We introduce the Poincaré-de Sitter flow with real numbers $\{r,s\}$ to parameterize the relativistic quadruple ${\frak Q}_{PoR}=[{\cal P}, {\cal P}_2, {\cal D}_+,{\cal D}_-]_{M/M_\pm/D_\pm}$ for the triple of Poincaré/\dS/\AdS\ group ${\cal P}/{\cal D}_+/{\cal D}_-$ invariant special relativity. The dual Poincaré group ${\cal P}_2$-invariant degenerated Einstein manifold $M_\pm$ of $Λ_\pm=\pm3l^{-2}$ is for the space/time-like domain $\dot R_\pm$ of the compact lightcone $\bar C_O$ associated to the common space/time-like region $R_\pm$ of the lightcone $C_O$ at common origin on Minkowski/\dS/\AdS\ spacetime $M/D_+/D_-$. Based on the principle of relativity with two universal constants $(c, l)$, there are the law of inertia, coordinate time simultaneity and so on for the flow on a Poincaré-\dS\ symmetric Einstein manifold of $Λ_{s}=3{s}l^{-2}$. Further, there is Robertson-Walker-like cosmos of the flow for the propertime simultaneity. The \dS\ special relativity with double $[{\cal D}_+,{\cal P}_2]_{D_+/M_+}$ can provide a consistent kinematics for the cosmic scale physics with an upper entropy bound $S_R=k_Bπg^{-2}, g^2:=(\ell_P/R)^2 \simeq 10^{-122}$, for $R\simeq (3/Λ)^{1/2}\sim 13.7 Gly$.
There is a growing number of physical models, like point particle(s) in 2+1 gravity or Doubly Special Relativity, in which the space of momenta is curved, de Sitter space. We show that for such models the algebra of space-time symmetries possesses a natural Hopf algebra structure. It turns out that this algebra is just the quantum $κ$-Poincaré algebra.
We study the space-time boundary of a Poincare patch of Anti-de Sitter (AdS) space. We map the Poincare AdS boundary to the global coordinate chart and show why this boundary is not equivalent to the global AdS boundary. The Poincare AdS boundary is shown to contain points of the bulk of the entire AdS space. The Euclidean AdS space is also discussed. In this case one can define a semi-global chart that divides the AdS space in the same way as the corresponding Euclidean Poincare chart.
It is well-known that de Sitter Lie algebra $\mathfrak{o}(1,4)$ contrary to anti-de Sitter one $\mathfrak{o}(2,3)$ does not have a standard $\mathbb{Z}_2$-graded superextension. We show here that the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{o}(1,4)$ has a superextension based on the $\mathbb{Z}_2\times\mathbb{Z}_2$-grading. Using the standard contraction procedure for this superextension we obtain an {\it alternative} super-Poincaré algebra with the $\mathbb{Z}_2\times\mathbb{Z}_2$-grading.
We propose a contraction of the de Sitter quantum group leading to the quantum Poincare group in any dimensions. The method relies on the coaction of the de Sitter quantum group on a non--commutative space, and the deformation parameter $q$ is sent to one. The bicrossproduct structure of the quantum Poincaré group is exhibited and shown to be dual to the one of the $κ$--Poincaré Hopf algebra, at least in two dimensions.
Two sets of modes of a massive free scalar field are quantized in a pair of Poincaré patches of Lorentzian anti-de Sitter (AdS) space, AdS$_{d+1}$ ($d \geq 2$). It is shown that in Poincaré coordinates $(r,t,\vec{x})$, the two boundaries at $r=\pm \infty$ are connected. When the scalar mass $m$ satisfies a condition $0 < ν=\sqrt{(d^2/4)+(m\ell)^2} <1$, there exist two sets of mode solutions to Klein-Gordon equation, with distinct fall-off behaviors at the boundary. By using the fact that the boundaries at $r=\pm \infty$ are connected, a conserved Klein-Gordon norm can be defined for these two …
Defining a new r-matrix compatible with the scalar product at the basis of the Chern-Simons action for a particle coupled to (2+1) Lorentzian gravity with cosmological constant, I show how deformed symmetries of $κ$-de Sitter and, in the vanishing cosmological limit, of $κ$-Poincaré kind, arise naturally as quantum-deformation of three dimensional gravity. I obtain moreover the non-commutative spacetime associated to these kinds of symmetries.
Four-dimensional extended: Poincaré, AdS-Lorentz and Maxwell algebras, are obtained by expanding an extension of de Sitter or conformal algebra, SO(4,1) or SO(3,2). The procedure can be generalized to obtain a new family of extended $\mathcal{C}_k^{E}$ and its flat limit, the extended $\mathcal{B}_k^{E}$ algebras. The extended $\mathcal{C}_k$ and $\mathcal{B}_k$ algebras have been introduced in the literature recently. The extended Poincaré algebra is also obtained as an Inönü-Wigner contraction of extended de Sitter algebra.
Solutions of the sourceless Einstein's equation with weak and strong cosmological constants are discussed by using Inönü-Wigner contractions of the de Sitter groups and spaces. The more usual case corresponds to a weak cosmological-constant limit, in which the de Sitter groups are contracted to the Poincaré group, and the de Sitter spaces are reduced to the Minkowski space. In the strong cosmological-constant limit, however, the de Sitter groups are contracted to another group which has the same abstract Lie algebra of the Poincaré group, and the de Sitter spaces are reduced to a 4-dimensional…
We discuss the quantization of linearized gravity in the background de Sitter spacetime using a gauge-invariant formalism to write the perturbed gravitational field in the static patch. This field is quantized after fixing the gauge completely. The response rate of this field to monochromatic multipole sources is then computed in the thermal equilibrium state with the well known Gibbons-Hawking temperature. We compare this response rate with the one obtained in the Bunch-Davies-like vacuum state defined in the Poincaré patch. These response rates are found to be the same as expected. This agre…
Following arXiv:1012.2107 we show that in global de Sitter space its isometry is broken by the loop IR divergences for any invariant vacuum state of the massive scalars. We derive kinetic equation in global de Sitter space. It follows from the Dyson-Schwinger equation of the Schwinger-Keldysh diagrammatic technique in IR limit and allows to understand the physical meaning and consequences of the loop IR divergences. In many respects the isometry breaking in global dS is similar to the one in the contracting Poincare patch of de Sitter space. Hence, as a warm up exercise we study the kinetic eq…
In this work we propose an alternative description of the quantum mechanics of a massive and spinning free particle in anti-de~Sitter spacetime, using a phase space rather than a spacetime representation. The regularizing character of the curvature appears clearly in connection with a notion of localization in phase space which is shown to disappear in the zero curvature limit. We show in particular how the anti-de~Sitter optimally localized (coherent) states contract to plane waves as the curvature goes to zero. In the first part we give a detailed description of the classical theory {\it \a …
Strings propagating in AdS_{D+1} are made Weyl invariant to leading order in large D by a ghost-matter coupling that preserves the Poincare symmetry of the boundary.
The quantization of a scalar field in anti de Sitter spacetime using Poincaré coordinates is considered. We find a discrete spectrum that is consistent with a possible mapping between bulk and boundary quantum states.
This paper analyzes, for a multi-particle system of spin-1/2 particles, the consequences of replacing the Poincare group as fundamental symmetry group by the de Sitter group SO(3,2). The flat-space approximation of the de Sitter group by the Poincare group defines a superselection rule, which correlates spin and momentum of particles. This correlation can be formulated as an interaction between two particles, which exhibits properties of the electromagnetic interaction.
We consider time-ordered (or Feynman) propagators between two different $α-$states of a linear de Sitter Quantum Field in the global de Sitter manifold and in the Poincaré patch. We separately examine $α-β$, In-In and In-Out propagators and find the imaginary contribution to the effective actions. The In-In propagators are real in both the Poincaré patch and in the global de Sitter manifold. On the other side the In-Out propagators at coincident points contain finite imaginary contributions in both patches in even dimensions, but they are not equivalent. In odd dimensions in both patches the i…
We consider a superextension of the extended Jordanian twist, describing nonstandard quantization of anti-de-Sitter ($AdS$) superalgebra $osp(1|4)$ in the form of Hopf superalgebra. The super-Jordanian twisting function and corresponding basic coproduct formulae for the generators of $osp(1|4)$ are given in explicit form. The nonlinear transformation of the classical superalgebra basis not modifying the defining algebraic relations but simplifying coproducts and antipodes is proposed. Our physical application is to interpret the new super-Jordanian deformation of $osp(1|4)$ superalgebra as def…
We perform canonical quantization of the Stueckelberg Lagrangian for massive vector fields in the conformally flat patch of de Sitter space in the Bunch-Davies vacuum and find their Wightman two-point functions by the mode-sum method. We discuss the zero-mass limit of these two-point functions and their limits where the Stueckelberg parameter $ξ$ tends to zero or infinity. It is shown that our results reproduce the standard flat-space propagator in the appropriate limit. We also point out that the classic work of Allen and Jacobson for the two-point function of the Proca field and a recent wor…
The theory of free relativistic fields is shown to arise in a unified manner from higher-order, configuration-space, irreducible representations of the Poincaré group. A de Sitter subalgebra, in the massive case, and a Poincaré subalgebra, in the massless case, of the enveloping algebra of the Poincaré group are the suitable higher-order polarizations. In particular, a simple group-theoretic derivation of the Dirac equation is given.
The goal of the present note is to understand whether it is possible to define interacting quantum field theory in global anti de Sitter space-time with Lorentzian signature, in its covering space-time (whose time coordinate is not periodic) and in its Poincare patch. We show that in global anti de Sitter space-time there are certain problems to define quantum field theory properly. This is due to an additional UV singularity of the Feynman propagator which is sitting on the light-cone emanating from the antipodal point of the source. There is no such singularity in flat space-time. At the sam…
We propose two different high-energy-theory correspondences with graphene (and related materials) scenarios, associated to grain boundaries, that are topological defects for which both Dirac points are necessary. The first correspondence points to a $(3+1)$-dimensional theory, with nonzero torsion, with spatiotemporal gauge group $SO(3,1)$, locally isomorphic to the Lorentz group in $(3+1)$ dimensions, or to the de Sitter group in $(2+1)$ dimensions. The other correspondence treats the two Dirac fields as an internal symmetry doublet, and it is linked here with unconventional supersymmetry wit…
We construct the graviton two-point function for a two-parameter family of linear covariant gauges in n-dimensional de Sitter space. The construction is performed via the mode-sum method in the Bunch-Davies vacuum in the Poincaré patch, and a Fierz-Pauli mass term is introduced to regularize the infrared (IR) divergences. The resulting two-point function is de Sitter-invariant, and free of IR divergences in the massless limit (for a certain range of parameters) though analytic continuation with respect to the mass for the pure-gauge sector of the two-point function is necessary for this result…
We discuss thermalization in de Sitter space and argue, from two different points of view, that the typical time needed for thermalization is of order $R^{3}/l_{pl}^{2}$, where $R$ is the radius of the de Sitter space in question. This time scale gives plenty of room for non-thermal deviations to survive during long periods of inflation. We also speculate in more general terms on the meaning of the time scale for finite quantum systems inside isolated boxes, and comment on the relation to the Poincaré recurrence time.
The generic feature of non-conformal fields in Poincare patch of de Sitter space is the presence of large IR loop corrections even for massive fields. Moreover, in global de Sitter there are loop IR divergences for the massive fields. Naive analytic continuation from de Sitter to Anti-de-Sitter might lead one to conclude that something similar should happen in the latter space as well. However, we show that there are no large IR effects in the one-loop two-point functions in the Poincare patch of Anti-de-Sitter space even for the zero mass minimally coupled scalar fields. As well there are nei…
We show that depending on the direction of deformation of $κ$-Poincaré algebra (time-like, space-like, or light-like) the associated phase spaces of single particle in Doubly Special Relativity theories have the energy-momentum spaces of the form of de Sitter, anti-de Sitter, and flat space, respectively.
Lagrangian of the Einstein's special relativity with universal parameter $c$ ($\mathcal{SR}_c$) is invariant under Poincaré transformation which preserves Lorentz metric $η_{μν}$. The $\mathcal{SR}_c$ has been extended to be one which is invariant under de Sitter transformation that preserves so called Beltrami metric $B_{μν}$. There are two universal parameters $c$ and $R$ in this Special Relativity (denote it as $\mathcal{SR}_{cR}$). The Lagrangian-Hamiltonian formulism of $\mathcal{SR}_{cR}$ is formulated in this paper. The canonic energy, canonic momenta, and 10 Noether charges correspondi…
The Poincare' group generalizes the Galilei group for high-velocity kinematics. The de Sitter group is assumed to go one step further, generalizing Poincare' as the group governing high-energy kinematics. In other words, ordinary special relativity is here replaced by de Sitter relativity. In this theory, the cosmological constant is no longer a free parameter, and can be determined in terms of other quantities. When applied to the whole universe, it is able to predict the value of the cosmological constant and to explain the cosmic coincidence. When applied to the propagation of ultra-high en…
In this paper we assume the de Sitter Space version of Black Hole Complementarity which states that a single causal patch of de Sitter space is described as an isolated finite temperature cavity bounded by a horizon which allows no loss of information. We discuss the how the symmetries of de Sitter space should be implemented. Then we prove a no go theorem for implementing the symmetries if the entropy is finite. Thus we must either give up the finiteness of the de Sitter entropy or the exact symmetry of the classical space. Each has interesting implications for the very long time behavior. We…
Black hole no-hair theorems are proven using inequalities that govern the radial dependence of spherically symmetric configurations of matter fields. In this paper, we analyze the analogous inequalities for geometries dual to renormalization group flows via the AdS/CFT correspondence. These inequalities give much useful information about the qualitative properties of such flows. For Poincare invariant flows, we show that generic flows of relevant or irrelevant operators lead to singular geometries. For the case of irrelevant operators, this leads to an apparent conflict with Polchinski's decou…
In this paper we recall the construction of Doubly Special Relativity (DSR) as a theory with energy-momentum space being the four dimensional de Sitter space. Then the bases of the DSR theory can be understood as different coordinate systems on this space. We investigate the emerging geometrical picture of Doubly Special Relativity by presenting the basis independent features of DSR that include the non-commutative structure of space-time and the phase space algebra. Next we investigate the relation between our geometric formulation and the one based on quantum $κ$-deformations of the Poincaré…
The $κ$-deformation of the (2+1)D anti-de Sitter, Poincaré and de Sitter groups is presented through a unified approach in which the curvature of the spacetime (or the cosmological constant) is considered as an explicit parameter. The Drinfel'd-double and the Poisson-Lie structure underlying the $κ$-deformation are explicitly given, and the three quantum kinematical groups are obtained as quantizations of such Poisson-Lie algebras. As a consequence, the non-commutative (2+1)D spacetimes that generalize the $κ$-Minkowski space to the (anti-)de Sitter ones are obtained. Moreover, noncommutative …
We propose a general framework for studying quantum field theory on the anti-de-Sitter space-time, based on the assumption of positivity of the spectrum of the possible energy operators. In this framework we show that the n-point functions are analytic in suitable domains of the complex AdS manifold, that it is possible to Wick rotate to the Euclidean manifold and come back, and that it is meaningful to restrict AdS quantum fields to Poincare' branes. We give also a complete characterization of two-point functions which are the simplest example of our theory. Finally we prove the existence of …
In a recent paper [J. P. M. Pitelli, Phys. Rev. D {\bf 99}, 108701 (2019)], one of us showed that the vacuum state associated to conformal fields on a Poicaré patch of anti-de Sitter spacetime is not $\text{AdS}$ invariant for fields satisfying non-trivial boundary conditions (by non-trivial we mean neither Dirichlet nor Neumann) at the conformal boundary. In this way, two isometrically related observers in anti-de Sitter space have different notions of no particle content. Therefore, an observer who is suddenly transported to a different (but isometrically related) frame will feel a bath of p…
In the presence of a cosmological constant, interpreted as a purely geometric entity, absence of matter is represented by a de Sitter spacetime. As a consequence, ordinary Poincare' special relativity is no longer valid and must be replaced by a de Sitter special relativity. By considering the kinematics of a spinless particle in a de Sitter spacetime, we study the geodesics of this spacetime, the ensuing definitions of canonical momenta, and explore possible implications for quantum mechanics.
We comment on approaches to the Cosmological Constant Problem in 4+1 dimensions, with the Standard Model fields confined to a 3-brane. We show that requiring maximal 4D symmetry only on this 3-brane (and not on all other 3-branes that foliate the 4+1-dimensional space) leads to a wide class of de Sitter solutions on the brane, with the Hubble constant sourced by the brane tension and a bulk scalar potential. For Poincaré symmetry on the brane, fine-tuning is always necessary. The de Sitter solutions are generated at a special dynamical point. Small deviations from this point are shown to grow …
We consider a point particle coupled to 2+1 gravity, with de Sitter gauge group SO(3,1). We observe that there are two contraction limits of the gauge group: one resulting in the Poincare group, and the second with the gauge group having the form AN(2) \ltimes \an(2)^*. The former case was thoroughly discussed in the literature, while the latter leads to the deformed particle action with de Sitter momentum space, like in the case of kappa-Poincare particle. However, the construction forces the mass shell constraint to have the form p_0^2 = m^2, so that the effective particle action describes t…
A spacetime interpretation of deformed relativity symmetry groups was recently proposed by resorting to Finslerian geometries, seen as the outcome of a continuous limit endowed with first order corrections from the quantum gravity regime. In this work we further investigate such connection between deformed algebras and Finslerian geometries by showing that the Finsler geometries associated to the generalisation of the Poincaré group (the so called $κ$-Poincaré Hopf algebra) are maximally symmetric spacetimes which are also of the Berwald type: Finslerian spacetimes for which the connections ar…
We discuss dynamics of massive Klein-Gordon fields in two-dimensional Anti-de Sitter spacetimes ($AdS_2$), in particular conserved quantities and non-modal instability on the future Poincaré horizon called, respectively, the Aretakis constants and the Aretakis instability. We find out the geometrical meaning of the Aretakis constants and instability in a parallel-transported frame along a null geodesic, i.e., some components of the higher-order covariant derivatives of the field in the parallel-transported frame are constant or unbounded at the late time, respectively. Because $AdS_2$ is maxim…
The replacement of the Poincaré-invariant Einstein special relativity by a de Sitter-invariant special relativity produces concomitant changes in all relativistic theories, including general relativity. A crucial change in the latter is that both the background de Sitter curvature and the gravitational dynamical curvature turns out to be included in a single curvature tensor. This means that the cosmological term no longer explicitly appears in Einstein equation, and is consequently not restricted to be constant. In this paper, the Newtonian limit of such theory is obtained, and the ensuing Ne…
In this paper we elaborate on the gauge invariant frame-like Lagrangian description for the wide class of the so-called infinite (or continuous) spin representations of Poincaré group. We use our previous results on the gauge invariant formalism for the massive mixed symmetry fields corresponding to the Young tableau with two rows Y(k,l) (Y(k+1/2,l+1/2) for the fermionic case). We have shown that the corresponding infinite spin solutions can be constructed as a limit where k goes to infinity, while l remain to be fixed and label different representations. Moreover, our gauge invariant formalis…
Supercritical string theories in D>10 dimensions with no moduli are described, generalizing the asymmetric orientifold construction of one of the authors. By taking the number of dimensions to be large and turning on fluxes, dilaton potentials are generated with nontrivial minima at arbitrarily small cosmological constant and D-dimensional string coupling, separated by a barrier from a flat-space linear dilaton region, but possibly suffering from strong coupling problems. The general issue of the decay of a de Sitter vacuum to flat space is discussed. For relatively small barriers, such decays…
We study a real, massive Klein-Gordon field in the Poincaré fundamental domain of the $(d+1)$-dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS) spacetime, subject to a particular choice of dynamical boundary conditions of generalized Wentzell type, whereby the boundary data solves a non-homogeneous, boundary Klein-Gordon equation, with the source term fixed by the normal derivative of the scalar field at the boundary. This naturally defines a field in the conformal boundary of the Poincaré fundamental domain of AdS. We completely solve the equations for the bulk and boundary fields and investigate the existenc…
In the presence of a cosmological constant, ordinary Poincare' special relativity is no longer valid and must be replaced by a de Sitter special relativity, in which Minkowski space is replaced by a de Sitter spacetime. In consequence, the ordinary notions of energy and momentum change, and will satisfy a different kinematic relation. Such a theory is a different kind of a doubly special relativity. Since the only difference between the Poincare' and the de Sitter groups is the replacement of translations by certain linear combinations of translations and proper conformal transformations, the …
A special relativity based on the de Sitter group is introduced, which is the theory that might hold up in the presence of a non-vanishing cosmological constant. Like ordinary special relativity, it retains the quotient character of spacetime, and a notion of homogeneity. As a consequence, the underlying spacetime will be a de Sitter spacetime, whose associated kinematics will differ from that of ordinary special relativity. The corresponding modified notions of energy and momentum are obtained, and the exact relationship between them, which is invariant under a re-scaling of the involved quan…
Curved momentum spaces associated to the $κ$-deformation of the (3+1) de Sitter and Anti-de Sitter algebras are constructed as orbits of suitable actions of the dual Poisson-Lie group associated to the $κ$-deformation with non-vanishing cosmological constant. The $κ$-de Sitter and $κ$-Anti-de Sitter curved momentum spaces are separately analysed, and they turn out to be, respectively, half of the (6+1)-dimensional de Sitter space and half of a space with $SO(4,4)$ invariance. Such spaces are made of the momenta associated to spacetime translations and the "hyperbolic" momenta associated to boo…
It is well known that the memory effect in flat spacetime is parametrized by the BMS supertranslation. We investigate the relation between the memory effect and diffeomorphism in de Sitter spacetime. We find that gravitational memory is parametrized by a BMS-like supertranslation in the static patch of de Sitter spacetime. We also show a diffeomorphism that corresponds to gravitational memory in the Poincare/cosmological patch. Our method does not need to assume the separation between the source and the detector to be small compared with the Hubble radius, and can potentially be applicable to …
Owing to the existence of an invariant length at the Planck scale, Einstein special relativity breaks down at that scale. A possible solution to this problem is arguably to replace the Poincaré invariant Einstein special relativity by a de Sitter invariant special relativity. In addition to reconciling Lorentz symmetry with the existence of an invariant length, such replacement produces concomitant changes in all relativistic theories, including general relativity, which becomes what we have called 'de Sitter modified general relativity'. In this paper, the Newtonian limit of this theory is us…
Experimental evidences and theoretical motivations lead to consider the curved space-time relativity based on the de Sitter group $SO_0(1,4)$ or $Sp(2,2)$ as an appealing substitute to the flat space-time Poincare relativity. Quantum elementary systems are then associated to unitary irreducible representations of that simple Lie group. At the lowest limit of the discrete series lies a remarkable family of scalar representations involving Krein structures and related undecomposable representation cohomology which deserves to be thoroughly studied in view of quantization of the corresponding car…
The two-point function for tensor metric perturbations around de Sitter spacetime including one-loop corrections from massless conformally coupled scalar fields is calculated exactly. We work in the Poincaré patch (with spatially flat sections) and employ dimensional regularization for the renormalization process. Unlike previous studies we obtain the result for arbitrary time separations rather than just equal times. Moreover, in contrast to existing results for tensor perturbations, ours is manifestly invariant with respect to the subgroup of de Sitter isometries corresponding to a simultane…
We consider the operation of contraction of unitary irreducible representations of the de Sitter group $ SO(4,1) $. It is shown that a direct sum of unitary irreducible representations of the Poincaré group with different signs of the rest mass is obtained as a result of contraction. The results obtained are used to interpret the phenomena of "dark matter" and "dark energy" in terms of the elementary quantum systems of de Sitter's world.
The concordance model of cosmology favours a universe with a tiny positive cosmological constant. A tiniest positive constant curvature, profoundly alters the asymptotic structure, forcing a re-look at a theory of gravitational radiation. Even for compact astrophysical sources, the intuition from Minkowski background is challenged at every step. Nevertheless, at least for candidate sources such as compact binaries, it is possible to quantify influence of the cosmological constant, as small corrections to the leading order Minkowski background results. Employing suitably chosen Fermi normal coo…
We recently constructed the $R$-Poincaré algebra from an appropriate deformed Poisson brackets which reproduce the Fock coordinate transformation. We showed then that the spacetime of this transformation is the de Sitter one. In this paper, we derive in the $R$-Minkowski spacetime the Dirac equation and show that this is none other than the Dirac equation in the de Sitter spacetime given by its conformally flat metric. Furthermore, we propose a new approach for solving Dirac's equation in the de Sitter spacetime using the Schrödinger picture.
We consider quantum field theory in a five-dimensional anti-de Sitter background, possibly truncated by 4d branes. In the Euclidian version of this space, it is known that propagators exponentially decay when they go far enough towards the Poincaré horizon, i.e. deep enough into the IR region of the AdS bulk. In this note we show that an analogous property exists in Lorentzian AdS. The exponential suppression is found to occur in the presence of bulk interactions dressing the AdS propagators. We calculate one-loop gravitational dressing and find that the suppression effect comes from the scala…
Quantum field theory on anti-de Sitter spacetime requires the introduction of boundary conditions at its conformal boundary, due essentially to the absence of global hyperbolicity. Here we calculate the renormalized stress-energy tensor $T_{μν}$ for a scalar field $ϕ$ on the Poincaré patch of $\text{AdS}_2$ and study how it depends on those boundary conditions. We show that, except for the Dirichlet and Neumann cases, the boundary conditions break the maximal $\textrm{AdS}$ invariance. As a result, $\langleϕ^2\rangle$ acquires a space dependence and $\langle T_{μν}\rangle$ is no longer proport…
