We investigate the possible inner relation between the familiar Bekenstein-Hawking area-entropy relation and ours presented in a simple $D_0$ brane gas system on the basis of the kinematical holographic relation [KHR] in the Yang's quantized space-time. We find out that the relation between them is well understood through the idea of {\it elementary} Schwarzschild black hole realized on a single $[site]$ of Planckian scale in our scheme. Related arguments explain the origin of a certain kind of universality as seen in $η=1/4$ in the Bekenstein-Hawking relation and lead us to notice the similarity between the effective mass of $D_0$ brane, $μ_S,$ inside black holes and the Hawking radiation temperature, $T_{H.R.} (= 1/(8πM_S))$, both inversely proportional to the black hole mass $M_S$ and having almost the same order of magnitude. Motivated by this fact, we attempt to examine further the physical implication of $η$ by introducing in our scheme an ansatz which enables us self-consistently to equate $μ_S$ to $T_{H.R.}$ and leads us to $η$ slightly shifted from $1/4.$
We try to find a possible origin of the holographic principle in the Lorentz-covariant Yang's quantized space-time algebra (YSTA). YSTA, which is intrinsically equipped with short- and long-scale parameters, $λ$ and $R$, gives a finite number of spatial degrees of freedom for any bounded spatial region, providing a basis for divergence-free quantum field theory. Furthermore, it gives a definite kinematical reduction of spatial degrees of freedom, compared with the ordinary lattice space. On account of the latter fact, we find a certain kind of kinematical holographic relation in YSTA, which ma…
In the preceding paper, we derived a kind of kinematical holographic relation (KHR) in the Lorentz-covariant Yang's quantized space-time algebra (YSTA). It essentially reflects the fundamental nature of the noncommutative geometry of YSTA and its representation, that is, a definite kinematical reduction of spatial degrees of freedom in comparison with the ordinary lattice space. On the basis of the relation and its extension to various spatial dimensions, we derive a new area-entropy relation in a simple $D_0$ brane gas system subject to YSTA, following the idea of M-theory. Furthermore, we ma…
In this paper we derive holographic wave equations for hadrons with arbitrary spin starting from an effective action in a higher-dimensional space asymptotic to anti-de Sitter (AdS) space. Our procedure takes advantage of the local tangent frame, and it applies to all spins, including half-integer spins. An essential element is the mapping of the higher-dimensional equations of motion to the light-front Hamiltonian, thus allowing a clear distinction between the kinematical and dynamical aspects of the holographic approach to hadron physics. Accordingly, the non-trivial geometry of pure AdS spa…
The present-day significance of Yang's quantized space-time algebra (YST) is pointed out from the holographic viewpoint. One finds that the D-dimensional YST and its modified version (MYST) have the background symmetry SO(D+1,1) and SO(D,2), which are well known to underlie the dS/CFT and AdS/CFT correspondences, respectively. This fact suggests a new possibility of dS/YST and AdS/MYST in parallel with dS/CFT and AdS/CFT, respectively. The spatial components of quantized space-time and momentum operators of YST have discrete eigenvalues and their respective minimums, $a$ and 1/R, without contr…
Recent attempts to calculate the black-hole entropy in loop quantum gravity are demonstrated to be erroneous. The correct solution of the problem is pointed out.
An equidistant spectrum of the horizon area of a quantized black hole does not follow from the correspondence principle or from general statistical arguments. Such a spectrum obtained earlier in loop quantum gravity (LQG) does not comply with the holographic bound. This bound fixes the Barbero-Immirzi parameter of LQG, and thus leads to the unique result for the spectrum of horizon area.

An equidistant spectrum of the horizon area of a quantized black hole does not follow from the correspondence principle or from general statistical arguments. On the other hand, such a spectrum obtained in loop quantum gravity (LQG) either does not comply with the holographic bound, or demands a special choice of the Barbero-Immirzi parameter for the horizon surface, distinct from its value for other quantized surfaces. The problem of distinguishability of edges in LQG is discussed, with the following conclusion. Only under the assumption of partial distinguishability of the edges, the microca…
We emphasized the importance of underlying noncommutative geometry or Lorenz-covariant quantized space-time towards ultimate theory of quantum gravity and Planck scale physics. We focused there our attention on the statistical and substantial understanding of Bekenstein-Hawking's Area-Entropy Law of black holes in terms of Kinematical Holographic Relation (KHR). KHR manifestly holds in Yang's quantized space-time as the result of kinematical reduction of spatial degrees of freedom caused by its own nature of noncommutative geometry and plays an important role in our approach without any recour…

In confrontation with serious and fundamental problems towards ultimate theory of quantum gravity and physics of Planck scale, we emphasize the importance of underlying noncommutative space-time such as Snyder's or Yang's Lorentz-covariant quantized space-time. The background of Bekenstein-Hawking's Area-entropy law and Holographic principle is now substantially understood in terms of {\it Kinematical} Holographic Relation [KHR], which holds in Yang's quantized space-time as the result of the kinematical reduction of spatial degrees of freedom caused by its own nature of noncommutative geometr…
A simple derivation of the bound on entropy is given and the holographic principle is discussed. We estimate the number of quantum states inside space region on the base of uncertainty relation. The result is compared with the Bekenstein formula for entropy bound, which was initially derived from the generalized second law of thermodynamics for black holes. The holographic principle states that the entropy inside a region is bounded by the area of the boundary of that region. This principle can be called the kinematical holographic principle. We argue that it can be derived from the dynamical …
We show, following a previous quantization of a vacuum spherically symmetric spacetime carried out in Ref. \cite{gop}, that this setting admits a Schrödinger-like picture. More precisely, the technique adopted there for the definition of parametrized Dirac observables (that codify local information of the quantum theory) can be extended in order to accommodate different pictures. In this new picture, the quantum states are parametrized in terms of suitable gauge parameters and the observables constructed out of the kinematical ones on this space of parametrized states.
The D3-probe-D7 brane system, oriented so as to have 2+1-dimensional Poincare symmetry, is argued to be the holographic representation of a strongly correlated fractional topological insulator which exhibits a zero-field quantized Hall effect with half-units of Hall conductivity. The phase diagram of the system with charge density and external magnetic field is found and, as well as charge gapped quantum Hall states, it exhibits metallic and semi-metallic phases with interesting behaviours. The relationship of this to other models of fractional topological insulators is discussed.
We consider the effect of including a non-minimal coupling between a $U(1)$ vector gauge field and the graviton Regge trajectory in holographic QCD models. This coupling describes the QCD interaction between the quark bilinear electromagnetic current and the Pomeron. We test this new coupling against DIS data at low Bjorken $x$ and obtain an excellent fit with a chi squared of 1.1 over a very large kinematical range in the photon virtuality $Q^2<400 \ {\rm GeV}^2$ and for $x<10^{-2}$. The scale of the new dimension full coupling, which arises from integrating higher spin fields, is of order $6…
In this paper, we study $(2+1)$-dimensional quantum anomalous Hall states, i.e. band insulators with quantized Hall conductance, using the exact holographic mapping. The exact holographic mapping is an approach to holographic duality which maps the quantum anomalous Hall state to a different state living in $(3+1)$-dimensional hyperbolic space. By studying topological response properties and the entanglement spectrum, we demonstrate that the holographic dual theory of a quantum anomalous Hall state is a $(3+1)$-dimensional topological insulator. The dual description enables a new characterizat…
We show that there exists a precise kinematical notion of holography for the Euclidean warped $AdS_3$ black hole. This follows from the fact that the Euclidean warped $AdS_3$ black hole spacetime is a geometrically finite hyperbolic manifold. For such manifolds a theorem of Sullivan provides a one-to-one correspondence between the hyperbolic structure in the bulk and the conformal structure of its boundary. Using this theorem we obtain the holographic quasinormal modes for the warped $AdS_3$ black hole.
We present a top-down string theory holographic model of strongly interacting relativistic 2+1-dimensional fermions, paying careful attention to the discrete symmetries of parity and time reversal invariance. Our construction is based on probe $D7$-branes in $AdS_5 \times S^5$, stabilized by internal fluxes. We find three solutions, a parity and time reversal invariant conformal field theory which can be viewed as a particular deformation of Coulomb interacting graphene, a parity and time reversal violating but gapless field theory and a system with a parity and time reversal violating charge …
We describe how to introduce dynamics for the holographic states and codes introduced by Pastawski, Yoshida, Harlow and Preskill. This task requires the definition of a continuous limit of the kinematical Hilbert space which we argue may be achieved via the semicontinuous limit of Jones. Dynamics is then introduced by building a unitary representation of a group known as Thompson's group T, which is closely related to the conformal group in 1+1 dimensions. The bulk Hilbert space is realised as a special subspace of the semicontinuous limit Hilbert space spanned by a class of distinguished stat…
Under quite natural general assumptions, the following results are obtained. The maximum entropy of a quantized surface is demonstrated to be proportional to the surface area in the classical limit. The general structure of the horizon spectrum is found. The discrete spectrum of thermal radiation of a black hole Under quite natural general assumptions, the following results are obtained. The maximum entropy of a quantized surface is demonstrated to be proportional to the surface area in the classical limit. The general structure of the horizon spectrum is found. At a finite temperature, the stable equilibrium states of a coupled two-component superfluid with the same mass in both non-rotating and rotating cases can be obtained by studying its real time dynamics via holography, the equilibrium state is the final stable state that does not change in time anymore in the evolution process . Without rotation, the spatial phase separated states of the two components become more stable than the miscible condensates state when the direct repulsive inter-component coupling constant $η>η_c=0.05$ when the Josephson coupling $ε$ is turned off. While a finite $ε$ …
A detailed numerical study of a recent proposal for exotic states of the D3-probe D5 brane system with charge density and an external magnetic field is presented. The state has a large number of coincident D5 branes blowing up to a D7 brane in the presence of the worldvolume electric and magnetic fields which are necessary to construct the holographic state. Numerical solutions have shown that these states can compete with the the previously known chiral symmetry breaking and maximally symmetric phases of the D3-D5 system. Moreover, at integer filling fractions, they are incompressible with in…
A 4-dimensional Lorentzian static space-time is equivalent to 3-dimensional Euclidean gravity coupled to a massless Klein-field. By canonically quantizing the coupling model in the framework of loop quantum gravity, we obtain a quantum theory which actually describes quantized static space-times. The Kinematical Hilbert space is the product of the Hilbert space of gravity with that of imaginary scalar fields. It turns out that the Hamiltonian constraint of the 2+1 model corresponds to a densely defined operator in the underlying Hilbert space, and hence it is finite without renormalization. As…
Black holes in noncommutative geometry background are considered to be quantized in accordance with the holographic principle. Incomplete gamma function involving the effective black hole mass is replaced by a discrete sum. The mass spectrum as well as the temperature of black holes is presented. The spectra are discrete ones but the shapes are very consistent with the known continuous results.
We find a new holographic description of strongly coupled defect field theories using probe D5 branes. We consider a system where a large number of probe branes, which are asymptotically D5 branes, blow up into a D7 brane suspended in the bulk of anti-de Sitter space. For a particular ratio of charge density to external magnetic field, so that the Landau level filling fraction per color is equal to one, the D7 brane exhibits an incompressible charge-gapped state with one unit of integer quantized Hall conductivity. The detailed configuration as well as ungapped, compressible configurations for…
Though loop quantization of several spacetimes has exhibited existence of a bounce via an explicit evolution of states using numerical simulations, the question about the way central singularity is resolved in the black hole interior has remained open. The quantum Hamiltonian constraint in loop quantization turns out to be a finite difference equation whose stability is important to understand to gain insights on the viability of the underlying quantization and resulting physical implications. We take first steps towards addressing these issues for a loop quantization of the Schwarzschild inte…
We start with the Hamiltonian formulation of the first order action of pure gravity with a full $\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb C)$ internal gauge symmetry. We make a partial gauge-fixing which reduces $\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb C)$ to its sub-algebra $\mathfrak{su}(1,1)$. This case corresponds to a splitting of the space-time ${\cal M}=Σ\times \mathbb R$ where $Σ$ inherits an arbitrary Lorentzian metric of signature $(-,+,+)$. Then, we find a parametrization of the phase space in terms of an $\mathfrak{su}(1,1)$ commutative connection and its associated conjugate electric field. Following the techniqu…
In this talk we entertain the possibility that the synthesis of general covariance and quantum mechanics requires an extension of the basic kinematical setup of quantum mechanics. According to the holographic principle, regions of spacetime bounded by a finite area carry finite entropy. When we in addition assume that the origin of the entropy is a finite dimensional Hilbert space, and apply this to cosmological solutions using a suitable notion of complementarity, we find as a consequence that gravitational effects can lead to dynamical variation in the dimensionality of such Hilbert spaces. …
We present analyses on nucleon structure functions at the small Bjorken-$x$ in the framework of holographic QCD. In this study, we improve the description of the target nucleon in the current setup of the holographic model by introducing a soft-wall AdS/QCD model, in which the AdS geometry is smoothly cut off at IR. Combining the improved Pomeron-nucleon coupling and the wave function of the 5D U(1) vector field with the BPST Pomeron exchange kernel, then we obtain the structure functions. Here we focus on the nonperturbative kinematical region, where $10^{-6} \leq x \leq 10^{-2}$ and $0.1 \le…
The holographic mapping of gravity in AdS space to QCD, quantized at fixed light-front time, provides a precise relation between the bound-state amplitudes in the fifth dimension of AdS space and the boost-invariant light-front wavefunctions describing the internal structure of hadrons in physical space-time. In particular, the elastic and transition form factors of the pion and the nucleons are well described in this framework. The light-front AdS/QCD holographic approach thus gives a frame-independent first approximation of the color-confining dynamics, spectroscopy, and excitation spectra o…
A remarkable holographic feature of dynamics in AdS space in five dimensions is that it is dual to Hamiltonian theory in physical space-time, quantized at fixed light-front time τ = t+z/c. This light-front holographic principle provides a precise relation between the bound-state amplitudes in AdS space and the boost-invariant light-front wavefunctions describing the internal structure of hadrons in physical space-time. The fifth dimension coordinate z is dual to the light front variable ζ describing the invariant separation of the quark constituents. The resulting valence Fock-state wavefuncti…
We use D-instantons to probe the geometry of Misner universe, and calculate the world volume field theory action, which is of the 1+0 dimensional form and highly non-local. Turning on closed string tachyons, we see from the deformed moduli space of the D-instantons that the spacelike singularity is removed and the region near the singularity becomes a fuzzy cone, where space and time do not commute. When realized cosmologically there can be controllable trans-planckian effects. And the infinite past is now causally connected with the infinite future, thus also providing a model for big crunch/…
Formation and evolution of topological defects in course of non-equilibrium symmetry breaking phase transitions is of wide interest in many areas of physics, from cosmology through condensed matter to low temperature physics. Its study in strongly coupled systems, in absence of quasiparticles, is especially challenging. We investigate breaking of U(1) symmetry and the resulting spontaneous formation of vortices in a $(2+1)$-dimensional holographic superconductor employing gauge/gravity duality, a `first-principles' approach to study strongly coupled systems. Magnetic fluxons with quantized flu…
We give an overview of the light-front holographic approach to strongly coupled QCD, whereby a confining gauge theory, quantized on the light front, is mapped to a higher-dimensional anti de Sitter (AdS) space. The framework is guided by the AdS/CFT correspondence incorporating a gravitational background asymptotic to AdS space which encodes the salient properties of QCD, such as the ultraviolet conformal limit at the AdS boundary at $z \to 0$, as well as modifications of the geometry in the large $z$ infrared region to describe confinement and linear Regge behavior. There are two equivalent p…
In this work we describe a black hole, set on a non-commutative background. The model, which is relatively simple, is an exact solution of the Einstein Field Equations. Based on a proposition we put forward, we argue that introducing a matter density field on a non-commutative background sets up a mechanism that deforms the field into two distinct fields, one residing dominantly on the lattice tops (hereafter, on-cell) and the other residing dominantly in the inter-lattice regions (hereafter, off-cell). The two fields have different physical and themodynamic characterics which we describe, and…
We investigate the possibility of using quasi-normal modes (QNMs) to probe the microscopic structure of two-dimensional (2D) anti-de Sitter (AdS$_2$) dilatonic black holes. We first extend previous results on the QNMs spectrum, found for external massless scalar perturbations, to the case of massive scalar perturbations. We find that the quasi-normal frequencies are purely imaginary and scale linearly with the overtone number. Motivated by this and extending previous results regarding Schwarzschild black holes, we propose a microscopic description of the 2D black hole in terms of a coherent st…
Non-relativistic field theories with anisotropic scale invariance in (1+1)-d are typically characterized by a dispersion relation $E\sim k^{z}$ and dynamical exponent $z>1$. The asymptotic growth of the number of states of these theories can be described by an extension of Cardy formula that depends on $z$. We show that this result can be recovered by counting the partitions of an integer into $z$-th powers, as proposed by Hardy and Ramanujan a century ago. This gives a novel relationship between the characteristic energy of the dispersion relation with the cylinder radius and the ground state…
