Magnetization, susceptibility, specific heat, resistivity, neutron and x-ray diffraction have been used to characterize the properties of single crystalline CaFe2-xNixAs2 as a function of Ni doping for x varying from 0 to 0.1. The combined first-order structural and magnetic phase transitions occur together in the undoped system at 172 K, with a small decrease in the area of the a-b plane along with an abrupt increase in the length of the c-axis in the orthorhombic phase. With increasing x the ordered moment and transition temperature decrease, but the transition remains sharp at modest doping while the area of the a-b plane quickly decreases and then saturates. Warming and cooling data in the resistivity and neutron diffraction indicate hysteresis of ~2 K. At larger doping the transition is more rounded, and decreases to zero for x=0.06. The susceptibility is anisotropic for all values of x. Electrical resistivity for x = 0.053 and 0.06 shows a superconducting transition with an onset of nearly 15 K which is further corroborated by substantial diamagnetic susceptibility. For the fully superconducting sample there is no long range magnetic order and the structure remains tetragonal at all temperature, but there is an anomalous increase in the area of the a-b plane in going to low T. Heat capacity data show that the density of states at the Fermi level increases for x > 0.053 as inferred from the value of Sommerfeld coefficient. The regime of superconductivity is quite restrictive, with a maximum TC of 15 K and an upper critical field Hc2=14 T. Superconductivity disappears in the overdoped region.
Systematical doping studies have been carried out to search for the possible superconductivity in the transition metal doped Zr$_5$Ge$_3$ system. Superconductivity up to 5.7K is discovered in the Ru-doped Zr$_5$Ge$_{2.5}$Ru$_{0.5}$ sample. Interestingly, with the same Ru-doping, superconductivity is only induced with doping at the Ge site, but remains absent down to 1.8K with doping at the Zr site or interstitial site. Both magnetic and transport studies have revealed the bulk superconductivity nature for Ru-doped Zr$_5$Ge$_{2.5}$Ru$_{0.5}$ sample. The high upper critical field, enhanced elect…
Within the framework of kinetic-energy-driven superconductivity, the asymmetric doping dependence of superconductivity between the hole- and electron-doped triangular-lattice superconductors has been studied. It is shown that although the superconducting transition temperature has a dome-shaped doping dependence for both the hole- and electron-doped triangular-lattice superconductors, superconductivity appears over a wide doping of range in the hole-doped case, while it only exists in a narrow range of the doping in the electron-doped side. Moreover, the maximum superconducting transition temp…
Recently topological superconductors emerge as a platform to realise Majorana Fermions which has potential application in topological quantum computation. Superconductivity in these materials can be realised by chemical doping, high pressure or proximity effect. Herein we report the emergent superconductivity in single-crystals of Re doped type-II Weyl semimetal NiTe2. The magnetic and transport measurements highlight that Re substitution in Ni-site induces superconductivity at a maximum temperature of 2.36 K. Hall effect and specific heat measurements indicate that Re substitution is doping h…
The synthesis of LixBC (x > 0.5) by high temperature Li deintercalation from LiBC is demonstrated by refinement of X-ray and neutron powder diffraction data - contrary to theoretical expectation no superconductivity above 2K is observed in these materials
Co-doping of lanthanum and phosphorus in CaFe2As2 induces superconductivity at 45 K. This superconducting transition temperature is higher than the 38 K transition in Ba1-xKxFe2As2, which is the maximum found thus far among the 122 phases. Superconductivity with a substantial shielding volume fraction was observed at 0.12 $\leq$ x $\leq$ 0.18 and y = 0.06 in Ca1-xLaxFe2(As1-yPy)2. The superconducting phase of the present system seems to be not adjacent to an antiferromagnetic phase.
In this paper we report the synthesis of iron-based superconductors CaFe2-xRhxAs2 using one-step solid state reaction method, which crystallizes in the ThCr2Si2-type structure with a space group I4/mmm. The systematic evolution of the lattice constants demonstrates that the Fe ions are successfully replaced by the Rh. By increasing the doping content of Rh, the spin-density-wave (SDW) transition in the parent compound is suppressed and superconductivity emerges. The maximum superconducting transition temperature is found at 18.5 K with the doping level of x = 0.15. The temperature dependence o…
We report a strategy to induce superconductivity in the BiS$_2$-based compound LaOBiS$_2$. Instead of substituting F for O, we increase the charge-carrier density (electron dope) via substitution of tetravalent Th$^{+4}$, Hf$^{+4}$, Zr$^{+4}$, and Ti$^{+4}$ for trivalent La$^{+3}$. It is found that both the LaOBiS$_2$ and ThOBiS$_2$ parent compounds are bad metals and that superconductivity is induced by electron doping with \emph{T$_c$} values of up to 2.85 K. The superconducting and normal states were characterized by electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and heat capacity measure…
Through a combination of X-ray diffraction, electrical transport, magnetic susceptibility, and heat capacity measurements, we report the effect of La doping on Sr in the newly discovered SrFBiS2 system. Superconducting transition with critical temperature Tc of 2.8 K, developed from a semiconducting-like normal state, was found in Sr0.5La0.5FBiS2. A strong diamagnetic signal and a clear specific heat anomaly associated with this transition were observed, confirming bulk superconductivity. The upper critical field Hc2(0) was estimated to be 1 Tesla by using the Ginzburg-Landau approach. Our exp…
We examined doping effect of 3d transition metal elements (TM: Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, and Cu) at the Fe site of a quaternary fluoroarsenide CaFeAsF, an analogue of 1111-type parent compound LaFeAsO. The anomaly at ~120 K observed in resistivity (rho) vs. temperature (T) plot for the parent compound is suppressed by the doping of each TM element. Furthermore, Co- and Ni-doping (CaFe1-xTMxAsF, TM = Co, Ni) induces superconductivity with a transition temperature maximized at the nominal x = 0.10 for Co (22 K) and at x = 0.05 for Ni (12 K). These optimal doping levels may be understood by considering tha…
Superconductivity with zero resistance transition temperature (Tc) up to 8.4 K and 8.3 K can be obtained by doping cobalt and sodium in alfa-FeSe with the nominal composition of Fe0.92Co0.08Se and Na0.1FeSe, respectively. The electrical resistivity and AC magnetic susceptibility of the prepared samples, measured with physical property measurement system (PPMS), unambiguously consistent with each other to indicate that the samples are superconductive. The respective doping mechanisms for cobalt and sodium into the parent alfa-FeSe are the Fe-site substitution and the interlayer insertion. It is…
The effects of partial substitution of Cu and Co for Ni in the intermetallic perovskite superconductor MgCNi3 are reported. Calculation of the expected electronic density of states suggests that electron (Cu) and hole (Co) doping should have different effects. For MgCNi3-xCux, solubility of Cu is limited to approximately 3% (x = 0.1), and Tc decreases systematically from 7K to 6K. For MgCNi3-xCox, solubility of Co is much more extensive, but bulk superconductivity disappears for Co doping of 1% (x = 0.03). No signature of long range magnetic ordering is observed in the magnetic susceptibility …
We present a study of the structural and physical properties of directly hole doped LaFe1-xMnxAsO (x = 0.0-0.2) and the influence of charge compensation / electron-doping by additional F doping in LaFe0.9Mn0.1AsO1-yFy (y = 0.1-0.5). High quality polycrystalline samples were prepared using a solid state metathesis reaction. The unit cell increases upon Mn doping, but decreases again when additional F is inserted. The semiconducting character of LaFe1-xMnxAsO decreases with additional F doping. Muon spin relaxation (muSR) measurements reveal short range magnetic order in LaFe1-xMnxAsO and a supp…
The effects of copper doping on the structural and superconducting phase transitions of Ba(Ni$_{1-x}$Cu$_{x}$)$_{2}$As$_{2}$ were studied by examining the resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and specific heat. We found an abrupt increase in the superconducting transition temperature $T_{\rm c}$ from 0.6 K in the triclinic phase with less copper ($x$ $\leq$ 0.16) to 2.5-3.2 K in the tetragonal phase with more copper ($x$ $>$ 0.16). The specific-heat data suggested that doping-induced phonon softening was responsible for the enhanced superconductivity in the tetragonal phase. All of these obse…
In this letter, we show that a superconducting two-dimensional electron gas is formed at the LaTiO3/SrTiO3 interface whose transition temperature can be modulated by a back-gate voltage. The gas consists of two types of carriers : a majority of low-mobility carriers always present, and a few high-mobility ones that can be injected by electrostatic doping. The calculation of the electrons spatial distribution in the confinement potential shows that the high-mobility electrons responsible for superconductivity set at the edge of the gas whose extension can be tuned by field effect.
Using one-step solid state reaction method, we have successfully synthesized the superconductor SrFe1-xRuxAs. X-ray diffraction indicates that the material has formed the ThCr2Si2-type structure with a space group I4/mmm. The systematic evolution of the lattice constants demonstrates that the Fe ions are successfully replaced by the Ru. By increasing the doping content of Ru, the spin-density-wave (SDW) transition in the parent compound is suppressed and superconductivity emerges. The maximum superconducting transition temperature is found at 13.5 K with the doping level of x = 0.7. The temper…
We attempted Ce doping in La2CuO4 with the K2NiF4 (T) structure by molecular beam epitaxy. At low growth temperature and with an appropriate substrate choice, we found that Ce can be incorporated into the K2NiF4 lattice up to x ~ 0.06, which had not yet been realized in bulk synthesis. The doping of Ce makes T-La2-xCexCuO4 more insulating, which is in sharp contrast to Ce doping in La2CuO4 with the Nd2CuO4 structure, which makes the compounds superconducting. The observed smooth increase in resistivity from hole-doped side (T-La2-xSrxCuO4) to electron-doped side (T-La2-xCexCuO4) indicates that…
We report superconductivity in polycrystalline samples of the 1038-type compounds (Ca$_{1-x}$RE$_x$)$_{10}$(FeAs)$_{10}$(Pt$_3$As$_8$) up to T$_c$ = 35 K with RE = Y, La-Nd, Sm, Gd-Lu. The critical temperatures are independent of the trivalent rare earth element used, yielding an universal T$_c$($x$) phase diagram for electron doping in all these systems. The absence of superconductivity in Eu$^{2+}$ doped samples, as well as the close resemblance of (Ca$_{1-x}$RE$_x$)$_{10}$(FeAs)$_{10}$(Pt$_3$As$_8$) to the 1048 compound substantiate that the electron doping scenario in the RE-1038 and 1048 …
The effects of phosphorus doping on the structural and superconducting phase transitions of BaNi$_2$(As$_{1-x}$P$_x$)$_2$ were studied. The specific heat, resistivity, and magnetic susceptibility were measured. The results revealed an abrupt increase in the superconducting transition temperature ($T_c$) from 0.6 K in the triclinic phase (space group P$\bar{1}$) with less phosphorus (0 $\leq$ $x$ $\leq$ 0.067) to 3.3 K in the tetragonal phase (space group I4/mmm) with more phosphorus ($x$ $\geq$ 0.067). Our data analysis suggests that a doping-induced softening related to an in-plane Ni and As(…
Pd site doping effect on superconductivity was investigated in quasi-one-dimensional superconductor Nb2(Pd1-xRx)0.76S5 (R=Ir, Ag) by measuring resistivity, magnetic susceptibility and Hall effect. It was found that superconducting transition temperature (Tc) is firstly slightly enhanced by partial substitution of Pd with Ir and then it is suppressed gradually as Ir content increases further. Meanwhile Ag substitution quickly suppresses the system to a nonsuperconducting ground state. Hall effect measurements indicate the variations of charge carrier density caused by Ir or Ag doping. The estab…
We predict by first principles calculations that the recently prepared borophene is a pristine two-dimensional (2D) monolayer superconductor, in which the superconductivity can be significantly enhanced by strain and charge carrier doping. The intrinsic metallic ground state with high density of states at Fermi energy and strong Fermi surface nesting lead to sizeable electron-phonon coupling, making the freestanding borophene superconduct with $T_c$ close to 19.0 K. The tensile strain can increase $T_c$ to 27.4 K, while the hole doping can notably increase $T_c$ to 34.8 K. The results indicate…
By measuring the temperature dependence of the resistance, we investigated the effect of Cu doping on superconductivity (SC) in Cu-doped TaSe$_3$ in which the charge density wave (CDW) transition is induced by Cu doping. We observed an emergence of a region where the SC transition temperature ($T_\mathrm{C}$) decreased in samples with higher Cu concentrations and found that the region tended to expand with increasing Cu concentration. In addition, the temperature dependence of the upper critical field ($H_\mathrm{C2}$) of Cu-doped TaSe$_3$ was found to differ from that of pure TaSe$_3$. Based …
We report the effects of Ce substitution on structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of layered bismuth-chalcogenide La1-xCexOBiSSe (x = 0-0.9), which are newly obtained in this study. Metallic conductivity was observed for x > 0.1 because of electron carriers induced by mixed valence of Ce ions, as revealed by bond valence sum calculation and magnetization measurements. Zero resistivity and clear diamagnetic susceptibility were obtained for x = 0.2-0.6, indicating the emergence of bulk superconductivity in these compounds. Dome-shaped superconductivity phase diagram with the highest tr…
We synthesized a series of Nb$_{2}$Pd$_{1-x}$Ru$_{x}$S$_{5}$ polycrystalline samples by a solid-state reaction method and systematically investigated the Ru-doping effect on superconductivity by transport and magnetic measurements. It is found that superconductivity is enhanced with Ru doping and is quite robust upon disorder. Hall coefficient measurements indicate that the charge transport is dominated by hole-type charge carriers similar to the case of Ir doping, suggesting multi-band superconductivity. Upon Ru or Ir doping, \emph H$_{c2}$/$\emph T_c$ exhibits a significant enhancement, exce…
The recently discovered FeAs-based superconductors are a new, promising set of materials for both technological as well as basic research. They offer transition temperatures as high as 55 K as well as essentially isotropic and extremely large upper, superconducting critical fields in excess of 40 T at 20 K. In addition they may well provide insight into exotic superconductivity that extends beyond just FeAs-based superconductivity, perhaps even shedding light on the still perplexing CuO-based high-Tc materials. Whereas superconductivity can be induced in the RFeAsO (R = rare earth) and AEFe2As…
Following the discovery of superconductivity in an iron-based arsenide LaO1-xFxFeAs with a superconducting transition temperature (Tc) of 26 K[1], Tc was pushed up surprisingly to above 40 K by either applying pressure[2] or replacing La with Sm[3], Ce[4], Nd[5] and Pr[6]. The maximum Tc has climbed to 55 K, observed in SmO1-xFxFeAs[7, 8] and SmFeAsO1-x[9]. The value of Tc was found to increase with decreasing lattice parameters in LnFeAsO1-xFx (Ln stands for the lanthanide elements) at an apparently optimal doping level. However, the F- doping in GdFeAsO is particularly difficult[10,11] due t…
Doping effect of diamond nanoparticles on the superconducting properties of MgB2 bulk material has been studied. It is found that the superconducting transition temperature Tc of MgB2 is suppressed by the diamond-doping, however, the irreversibility field Hirr and the critical current density Jc are systematically enhanced. Microstructural analysis shows that the diamond-doped MgB2 superconductor consists of tightly-packed MgB2 nano-grains (~50-100 nm) with highly-dispersed and uniformly-distributed diamond nanoparticles (~10-20 nm) inside the grains. High density of dislocations and diamond n…
Using a combination of neutron, muon and synchrotron techniques we show how the magnetic state in NaFeAs can be tuned into superconductivity by replacing Fe by either Co or Ni. Electron count is the dominant factor, since Ni-doping has double the effect of Co-doping for the same doping level. We follow the structural, magnetic and superconducting properties as a function of doping to show how the superconducting state evolves, concluding that the addition of 0.1 electrons per Fe atom is sufficient to traverse the superconducting domain, and that magnetic order coexists with superconductivity a…
Through partial substitution of Sm by U in SmFeAsO, a different member of the family of iron-based superconductors was successfully synthesized. X-ray diffraction measurements show that the lattice constants along the a and c axes are both squeezed through U doping, indicating a successful substitution of U at the Sm site. The parent compound shows a strong resistivity anomaly near 150 K, associated with spin-density-wave instability.U doping suppresses this instability and leads to a transition to the superconducting state at temperatures up to 49 K. Magnetic measurements confirm the bulk sup…
Recent experiments have tuned the monolayer 1T'-WTe2 to be superconducting by electrostatic gating. Here, we theoretically study the phonon-mediated superconductivity in monolayer 1T'-WTe2 via charge doping. We reveal that the emergence of soft-mode phonons with specific momentum is crucial to give rise to the superconductivity in electron-doping regime, whereas no such soft-mode phonons and no superconductivity emerge in hole-doping regime. We also find a superconducting dome, which can be attributed to the change of Fermi surface nesting condition as electron doping. By taking into account t…
The effect of Co doping on supercoductivity of FeSe$_{0.4}$Te$_{0.6}$ single crystals is investigated. The superconducting transition temperature decreases linearly for Co doping with the rate -0.75 K/(Co %). On the other hand, the residual resistivity increase is less than 50 $/mu/Omega$cm for 4 % Co doping. These data are consistent with the sign changing interband scattering mechanism of superconductivity ($s_/pm$ symmetry).
Doping bismuth selenide (Bi2Se3) with elements such as copper and strontium (Sr) can induce superconductivity, making the doped materials interesting candidates to explore potential topological superconducting behaviors. It was thought that the superconductivity of doped Bi2Se3 was induced by dopant atoms intercalated in van der Waals gaps. However, several experiments have shown that the intercalation of dopant atoms may not necessarily make doped Bi2Se3 superconducting. Thus, the structural origin of superconductivity in doped Bi2Se3 remains an open question. Herein, we combined material syn…
Here we report a new class of superconductors prepared by high pressure synthesis in the quaternary family ReFeAsO1-delta (Re = Sm, Nd, Pr, Ce, La) without fluorine doping. The onset superconducting critical temperature (Tc) in these compounds increases with the reduction of Re atom size, and the highest Tc obtained so far is 55 K in SmFeAsO1-delta. For the NdFeAsO1-delta system with different oxygen concentration a dome-shaped phase diagram was found.
We report that Ce doping was achieved in La2CuO4 with the K2NiF4 (T) structure for the first time by molecular beam epitaxy. A synthesis temperature of as low as ~ 630C and an appropriate substrate choice, i.e., (001)LaSrGaO4 (a \~ 3.843 A), enebled us to incorporate Ce into K2NiF4 lattice and to obtain Ce-doped T-La2-xCexCuO4 up to x ~ 0.06. The doping of Ce makes T-La2CuO4 more insulating, which is in sharp contrast to Sr (or Ba) doping in T-La2CuO4, which make the compound metallic and superconducting. The observed smooth increase in resistivity from the hole-doped side (T-La2-xSrxCuO4) to …
We have successfully synthesized the fluoride-arsenide compounds Ca$_{1-x}$RE$_x$FeAsF (RE=Nd, Pr; x=0, 0.6). The x-ray powder diffraction confirmed that the main phases of our samples are Ca$_{1-x}$RE$_x$FeAsF with the ZrCuSiAs structure. By measuring resistivity, superconductivity was observed at 57.4 K in Nd-doped and 52.8 K in Pr-doped samples with x=0.6. Bulk superconductivity was also proved by the DC magnetization measurements in both samples. Hall effect measurements revealed hole-like charge carriers in the parent compound CaFeAsF with a clear resistivity anomaly below 118 K, while th…
Pressurized hydrogen-rich compounds, which could be viewed as precompressed metallic hydrogen, exhibit high superconductivity, thereby providing a viable route toward the discovery of high-temperature superconductors. Of particular interest is to search for high-temperature superconductors with low stable pressure in terms of pressure-stabilized hydrides. In this work, with the aim of obtaining high-temperature superconducting compounds at low pressure, we attempt to study the doping effects for high-temperature superconductive $ \mathrm{H_3S} $ with supercells up to 64 atoms using first princ…
The weak van der Waals interlayer interactions in the transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) materials have created a rich platform to study their exotic electronic properties through chemical doping or physical gating techniques. We reported bulk superconductivity up to 7.6 K through careful manipulation of the charge carrier density and interlayer spacing d in the chemically intercalated two dimensional 1T-SnSe2 phase. We found, for the first time in the two dimensional SnSe2, that polar organic molecules cointercalated with the alkali metal Li into the basal layers, thus significantly enhanc…
In the electron doped compounds SrFe_(2-x)Co_xAs_2 superconductivity with T_c up to 20 K is observed for 0.2 < x < 0.4. Results of structure determination, magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, and specific heat are reported. The observation of bulk superconductivity in all thermodynamic properties -- despite strong disorder in the Fe-As layer -- favors an itinerant picture in contrast to the cuprates and renders a p- or d-wave scenario unlikely. DFT calculations find that the substitution of Fe by Co (x > 0.3) leads to the suppression of the magnetic ordering present in SrFe_2As_2 …
The enhanced superconductivity in monolayer FeSe on titanates opens a fascinating pathway towards the rational design of high-temperature superconductors. Utilizing the state-of-the-art oxide plus chalcogenide molecular beam epitaxy systems in situ connected to a synchrotron angle-resolved photoemission spectroscope, epitaxial LaTiO3 layers with varied atomic thicknesses are inserted between monolayer FeSe and SrTiO3, for systematic modulation of interfacial chemical potential. With the dramatic increase of electron accumulation at the LaTiO3-SrTiO3 surface, providing a substantial surge of wor…
The pseudogap (PG) excitations in the framework of multiband superconductivity are analysed. Calculations for the doping phase diagram of electron-doped cuprate superconductors have been made. A nonrigid multiband model has been used. The interband pairing acts between the upper Hubbard band (UHB) and midgap states created (and shifted upwards) by doping. The appearance of two PG and two phase diagram critical points (CP) is suggested. The larger antinodal PG reflects the destruction of the long-range antiferromagnetic (AF) order. The second, smaller PG is a near-nodal event with exposed dopin…
A variational Monte Carlo calculation is used for studying the ground state of the two-dimensional Hubbard model, including hopping between both nearest and next-nearest neighbor sites. Superconductivity with d-wave symmetry is found to be restricted to densities where the Fermi surface crosses the magnetic zone boundary. The condensate energy is much larger for hole doping than for electron doping. Superconductivity is kinetic energy driven for hole doping, but potential energy driven for electron doping. Our findings agree surprisingly well with experimental data for layered cuprates, both f…
We have studied EuFe$_{2}$(As$_{0.7}$P$_{0.3}$)$_{2}$ by the measurements of x-ray diffraction, electrical resistivity, thermopower, magnetic susceptibility, magnetoresistance and specific heat. Partial substitution of As with P results in the shrinkage of lattice, which generates chemical pressure to the system. It is found that EuFe$_{2}$(As$_{0.7}$P$_{0.3}$)$_{2}$ undergoes a superconducting transition at 26 K, followed by ferromagnetic ordering of Eu$^{2+}$ moments at 20 K. This finding is the first observation of superconductivity stabilized by internal chemical pressure, and supplies a r…
We consider an extended Hubbard model with nearest-neighbor correlated hopping and next nearest-neighbor hopping t' obtained as an effective model for cuprate superconductors. Using a generalized Hartree-Fock BCS approximation, we find that for high enough t' and doping, antiferromagnetism is destroyed and the system exhibits d-wave superconductivity. Near optimal doping we consider the effect of antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations on the normal self-energy using a phenomenological susceptibility. The resulting superconducting critical temperature as a function of doping is in good agreement w…
The interplay between the band Jahn-Teller distortion and the superconductivity is studied for the system whose Fermi level lies in two-fold degenerate band. Assuming that the lattice distortion is coupled to the orbital electron density and the superconductivity arises due to BCS pairing mechanism between the electrons, the phase diagram is obtained for different doping with respect to half-filled band situation. The coexistence phase of superconductivity and distortion occurs within limited range of doping and the distortion lowers the superconducting transition temperature $T_c$. In presenc…
Low energy spin fluctuations are studied for the electron-doped Fe-based superconductor LaFeAsO(1-x)F(x) by inelastic neutron scattering up to the energy transfer of w = 15 meV using polycrystalline samples. Superconducting samples (x=0.057, Tc=25 K and x=0.082, Tc=29 K) show dynamical spin susceptibility chi"(w) almost comparable with the parent sample's. However chi"(w) is almost vanished in the x=0.158 sample where the superconductivity is highly suppressed. These results are compatible with the theoretical suggestions that the spin fluctuation plays an important role for the superconductiv…
By using solid state reaction method we have fabricated the hole doped $La_{1-x}Sr_xFeAsO$ superconductors with Sr content up to 0.13. It is found that the sharp anomaly at about 150 K and the low temperature upturn of resistivity are suppressed by doping holes into the parent phase. Interestingly both the superconducting transition temperature $T_c$ and the lattice constants (a-axis and c-axis) increase monotonously with hole concentration, in sharp contrast with the electron doped side where the $T_c$ increases with a continuing shrinkage of the lattice constants either by dope more fluorine…
The Ca10(PtnAs8)(Fe2As2)5 (n=3,4) compounds are a new type of iron pnictide superconductors whose structures consist of stacking Ca-PtnAs8-Ca-Fe2As2 layers in a unit cell. When n=3 (the 10-3-8 phase), the undoped compound is an antiferromagnetic (AFM) semiconductor, while, when n=4 (the 10-4-8 phase), the undoped compound is a superconductor with the transition temperature of 26K. Here we report the results of high-pressure studies on the 10-3-8 compound obtained through a combination of in-situ resistance, magnetic susceptibility, and Hall coefficient measurements. We find that its AFM order …
The newly discovered Kagome superconductors $A$V$_3$Sb$_5$ ($A$ = K, Rb, Cs) exhibit superconductivity, charge order, and band topology simultaneously. To explore the intricate interplay between the superconducting and charge orders, we investigate the doping evolution of superconductivity, charge-density-wave (CDW) order, and band topology in doped topological kagome superconductors Cs(V$_{1-x}$Ti$_x$)$_3$Sb$_5$ where the Ti-dopant introduces hole-like charge carriers. Despite the absence of the CDW phase transition in doped compounds even for the lowest doping level of $x=0.047$, the superco…
Single crystals of the layered superconductor Bi2Sr2(Ca1-xLax)Cu2O8+d were successfully grown out by a self-flux method. Upon La-doping, the c-axis contracts but the structure remains stable up to the critical concentration xc, above which the crystals contain the pure Bi2(Sr,La)2CuO6 phase. The reduction of the superconducting transition temperature follows a linear relation, Tc(x)=Tc(0) (1-x/xc), with xc=0.3 being consistent with the structure data. This and a comparison with literature data on Pr3+- (xc>>0.65) and Y3+-doping (xc=1) indicate an intimate relation between structural and superc…
A comprehensive first principles study on the electronic topological transition in a number of 122 family of Fe based superconductors is presented. Doping as well as temperature driven Lifshitz transitions are found from first principles simulations in a variety of Fe based superconductors that are consistent with experimental findings. In all the studied compounds the Lifshitz transitions are consistently found to occur at a doping concentration where superconductivity is highest and magnetism disappears. Systematically, the Lifshitz transition occurs in the electron Fermi surfaces for hole d…
Unlike the widely studied ReFeAsO series, the newly discovered iron-based superconductor ThFeAsN exhibits a remarkably high critical temperature of 30 K, without chemical doping or external pressure. Here we investigate in detail its magnetic and superconducting properties via muon-spin rotation/relaxation ($μ$SR) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques and show that ThFeAsN exhibits strong magnetic fluctuations, suppressed below 35 K, but no magnetic order. This contrasts strongly with the ReFeAsO series, where stoichiometric parent materials order antiferromagnetically and supercondu…
We have investigated the superconductivity discovered in boron (B)-doped diamonds by means of 11B-NMR on heteroepitaxially grown (111) and (100) films. 11B-NMR spectra for all of the films are identified to arise from the substitutional B(1) site as single occupation and lower symmetric B(2) site substituted as boron+hydrogen(B+H) complex, respectively. A clear evidence is presented that the effective carriers introduced by B(1) substitution are responsible for the superconductivity, whereas the charge neutral B(2) sites does not offer the carriers effectively. The result is also corroborated …
A simple model to describe the energetic phase diagram of electron-doped cuprate superconductor is developed. Interband pairing operates between the UHB and the defect states created by doping and supplied by both extincting HB-s. Two defect subbands correspond to the ($π, 0$) and ($π/2,π/2$) momentum regions. Extended doping quenches the bare normal state gaps (pseudogaps). Maximal transition temperature corresponds to overlapping bands ensemble intersected by the chemical potential. Illustrative results for $T_c$, pseudo- and superconducting gaps are calculated on the whole doping scale. Maj…
Zero temperature crossover from superfluidity to superconductivity with carrier density increasing is studied for a two-dimensional system in the s-wave and d-wave pairing channels. It was assumed that the particle attraction correlation length depends on carrier density $n_f$ as $r_0\sim1/\sqrt{n_f}$. Such a dependence was found experimentally for the radius of magnetic correlations in $La_{2-x}Sr_xCuO_4$. The short range Coulomb repulsion was also taken into account. It is shown that the behaviour of the system with doping is fundamentally different from the case with $r_0(n_f)=const$. In pa…
We report the effect of Pt doping on the superconductivity in CuRh2Se4 spinel using a combined experimental and theoretical study. Our XRD results reveal that the Cu(Rh1-xPtx)2Se4 crystallizes in the structure with a space group of Fd3-m (No. 227), and the lattice parameter a increases with Pt doping. The resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measurement results verify that the superconducting transition temperature (Tc) forms a dome-like shape with a maximum value of 3.84 K at x = 0.06. It is also observed that the Pt-doping slightly reduces the lower critical magnetic field from 220 Oe in …
