We generalize the results of Ambrosio [Invent. Math. 158 (2004), 227--260] on the existence, uniqueness and stability of regular Lagrangian flows of ordinary differential equations to Stratonovich stochastic differential equations with BV drift coefficients. Then we construct an explicit solution to the corresponding stochastic transport equation in terms of the stochastic flow. The approximate differentiability of the flow is also studied when the drift is a Sobolev vector field.
In this paper we study the Stratonovich stochastic differential equation $\mathrm{d} X=|X|^α\circ\mathrm{d} B$, $α\in(-1,1)$, which has been introduced by Cherstvy et al. [New Journal of Physics 15:083039 (2013)] in the context of analysis of anomalous diffusions in heterogeneous media. We determine its weak and strong solutions, which are homogeneous strong Markov processes \chng{spending zero time at $0$: for $α\in (0,1)$, these solutions have the form $$ X_t^θ=\bigl((1-α)B_t^θ\bigr)^{1/(1-α)}, $$ where $B^θ$ is the $θ$-skew Brownian motion driven by $B$ and starting at $\frac{1}{1-α}(X_0)^{…
Implementation of Strong Numerical Methods of Orders 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 for Ito SDEs with Non-Commutative Noise Based on the Unified Taylor-Ito and Taylor-Stratonovich Expansions and Multiple Fourier-Legendre Series
We formulate and prove a {\it Local Stable Manifold Theorem\/} for stochastic differential equations (sde's) that are driven by spatial Kunita-type semimartingales with stationary ergodic increments. Both Stratonovich and Itô-type equations are treated. Starting with the existence of a stochastic flow for a sde, we introduce the notion of a hyperbolic stationary trajectory. We prove the existence of invariant random stable and unstable manifolds in the neighborhood of the hyperbolic stationary solution. For Stratonovich sde's, the stable and unstable manifolds are dynamically characterized usi…
The solution of a (stochastic) differential equation (SDE) can be locally approximated by a stochastic expansion, a linear combination of iterated integrals. Quantities of interest, like moments, can then be approximated with the expansion. We present a formula for the case where the drivers of the equation are time and Wiener processes. We also present a Mathematica implementation of the result.
Consider a manifold $M$ endowed locally with a pair of complementary distributions $Δ^H \oplus Δ^V=TM$ and let $\text{Diff}(Δ^H, M)$ and $\text{Diff}(Δ^V, M)$ be the corresponding Lie subgroups generated by vector fields in the corresponding distributions. We decompose a stochastic flow with jumps, up to a stopping time, as $φ_t = ξ_t \circ ψ_t$, where $ξ_t \in \text{Diff}(Δ^H, M)$ and $ψ_t \in \text{Diff}(Δ^V, M)$. Our main result provides Stratonovich stochastic differential equations with jumps for each of these two components in the corresponding infinite dimensional Lie groups. We present…
In this paper, the strong solutions $ (X, L)$ of multidimensional stochastic differential equations with reflecting boundary and possible anticipating initial random variables is established. The key is to obtain some substitution formula for Stratonovich integrals via a uniform convergence of the corresponding Riemann sums and to prove continuity of functionals of $ (X, L)$.
In this small note we explicit the relation between Ito and Stratonovich integrals when conditional measure flow components are present in the integrands. The `correction' term involves Lions-type measure derivatives and clarifies which cross-correlations need to be taken into account. We cast the framework in relation to SDEs of mean-field type depending on conditional flows of measure. The result being trivial under full flows of measure.
We consider anticipative Stratonovich stochastic differential equations driven by some stochastic process (not necessarily a semi-martingale). No adaptedness of initial point or vector fields is assumed. Under a simple condition on the stochastic process, we show that the unique solution of the above SDE understood in the rough path sense is actually a Stratonovich solution. This condition is satisfied by the Brownian motion and the fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter greater than 1/4. As application, we obtain rather flexible results such as support theorems, large deviation princ…
We show that the addition of a suitable Stratonovich noise prevents the explosion for ODEs with drifts of super-linear growth, in dimension $d\ge 2$. We also show the existence of an invariant measure and the geometric ergodicity for the corresponding SDE.
In this work we prove Malliavin differentiability for the solution to an SDE with locally Lipschitz and semi-monotone drift. To this end we construct a sequence of SDEs with globally Lipschitz drifts. We show that the solutions of these SDEs converge to the solution of the original SDE and the p-moments of their Malliavin derivatives are uniformly bounded.
We study stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with multiplicative Stratonovich-type noise of the form $ dX_t = b(X_t) dt + σ(X_t)\circ d W_t, X_0=x_0\in\mathbb{R}^d, t\geq0,$ with a possibly singular drift $b\in L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^d)$, $p>d$ and $p\geq 2$, and show that such SDEs can be approximated by random ordinary differential equations by smoothing the noise and the singular drift at the same time. We further prove a support theorem for this class of SDEs in a rather simple way using the Girsanov theorem.
We explain how Itô Stochastic Differential Equations (SDEs) on manifolds may be defined using 2-jets of smooth functions. We show how this relationship can be interpreted in terms of a convergent numerical scheme. We show how jets can be used to derive graphical representations of Itô SDEs. We show how jets can be used to derive the differential operators associated with SDEs in a coordinate free manner. We relate jets to vector flows, giving a geometric interpretation of the Itô--Stratonovich transformation. We show how percentiles can be used to give an alternative coordinate free interpreta…
We quantize a multidimensional $SDE$ (in the Stratonovich sense) by solving the related system of $ODE$'s in which the $d$-dimensional Brownian motion has been replaced by the components of functional stationary quantizers. We make a connection with rough path theory to show that the solutions of the quantized solutions of the $ODE$ converge toward the solution of the $SDE$. On our way to this result we provide convergence rates of optimal quantizations toward the Brownian motion for $\frac 1q$-H\" older distance, $q>2$, in $L^p(¶)$.
Bounds on convergence rate to the invariant distribution for a class of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with a gradient-type drift are obtained.
We consider anticipative Stratonovich stochastic differential equations driven by some stochastic process lifted to a rough path. Neither adaptedness of initial point and vector fields nor commuting conditions between vector field is assumed. Under a simple condition on the stochastic process, we show that the unique solution of the above SDE understood in the rough path sense is actually a Stratonovich solution. We then show that this condition is satisfied by the Brownian motion. As application, we obtain rather flexible results such as support theorems, large deviation principles and Wong--…
We obtain $T_2(C)$ for stochastic differential equations with Dini continuous drift and $T_1(C)$ stochastic differential equations with singular coefficients.
In this article we prove that stochastic differential equation (SDE) with Sobolev drift on compact Riemannian manifold admits a unique $ν$-almost everywhere stochastic invertible flow, where $ν$ is the Riemannian measure, which is quasi-invariant with respect to $ν$. In particular, we extend the well known DiPerna-Lions flows of ODEs to SDEs on Riemannian manifold.
We consider a $d$-dimensional SDE with an identity diffusion matrix and a drift vector being a vector function of bounded variation. We give a representation for the derivative of the solution with respect to the initial data.
We consider the Itô SDE with non-degenerate diffusion coefficient and measurable drift coefficient. Under the condition that the gradient of the diffusion coefficient and the divergences of the diffusion and drift coefficients are exponentially integrable with respect to the Gaussian measure, we show that the stochastic flow leaves the reference measure absolutely continuous.
In this paper, we investigate stochastic differential equations(SDEs) driven by a class of supercritical $α$-stable process(including the rotational symmetric $α-$stable process) with drift $b$. The weak well-posedness is proved, provided that the $(1-α)$-Hölder semi-norm of $b$ is sufficient small.
We consider a stochastic flow on $\mathds{R}$ generated by an SDE with its drift being a function of bounded variation. We show that the flow is differentiable with respect to the initial conditions. Asymptotic properties of the flow are studied.
In this paper, by utilizing Wang's Harnack inequality with power and the Banach fixed point theorem, the weak well-posedness for McKean-Vlasov SDEs with integrable drift is investigated. In addition, using the decoupled method, some regularity such as relative entropy and Sobolev's estimate of invariant probability measure are proved. Finally, by Banach's fixed theorem, the existence and uniqueness of invariant probability measure for symmetric McKean-Vlasov SDEs and stochastic Hamiltonian system with integrable drifts are obtained.
Strongly consistent and asymptotically normal estimators of the Hurst index and volatility parameters of solutions of stochastic differential equations with polynomial drift are proposed. The estimators are based on discrete observations of the underlying processes.
We consider a SDE with a smooth multiplicative non-degenerate noise and a possibly unbounded Holder continuous drift term. We prove existence of a global flow of diffeomorphisms by means of a special transformation of the drift of Ito-Tanaka type. The proof requires non-standard elliptic estimates in Holder spaces. As an application of the stochastic flow, we obtain a Bismut-Elworthy-Li type formula for the first derivatives of the associated diffusion semigroup.
In this paper, using Zvonkin type transform, the large deviation principle is proved for stochastic differential equations with Dini continuous drifts, where the existed methods for large deviation principle are unavailable. The method and result are new in related fields. Moreover, the result is also extended to a class of degenerate stochastic differential equations with Dini continuous drifts.
The log-Harnack inequality and Harnack inequality with powers for semigroups associated to SDEs with non-degenerate diffusion coefficient and non-regular time-dependent drift coefficient are established, based on the recent papers \cite{Flandoli, Zhang11}. We consider two cases in this work: (1) the drift fulfills the LPS-type integrability, and (2) the drift is uniformly Hölder continuous with respect to the spatial variable. Finally, by using explicit heat kernel estimates for the stable process with drift, the Harnack inequality for the stochastic differential equation driven by symmetric s…
We discuss a concept of path-dependent SDE with distributional drift with possible jumps. We interpret it via a suitable martingale problem, for which we provide existence and uniqueness. The corresponding solutions are expected to be Dirichlet processes, nevertheless we give examples of solutions which do not fulfill this property. In the second part of the paper we indeed state and prove significant new results on the class of Dirichlet processes.
In this paper, we first prove that the existence of a solution of SDEs under the assumptions that the drift coefficient is of linear growth and path--dependent, and diffusion coefficient is bounded, uniformly elliptic and Hölder continuous. We apply Gaussian upper bound for a probability density function of a solution of SDE without drift coefficient and local Novikov condition, in order to use Maruyama--Girsanov transformation. The aim of this paper is to prove the existence with explicit representations (under linear/super--linear growth condition), Gaussian two--sided bound and Hölder conti…
We consider a multidimensional SDE with a Gaussian noise and a drift vector being a vector function of bounded variation. We prove the existence of generalized derivative of the solution with respect to the initial conditions and represent the derivative as a solution of a linear SDE with coefficients depending on the initial process. The representation obtained is a natural generalization of the expression for the derivative in the smooth case. The theory of continuous additive functionals is used.
In this paper, high-order moment, even exponential moment, estimates are established for the Hölder norm of solutions to stochastic differential equations driven by fractional Brownian motion whose drifts are measurable and have linear growth. As applications, we first study the weak uniqueness of solutions to fractional stochastic differential equations. Moreover, combining our estimates and the Fourier transform, we establish the existence of density of solutions to equations with irregular drifts.
We propose a new explicit numerical scheme for stochastic differential equation with super-linearly growing drift and linearly growing diffusion coefficients which are also twice continuously differentiable. The rate of strong convergence in $\mathcal{L}^p$-norm is shown to be equal to $1.5$. Moreover, the scheme is computationally more efficient that the corresponding scheme available in the literature.
We consider a multidimensional stochastic differential equation with a Gaussian noise and a drift vector having a jump discontinuity along a hyperplane. The large time behavior of the distance between two solutions starting from different points is studied. We consider a multidimensional stochastic differential equation with a Gaussian noise and a drift vector having a jump discontinuity along a hyperplane. In this paper we prove the stochastic homeomorphism flow property and the strong Feller property for stochastic differential equations with sigular time dependent drifts and Sobolev diffusion coefficients. Moreover, the local well posedness under local assumptions are also obtained. In particular, we extend Krylov and Röckner's results in \cite{Kr-Ro} to the case of non-constant diffusion coefficients.
Let X be the solution of the multidimensional stochastic differential equationdX(t) = b(t, X(t)) dt + sigma(t, X(t)) dW(t)\, with X(0)=x where W is a standard Brownian motion. We show that when b is measurable and sigma is in an appropriate Sobolev space, the law of X satisfies a uniform quadratic transportation inequality.
Consider the following distribution dependent SDE: $$ {\mathrm d} X_t=σ_t(X_t,μ_{X_t}){\mathrm d} W_t+b_t(X_t,μ_{X_t}){\mathrm d} t, $$ where $μ_{X_t}$ stands for the distribution of $X_t$. In this paper for non-degenerate $σ$, we show the strong well-posedness of the above SDE under some integrability assumptions in the spatial variable and Lipschitz continuity in $μ$ about $b$ and $σ$. In particular, we extend the results of Krylov-Röckner \cite{Kr-Ro} to the distribution dependent case.
We close an unexpected gap in the literature of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with drifts of super linear growth (and random coefficients), namely, we prove Malliavin and Parametric Differentiability of such SDEs. The former is shown by proving Ray Absolute Continuity and Stochastic Gâteaux Differentiability. This method enables one to take limits in probability rather than mean square which bypasses the potentially non-integrable error terms from the unbounded drift. This issue is strongly linked with the difficulties of the standard methodology from Nualart's 2006 work, Lemma 1.2.…
The existence and uniqueness of mild solutions are proved for a class of degenerate stochastic differential equations on Hilbert spaces where the drift is Dini continuous in the component with noise and Hölder continuous of order larger than $\ff 2 3$ in the other component. In the finite-dimensional case the Dini continuity is further weakened. The main results are applied to solve second order stochastic systems driven by space-time white noises.
In recent years, an intensive study of strong approximation of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) with a drift coefficient that may have discontinuities in space has begun. In many of these results it is assumed that the drift coefficient satisfies piecewise regularity conditions and the diffusion coefficient is Lipschitz continuous and non-degenerate at the discontinuity points of the drift coefficient. For scalar SDEs of that type the best $L_p$-error rate known so far for approximation of the solution at the final time point is $3/4$ in terms of the number of evaluations of the drivin…
In this paper we prove the existence of strong solutions to a SDE with a generalized drift driven by a multidimensional fractional Brownian motion for small Hurst parameters H<1/2. Here the generalized drift is given as the local time of the unknown solution process, which can be considered an extension of the concept of a skew Brownian motion to the case of fractional Brownian motion. Our approach for the construction of strong solutions is new and relies on techniques from Malliavin calculus combined with a "local time variational calculus" argument.
We study the zero-noise limit for autonomous, one-dimensional ordinary differential equations with discontinuous right-hand sides. Although the deterministic equation might have infinitely many solutions, we show, under rather general conditions, that the sequence of stochastically perturbed solutions converges to a unique distribution on classical solutions of the deterministic equation. We provide several tools for computing this limit distribution.
In this paper we present a Doob type maximal inequality for stochastic processes satisfying the conditional increment control condition. If we assume, in addition, that the margins of the process have uniform exponential tail decay, we prove that the supremum of the process decays exponentially in the same manner. Then we apply this result to the construction of the almost everywhere stochastic flow to stochastic differential equations with singular time dependent divergence-free drift.
We consider a process given as the solution of a stochastic differential equation with irregular, path dependent and time-inhomogeneous drift coefficient and additive noise. Explicit and optimal bounds for the Lebesgue density of that process at any given time are derived. The bounds and their optimality is shown by identifying the worst case stochastic differential equation. Then we generalise our findings to a larger class of diffusion coefficients.
We study existence and uniqueness of solution for stochastic differential equations with distributional drift by giving a meaning to the Stroock-Varadhan martingale problem associated such equations. The approach we exploit is the one of paracontrolled distributions introduced in [13]. As a result we make sense of the three dimensional polymer measure with white noise potential.
In this paper we present a new method for the construction of strong solutions of SDE's with merely integrable drift coefficients driven by a multidimensional fractional Brownian motion with Hurst parameter H < 1/2. Furthermore, we prove the rather surprising result of the higher order Frechet differentiability of stochastic flows of such SDE's in the case of a small Hurst parameter. In establishing these results we use techniques from Malliavin calculus combined with new ideas based on a "local time variational calculus". We expect that our general approach can be also applied to the study of…
We study functional stochastic differential equations with a locally unbounded, functional drift focusing on well-posedness, stability and the strong Feller property. Following the non-functional case, we only consider integrability conditions and avoid continuity assumptions as far as possible. Our approach is mainly based on Zvonkin's transformation [18], an extended version of the probabilistic approach of Maslowski and Seidler [12] and the convergence concept for random variables in topological spaces in [2].
Motivated by the recent advances in the theory of stochastic partial differential equations involving nonlinear functions of distributions, like the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation, we reconsider the unique solvability of one-dimensional stochastic differential equations, the drift of which is a distribution, by means of rough paths theory. Existence and uniqueness are established in the weak sense when the drift reads as the derivative of a H{ö}lder continuous function. Regularity of the drift part is investigated carefully and a related stochastic calculus is also proposed, which makes th…
Consider the stochastic evolution equation in a separable Hilbert space with a nice multiplicative noise and a locally Dini continuous drift. We prove that for any initial data the equation has a unique (possibly explosive) mild solution. Under a reasonable condition ensuring the non-explosion of the solution, the strong Feller property of the associated Markov semigroup is proved. Gradient estimates and log-Harnack inequalities are derived for the associated semigroup under certain global conditions, which are new even in finite-dimensions.
We define two new notions of projection of a stochastic differential equation (SDE) onto a submanifold: the Ito-vector and Ito-jet projections. This allows one to systematically develop low dimensional approximations to high dimensional SDEs using differential geometric techniques. The approach generalizes the notion of projecting a vector field onto a submanifold in order to derive approximations to ordinary differential equations, and improves the previous Stratonovich projection method by adding optimality analysis and results. Indeed, just as in the case of ordinary projection, our definit…
We consider the stability problems of one dimensional SDEs when the diffusion coefficients satisfy the so called Nakao-Le Gall condition. The explicit rate of convergence of the stability problems are given by the Yamada-Watanabe method without the drifts. We also discuss the convergence rate for the SDEs driven by the symmetric $α$ stable process. These stability rate problems are extended to the case where the drift coefficients are bounded and in $L^1$. It is shown that the convergence rate is invariant under the removal of drift method for the SDEs driven by the Wiener process.
