In this paper, we establish lower and upper Gaussian bounds for the probability density of the mild solution to the stochastic heat equation with multiplicative noise and in any space dimension. The driving perturbation is a Gaussian noise which is white in time with some spatially homogeneous covariance. These estimates are obtained using tools of the Malliavin calculus. The most challenging part is the lower bound, which is obtained by adapting a general method developed by Kohatsu-Higa to the underlying spatially homogeneous Gaussian setting. Both lower and upper estimates have the same form: a Gaussian density with a variance which is equal to that of the mild solution of the corresponding linear equation with additive noise.
The objective of the paper is to characterize the Gaussian free field as a stationary solution of the heat equation with additive space-time white noise. In the case of whole space, the investigation leads to other types of Gaussian fields, as well as interesting phenomena in dimensions one and two.
These notes focus on the applications of the stochastic Taylor expansion of solutions of stochastic differential equations to the study of heat kernels in small times. As an illustration of these methods we provide a new heat kernel proof of the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet theorem.
We prove that in dimension $d\le 3$ a modified density field of a stirring dynamics perturbed by a voter model converges to the stochastic heat equation.
We study stochastic heat equations in the sense of Walsh defined by fractal Laplacians on Cantor-like sets. For this purpose, we first investigate the corresponding heat kernels. Then, we prove existence and uniqueness of mild solutions to stochastic heat equations provided some Lipschitz and linear growth conditions. We establish Hölder continuity in space and time and compute the Hölder exponents. Moreover, we address the question of weak intermittency.
The aim of this short note is to obtain the existence, uniqueness and moment upper bounds of the solution to a stochastic heat equation with measure initial data, without using the iteration method in Chen and Dalang(2015), Chen and Kim(2016).
A stochastic heat equation on an unbounded nested fractal driven by a general stochastic measure is investigated. Existence, uniqueness and continuity of the mild solution are proved provided that the spectral dimension of the fractal is less than 4/3.
We introduce and study a new class of non-Archimedean stochastic pseudodifferential equations. These equations are the non-Archimedean counterparts of the classical stochastic heat equations. We show the existence and uniqueness of mild random field solutions for these equations.
In this paper we prove the convergence of the eigenvalues of a random matrix that approximates a random Schrödinger operator. Originally, such random operator arises from a stochastic heat equation. The proof uses a detailed topological analysis of certain spaces of functions where the operators act.
In this paper, we investigate a class of hybrid stochastic heat equations. By explicit formulae of solutions, we not only reveal the sample Lyapunov exponents but also discuss the $p$th moment Lyapnov exponents. Moreover, several examples are established to demonstrate that unstable (deterministic or stochastic) dynamical systems can be stabilized by Markovian switching.
We study the solutions of the stochastic heat equation with multiplicative space-time white noise. We prove a comparison theorem between the solutions of stochastic heat equations with the same noise coefficient which is Hölder continuous of index $γ>3/4$, and drift coefficients that are Lipschitz continuous. Later we use the comparison theorem to get sufficient conditions for the pathwise uniqueness for solutions of the stochastic heat equation, when both the white noise and the drift coefficients are Hölder continuous.
In this paper, we establish the well-posedness of stochastic heat equations on moving domains, which amounts to a study of infinite dimensional interacting systems. The main difficulty is to deal with the problems caused by the time-varying state spaces and the interaction of the particle systems. The interaction still occurs even in the case of additive noise. This is in contrast to stochastic heat equations in a fixed domain.
We study the one-dimensional stochastic heat equation in the mild form driven by a general stochastic measure $μ$, for $μ$ we assume only $σ$-additivity in probability. The time averaging of the equation is considered, uniform a. s. convergence to the solution of the averaged equation is obtained.
In this paper we address again the problem of the connection between multitime Brownian sheet and heat type PDEs. The main results include: the volumetric character of the solutions of the forward (backward) diffusion-like PDEs; the forward mean value of a Brownian process as the solution of the forward heat PDE; the backward mean value of a Brownian process as the solution of the backward heat PDE; the multitime stochastic processes with volumetric dependence; the stochastic partial derivative of a stochastic process with respect to a multitime Wiener process; Hermite polynomials stochastic p…
In this paper, we establish a large deviation principle for the solutions to the stochastic heat equations with logarithmic nonlinearity driven by Brownian motion, which is neither locally Lipschitz nor locally monotone. Nonlinear versions of Gronwall's inequalities and Log-Sobolev inequalities play an important role.
This paper studies the stochastic heat equation driven by time fractional Gaussian noise with Hurst parameter $H\in(0,1/2)$. We establish the Feynman-Kac representation of the solution and use this representation to obtain matching lower and upper bounds for the $L^p(Ω)$ moments of the solution.
In this paper, we derive explicit sharp two-sided estimates for the Dirichlet heat kernels, in C^{1,1} open sets D in R^d, of a large class of subordinate Brownian motions with Gaussian components. When D is bounded, our sharp two-sided Dirichlet heat kernel estimates hold for all t>0. Integrating the heat kernel estimates with respect to the time variable t, we obtain sharp two-sided estimates for the Green functions, in bounded C^{1,1} open sets, of such subordinate Brownian motions with Gaussian components.
We study the law of the solution to the stochastic heat equation with additive Gaussian noise which behaves as the fractional Brownian motion in time and is white in space. We prove a decomposition of the solution in terms of the bifractional Brownian motion.
Our goal in this paper is to solve the 1-D heat equation by an hybrid deterministic-stochastic iterative procedure . The deterministic side consists in discretizing the equation by the Crank-Nicolson method and the stochastic side consists of applying Robbins Monro procedure to solve the resulting matrix system. The almost complete convergence and the rate of convergence of our procedure are established.
We introduce a fractional stochastic heat equation with second order elliptic operator in divergence form, having a piecewise constant diffusion coefficient, and driven by an infinite-dimensional fractional Brownian motion. We characterize the fundamental solution of its deterministic part, and prove the existence and the uniqueness of its solution.
In this paper, we establish the existence and uniqueness of solutions to stochastic heat equations with logarithmic nonlinearity driven by Brownian motion on a bounded domain $D$ in the setting of $L^2(D)$ space. The result is valid for all initial values in $L^2(D)$. The logarithmic Sobolev inequality plays an important role.
We prove the existence of density for the solution to the multiplicative semilinear stochastic heat equation on an unbounded spatial domain, with drift term satisfying a half-Lipschitz type condition. The methodology is based on a careful analysis of differentiability for a map defined on weighted functional spaces.
In this work, we introduce a new discretization to the fractional Laplacian and use it to elaborate an approximation scheme for fractional heat equations perturbed by a multiplicative cylindrical white noise. In particular, we estimate the rate of convergence.
We study stochastic reaction--diffusion equation $$ \partial_tu_t(x)=\frac12 \partial^2_{xx}u_t(x)+b(u_t(x))+\dot{W}_{t}(x), \quad t>0,\, x\in D $$ where $b$ is a generalized function in the Besov space $\mathcal{B}^β_{q,\infty}({\mathbb R})$, $D\subset{\mathbb R}$ and $\dot W$ is a space-time white noise on ${\mathbb R}_+\times D$. We introduce a notion of a solution to this equation and obtain existence and uniqueness of a strong solution whenever $β-1/q\ge-1$, $β>-1$ and $q\in[1,\infty]$. This class includes equations with $b$ being measures, in particular, $b=δ_0$ which corresponds to the …
In this note we consider stochastic heat equation with general additive Gaussian noise. Our aim is to derive some necessary and sufficient conditions on the Gaussian noise in order to solve the corresponding heat equation. We investigate this problem invoking two different methods, respectively based on variance computations and on path-wise considerations in Besov spaces. We are going to see that, as anticipated, both approaches lead to the same necessary and sufficient condition on the noise. In addition, the path-wise approach brings out regularity results for the solution.
We approximate the white-noise driven stochastic heat equation by replacing the fractional Laplacian by the generator of a discrete time random walk on the one dimensional lattice, and approximating white noise by a collection of i.i.d. mean zero random variables. As a consequence, we give an alternative proof of the weak convergence of the scaled partition function of directed polymers in the intermediate disorder regime, to the stochastic heat equation; an advantage of the proof is that it gives the convergence of all moments.
We consider one-dimensional stochastic heat equation with nonlinear drift, $\displaystyle \partial_t u=\frac{1}{2}Δu+b(u)u+σ(u)\dot{W}(t,x)$, where $b:\mathbb{R}_{+}\to \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous function and $σ:\mathbb{R}_{+}\to \mathbb{R}$ is a continuous function with suitable property. We will construct nonnegative solutions to such SPDEs.
We prove pathwise uniqueness for solutions of parabolic stochastic pde's with multiplicative white noise if the coefficient is Hölder continuous of index $γ>3/4$. The method of proof is an infinite-dimensional version of the Yamada-Watanabe argument for ordinary stochastic differential equations.
We consider the one-dimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a multiplicative space-time white noise. We show that the spatial integral of the solution from $-R$ to $R$ converges in total variance distance to a standard normal distribution as $R$ tends to infinity, after renormalization. We also show a functional version of this central limit theorem.
In this paper, we obtain upper and lower bounds for the moments of the solution to a class of fractional stochastic heat equations on the ball driven by a Gaussian noise which is white in time, and with a spatial correlation in space of Riesz kernel type. We also consider the space-time white noise case on an interval.
We show that a large class of stochastic heat equations can be approximated by systems of interacting stochastic differential equations. As a consequence, we prove various comparison principles extending earlier results. Among other things, our results enable us to obtain sharp estimates on the moments of the solution. A main technical ingredient of our method is a local limit theorem which is of independent interest.
We study the random conductance model on $\mathbb{Z}^d$ with ergodic, unbounded conductances. We prove a Gaussian lower bound on the heat kernel given a polynomial moment condition and some additional assumptions on the correlations of the conductances. The proof is based on the well-established chaining technique. We also obtain bounds on the Green's function.
We show that solutions of the stochastic heat equation driven by space-time white noise, although not smooth, meaningfully solve the two-dimensional Toda equations. Then by extending our arguments we show the time evolution of the multilayer process introduced by O'Connell and Warren is conjugate to a flow induced by the stochastic heat equation. In particular this establishes a Markov property conjectured by O'Connell and Warren. It also defines, for the first time, the multilayer process started from a general initial condition.
We derive an Itô's-type formula for the one dimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a space-time white noise. The proof is based on elementary properties of the $\mathcal{S}$-transform and on the explicit representation of the solution process. We also discuss the relationship with other versions of this Itô's-type formula existing in literature.
In this paper, we establish a version of the Feynman-Kac formula for multidimensional stochastic heat equation driven by a general semimartingale. This Feynman-Kac formula is then applied to study some nonlinear stochastic heat equations driven by nonhomogenous Gaussian noise: First, it is obtained an explicit expression for the Malliavin derivatives of the solutions. Based on the representation we obtain the smooth property of the density of the law of the solution. On the other hand, we also obtain the Hölder continuity of the solutions.
We consider the stochastic heat equation on $[0,\,1]$ with periodic boundary conditions and driven by space-time white noise. Under various natural conditions, we study small ball probabilities for the Hölder semi-norms of the solutions, and provide near optimal bounds on these probabilities. As an application, we prove a support theorem in these Hölder semi-norms.
Fang-Wu\cite{FW17} presented a explicit spectral gap for the O-U process on path space over a Riemannian manifold without boundary under the bounded Ricci curvature conditions. In this paper, we will extend these results to the case of the Riemannian manifold with boundary. Moreover, we also derive the similar results for the stochastic heat process.
We describe sufficient conditions on the reaction terms and multiplicative noise terms of a stochastic reaction-diffusion equation that guarantee that the solutions never explode. Both the reaction term and multiplicative noise terms are allowed to grow superlinearly.
For a heat equation with memory driven by a Lévy-type noise we establish the existence of a unique solution. The main part of the article focuses on the Freidlin-Wentzell large deviation principle of the solutions of heat equation with memory driven by a Lévy-type noise. For this purpose, we exploit the recently introduced weak convergence approach.
In this paper, we obtain an explicit formula for the two-point correlation function for the solutions to the stochastic heat equation on $\mathbb{R}$. The bounds for $p$-th moments proved in [3] are simplified. We validate the Feynman-Kac formula for the $p$-point correlation function of the solutions to this equation with measure-valued initial data.
We consider the existence and pathwise uniqueness of the stochastic heat equation with a multiplicative colored noise term on IR^d for d greater or equal to 1. We focus on the case of non-Lipschitz noise coefficients and singular spatial noise correlations. In the course of the proof a new result on Hoelder continuity of the solutions near zero is established.
We give a new proof of the fact that the solutions of the stochastic heat equation, started with non-negative initial conditions, are strictly positive at positive times. The proof uses concentration of measure arguments for discrete directed polymers in Gaussian environments, originated in M. Talagrand's work on spin glasses and brought to directed polymers by Ph. Carmona and Y. Hu. We also get slightly improved bounds on the lower tail of the solutions of the stochastic heat equation started with a delta initial condition.
We prove the existence and uniqueness of the mild solution for a nonlinear stochastic heat equation defined on an unbounded spatial domain. The nonlinearity is not assumed to be globally, or even locally, Lipschitz continuous. Instead the nonlinearity is assumed to satisfy a one-sided Lipschitz condition. First, a strengthened version of the Kolmogorov continuity theorem is introduced to prove that the stochastic convolutions of the fundamental solution of the heat equation and a spatially homogeneous noise grow no faster than polynomially. Second, a deterministic mapping that maps the stochas…
We study the solution to a nonlinear stochastic heat equation in $d\geq 3$. The equation is driven by a Gaussian multiplicative noise that is white in time and smooth in space. For a small coupling constant, we prove (i) the solution converges to the stationary distribution in large time; (ii) the diffusive scale fluctuations are described by the Edwards-Wilkinson equation.
