We prove the existence and uniqueness of the mild solution for a nonlinear stochastic heat equation defined on an unbounded spatial domain. The nonlinearity is not assumed to be globally, or even locally, Lipschitz continuous. Instead the nonlinearity is assumed to satisfy a one-sided Lipschitz condition. First, a strengthened version of the Kolmogorov continuity theorem is introduced to prove that the stochastic convolutions of the fundamental solution of the heat equation and a spatially homogeneous noise grow no faster than polynomially. Second, a deterministic mapping that maps the stochastic convolution to the solution of the stochastic heat equation is proven to be Lipschitz continuous on polynomially weighted spaces of continuous functions. These two ingredients enable the formulation of a Picard iteration scheme to prove the existence and uniqueness of the mild solution.
We study Hamilton Jacobi Bellman equations in an infinite dimensional Hilbert space, with Lipschitz coefficients, where the Hamiltonian has superquadratic growth with respect to the derivative of the value function, and the final condition is not bounded. This allows to study stochastic optimal control problems for suitable controlled state equations with unbounded control processes. The results are applied to a controlled wave equation.
We prove a uniqueness result of the unbounded solution for a quadratic backward stochastic differential equation whose terminal condition is unbounded and whose generator $g$ may be non-Lipschitz continuous in the state variable $y$, non-convex (non-concave) in the state variable $z$, and instead satisfies a strictly quadratic condition and an additional assumption. The key observation is that if the generator is strictly quadratic, then the quadratic variation of the first component of the solution admits an exponential moment. Typically, a Lipschitz perturbation of some convex (concave) func…
We prove the existence of density for the solution to the multiplicative semilinear stochastic heat equation on an unbounded spatial domain, with drift term satisfying a half-Lipschitz type condition. The methodology is based on a careful analysis of differentiability for a map defined on weighted functional spaces.
Non-Gaussian concentration estimates are obtained for invariant probability measures of reversible Markov processes. We show that the functional inequalities approach combined with a suitable Lyapunov condition allows us to circumvent the classical Lipschitz assumption of the observables. Our method is general and covers diffusions as well as pure-jump Markov processes on unbounded spaces.
In [Stochastc Process. Appl., 122(9):3173-3208], the author proved the existence and the uniqueness of solutions to Markovian superquadratic BSDEs with an unbounded terminal condition when the generator and the terminal condition are locally Lipschitz. In this paper, we prove that the existence result remains true for these BSDEs when the regularity assumptions on the terminal condition is weakened.
We prove a modification to the classical maximal inequality for stochastic convolutions in 2-smooth Banach spaces using the factorization method. This permits to study semilinear stochastic partial differential equations with unbounded diffusion operators driven by cylindrical Brownian motion via the mild solution approach. In the case of finite dimensional driving noise, provided sufficient regularity on the coefficients, we establish existence and uniqueness of strong solutions.
In this paper we consider two classes of backward stochastic differential equations. Firstly, under a Lipschitz-type condition on the generator of the equation, which can also be unbounded, we give sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique solution pair. The method of proof is that of Picard iterations and the resulting conditions are new. We also prove a comparison theorem. Secondly, under the linear growth and continuity assumptions on the possibly unbounded generator, we prove the existence of the solution pair. This class of equations is more general than the existing ones.
Localized sufficient conditions for the large deviation principle of the given stochastic differential equations will be presented for stochastic differential equations with non-Lipschitzian and time-inhomogeneous coefficients, which is weaker than those relevant conditions existing in the literature. We consider at first the large deviation principle when $\int_0^t\sup_{x\in\mathbb{R}^d}||σ(s,x)||\vee|b(s,x)|ds=:C_t<\infty$ for any fixed $t$, then we generalize the conclusion to unbounded case by using bounded approximation program.
We prove existence, uniqueness and Lipschitz dependence on the initial datum for mild solutions of stochastic partial differential equations with Lipschitz coefficients driven by Wiener and Poisson noise. Under additional assumptions, we prove Gateaux and Frechet differentiability of solutions with respect to the initial datum. As an application, we obtain gradient estimates for the resolvent associated to the mild solution. Finally, we prove the strong Feller property of the associated semigroup.
We prove the existence and uniqueness of a mild solution for a class of non-autonomous parabolic mixed stochastic partial differential equations defined on a bounded open subset $D \subset \mathbb{R}^d$ and involving standard and fractional $L^2(D)$-valued Brownian motions. We assume that the coefficients are homogeneous, Lipschitz continuous and the coefficient at the fractional Brownian motion is an affine function.
In this paper we study a class of backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) of the form dY(t)= -AY(t)dt -f_0(t,Y(t))dt -f_1(t,Y(t),Z(t))dt + Z(t)dW(t) on the interval [0,T], with given final condition at time T, in an infinite dimensional Hilbert space H. The unbounded operator A is sectorial and dissipative and the nonlinearity f_0(t,y) is dissipative and defined for y only taking values in a subspace of H. A typical example is provided by the so-called polynomial nonlinearities. Applications are given to stochastic partial differential equations and spin systems.
We solve in mild sense Hamilton Jacobi Bellman equations, both in an infinite dimensional Hilbert space and in a Banach space, with lipschitz Hamiltonian and lipschitz continuous final condition, and asking only a weak regularizing property on the transition semigroup of the corresponding state equation. The results are applied to solve stochastic optimal control problems; the models we can treat include a controlled stochastic heat equation in space dimension one and with control and noise on a subdomain.
We prove a maximum principle for mild solutions to stochastic evolution equations with (locally) Lipschitz coefficients and Wiener noise on weighted $L^2$ spaces. As an application, we provide sufficient conditions for the positivity of forward rates in the Heath-Jarrow-Morton model, considering the associated Musiela SPDE on a homogeneous weighted Sobolev space.
We consider Hamilton Jacobi Bellman equations in an inifinite dimensional Hilbert space, with quadratic (respectively superquadratic) hamiltonian and with continuous (respectively lipschitz continuous) final conditions. This allows to study stochastic optimal control problems for suitable controlled Ornstein Uhlenbeck process with unbounded control processes.
This paper is interested in semilinear stochastic equations having unbounded nonlinear perturbations in the deterministic part and/or in the random part. Moreover, the linear part of these equations is governed by a not necessarily analytic semigroup. The main difficulty with these equations is how to define the concept of mild solutions due to the chosen type of unbounded perturbations. To overcome this problem, we first proved a regularity property of the stochastic convolution with respect to the domain of "admissible" unbounded linear operators (not necessarily closed or closable). This is…
This paper is dedicated to solving high-dimensional coupled FBSDEs with non-Lipschitz diffusion coefficients numerically. Under mild conditions, we provided a posterior estimate of the numerical solution that holds for any time duration. This posterior estimate validates the convergence of the recently proposed Deep BSDE method. In addition, we developed a numerical scheme based on the Deep BSDE method and presented numerical examples in financial markets to demonstrate the high performance.
We provide in this work a semigroup approach to the study of singular PDEs, in the line of the paracontrolled approach developed recently by Gubinelli, Imkeller and Perkowski. Starting from a heat semigroup, we develop a functional calculus and introduce a paraproduct based on the semigroup, for which commutator estimates and Schauder estimates are proved, together with their paracontrolled extensions. This machinery allows us to investigate singular PDEs in potentially unbounded Riemannian manifolds under mild geometric conditions. As an illustration, we study the generalized parabolic Anders…
The ergodic properties of the randomly forced Navier-Stokes system have been extensively studied in the literature during the last two decades. The problem has always been considered in bounded domains, in order to have, for example, suitable spectral properties for the Stokes operator, to ensure some compactness properties for the resolving operator of the system and the associated functional spaces, etc. In the present paper, we consider the Navier-Stokes system in an unbounded domain satisfying the Poincaré inequality. Assuming that the system is perturbed by a bounded non-degenerate noise,…
Given a real and separable Hilbert space H we consider the measure-valued equation \begin{equation*} \int_Hϕ(x)μ_t(dx)- \int_Hϕ(x)μ(dx)= \int_0^t(\int_HK_0ϕ(x)μ_s(dx))ds, \end{equation*} where K_0 is the Kolmogorov differential operator \[ K_0ϕ(x)=\frac12\textrm{Trace}\big[BB^*D^2ϕ(x)\big]+< x,A^*Dϕ(x)>+< Dϕ(x),F(x)>, \] $x\in H$, $ϕ:H\to \Rset$ is a suitable smooth function, $A:D(A)\subset H\to H $ is linear, $F:H\to H$ is a globally Lipschitz function and $B:H\to H$ is linear and continuous. In order prove existence and uniqueness of a solution for the above equation, we show that $K_0$ is a…
This paper deals with the spatial and temporal regularity of the unique Hilbert space valued mild solution to a semilinear stochastic partial differential equation with nonlinear terms that satisfy global Lipschitz conditions. It is shown that the mild solution has the same optimal regularity properties as the stochastic convolution. The proof is elementary and makes use of existing results on the regularity of the solution, in particular, the Hölder continuity with a non-optimal exponent.
We study the $L^{p}$-solutions for the semilinear heat equation with unbounded coefficients and driven by a infinite dimensional fractional Brownian motion with self-similarity parameter $H > 1/2$. Existence and uniqueness of local mild solutions are showed.
We obtain estimates on the first-order Malliavin derivative of mild solutions, evaluated at fixed points in time and space, to a class of parabolic dissipative stochastic PDEs on bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^d$. In particular, such equations are driven by multiplicative Wiener noise and the nonlinear drift term is the superposition operator associated to a locally Lipschitz continuous function satisfying suitable polynomial growth bounds. The main arguments rely on the well-posedness theory in the mild sense for stochastic evolution equations in Banach spaces, monotonicity, and a comparison p…
This paper is devoted to obtaining a wellposedness result for multidimensional BSDEs with possibly unbounded random time horizon and driven by a general martingale in a filtration only assumed to satisfy the usual hypotheses, i.e. the filtration may be stochastically discontinuous. We show that for stochastic Lipschitz generators and unbounded, possibly infinite, time horizon, these equations admit a unique solution in appropriately weighted spaces. Our result allows in particular to obtain a wellposedness result for BSDEs driven by discrete--time approximations of general martingales.
