In this paper, we study the alternating Euler $T$-sums and $§$-sums, which are infinite series involving (alternating) odd harmonic numbers, and have similar forms and close relations to the Dirichlet beta functions. By using the method of residue computations, we establish the explicit formulas for the (alternating) linear and quadratic Euler $T$-sums and $§$-sums, from which, the parity theorems of Hoffman's double and triple $t$-values and Kaneko-Tsumura's double and triple $T$-values are further obtained. As supplements, we also show that the linear $T$-sums and $§$-sums are expressible in…
In this paper we study sums of Dirichlet series whose coefficients are terms of the Thue-Morse sequence and variations thereof. We find closed-form expressions for such sums in terms of known constants and functions including the Riemann zeta function and the Dirichlet eta function using elementary methods.
We prove an asymptotic formula for the mean-square average of $L$- functions associated to subgroups of characters of sufficiently large size. Our proof relies on the study of certain character sums ${\cal A}(p,d)$ recently introduced by E. Elma. We obtain an asymptotic formula for ${\cal A}(p,d)$ which holds true for any divisor $d$ of $p-1$ removing previous restrictions on the size of $d$. This anwers a question raised in Elma's paper. Our proof relies both on estimates on the frequency of large character sums and techniques from the theory of uniform distribution. As an application we dedu…
Shifted convolution sums play a prominent rôle in analytic number theory. We investigate pointwise bounds, mean-square bounds, and average bounds for shifted convolution sums for Hecke eigenforms.
We study the behavior of the shifted convolution sum involving fourth power of the Fourier coefficients of holomorphic cusp forms with a weight function to be the $k$-full kernel function for any fixed integer $k\geq2$.
Inspired by a famous identity of Ramanujan, we propose a general formula linearizing the convolution of Dirichlet series as the sum of Dirichlet series with modified weights; its specialization produces new identities and recovers several identities derived earlier in the literature, such as the convolution of squares of Bernoulli numbers by A. Dixit and collaborators, or the convolution of Bernoulli numbers by Y. Komori and collaborators.
In [arXiv:1504.07804], Keating, Rodgers, Roditty-Gershon and Rudnick established relationships of the mean-square of sums of the divisor function $d_k(f)$ over short intervals and over arithmetic progressions for the function field $\mathbb F_q[T]$ to certain integrals over the ensemble of unitary matrices. We consider similar problems leading to distributions over the ensemble of symplectic matrices. We also consider analogous questions involving convolutions of the von Mangoldt function.
The asymptotic formula of the fourth moment of Dirichlet $L$-functions at the central value was predicted in a conjecture by J. B. Conrey, D. W. Farmer, J. P. Keating, M. O. Rubinstein, and N. C. Snaith, and the prime moduli case was proved by M. P. Young in 2011. This work establishes this asymptotic formula for general moduli. The work relies on the study of a special divisor sum function, called $\mathcal{D}_q$-function, which plays a key role in deducing the main terms. Another key ingredient is an application of new bounds for double sums in Kloosterman sums, applied in the estimate of th…
We establish that three well-known and rather different looking conjectures about Dirichlet characters and their (weighted) sums, (concerning the Pólya-Vinogradov theorem for maximal character sums, the maximal admissible range in Burgess' estimate for short character sums, and upper bounds for $L(1,χ)$ and $L(1+it,χ)$) are more-or-less "equivalent". We also obtain a new mean value theorem for logarithmically weighted sums of 1-bounded multiplicative functions.
In this paper, we investigate the sums of mutliple zeta(-star) values of height one: $Z_{\pm}(n)=\sum_{a+b=n} (\pm 1)^bζ(\{1\}^a,b+2)$, $Z_{\pm}^{\star}(n)=\sum_{a+b=n} (\pm 1)^bζ^{\star}(\{1\}^a,b+2)$. In particular, we prove that the weighted sum $\sum_{\substack{0\leq m\leq p\\ m: {\rm even}}} \sum_{\mid\boldsymbolα\mid=p+3} 2^{α_{m+1}\ +1}ζ(α_0,α_1,\ldots,α_m,α_{m+1}+1) $ can be evaluated through the convolution of $Z_{-}(m)$ and $Z_{+}(n)$ with $m+n=p$.
