentum controlled by a single universal exponent the very same as in the clean isotropic case. With increase of temperature or disorder these flat phases undergo crumpling transition. Remarkably, in contrast to the isotropic materials where crumpling occurs in all spatial directions simultaneously, the a…
External monitoring of quantum many-body systems can give rise to a measurement-induced phase transition characterized by a change in behavior of the entanglement entropy from an area law to an unbounded growth. In this Letter, we show that this transition extends beyond bipartite correlations to multipartite entanglement. Using the quantum Fisher information, we investigate the entanglement dynamics of a continuously monitored quantum Ising chain. Multipartite entanglement exhibits the same phase boundaries observed for the entropy in the post-selected no-click trajectory. Instead, quantum ju…
Phase transitions at a finite (i.e. non-zero) temperature are typically dominated by classical correlations, in contrast to zero temperature transitions where quantum mechanics plays an essential role. Therefore, it is natural to ask if there are any signatures of a finite temperature phase transition in measures that are sensitive only to quantum correlations. Here we study one such measure, namely, entanglement negativity, across finite temperature phase transitions in several exactly solvable Hamiltonians and find that it is a singular function of temperature across the transition. As an as…
Quantum entanglement is fragile to thermal fluctuations, which raises the question whether finite temperature phase transitions support long-range entanglement similar to their zero temperature counterparts. Here we use quantum Monte Carlo simulations to study the third Renyi negativity, a generalization of entanglement negativity, as a proxy of mixed-state entanglement in the 2D transverse field Ising model across its finite temperature phase transition. We find that the area-law coefficient of the Renyi negativity is singular across the transition, while its subleading constant is zero withi…
We utilize the concept of a measurement-induced entanglement transition to analyze the interplay and competition of processes that generate and destroy entanglement in a one-dimensional quantum spin chain evolving under a locally noisy and disordered Hamiltonian. We employ continuous measurements of variable strength to induce a transition from volume to area-law scaling of the steady-state entanglement entropy. While static background disorder systematically reduces the critical measurement strength, this critical value depends non-monotonically on the strength of non-static noise. According …
