Is the closest product state to a symmetric entangled multiparticle state also symmetric? This question has appeared in the recent literature concerning the geometric measure of entanglement. First, we show that a positive answer can be derived from results concerning symmetric multilinear forms and homogeneous polynomials, implying that the closest product state can be chosen to be symmetric. We then prove the stronger result that the closest product state to any symmetric multiparticle quantum state is necessarily symmetric. Moreover, we discuss generalizations of our result and the case of translationally invariant states, which can occur in spin models.
We show that the quantification of entanglement of any rank-2 state with any polynomial entanglement measure can be recast as a geometric problem on the corresponding Bloch sphere. This approach provides novel insight into the properties of entanglement and allows us to relate different polynomial measures to each other, simplifying their quantification. In particular, unveiling and exploiting the geometric structure of the concurrence for two qubits, we show that the convex roof of any polynomial measure of entanglement can be quantified exactly for all rank-2 states of an arbitrary number of…
We give a simple formula for finding the spectral norm of d-mode symmetric tensor in two variables over the complex or real numbers in terms of the complex or real roots of a corresponding polynomial in one complex variable. This result implies that the geometric measure of entanglement of symmetric d-qubits is polynomial-time computable. We discuss a generalization to d-mode symmetric tensor in more than two variables.
Collective spin operators for symmetric multi-quDit (namely, identical $D$-level atom) systems generate a U$(D)$ symmetry. We explore generalizations to arbitrary $D$ of SU(2)-spin coherent states and their adaptation to parity (multicomponent Schrödinger cats), together with multi-mode extensions of NOON states. We write level, one- and two-quDit reduced density matrices of symmetric $N$-quDit states, expressed in the last two cases in terms of collective U$(D)$-spin operator expectation values. Then we evaluate level and particle entanglement for symmetric multi-quDit states with linear and …
The purpose of this paper is to study the problem of computing unitary eigenvalues (U-eigenvalues) of non-symmetric complex tensors. By means of symmetric embedding of complex tensors, the relationship between U-eigenpairs of a non-symmetric complex tensor and unitary symmetric eigenpairs (US-eigenpairs) of its symmetric embedding tensor is established. An algorithm (Algorithm \ref{algo:1}) is given to compute the U-eigenvalues of non-symmetric complex tensors by means of symmetric embedding. Another algorithm, Algorithm \ref{algo:2}, is proposed to directly compute the U-eigenvalues of non-sy…
This article elaborates on entanglement entropy and quantum information theory of geometric flows of (relativistic) Lagrange--Hamilton mechanical systems. A set of basic geometric and quantum mechanics and probability concepts together with methods of computation are developed in general covariant form for curved phase spaces modelled as cotangent Lorentz bundles. The constructions are based on ideas relating the Grigory Perelman's entropy for geometric flows and associated statistical thermodynamic systems to the quantum von Neumann entropy, classical and quantum relative and conditional entr…
We propose entanglement criteria for multipartite systems via symmetric informationally complete (SIC) measurement and general symmetric informationally complete (GSIC) measurement. We apply these criteria to detect entanglement of multipartite states, such as the convex of Bell states, entangled states mixed with white noise. It is shown that these criteria are stronger than some existing ones.
To characterize entanglement of tripartite $\mathbb{C}^d\otimes\mathbb{C}^d\otimes\mathbb{C}^d$ systems, we employ algebraic-geometric tools that are invariants under Stochastic Local Operation and Classical Communication (SLOCC), namely $k$-secant varieties and one-multilinear ranks. Indeed, by means of them, we present a classification of tripartite pure states in terms of a finite number of families and subfamilies. At the core of it stands out a fine-structure grouping of three-qutrit entanglement.
We study entanglement witness and present a construction of entanglement witnesses in terms of the symmetric informationally complete measurements (SIC-POVM). The capability of our witness is shown by some examples and it can be found this witness detects more entanglement than previous separability method given also by SIC-POVM. What's more, comparing with the dimension dependence of SIC-POVM, we also give the entanglement witnesses can be always constructed from general symmetric informationally complete measurements (GSIC-POVM).
We introduce and explore two questions concerning spectra of operators that are of interest in the theory of entanglement in symmetric (i.e., bosonic) quantum systems. First, we investigate the inverse eigenvalue problem for symmetric entanglement witnesses -- that is, we investigate what their possible spectra are. Second, we investigate the problem of characterizing which separable symmetric quantum states remain separable after conjugation by an arbitrary unitary acting on symmetric space -- that is, which states are separable in every orthonormal symmetric basis. Both of these questions ha…
In the past years, many efforts have been made to study various noteworthy phenomena in both parity-time ($\mathcal{PT}$) and anti-parity-time ($\mathcal{APT}$) symmetric systems. However, entanglement dynamics in $\mathcal{APT}$-symmetric systems has not previously been investigated in both theory and experiments. Here, we investigate the entanglement evolution of two qubits in an $\mathcal{APT}$-symmetric system. In the $\mathcal{APT}$-symmetric unbroken regime, our theoretical simulations demonstrate the periodic oscillations of entanglement when each qubit evolves identically, while the no…
We study the quantum separability problem by using general symmetric informationally complete measurements and present a separability criterion for arbitrary dimensional bipartite systems. We show by detailed examples that our criterion is more powerful than the existing ones in entanglement detection.
This work aims to understand the monogamy of quantum entanglement from a geometrical point of view. By regarding quantum entanglement as a geometrical structure on the state space of quantum systems and attributing all entanglement related properties as emergent from this geometry of entanglement, we assume there exists a genuine general monogamous relation of quantum entanglement w.r.t. a correspondent genuine entanglement measure Q* which possesses an underlying geometrical origin. We speculate that the monogamous relations w.r.t. an entanglement measure Q can be understood by comparing the …
Entanglement plays a central role in the field of quantum information science. It is well known that the degree of entanglement cannot be increased under local operations. Here, we show that the concurrence of a bipartite entangled state can be increased under the local PT -symmetric operation. This violates the property of entanglement monotonicity. We also use the Bell-CHSH and steering inequalities to explore this phenomenon.
We show that a special type of measurements, called symmetric informationally complete positive operator-valued measures (SIC POVMs), provide a stronger entanglement detection criterion than the computable cross-norm or realignment criterion based on local orthogonal observables. As an illustration, we demonstrate the enhanced entanglement detection power in simple systems of qubit and qutrit pairs. This observation highlights the significance of SIC POVMs for entanglement detection.
We introduce an operational entanglement classification of symmetric mixed states for an arbitrary number of qubits based on stochastic local operations assisted with classical communication (SLOCC operations). We define families of SLOCC entanglement classes successively embedded into each other, we prove that they are of non-zero measure, and we construct witness operators to distinguish them. Moreover, we discuss how arbitrary symmetric mixed states can be realized in the lab via a one-to-one correspondence between well-defined sets of controllable parameters and the corresponding entanglem…
With a two step optimization method of entanglement witness, we analytically propose a set of necessary and sufficient entanglement criteria for four qubit symmetric Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) diagonal states. The criterion set contains four criteria. Two of them are linear with density matrix elements. The other two criteria are nonlinear with density matrix elements. The criterion set has a nest structure. A proper subset of the criteria is necessary and sufficient for the entanglement of a proper subset of the states. We illustrate the nest structure of criterion set with the general…

I numerically simulate and compare the entanglement of two quanta using the conventional formulation of quantum mechanics and a time-symmetric formulation that has no collapse postulate. The experimental predictions of the two formulations are identical, but the entanglement predictions are significantly different. The time-symmetric formulation reveals an experimentally testable discrepancy in the original quantum analysis of the Hanbury Brown-Twiss experiment, suggests solutions to some parts of the nonlocality and measurement problems, fixes known time asymmetries in the conventional formul…
