Studying the physical conditions in circumstellar disks is a crucial step toward understanding planet formation. Of particular interest is the case of HD 100546, a Herbig Be star that presents a gap within the first 13 AU of its protoplanetary disk, that may originate in the dynamical interactions of a forming planet. We gathered a large amount of new interferometric data using the AMBER/VLTI instrument in the H- and K-bands to spatially resolve the warm inner disk and constrain its structure. Then, combining these measurements with photometric observations, we analyze the circumstellar environment of HD 100546 in the light of a passive disk model based on 3D Monte-Carlo radiative transfer. Finally, we use hydrodynamical simulations of gap formation by planets to predict the radial surface density profile of the disk and test the hypothesis of ongoing planet formation. The SED and the NIR interferometric data are adequately reproduced by our model. We show that the H- and K-band emissions are coming mostly from the inner edge of the internal dust disk, located near 0.24 AU from the star, i.e., at the dust sublimation radius in our model. We directly measure an inclination of $33^{\circ} \pm 11^{\circ}$ and a position angle of $140^{\circ} \pm 16^{\circ}$ for the inner disk. This is similar to the values found for the outer disk ($i \simeq 42^{\circ}$, $PA \simeq 145^{\circ}$), suggesting that both disks may be coplanar. We finally show that 1 to 8 Jupiter mass planets located at $\sim 8$ AU from the star would have enough time to create the gap and the required surface density jump of three orders of magnitude between the inner and outer disk. However, no information on the amount of matter left in the gap is available, which precludes us from setting precise limits on the planet mass, for now.
Z CMa is a complex binary system, composed of a Herbig Be and an FU Ori star. The Herbig star is surrounded by a dust cocoon of variable geometry, and the whole system is surrounded by an infalling envelope. Previous spectropolarimetric observations have reported a preferred orientation of the polarization angle, perpendicular to the direction of a large, parsec-sized jet associated with the Herbig star. The variability in the amount of polarized light has been associated to changes in the geometry of the dust cocoon that surrounds the Herbig star. We aim to constrain the properties of Z CMa b…
We present our results from a mid-infrared interferometric survey targeted at the planet-forming region in the circumstellar disks around low- and intermediate-mass young stars. Our sample consist of 82 objects, including T Tauri stars, Herbig Ae stars, and young eruptive stars. Our main results are: 1) Disks around T Tauri stars are similar to those around Herbig Ae stars, but are relatively more extended once we account for stellar luminosity. 2) From the distribution of the sizes of the mid-infrared emitting region we find that inner dusty disk holes may be present in roughly half of the sa…
(Abridged) Near- to mid-IR observations of protoplanetary disks show that the inner regions (<10AU) are rich in small organic volatiles (e.g., C2H2 and HCN). Trends in the data suggest that disks around cooler stars (~3000K) are potentially more carbon- and molecule-rich than their hotter counterparts. Our aims are to explore the composition of the planet-forming region of disks around stars from M dwarf to Herbig Ae and compare with the observed trends. Models of the disk physical structure are coupled with a gas-grain chemical network to map the abundances in the planet-forming zone. N2 self…
The Herbig Ae star PDS2 (CD -53 251) is unusual in several ways. It has a high Galactic latitude, unrelated to any known star-forming region. It is at the cool end of the Herbig Ae sequence, where favorable circumstances facilitate the determination of stellar parameters and chemical abundances. We find $T_{\rm eff} = 6500$ K, and $\log(g) = 3.5$. The relatively low $v\cdot\sin(i) = 12\pm2$ \kms made it possible to use mostly weak lines for the abundances. PDS2 appears to belong to the class of Herbig Ae stars with normal volatile and depleted involatile elements. This pattern is seen not only…
Using the Very Long Base Array, we observed the young stellar object EC 95 in the Serpens cloud core at eight epochs from December 2007 to December 2009. Two sources are detected in our field, and are shown to form a tight binary system. The primary (EC 95a) is a 4--5 $M_\odot$ proto-Herbig AeBe object (arguably the youngest such object known), whereas the secondary (EC 95b) is most likely a low-mass T Tauri star. Interestingly, both sources are non-thermal emitters. While T Tauri stars are expected to power a corona because they are convective while they go down the Hayashi track, intermediat…

Planet formation studies are often focused on solar-type stars, implicitly considering our Sun as reference point. This approach overlooks, however, that Herbig Ae/Be stars are in some sense much better targets to study planet formation processes empirically, with their disks generally being larger, brighter and simply easier to observe across a large wavelength range. In addition, massive gas giant planets have been found on wide orbits around early type stars, triggering the question if these objects did indeed form there and, if so, by what process. In the following I briefly review what we…
To understand the chemical composition of planets, it is important to know the chemical composition of the region where they form in protoplanetary disks. Due to its fundamental role in chemical and biological processes, carbon is a key element to trace. We aim to identify the carriers and processes behind the extended NIR flux observed around several Herbig stars. We compare the extended NIR flux from objects in the PIONIER Herbig Ae/Be survey with their flux in the PAH features. HD 100453 is used as a benchmark case to investigate the influence of quantum heated particles, like PAHs or very …
We present Halpha linear spectropolarimetry of a large sample of Herbig Ae/Be stars. Together with newly obtained data for 17 objects, the sample contains 56 objects, the largest such sample to date. A change in linear polarization across the Halpha line is detected in 42 (75 %) objects, which confirms the previous finding that the circumstellar environment around these stars on small spatial scales has an asymmetric structure, which is typically identified with a disk. A second outcome of this research is that we confirm that Herbig Ae stars are similar to T Tauri stars in displaying a line p…
Deep mid-infrared (10-20 $μ$m) images with sub-arcsec resolution were obtained for two Herbig Be stars, MWC 1080 and HD 259431, to probe their immediate environments. Our goal is to understand the origin of the diffuse nebulosities observed around these two very young objects. By analyzing our new mid-IR images and comparing them to published data at other wavelengths, we demonstrate that the well extended emission around MWC 1080 traces neither a disk nor an envelope, but rather the surfaces of a cavity created by the outflow from MWC 1080A, the primary star of the MWC 1080 system. In the N-b…

The intermediate mass Herbig Ae star V1787 Ori is a member of the L1641 star-forming region in the Orion A molecular cloud. We report the detection of an M-type companion to V1787 Ori at a projected separation of 6.66" (corresponding to 2577 au), from the analysis of VLT/NACO adaptive optics $K_s$-band image. Using astrometric data from Gaia DR2, we show that V1787 Ori A and B share similar distance ($d$ $\sim$ 387 pc) and proper motion, indicating that they are physically associated. We estimate the spectral type of V1787 Ori B to be M5 $\pm$ 2 from color--spectral type calibration tables and…
A new southern star-formation region, located at an estimated distance of ~1.5 kpc in the Lynds 1664 dark cloud in Canis Major, is described. Lynds 1664 contains several compact star clusters, small stellar groups, and young stars associated with reflection nebulae. Narrow-band Hα and [SII] images obtained with 4-m CTIO telescope reveal more than 20 new Herbig-Haro objects associated with several protostellar outflows.

(Abridged) The stellar metallicity, [M/H], may have important implications for planet formation. In particular, Kama et al. proposed that the deficit of refractory elements in the surfaces of some Herbig Ae/Be stars (HAeBes) may be linked to the presence of disk cavities likely caused by Jovian planets that trap the metal-rich content. This work aims to provide a robust test on the previous proposal by analyzing the largest sample of HAeBes with homogeneously derived [M/H] values, stellar, and circumstellar properties. [M/H] values of 67 HAeBes were derived based on observed spectra and Kurucz…
Variability in emission lines is a characteristic feature in young stars and can be used as a tool to study the physics of the accretion process. Here we present a study of Hα variability in 15 T Tauri and Herbig Ae stars (K7-B2) over a wide range of time windows, from minutes, to hours, to days, and years. We assess the variability using linewidth measurements and the time series of line profiles. All objects show gradual, slow profile changes on time-scales of days. In addition, in three cases there is evidence for rapid variations in Hα with typical time-scales of 10 min, which occurs in 10…
We present FEROS high-resolution (R~45000) optical spectroscopy of 34 Herbig Ae/Be star candidates with previously unknown or poorly constrained spectral types. Within the sample, 16 sources are positionally coincident with nearby (d<250 pc) star-forming regions (SFRs). All the candidates have IR excess. We determine the spectral type and luminosity class of the sources, derive their radial and rotational velocities, and constrain their distances employing spectroscopic parallaxes. We confirm 13 sources as Herbig Ae/Be stars and find one classical T Tauri star. Three sources are emission line …
Understanding how young stars gain their masses through disk-to-star accretion is of paramount importance in astrophysics. It affects our knowledge about the early stellar evolution, the disk lifetime and dissipation processes, the way the planets form on the smallest scales, or the connection to macroscopic parameters characterizing star-forming regions on the largest ones, among others. In turn, mass accretion rate estimates depend on the accretion paradigm assumed. For low-mass T Tauri stars with strong magnetic fields there is consensus that magnetospheric accretion (MA) is the driving mec…
The physical processes occurring within the inner few astronomical units of proto-planetary disks surrounding Herbig Ae stars are crucial to setting the environment in which the outer planet-forming disk evolves and put critical constraints on the processes of accretion and planet migration. We present the most complete published sample of high angular resolution H- and K-band observations of the stars HD 163296 and HD 190073, including 30 previously unpublished nights of observations of the former and 45 nights of the latter with the CHARA long-baseline interferometer, in addition to archival…
This paper reports the results from the multicolor photometric observations of 15 pre-main sequence stars collected in the period 2010 September - 2017 October. The stars from our study are located in the star-forming HII region IC 5070. These objects were previously detected as either emission line stars, flare stars, T Tauri variables or Herbig Ae/Be stars. Photometric observations, especially concerning the long-term behavior of the objects are missing in the literature. We present the first photometric monitoring for all stars from our study. The analysis of the obtained BVRI photometric d…
We studied a small comet-shape reflection nebula, located in the dark cloud SL 4 in the Vela Molecular Ridge cloud C, known as BBWo 192E (GM 1-23), and a young infrared cluster embedded into the nebula, for the evidences of recent star formation. We obtained the images of BBWo 192E in Halpha and [SII] lines and in SDSS i' with Blanco telescope at the Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory to discover new Herbig-Haro (HH) flows. 2MASS and WISE surveys were used for the search of the additional member stars of the cluster. We also studied proper motions and parallaxes of the cluster members with…
We have acquired sub-millimeter observations of 33 fields containing 37 Herbig Ae/Be (HAEBE) stars or potential HAEBE stars, including SCUBA maps of all but two of these stars. Nine target stars show extended dust emission. The other 18 are unresolved, suggesting that the dust envelopes or disks around these stars are less than a few arcseconds in angular size. In several cases we find that the strongest sub-millimeter emission originates from younger, heavily embedded sources rather than from the HAEBE star, which means that previous models must be viewed with caution. These new data, in comb…
We have been monitoring, at high cadence, the photometric and spectroscopic evolution of VES 263 following the discovery in 2018 of a brightening labeled as event Gaia-18azl. VES 263 is so far a neglected emission-line object discovered in the 1960s on objective prism plates, tentatively classified as a semi-regular AGB cool giant by automated analysis of ASASSN lightcurves. We have discovered that VES 263 is a bonafide massive pre-Main Sequence object (~12 Msun), of the Herbig AeBe type. It is located at 1.68+/-0.07 kpc distance, within the Cyg OB2 star-forming region, and it is highly redden…
The dust in the interstellar medium, that provides the material for forming stars - and circumstellar discs as a natural by-product - is known to have submicron sizes. As these discs are the sites of planet formation, those small grains are predicted to grow to larger entities when the stars are still young. will review evidence for the first steps in grain growth in proto-planetary discs around young stars, based on recent Spitzer and ground-based infrared observations. First, I will discuss disc and dust properties in Herbig Ae/Be stars, and then move to the lower-mass T Tauri stars and the …
We present observations of continuum emission in the MIR to mm wavelength range, complemented with ammonia observations, of the dense core ahead of the radio Herbig Haro object HH 80N, found in the GGD 27 region. The continuum emission in all the observed bands peaks at the same position, consistent with the presence of an embedded object, HH 80N-IRS1, within the core. The distribution of the VLA ammonia emission is well correlated with that of the dust, suggesting that photochemical effects caused by the nearby Herbig Haro object do not play an important role in shaping this particular molecu…

We study the formation and the kinematic evolution of the early type Herbig Be star IL Cep and its environment. The young star is a member of the Cep OB3 association, at a distance of 798$\pm$9 pc, and has a "cavity" associated with it. We found that the B0V star HD 216658, which is astrometrically associated with IL Cep, is at the center of the cavity. From the evaluation of various pressure components created by HD 216658, it is established that the star is capable of creating the cavity. We identified 79 co-moving stars of IL Cep at 2 pc radius from the analysis of {\textit Gaia} EDR3 astro…
AB Aur is a Herbig Ae star that hosts a prototypical transition disk. The disk shows a plethora of features connected with planet formation mechanisms. Understanding the physical and chemical characteristics of these features is crucial to advancing our knowledge of planet formation. We aim to characterize the gaseous disk around the Herbig Ae star AB Aur. A complete spectroscopic study was performed using NOEMA to determine the physical and chemical conditions. We present new observations of the continuum and 12CO, 13CO, C18O, H2CO, and SO lines. We used the integrated intensity maps and stac…
KH 15D is a system which consists of a young, eccentric binary, and a circumbinary disk which obscures the binary as the disk precesses. We develop a self-consistent model that provides a reasonable fit to the photometric variability that was observed in the KH 15D system over the past 60 years. Our model suggests that the circumbinary disk has an inner edge $r_{\rm in}\lesssim 1 \ {\rm au}$, an outer edge $r_{\rm out} \sim {\rm a \ few \ au}$, and that the disk is misaligned relative to the stellar binary by $\sim$5-16 degrees, with the inner edge more inclined than the outer edge. The differ…
We explore how measurements of protoplanetary disc masses and accretion rates provided by surveys of star forming regions can be analysed via the dimensionless accretion parameter, which we define as the product of the accretion rate and stellar age divided by the disc mass. By extending and generalising the study of Jones et al (2012), we demonstrate that this parameter should be less than or of order unity for a wide range of evolutionary scenarios, rising above unity only during the final stages of outside in clearing by external photoevaporation. We use this result to assess the reliabilit…

We present Keck Interferometer observations of T Tauri and Herbig Ae/Be stars with a spatial resolution of a few milliarcseconds and a spectral resolution of ~2000. Our observations span the K-band, and include the Br gamma transition of Hydrogen and the v=2-0 and v=3-1 transitions of carbon monoxide. For several targets we also present data from Keck/NIRSPEC that provide higher spectral resolution, but a seeing-limited spatial resolution, of the same spectral features. We analyze the Br gamma emission in the context of both disk and infall/outflow models, and conclude that the Br gamma emissi…
We present a Berkeley-Illinois-Maryland Association (BIMA) Array molecular survey of the star forming core ahead of HH 80N, the optically obscured northern counterpart of the Herbig-Haro objects HH 80/81. Continuum emission at 1.4 mm and 8 micron is detected at the center of the core, which confirms the presence of an embedded very young stellar object in the core. All detected molecular species arise in a ring-like structure, which is most clearly traced by CS(2-1) emission. This molecular ring suggests that strong molecular depletion occurs in the inner part of the core (at a radius of ~0.1 …
Linear spectropolarimetry is a powerful tool to probe circumstellar structures on spatial scales that cannot yet be achieved through direct imaging. In this review I discuss the role that emission-line polarimetry can play in constraining geometrical and physical properties of a wide range of circumstellar environments, varying from the accretion disks around pre-main sequence T Tauri and Herbig Ae/Be stars, to the issue of stellar wind clumping, and the aspherical outflows from the massive star progenitors of supernovae and long gamma-ray bursts at low metallicity.
Aims. We study a sample of eight B[e] stars with uncertain evolutionary status to shed light on the origin of their circumstellar dust. Methods. We performed a diagnostic analysis on the spectral energy distribution beyond infrared wavelengths, and conducted a census of neighboring region of each target to ascertain its evolutionary status. Results. In comparison to pre-main sequence Herbig stars, these B[e] stars show equally substantial excess emission in the near-infrared, indicative of existence of warm dust, but much reduced excess at longer wavelengths, so the dusty envelopes should be c…
Disentangling distinct stellar populations along the red-giant branches (RGBs) of Globular Clusters (GCs) is possible by using the pseudo two-color diagram dubbed chromosome map (ChM). One of the most intriguing findings is that the so-called first-generation (1G) stars, characterized by the same chemical composition of their natal cloud, exhibit extended sequences in the ChM. Unresolved binaries and internal variations in helium or metallicity have been suggested to explain this phenomenon. Here, we derive high-precision Hubble Space Telescope photometry of the GCs NGC6362 and NGC6838 and bui…
Small organic molecules, such as C2H, HCN, and H2CO, are tracers of the C, N, and O budget in protoplanetary disks. We present high angular resolution (10-50 au) observations of C2H, HCN, and H2CO lines in five protoplanetary disks from the Molecules with ALMA at Planet-forming Scales (MAPS) ALMA Large Program. We derive column density and excitation temperature profiles for HCN and C2H, and find that the HCN emission arises in a temperate (20-30 K) layer in the disk, while C2H is present in relatively warmer (20-60 K) layers. In the case of HD 163296, we find a decrease in column density for …
Thanks to a variety of pertinent wide-angle facilities (WFI-slitless mode, VLT-FLAMES (Pasquini et al. 2002), SPITZER, 2MASS) it is possible to comprehensively study the nature of early-type objects in star-forming regions like the Eagle Nebula and Carina on large spatial scales. In them, the young open clusters NGC 6611, Trumpler 14, Trumpler 15, Trumpler 16, and their vicinities are of particular interest. With the WFI in its slitless mode (Baade et al. 1999), one can reliably and with little extra effort discriminate in thousands of spectra between intrinsic circumstellar emission as in HBe…
We present an optical/infrared study of the dense molecular cloud, L935, dubbed "The Gulf of Mexico", which separates the North America and the Pelican nebulae, and we demonstrate that this area is a very active star forming region. A wide-field imaging study with interference filters has revealed 35 new Herbig-Haro objects in the Gulf of Mexico. A grism survey has identified 41 Halpha emission-line stars, 30 of them new. A small cluster of partly embedded pre-main sequence stars is located around the known LkHalpha 185-189 group of stars, which includes the recently erupting FUor HBC 722.
We image with unprecedented spatial resolution and sensitivity disk features that could be potential signs of planet-disk interaction. Two companion candidates have been claimed in the disk around the young Herbig Ae/Be star HD100546. Thus, this object serves as an excellent target for our investigation of the natal environment of giant planets. We exploit the power of extreme adaptive optics operating in conjunction with the new high-contrast imager SPHERE to image HD100546 in scattered light. We obtain the first polarized light observations of this source in the visible (with resolution as f…
We present results from an 850-$μ$m survey of the $\sim$ 5 Myr old $λ$ Orionis star-forming region. We used the SCUBA-2 camera on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope to survey a $\sim$0.5-diameter circular region containing 36 (out of 59) cluster members with infrared excesses indicative of circumstellar disks. We detected only one object at $>3σ$ significance, the Herbig Ae star HD 245185, with a flux density of $\sim74$ mJy beam$^{-1}$ corresponding to a dust mass of $\sim150$ M$_{\oplus}$. Stacking the individually undetected sources did not produce a significant mean signal but gives an uppe…
We discuss the different dust components of a protoplanetary disk with a special emphasis on grain composition, size and structure. The paper will highlight the role dust grains play in protoplanetary disks, as well as observational results supporting this knowledge. First, the path dust travels from the interstellar medium into the CS disk is described. Then dust condensation sequences from the gas are introduced, to determine the most likely species that occur in a disk. The characteristics of silicates are handled in detail: composition, lattice structure, magnesium to iron ratio and spectr…
Molecular line observations are powerful tracers of the physical and chemical conditions across the different evolutionary stages of star, disk and planet formation. Using the high angular resolution and unprecedented sensitivity of the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) there is now a drive to detect small-scale gas structures in protoplanetary disks that can be attributed directly to forming planets. We report high angular resolution ALMA Band 7 observations of sulphur monoxide (SO) in the nearby planet-hosting disk around Herbig star HD 100546. SO is rarely detected in evolved protoplane…
We analyze radio continuum and line observations from the archives of the Very Large Array, as well as X-ray observations from the \emph{Chandra} archive of the region of massive star formation W75N. Five radio continuum sources are detected: VLA 1, VLA 2, VLA 3, Bc, and VLA 4. VLA 3 appears to be a radio jet; we detect J=1-0, v=0 SiO emission towards it, probably tracing the inner parts of a molecular outflow. The radio continuum source Bc, previously believed to be tracing an independent star, is found to exhibit important changes in total flux density, morphology, and position. These result…
We present APEX 218 GHz observations of molecular emission in a complete sample of embedded protostars in the Ophiuchus star-forming region. To study the physical properties of the cores, we calculate H$_2$CO and c-C$_3$H$_2$ rotational temperatures, both of which are good tracers of the kinetic temperature of the molecular gas. We find that the H$_2$CO temperatures range between 16 K and 124 K, with the highest H$_2$CO temperatures toward the hot corino source IRAS 16293-2422 (69-124 K) and the sources in the $ρ$ Oph A cloud (23-49 K) located close to the luminous Herbig Be star S 1, which ex…
X-rays are a powerful probe of activity in early stages of star formation. They allow us to identify young stars even after they have lost the IR signatures of circumstellar disks and provide constraints on their distance. Here we report on XMM-Newton observations which detect 121 young stellar objects (YSOs) in two fields between L1641S and $κ$ Ori. These observations extend the Survey of Orion A with XMM and Spitzer (SOXS). The YSOs are contained in a ring of gas and dust apparent at millimeter wavelengths, and in far-IR and near-IR surveys. The X-ray luminosity function of the young stellar…
Understanding the temperature structure of protoplanetary disks is key to interpreting observations, predicting the physical and chemical evolution of the disk, and modeling planet formation processes. In this study, we constrain the two-dimensional thermal structure of the disk around Herbig Ae star HD 163296. Using the thermo-chemical code RAC2D, we derive a thermal structure that reproduces spatially resolved ALMA observations (~0.12 arcsec (13 au) - 0.25 arcsec (26 au)) of CO J = 2-1, 13CO J = 1-0, 2-1, C18O J = 1-0, 2-1, and C17O J = 1-0, the HD J = 1-0 flux upper limit, the spectral ener…
Located at the galactic anticenter, Sh 2-284 is a HII region which harbors several young open clusters; Dolidze 25, a rare metal poor (Z~0.004) young cluster, is one of these. Given its association with Sh 2-284, it is reasonable to assume the low metallicity for the whole HII region. Sh~2-284 is expected to host a significant population of Pre-Main Sequence (PMS) stars of both low and intermediate mass stars (Herbig Ae stars). We aim at characterizing these stars by means of a spectroscopic and photometric survey conducted with VIMOS@VLT and complemented with additional optical and infrared o…
The Herbig Ae star HD 139614 is a group-Ib object, which featureless SED indicates disk flaring and a possible pre-transitional evolutionary stage. We present mid- and near-IR interferometric results collected with MIDI, AMBER and PIONIER with the aim of constraining the spatial structure of the 0.1-10 AU disk region and assess its possible multi-component structure. A two-component disk model composed of an optically thin 2-AU wide inner disk and an outer temperature-gradient disk starting at 5.6 AU reproduces well the observations. This is an additional argument to the idea that group-I HAeB…
The formation and the evolution of protoplanetary disks are important stages in the lifetime of stars. The processes of disk evolution and planet formation are intrinsically linked. We spatially resolve with GRAVITY/VLTI in the K-band the sub au-scale region of 27 stars to gain statistical understanding of their properties. We look for correlations with stellar parameters, such as luminosity, mass, temperature and age. Our sample also cover a range of various properties in terms of reprocessed flux, flared or flat morphology, and gaps. We developed semi-physical geometrical models to fit our i…
Recent ALMA observations identified one of the most massive star-forming cores yet observed in the Milky Way; SDC335-MM1, within the infrared dark cloud SDC335.579-0.292. Along with an accompanying core MM2, SDC335 appears to be in the early stages of its star formation process. In this paper we aim to constrain the properties of the stars forming within these two massive millimetre sources. Observations of SDC335 at 6, 8, 23 and 25GHz were made with the ATCA. We report the results of these continuum measurements, which combined with archival data, allow us to build and analyse the spectral en…
We present VLA NH3 and PdBI NH2D and H13NC observations of the star forming core ahead of HH 80N, the optically obscured northern counterpart of the Herbig-Haro objects HH 80/81. The main goal is to determine the kinematical information of the high density regions of the core ($n\lesssim 10^5$ cm$^{-3}$), missed in previous works due to the depletion of the species observed (e.g. CS). The obtained maps show different kinematical signatures between the eastern and western parts of the core, suggesting a possible dynamical interaction of the core with the HH 80/81/80N outflow. The analysis of th…
Both observations of arc-like structures and luminosity bursts of stars > 1 Myr in age indicate that at least some stars undergo late infall events. We investigate scenarios of replenishing the mass reservoir around a star via capturing and infalling events of cloudlets. We carry out altogether 24 three-dimensional hydrodynamical simulations of cloudlet encounters with a Herbig star of mass 2.5 solar mass using the moving mesh code AREPO. To account for the two possibilities of a star or a cloudlet traveling through the interstellar medium (ISM), we put either the star or the cloudlet at rest …
