We construct twisted instanton solutions of CP(n) models. Generically a charge-k instanton splits into k(n+1) well-separated and almost static constituents carrying fractional topological charges and being ordered along the noncompact direction. The locations, sizes and charges of the constituents are related to the moduli parameters of the instantons. We sketch how solutions with fractional total charge can be obtained. We also calculate the fermionic zero modes with quasi-periodic boundary conditions in the background of twisted instantons for minimally and supersymmetrically coupled fermions. The zero modes are tracers for the constituents and show a characteristic hopping. The analytical findings are compared to results extracted from Monte-Carlo generated and cooled configurations of the corresponding lattice models. Analytical and numerical results are in full agreement and it is demonstrated that the fermionic zero modes are excellent filters for constituents hidden in fluctuating lattice configurations.

We demonstrate the existence of a broad class of non-perturbative fermionic solutions to the Euclidean supergravity equations of motion, which are half-BPS and nonsingular, possess zero action, and obey an (anti)self-duality condition. These are identified as fermionic instantons associated to the status of the gravitino as the gauge field of local supersymmetry. By explicitly constructing these configurations from combinations of (anti)self-dual Yang-Mills gauge fields and Killing spinors, we may leverage the ADHM method and generalisations thereof to provide all possible solutions on certain…
We study the fermionic zero modes around 1 instanton operators for 5d supersymmetric gauge theories of type USp, SO and the exceptional groups. The major motivation is to try to understand the global symmetry enhancement pattern in these theories.
We use string field theory to fix the normalization of the D-instanton corrections to the superpotential involving the moduli fields of type II string theory compactified on an orientifold of a Calabi-Yau threefold in the absence of fluxes. We focus on $O(1)$ instantons whose only zero modes are the four bosonic modes associated with translation of the instanton in non-compact directions and a pair of fermionic zero modes associated with the two supercharges broken by the instanton. We work with a generic superconformal field theory and express our answer in terms of the spectrum of open strin…
Compact quantum electrodynamics (CQED$_3$) with Dirac fermionic matter provides an adequate framework for elucidating the universal low-energy physics of a wide variety of (2+1)D strongly correlated systems. Fractionalized states of matter correspond to its deconfined phases, where the gauge field is effectively noncompact, while conventional broken-symmetry phases are associated with confinement triggered by the proliferation of monopole-instantons. While much attention has been devoted lately to the symmetry classification of monopole operators in massless CQED$_3$ and related 3D conformal f…
The Bethe-Salpeter equation for two-body bound system with spin $1/2$ constituent is addressed directly in the Minkowski space. In order to accomplish this aim we use the Nakanishi integral representation of the Bethe-Salpeter amplitude and exploit the formal tool represented by the exact projection onto the null-plane. This formal step allows one i) to deal with end-point singularities one meets and ii) to find stable results, up to strongly relativistic regimes, that settles in strongly bound systems. We apply this technique to obtain the numerical dependence of the binding energies upon the…
