We show that for a Banach algebra $A$ with a bounded approximate identity, the amenability of the projective tensor product of A with A, the amenability of the projective tensor product of A with A^{op}and the amenability of A are equivalent. Also if A is a closed ideal in a commutative Banach algebra B, then the weak amenability of the projective tensor product of A and B implies the weak amenability of A.

In this paper we find some necessary and sufficient conditions for a Banach algebra to be amenable or weakly amenable, by applying the homomorphisms on Banach algebras.

We survey the recent investigations on (bounded, sequential) approximate amenability/contractibility and pseudo-amenability/contractibility for Banach algebras. We will discuss the core problems concerning these notions and address the significance of any solutions to them to the development of the field. A few new results are also included.
In this paper we introduce a new notion of strong pseudo-amenability for Banach algebras. We study strong pseudo-amenability of some Matrix algebras. Using this tool, we characterize strong pseudo-amenability of $\ell^{1}(S)$, provided that $S$ is a uniformly locally finite semigroup. As an application we show that for a Brandt semigroup $S=M^{0}(G,I)$, $\ell^{1}(S)$ is strong pseudo-amenable if and only if $G$ is amenable and $I$ is finite. We give some examples to show the differences of strong pseudo-amenability and other classical notions of amenability.
For two Banach algebras $A$ and $B$, the $T$-Lau product $A\times_T B$, was recently introduced and studied for some bounded homomorphism $T:B\to A$ with $\|T\|\leq 1$. In recent work of the authors the notion of a derivation being approximately semi-inner arose as a tool for investigating (approximate) amenability questions for Banach algebras. Here we investigate this property in its own right, together with the consequent one of approximately semi-amenability. Under certain hypotheses regarding approximate identities this new notion is the same as approximate amenability, but more generally it covers some important classes of algebras which are not approximately amenable, in particular Segal algebras on amenable SIN-groups.

Given Banach algebras $ A $ and $ B $ with $ θ\inΔ(B) $. We shall study the Johnson pseudo-contractibility and pseudo-amenability of $ θ$-Lau product $ A\times_θ B $. We show that if $ A\times_θ B $ is Johnson pseudo-contractible, then $ A $ is Johnson pseudo-contractible and has a bounded approximate identity and $ B $ is Johnson pseudo-contractible. In some particular cases complete characterization of Johnson pseudo-contractibility of $ A\times_θ B $ are given. In this paper we study the Connes amenability of the second dual of Arens regular Banach algebras. Of course we provide a partial answer to the question posed by Volker Runde. We introduce the notions of approximate Connes-amenability and approximate strong Connes-amenability for dual Banach algebras. Then we characterize these two types of algebras in terms of approximate normal virtual diagonals and approximate $σWC-$virtual diagonals. We investigate these properties for von Neumann algebras and measure algebras of locally compact groups. In this paper, we introduce and investigate the concepts of cyclically weakly amenable and point amenable. Then, we compare these concepts with the concepts of weakly amenable and cyclically amenable and find the relation between them. For example, we prove that a Banach algebra is weakly amenable if and only if it is both cyclically amenable and cyclically weakly amenable. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for amenability of the Banach algebra of approximable operators on a Banach space. We further investigate the relationship between amenability of this algebra and factorization of operators, strengthening known results and developing new techniques to determine whether or not a given Banach space carries an amenable algebra of approximable operators. Using these techniques, we are able to show, among other things, the non-amenability of the algebra of approximable operators on Tsirelson's space.
In this paper we study conditions on a Banach space X that ensure that the Banach algebra K(X) of compact operators is amenable. We give a symmetrized approximation property of X which is proved to be such a condition. This property is satisfied by a wide range of Banach spaces including all the classical spaces. In this paper, we introduce a new notion of amenability, $σ-$Connes ideal, say, for a large class of dual Banach algebras. We extend the concept of ideal Connes amenability and study their properties. Let $σ$ be a $weak^{*}$-continuous endomorphism on a dual Banach algebra $\mathcal{A}$ with dense range. Then the concept of ideal Connes-amenability and $σ-$ ideally Connes amenability are the same. We continue the investigation of notions of approximate amenability that were introduced in work of the second and third authors. It is shown that every boundedly approximately contractible Banach algebra has a bounded approximate identity. Among our other results, it is shown that the Fourier algebra of the free group on two generators is not approximately amenable. Let T be a homomorphism from a Banach algebra B to a Banach algebra A.The Cartesian product space A * B with T-Lau multiplication and l^1-norm becomes a new Banach algebra A *_T B. We investigate the notions such as approximate amenability, pseudo amenability, phi-pseudo amenability,phi-biflatness and phi-biprojectivity for Banach algebra A *_T B. We also present an example to show that approximate amenability of A and B is not stable for A *_T B. Extending M.\ Daws' definition of ultra-amenable Banach algebras, we introduce the notion of operator ultra-amenability for completely contractive Banach algebras. For a locally compact group $G$, we show that the operator ultra-amenability of $A(G)$ imposes severe restrictions on $G$. In particular, it forces $G$ to be a discrete, amenable group with no infinite abelian subgroups. For various classes of such groups, this means that $G$ is finite.
We show that the tensor product of approximately amenable algebras need not be approximately amenable, and investigate conditions under which $A$ and $B$ being approximately amenable implies, or is implied by, $A\hat{\otimes}B$ or $A^{\#}\hat{\otimes} B^{\#}$ being approximately amenable. Let $S$ be an inverse semigroup with an upward directed set of idempotents $E$. In this paper we define the module topological center of second dual of a Banach algebra which is a Banach module over another Banach algebra with compatible actions, and find it for $ \ell ^{1}(S)^{**}$ (as an $\ell^{1}(E)$-module). We also prove that $ \ell ^{1}(S)^{**}$ is $\ell^{1}(E)$-module amenable if and only if an appropriate group homomorphic image of $S$ is finite.
If $D:A \to X$ is a derivation from a Banach algebra to a contractive, Banach $A$-bimodule, then one can equip $X^{**}$ with an $A^{**}$-bimodule structure, such that the second transpose $D^{**}: A^{**} \to X^{**}$ is again a derivation. We extend the concept of amenability of a Banach algebra $A$ to the case that there is an extra $\mathfrak A$-module structure on $A$, and show that when $S$ is an inverse semigroup with subsemigroup $E$ of idempotents, then $A=\ell^1(S)$ as a Banach module over $\mathfrak A=\ell^1(E)$ is module amenable iff $S$ is amenable. When $S$ is a discrete group, $\ell^1(E)=\mathbb C$ and this is just the celebrated Johnson's theorem.
