In this paper, we study an initial boundary value problem for a generalized Camassa-Holm equation. We establish local well-posedness of this closed-loop system by using Kato theorem for abstract quasilinear evolution equation of hyperbolic type. Then, by using multiplier technique, we obtain a conservation law which enable us to present a blow-up result.
In this paper, we analyze the dynamics of a generalized Rotation-Camassa-Holm equation, which is the $θ$-equation augmented with the Coriolis effect, induced by the earth rotation. The generalized Rotation-Camassa-Holm equation (named as Rotation-$θ$ equation) is a generalization of a family of models (including the Rotation-Camassa-Holm equation for $θ=\frac{1}{3}$, asymptotic Rotation-Camassa-Holm equation for $θ=1$ and the Rotation-Degasperis-Procesi (DP) equation for $θ=\frac{1}{4}$). Our study is conducted via the bifurcation method and qualitative theory of dynamical systems. The existen…
This paper is concerned with the existence and uniqueness of global weak solutions to a generalized Camassa-Holm equation on real line. By introducing some new variables, the equation is transformed into two different semi-linear systems. Then the existence and uniqueness of global weak solutions to the original equation are obtained from that of the two semi-linear systems, respectively.
We establish the uniqueness of solutions of the Camassa-Holm equation on a finite interval with non-homogeneous boundary conditions in the case of bounded momentum. A similar result for the higher-order Camassa-Holm system is also given. Our proofs rely on energy-type methods, with some multipliers given as solutions of some auxiliary elliptic systems.
Integrable invariant Sobolev metrics on the Abelian extension of the diffeomorphism group of the circle and two-component generalizations of the Camassa-Holm equation
In the present paper, we are concerned with integrable discretization of a modified Camassa-Holm equation with linear dispersion term. The key of the construction is the semi-discrete analogue for a set of bilinear equations of the modified Camassa-Holm equation. Firstly, we show that these bilinear equations and their determinant solutions either in Gram-type or Casorati-type can be reduced from the discrete KP equation through Miwa transformation. Then, by scrutinizing the reduction process, we obtain a set of semi-discrete bilinear equations and their general soliton solution in Gram-type o…
We construct a new series of multicomponent integrable PDE systems that contain as particular example (with appropriately chosen parameters) many famous integrable systems including KdV, coupled KdV, Harry Dym, coupled Harry Dym, Camassa-Holm, multicomponent Camassa-Holm, Kaup-Boussinesq systems. The series contains also integrable systems with no low-component analogues.
A non-local evolution equation of the Camassa-Holm type with dissipation is considered. The local well-posedness of the solutions of the Cauchy problem involving the equation is established via Kato's approach and the wave breaking scenario is also described. To prove such result, we firstly construct conserved currents for the equation and from them, conserved quantities.
The paper aims at developing the Riemann-Hilbert (RH) approach for the modified Camassa-Holm (mCH) equation on the line with non-zero boundary conditions, in the case when the solution is assumed to approach two different constants at different sides of the line. We present detailed properties of spectral functions associated with the initial data for the Cauchy problem for the mCH equation and obtain a representation for the solution of this problem in terms of the solution of an associated RH problem.
Peaked periodic waves in the Camassa-Holm equation are revisited. Linearized evolution equations are derived for perturbations to the peaked periodic waves and linearized instability is proven both in $H^1$ and $W^{1,\infty}$ norms. Dynamics of perturbations in $H^1$ is related to the existence of two conserved quantities and is bounded in the full nonlinear system due to these conserved quantities. On the other hand, perturbations to the peaked periodic wave grow in $W^{1,\infty}$ norm and may blow up in a finite time in the nonlinear evolution of the Camassa-Holm equation.
It is well-known that peakons in the Camassa-Holm equation are $H^1$-orbitally stable thanks to the presence of conserved quantities and properties of peakons as constrained energy minimizers. By using the method of characteristics, we prove that piecewise $C^1$ perturbations to peakons grow in time in spite of their stability in the $H^1$-norm. We also show that the linearized stability analysis near peakons contradicts the $H^1$-orbital stability result, hence passage from linear to nonlinear theory is false in $H^1$.
