We describe the scaling limit of the nearest neighbour prudent walk on the square lattice, which performs steps uniformly in directions in which it does not see sites already visited. We show that the scaling limit is given by the process Z(u) = s_1 theta^+(3u/7) e_1 + s_2 theta^-(3u/7) e_2, where e_1, e_2 is the canonical basis, theta^+(t), resp. theta^-(t), is the time spent by a one-dimensional Brownian motion above, resp. below, 0 up to time t, and s_1, s_2 are two random signs. In particular, the asymptotic speed of the walk is well-defined in the L^1-norm and equals 3/7.
Baxter permutations, plane bipolar orientations, and a specific family of walks in the non-negative quadrant are well-known to be related to each other through several bijections. We introduce a further new family of discrete objects, called coalescent-walk processes, that are fundamental for our results. We relate these new objects with the other previously mentioned families introducing some new bijections. We prove joint Benjamini--Schramm convergence (both in the annealed and quenched sense) for uniform objects in the four families. Furthermore, we explicitly construct a new fractal random…
We establish scaling limits for the random walk whose state space is the range of a simple random walk on the four-dimensional integer lattice. These concern the asymptotic behaviour of the graph distance from the origin and the spatial location of the random walk in question. The limiting processes are the analogues of those for higher-dimensional versions of the model, but additional logarithmic terms in the scaling factors are needed to see these. The proof applies recently developed machinery relating the scaling of resistance metric spaces and stochastic processes, with key inputs being n…
We prove the existence of scaling limits for the projection on the backbone of the random walks on the Incipient Infinite Cluster and the Invasion Percolation Cluster on a regular tree. We treat these projected random walks as randomly trapped random walks (as defined in [BCČR15]) and thus describe these scaling limits as spatially subordinated Brownian motions
Let $β$ be the growth exponent of the loop-erased random walk (LERW) in three dimensions. We prove that the scaling limit of 3D LERW is $h$-Hölder continuous almost surely for all $h < 1/β$, while not $1/β$-Hölder continuous almost surely.
We consider a random walk on a Galton-Watson tree in random environment, in the subdiffusive case. We prove the convergence of the renormalised height function of the walk towards the continuous-time height process of a spectrally positive strictly stable Lévy process, jointly with the convergence of the renormalised range of the walk towards the real tree coded by the latter continuous-time height process.
In this paper, we consider Szegedy's walk, a type of discrete time quantum walk, and corresponding continuous time quantum walk related to the birth and death chain. We show that the scaling limit of time averaged distribution for the continuous time quantum walk induces that of Szegedy's walk if there exists the spectral gap on so-called the corresponding Jacobi matrix .
In this paper we investigate the asymptotic properties of the wait-first and jump-first Lévy walk with rest, which is a generalization of standard jump-first and jump-first Lévy walk that assumes each waiting time in the model is a sum of two positive random variables. We investigate the asymptotic properties of the theses new-type waiting times. Next we use the previous results of this paper together with continuous mapping approach to establish the main result, which is a functional convergence in Skorokhod $\mathbb{J}_1$ topology for the Lévy walks with rests.
If the drift decays quickly as we rescale the walks, we obtain the F.I.N. diffusion as scaling limit. There is a critical speed of decay separating these two main regimes, where a new process appears as scaling limit. This critical speed is related to the index $ α$的逆。
Branching-stable processes have recently appeared as counterparts of stable subordinators, when addition of real variables is replaced by branching mechanism for point processes. Here, we are interested in their domains of attraction and describe explicit conditions for a branching random walk to converge after a proper magnification to a branching-stable process. This contrasts with deep results that have been obtained during the last decade on the asymptotic behavior of branching random walks and which involve either shifting without rescaling, or demagnification.
Let $S$ be the random walk obtained from "coin turning" with some sequence $\{p_n\}_{n\ge 1}$, as introduced in [6]. In this paper we investigate the scaling limits of $S$ in the spirit of the classical Donsker invariance principle, both for the heating and for the cooling dynamics. We prove that an invariance principle, albeit with a non-classical scaling, holds for "not too small" sequences, the order const$\cdot n^{-1}$ (critical cooling regime) being the threshold. At and below this critical order, the scaling behavior is dramatically different from the one above it. The same order is also…
In this article we study a one dimensional model for a polymer in a poor solvent: the random walk on $\mathbb{Z}$ penalized by its range. More precisely, we consider a Gibbs transformation of the law of the simple symmmetric random walk by a weight $\exp(-h_n|R_n|)$, with $|R_n|$ the number of visited sites and $h_n$ a size-dependent positive parameter. We use gambler's ruin estimates to obtain exact asymptotics for the partition function, that enables us to obtain a precise description of trajectories, in particular scaling limits for the center and the amplitude of the range. A phase transit…
For an integer $k\ge 2$, let $S^{(1)}, S^{(2)}, \dots, S^{(k)}$ be $k$ independent simple symmetric random walks on $\mathbb{Z}$. A pair $(n,z)$ is called a collision event if there are at least two distinct random walks, namely, $S^{(i)},S^{(j)}$ satisfying $S^{(i)}_n= S^{(j)}_n=z$. We show that under the same scaling as in Donsker's theorem, the sequence of random measures representing these collision events converges to a non-trivial random measure on $[0,1]\times \mathbb{R}$. Moreover, the limit random measure can be characterized using Wiener chaos. The proof is inspired by methods from s…
We study the convergence in rough path topology of a certain class of discrete processes, the hidden Markov walks, to a Brownian motion with an area anomaly. This area anomaly, which is a new object, keeps track of the time-correlation of the discrete models and brings into light the question of embeddings of discrete processes into continuous time. We also identify an underlying combinatorial structure in the hidden Markov walks, which turns out to be a generalization of the occupation time from the classical ergodic theorem in the spirit of rough paths.
In this paper, we study the scaling limit of a class of random walks which behave like simple random walks outside of a bounded region around the origin and which are subject to a partial reflection near the origin. If the probability of crossing the barrier scales as $ 1/\sqrt{n} $ as we rescale space by $ \sqrt{n} $ and time by $ n $, we obtain a non trivial scaling limit which behaves like reflected Brownian motion until its local time at the origin reaches an independent exponential variable. It then follows reflected Brownian motion on the other side of the origin until its local time at …
