We study all possible deformations of the Maxwell algebra. In D=d+1\neq 3 dimensions there is only one-parameter deformation. The deformed algebra is isomorphic to so(d+1,1)\oplus so(d,1) or to so(d,2)\oplus so(d,1) depending on the signs of the deformation parameter. We construct in the dS(AdS) space a model of massive particle interacting with Abelian vector field via non-local Lorentz force. In D=2+1 the deformations depend on two parameters b and k. We construct a phase diagram, with two parts of the (b,k) plane with so(3,1)\oplus so(2,1) and so(2,2)\oplus so(2,1) algebras separated by a critical curve along which the algebra is isomorphic to Iso(2,1)\oplus so(2,1). We introduce in D=2+1 the Volkov-Akulov type model for a Abelian Goldstone-Nambu vector field described by a non-linear action containing as its bilinear term the free Chern-Simons Lagrangean.
A necessary condition for partial breaking of N=2 global supersymmetry is the presence of nonlinear deformations of the field transformations which cannot be generated by background values of auxiliary fields. This work studies the simplest of these deformations which already occurs in N=1 global supersymmetry, and its coupling to supergravity. It can be viewed as an imaginary constant shift of the D-auxiliary real field of an abelian gauge multiplet. We show how this deformation describes the magnetic dual of a Fayet-Iliopoulos term, a result that remains valid in supergravity, using its new-…
In this paper, the Maxwell extension of the special-affine algebra is obtained and corresponding non-linear realization is constructed. We give also the differential realization of the generators of the extended symmetry. Moreover, we present the gauge theory of the Maxwell special-affine algebra and the topological gravity action in four dimensions. As a conclusion, we show that the Bianchi identities can be found by using the solution of the equations of motion.
$T\overline{T}$-deformed two-dimensional quantum Maxwell theory on the torus is examined, taking into account nonperturbative effects in the deformation parameter $μ$. We study the deformed partition function solving the relevant flow equation at the level of individual flux sectors. Summing exactly the "instanton" series, we obtain a well-defined expression for the partition function at arbitrary $μ$. For $μ>0$, the quantum spectrum of the theory experiences a truncation, the partition function reducing to a sum over a finite set of positive-energy states. For $μ<0$ instead, the appearance of…

We show that the strongly coupled field theory holographically dual to the Gubser-Rocha anti-de-Sitter Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton theory describes not a single non-trivial AdS$_2$ IR fixed point, but a one-parameter family. It is dual to a local quantum critical phase instead of a quantum critical point. This result follows from a detailed analysis of the possible quantizations of the gravitational theory that is consistent with the thermodynamics of the analytical Gubser-Rocha black hole solution. The analytic Gubser-Rocha black hole is only a 2-parameter subset of all possible solutions, and w…
We present a three-dimensional Chern-Simons gravity based on a deformation of the Maxwell algebra. This symmetry allows introduction of a non-vanishing torsion to the Maxwell Chern-Simons theory, whose action recovers the Mielke-Baelker model for particular values of the coupling constants. By considering suitable boundary conditions, we show that the asymptotic symmetry is given by the $\widehat{\mathfrak{bms}}_3\oplus\mathfrak{vir}$ algebra with three independent central charges.
This thesis is devoted to the study of the deformation and rigidity of infinite dimensional Lie algebras which are not subject to the Hochschild-Serre factorization theorem. In particular, we consider $bms_{3}$, Virasoro-Kac-Moody and $bms_{4}$ algebras and their central extensions which are respectively obtained as asymptotic and/or near horizon symmetry algebras for Einstein gravity on $3d$ flat, AdS$_{3}$ and $4d$ flat spacetimes. We also explore possible deformations of the Maxwell-BMS algebra, which is obtained as asymptotic symmetry algebra of the Chern-Simons gravity theory invariant un…
In this work we present different infinite dimensional algebras which appear as deformations of the asymptotic symmetry of the three-dimensional Chern-Simons gravity for the Maxwell algebra. We study rigidity and stability of the infinite dimensional enhancement of the Maxwell algebra. In particular, we show that three copies of the Witt algebra and the BMS3+Witt algebra are obtained by deforming its ideal part. New family of infinite dimensional algebras are obtained by considering deformations of the other commutators which we have denoted as M(a,b;c,d) and \bar{M}(\barα,\barβ;\barν). Intere…
We determine all infinitesimal transverse deformations of extreme horizons in Einstein-Maxwell theory that preserve axisymmetry. In particular, we show that the general static transverse deformation of the AdS(2) X S(2) near-horizon geometry is a two-parameter family, which contains the known extreme charged, accelerating, static black hole solution held in equilibrium by an external electric or magnetic field (Ernst solution) and a special case of the extreme Kerr-Newman-Melvin solution. More generally, we find a three-parameter family of deformations of the extreme Kerr-Newman horizon, which…
We recast the joint $J\bar{T}$, $T\bar{J}$ and $T\bar{T}$ deformations as coupling the original theory to a mixture of topological gravity and gauge theory. This geometrizes the general flow triggered by irrelevant deformations built out of conserved currents and the stress-energy tensor, by means of a path integral kernel. The partition function of the deformed theory satisfies a diffusion-like flow equation similar to that found in the pure $T\bar{T}$ case. Our proposal passes two stringent tests. Firstly, we recover the classical deformed actions from the kernel, reproducing the known expre…

We study a three-dimensional Chern-Simons gravity theory based on the Maxwell algebra. We find that the boundary dynamics is described by an enlargement and deformation of the $\mathfrak{bms}_3$ algebra with three independent central charges. This symmetry arises from a gravity action invariant under the local Maxwell group and is characterized by presence of Abelian generators which modify the commutation relations of the super-translations in the standard $\mathfrak{bms}_3$ algebra. Our analysis is based on the charge algebra of the theory in the BMS gauge, which includes the known solutions…
Ultrahigh-energy cosmic-ray bounds on nonbirefringent modified-Maxwell theory
Rev. D 77,117901(2008),arXiv:0806.4351]。
