We consider two versions of random gradient models. In model A the interface feels a bulk term of random fields while in model B the disorder enters through the potential acting on the gradients. It is well known that for gradient models without disorder there are no Gibbs measures in infinite-volume in dimension d=2, while there are "gradient Gibbs measures" describing an infinite-volume distribution for the gradients of the field, as was shown by Funaki and Spohn. Van Enter and Külske proved that adding a disorder term as in model A prohibits the existence of such gradient Gibbs measures for general interaction potentials in $d=2$. In the present paper we prove the existence of shift-covariant gradient Gibbs measures with a given tilt $u\in \mathbb{R}^d$ for model A when $d\geq3$ and the disorder has mean zero, and for model B when $d\geq1$. When the disorder has nonzero mean in model A, there are no shift-covariant gradient Gibbs measures for $d\ge3$. We also prove similar results of existence/nonexistence of the surface tension for the two models and give the characteristic properties of the respective surface tensions.
In this paper we study random optimization problems where random functions are investigated in sample paths. Some sufficient conditions ensuring the existence of random solutions to random optimization problems are proposed.
We consider in this work small random perturbations (of multiplicative noise type) of the gradient flow. We prove that under mild conditions, when the potential function is a Morse function with additional strong saddle condition, the perturbed gradient flow converges to the neighborhood of local minimizers in $O(\ln (\varepsilon^{-1}))$ time on the average, where $\varepsilon$ is the scale of the random perturbation. Under a change of time scale, this indicates that for the diffusion process that approximates the stochastic gradient method, it takes (up to logarithmic factor) only a linear ti…
In this paper we study the existence phase transition of the random fractal ball model and the random fractal box model. We show that both of these are in the empty phase at the critical point of this phase transition.
In this work, we discuss the large time behavior of the solutions of the two dimensional stochastic convective Brinkman-Forchheimer (SCBF) equations in bounded domains. Under the functional setting $\V\hookrightarrow\H\hookrightarrow\V'$, where $\H$ and $\V$ are appropriate separable Hilbert spaces and the embedding $\V\hookrightarrow\H$ is compact, we establish the existence of random attractors in $\H$ for the stochastic flow generated by the 2D SCBF equations perturbed by small additive noise. We prove the upper semicontinuity of the random attractors for the 2D SCBF equations in $\H$, when…
Stochastic Hall-magnetohydrodynamics equations on ${\mathbb{R}}^{3}$ with random forces expressed in terms of the time homogeneous Poisson random measures are considered. We prove the existence of a global martingale solution. The construction of a solution is based on the Fourier truncation method, stochastic compactness method and a version of the Skorokhod theorem for non-metric spaces adequate for Poisson type random fields.
We study existence and uniqueness of distributional solutions to the stochastic partial differential equation $dX - ( νΔX + Δψ(X) ) dt = \sum_{i=1}^N \langle b_i, \nabla X \rangle \circ dβ_i$ in $]0,T[ \times \mathcal{O}$, with $X(0) = x(ξ)$ in $\mathcal{O}$ and $X = 0$ on $]0,T[ \times \partial \mathcal{O}$. Moreover, we prove extinction in finite time of the solutions in the special case of fast diffusion model and of self-organized criticality model.
We study asymptotic limits of reversible random walks on tessellations via a variational approach, which relies on a specific generalized-gradient-flow formulation of the corresponding forward Kolmogorov equation. We establish sufficient conditions on sequences of tessellations and jump intensities under which a sequence of random walks converges to a diffusion process with a possibly spatially-dependent diffusion tensor.
In this work we study the time complexity for the search of local minima in random graphs whose vertices have i.i.d. cost values. We show that, for Erdös-Rényi graphs with connection probability given by $λ/n^α$ (with $λ> 0$ and $0 < α< 1$), a family of local algorithms that approximate a gradient descent find local minima faster than the full gradient descent. Furthermore, we find a probabilistic representation for the running time of these algorithms leading to asymptotic estimates of the mean running times.

We prove that the stochastic Burgers equation on $\mathbf{R}^{d}$, $d<4$, forced by gradient noise that is white in time and smooth in space, admits spacetime-stationary solutions. These solutions are thus the gradients of solutions to the KPZ equation on $\mathbf{R}^{d}$ with stationary gradients. The proof works by proving tightness of the time-averaged laws of the solutions in an appropriate weighted space.
We study random surfaces with a uniformly convex gradient interaction in the presence of quenched disorder taking the form of a random independent external field. Previous work on the model has focused on proving existence and uniqueness of infinite-volume gradient Gibbs measures with a given tilt and on studying the fluctuations of the surface and its discrete gradient. In this work we focus on the convergence of the thermodynamic limit, establishing convergence of the finite-volume distributions with Dirichlet boundary conditions to translation-covariant (gradient) Gibbs measures.
