We define a new $q$-deformation of Brauer's centralizer algebra which contains Hecke algebras of type $A$ as unital subalgebras. We determine its generic structure as well as the structure of certain semisimple quotients. This is expected to have applications for constructions of subfactors of type II$_1$ factors and for module categories of fusion categories of type $A$ corresponding to certain symmetric spaces.
We develop methods of computation of the Brauer-Picard groups of fusion categories and apply them to compute such groups for several classes of fusion categories of prime power dimension: representation categories of elementary abelian groups with twisted associativity constraint, extra special p-groups, and the Kac-Paljutkin Hopf algebra. We conclude that many finite groups of Lie type occur as composition factors of the Brauer-Picard groups of pointed fusion categories.
With the motivation of giving a more precise estimation of the quantum Brauer group of a Hopf algebra $H$ over a field $k$ we construct an exact sequence containing the quantum Brauer group of a Hopf algebra in a certain braided monoidal category. Let $B$ be a Hopf algebra in $\C=_H ^H\YD$, the category of Yetter-Drinfel'd modules over $H$. We consider the quantum Brauer group $\BQ(\C; B)$ of $B$ in $\C$, which is isomorphic to the usual quantum Brauer group $\BQ(k; B\rtimes H)$ of the Radford biproduct Hopf algebra $B\rtimes H$. We show that under certain symmetricity condition on the braidin…
We analyze the action of the Brauer-Picard group of a pointed fusion category on the set of Lagrangian subcategories of its center. Using this action we compute the Brauer-Picard groups of pointed fusion categories associated to several classical finite groups. As an application, we construct new examples of weakly group-theoretical fusion categories.
We prove that the Brauer-Picard group of Morita autoequiv- alences of each of the three fusion categories which arise as an even part of the Asaeda-Haagerup subfactor or of its index 2 extension is the Klein four-group. We describe the 36 bimodule categories which occur in the full subgroupoid of the Brauer-Picard groupoid on these three fusion categories. We also classify all irreducible subfactors both of whose even parts are among these categories, of which there are 111 up to isomorphism of the planar algebra (76 up to duality). Although we identify the entire Brauer-Picard group, there ma…
In this paper we prove an analogue of Brauer's theorem for faithful objects in fusion categories. Other notions, such as the order and the index associated to faithful objects of fusion categories are also discussed. We show that the index of a faithful simple object of a fusion categories coincides with the order of the universal grading group of the fusion category.
We compute the group of Morita auto-equivalences of the even parts of the $ADE$ subfactors, and Galois conjugates. To achieve this we study the braided auto-equivalences of the Drinfeld centres of these categories. We give planar algebra presentations for each of these Drinfeld centres, which we leverage to obtain information about the braided auto-equivalences of the corresponding categories. We also perform the same calculations for the fusion categories constructed from the full $ADE$ subfactors. Of particular interest, the even part of the $D_{10}$ subfactor is shown to have Brauer-Picard …
We develop further the techniques presented in [M. Mombelli. On the tensor product of bimodule categories over Hopf algebras. Preprint arXiv:1111.1610 ] to study bimodule categories over the representation categories of arbitrary finite-dimensional Hopf algebras. We compute the Brauer-Picard group of equivalence classes of exact invertible bimodule categories over the representation categories of a certain large family of pointed non-semisimple Hopf algebras, the so called supergroup algebras. To obtain this result we first give a classification of equivalence classes of exact indecomposable b…
We introduce a new algebra B_l(z,q) depending on two nonzero complex parameters such that B_l(q^n,q) at q=1 coincides with the Brauer algebra B_l(n). We establish an analog of the Brauer-Schur-Weyl duality where the action of the new algebra commutes with the representation of the twisted deformation U'_q(o_n) of the enveloping algebra U(o_n) in the tensor power of the vector representation.
For the quantum walled Brauer algebra, we construct its Specht modules and (for generic parameters of the algebra) seminormal modules. The latter construction yields the spectrum of a commuting family of Jucys--Murphy elements. We also propose a Baxterization prescription; it involves representing the quantum walled Brauer algebra in terms of morphisms in a braided monoidal category and introducing parameters into these morphisms, which allows constructing a "universal transfer matrix" that generates commuting elements of the algebra.
Motivated by Brundan-Kleshchev's work on higher Schur-Weyl duality, we establish mixed Schur-Weyl duality between general linear Lie algebras and cyclotomic walled Brauer algebras in an arbitrary level. Using weakly cellular bases of cyclotomic walled Brauer algebras, we classify highest weight vectors of certain mixed tensor modules of general linear Lie algebras. This leads to an efficient way to compute decomposition matrices of cyclotomic walled Brauer algebras arising from mixed Schur-Weyl duality, which generalizes early results on level two walled Brauer algebras.
In this paper we consider the $q$-Brauer algebra over $R$ a commutative noetherian domain. We first construct a new basis for $q$-Brauer algebras, and we then prove that it is a cell basis, and thus these algebras are cellular in the sense of Graham and Lehrer. In particular, they are shown to be an iterated inflation of Hecke algebras of type $A_{n-1}.$ Moreover, when $R$ is a field of arbitrary characteristic, we determine for which parameters the $q$-Brauer algebras are quasi-heredity. So the general theory of cellular algebras and quasi-hereditary algebras applies to $q$-Brauer algebras. A…
Expanding the classical work of Kazhdan-Lusztig, we construct a bar involution and canonical bases on the $q$-Brauer algebra introduced by Wenzl. We define explicit actions of the $q$-Brauer algebra on the tensor spaces, and formulate $\imath$Schur dualities between the $q$-Brauer algebra and the $\imath$quantum groups of type AI and AII respectively.
We introduce the periplectic $q$-Brauer category over an integral domain of characteristic not $2$. This is a strict monoidal supercategory and can be considered as a $q$-analogue of the periplectic Brauer category. We prove that the periplectic $q$-Brauer category admits a split triangular decomposition in the sense of Brundan-Stroppel. When the ground ring is an algebraically closed field, the category of locally finite dimensional right modules for the periplectic $q$-Brauer category is an upper finite fully stratified category in the sense of Brundan and Stroppel. We prove that periplectic…
We construct the Jucys-Murphy elements and the Jucys-Murphy basis for the $q$-Brauer algebra in the sense of Mathas[11]. We also give a necessary and sufficient condition for the $q$-Brauer algebra being (split) semisimple over an arbitrary field.
We construct a long exact sequence computing the obstruction space, pi_1(BrPic(C_0)), to G-graded extensions of a fusion category C_0. The other terms in the sequence can be computed directly from the fusion ring of C_0. We apply our result to several examples coming from small index subfactors, thereby constructing several new fusion categories as G-extensions. The most striking of these is a Z/2Z-extension of one of the Asaeda-Haagerup fusion categories, which is one of only two known 3-supertransitive fusion categories outside the ADE series. In another direction, we show that our long exac…
In this paper, we give a criterion on the semisimplicity of quantized walled Brauer algebras $\mathscr B_{r,s}$ and classify its simple modules over an arbitrary field $κ$.
In this paper, we compute the discriminant of the Gram matrix associated to each cell module of the Brauer algebra $\cba{n}$. Theoretically, we know when a cell module of $\cba{n}$ is equal to its simple head. This gives a solution of this long standing problem.
This paper clarifies basic definitions in the universal construction of topological theories and monoidal categories. The definition of the universal construction is given for various types of monoidal categories, including rigid and symmetric. It is also explained how to set up the universal construction for non-monoidal categories. The second part of the paper explains how to associate a rigid symmetric monoidal category to a small category, a sort of the Brauer envelope of a category. The universal construction for the Brauer envelopes generalizes some earlier work of the first two authors …
A new class of associative algebras referred to as affine walled Brauer algebras are introduced. These algebras are free with infinite rank over a commutative ring containing 1. Then level two walled Brauer algebras over C are defined, which are some cyclotomic quotients of affine walled Brauer algebras. We establish a super Schur-Weyl duality between affine walled Brauer algebras and general linear Lie superalgebras, and realize level two walled Brauer algebras as endomorphism algebras of tensor modules of Kac modules with mixed tensor products of the natural module and its dual over general …
In this paper, we establish explicit relationship between decomposition numbers of quantized walled Brauer algebras and those for either Hecke algebras associated to certain symmetric groups or (rational) $q$-Schur algebras over a field $κ$. This enables us to use Ariki's result \cite{Ar} and Varagnolo-Vasserot's result \cite{VV} to compute such decomposition numbers via inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials associated with affine Weyl groups of type $A$ if the ground field is $\mathbb C$.
We show how to calculate the relative tensor product of bimodule categories (not necessarily invertible) using ladder string diagrams. As an illustrative example, we compute the Brauer-Picard ring for the fusion category $\operatorname{Vec}(\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z})$. Moreover, we provide a physical interpretation of all indecomposable bimodule categories in terms of domain walls in the associated topological phase. We show how this interpretation can be used to compute the Brauer-Picard ring from a physical perspective.
We provide an explicit isomorphism between a quotient of the Bannai--Ito algebra and the Brauer algebra. We clarify also the connection with the action of the Lie superalgebra osp(1|2) on the threefold tensor product of its fundamental representation. Finally, a conjecture is proposed to describe the centralizer of osp(1|2) acting on three copies of an arbitrary finite irreducible representation in terms of a quotient of the Bannai-Ito algebra.
In this article we construct three explicit natural subgroups of the Brauer-Picard group of the category of representations of a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra. In examples the Brauer Picard group decomposes into an ordered product of these subgroups, somewhat similar to a Bruhat decomposition. Our construction returns for any Hopf algebra three types of braided autoequivalences and correspondingly three families of invertible bimodule categories. This gives examples of so-called (2-)Morita equivalences and defects in topological field theories. We have a closer look at the case of quantum gr…
We show how to use Jantzen's sum formula for Weyl modules to prove semisimplicity criteria for endomorphism algebras of $\textbf{U}_q$-tilting modules (for any field $\mathbb{K}$ and any parameter $q\in\mathbb{K}-\{0,-1\}$). As an application, we recover the semisimplicity criteria for the Hecke algebras of types $\textbf{A}$ and $\textbf{B}$, the walled Brauer algebras and the Brauer algebras from our more general approach.
