The boson mass spectrum of the electro-weak \textbf{$SU(4)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{Y}$} model with exotic electric charges is investigated by using the algebraical approach supplied by the method of exactly solving gauge models with high symmetries. Our approach predicts for the boson sector a one-parameter mass scale to be tuned in order to match the data obtained at LHC, LEP, CDF.
A phenomenological analysis of the three-family model based on the local gauge group $SU(3)_c\otimes SU(3)_L\otimes U(1)_X$ with exotic charged leptons, is carried out. Instead of using the minimal scalar sector able to break the symmetry in a proper way, we introduce an alternative set of four Higgs scalar triplets, which combined with an anomaly-free discrete symmetry, produce quark and charged lepton mass spectrum without hierarchies in the Yukawa coupling constants. We also embed the structure into a simple group and show some conditions to achieve a low gauge coupling unification, avoidin…
The weak currents with respect to the diagonal neutral bosons $Z$,$Z^{\prime}$, and $Z^{\prime\prime}$ of a specific \textbf{$SU(4)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{Y}$} gauge model are computed in detail for all the fermion families involved therein. Our algebraical approach, which is based on the general method of solving gauge models with high symmetries proposed several years ago by Cotăescu, recovers in a non-trivial way all the Standard Model values for current couplings of the traditional leptons and quarks, and predicts plausible values for those of the exotic fermions in the model.
We study some of the consequences of the SU(6)$_{L}\otimes$U(1)$_{Y}$ model of unification of electroweak interactions and families with a horizontal gauge group SU(2)$_{H}$, paying special attention to processes with flavor changing neutral currents. We compute at tree level the decays $K^{+}\longrightarrow π^{+}μ^{+}e^{-}$, $K_L^0\longrightarrow μ^{+}e^{-}$ and $μ^{-} \longrightarrow e^{-} \bar{ν_e} ν_μ$ from which we obtain lower bounds for the mass of the horizontal gauge boson associated with FCNC. Finally we obtain limits on the mixing between ordinary and exotic charged leptons.
For the particular class of \textbf{$SU(4)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{Y}$} electro-weak models without exotic electric charges, some plausible phenomenological predictions - such as the boson mass spectrum and charges of all the fermions involved therein - are made by using the algebraical approach of the exactly solving method for gauge models with high symmetries. Along with the one-parameter resulting mass scale (to be confirmed at TeV scale in LHC, LEP, CDF and other high energy experiments) our approach predicts the exact expressions of the charges (both electric and neutral) in the fermion sector,…
There are different models based on the gauge symmetry $SU(3)_C \otimes SU(3)_L \otimes U(1)_X$ (331) some of them includes exotic particles and others are constructed without any exotic charges assigned to the fermionic spectrum. Each model build up on 331 symmetry has its own interesting properties according to the representations of the gauge group used for the fermionic spectrum; that is the main reason to explore and identify the possible sources of flavor changing neutral currents and lepton flavor violation at tree level.
We study an electroweak gauge extension of the standard model, so called 3-4-1 model, which does not contain exotic electric charges and it is anomaly free. We discuss phenomenological constraints of the model and compute all the corrections to the muon magnetic moment. Mainly, we discuss different mass regimes and their impact on this correction, deriving for the first time direct limits on the masses of the neutral fermions and charged vector bosons. Interestingly, the model could address the reported muon anomalous magnetic moment excess, however it would demands a rather low scale of symme…
We examine a $SU(3)_c \otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)$ gauge model which has a parity symmetric Lagrangian. The parity symmetry has the novel feature that it interchanges the gluons with the $SU(3)_L$ gauge bosons (which contain the ordinary $SU(2)_L$ weak gauge bosons). We show that the model reduces to the standard model at low energies and also predicts new physics in the form of exotic fermions.
We propose a new $SU(6)\otimes U(1)_{X}$ GUT model free from anomalies, with a 750 GeV scalar candidate which can decay into two photons, compatible with the recent diphoton signal reported by ATLAS and CMS collaborations. This model gives masses to all fermions and may explain the 750GeV signal through one loop decays to $γγ$ with charged vector and charged Higgs bosons, as well as up- and electron-like exotic particles that arise naturally from the condition of cancellation of anomalies of the $SU(6)\otimes U(1)_{X}$ group. We obtain, for different width approximations, allowed mass regions …
Recently, a hadronic state named $η_1(1855)$, about 1.86 GeV, was observed in the BESIII experiment. This finding has a peculiar interest due to its exotic quantum number $J^{PC}=1^{-+}$. In this paper, we examine the tetraquark interpretation for the structure of $η_1(1855)$ in the configurations of $[1_c]_{\bar{s}s}\otimes[1_c]_{\bar{q}q}$ and $[1_c]_{\bar{s}q}\otimes[1_c]_{\bar{s}q}$, and perform a mass spectrum calculation in the framework of QCD sum rules. The results show that the observed $η_1(1855)$ could be embedded into the $[1_c]_{\bar{s}s}\otimes[1_c]_{\bar{q}q}$ configuration. The…
Very recently a new hadronic structure around $3.98$ GeV was observed in BESIII experiment. From its decay modes, it is reasonable for people to assign it to the category of exotic state, say $Z^+_{cs}$, the stranged-parter of $Z_{c}(3900)$. This finding indicates for the first time the exotic state with strange quark in charm sector, and hence has a peculiar importance. By virtue of the QCD Sum Rule technique, we analyze the $Z^+_{cs}$ about its possible configuration and physical properties, and find it could be configured as a mixture of two types of structures, $[1_c]_{\bar{c} u}\otimes[1_…
In this brief report, apart from the usual approach, we discriminate among models in the class of \textbf{$SU(4)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{Y}$} electro-weak gauge models by just setting the versors in the method of the exactly solving gauge models with high symmetries. We prove that the method itself naturally predicts the correct assingment of the electric charge spectrum along with the relation between the gauge couplings of the groups involved therein for each particular model in this class.
To explaine the matter-antimatter asymmetry, a supersymmetric extention of the standard model is proposed where baryon and lepton numbers are local gauged(BLMSSM), and exotic superfields are introduced when gauge group is enlarged to $SU(3)_C\otimes SU(2)_L\otimes U(1)_Y \otimes U(1)_B \otimes U(1)_L$. As signals of new physics have not been observed on Large Hadron Collider, the parameter space relevant to the masses of new particles is stringently constrainted. By diagonalizing the mass squared matrices for neutral scalar sectors and the mass matrices for exotic quarks, we plot the masses of…
We study the minimal set of Higgs scalars, for models based on the local gauge group $SU(3)_c \otimes SU(3)_L \otimes U(1)_X$ which do not contain particles with exotic electric charges. We show that only two Higgs $SU(3)_L$ triplets are needed in order to properly break the symmetry. The exact tree-level scalar mass matrices resulting from symmetry breaking are calculated at the minimum of the most general scalar potential, and the gauge bosons are obtained, together with their couplings to the physical scalar fields. We show how the scalar sector introduced is enough to produce masses for fe…
We have systematically calculated the mass spectra for S-wave and P-wave fully-charm $c\bar{c}c\bar{c}$ and fully-bottom $b\bar{b}b\bar{b}$ tetraquark states in the $\mathbf{8}_{[Q\bar{Q}]}\otimes \mathbf{8}_{[Q\bar{Q}]}$ color configuration, by using the moment QCD sum rule method. The masses for the fully-charm $c\bar cc\bar c$ tetraquark states are predicted about $6.3-6.5$ GeV for S-wave channels and $7.0-7.2$ GeV for P-wave channels. These results suggest the possibility that there are some $\mathbf{8}_{[c\bar{c}]}\otimes \mathbf{8}_{[c\bar{c}]}$ components in LHCb's di-$J/ψ$ structures. …
We take up again the study of the mass spectrum of the quark sector in a model with gauge symmetry $SU(3)_{c}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ (331). In a special type II-like 331 model, we obtain specific zero-texture mass matrices for the quarks which predict four massless quarks ($u,c,d,s$) and two massive quarks ($b,t$) at the electroweak scale ($\sim $ GeV). By considering the mixing between the SM quarks and new exotic quarks at large scales predicted by the model, we find that a third quark (associated to the charm quark) acquires a mass. The remaining light quarks ($u,d,s$) get small …
We present an extension of the Standard Model to the local gauge group $SU(3)_c\otimes SU(4)_L\otimes U(1)_X$ with a family non-universal treatment and anomalies canceled among the three families in a nontrivial fashion. The mass scales, the gauge boson masses, and the masses for the spin 1/2 particles in the model are analyzed. The neutral currents coupled to all neutral vector bosons in the model are studied, and particular values of the parameters are used in order to simplify the mixing between the three neutral currents present in the theory, mixing which is further constrained by experim…
Lepton family number violation processes arise in the $SU(6)_L \otimes U(1)_Y$ model due to the presence of an extra neutral gauge boson, Z$'$, with family changing couplings, and due to the fact that this model demands the existence of heavy exotic leptons. The mixing of the standard Z with Z$'$ and the mixing of ordinary leptons with exotic ones induce together family changing couplings on the Z and therefore nonvanishing rates for lepton family number violation processes, such as $Z \to e \barμ$, $μ\to ee\bar{e}$ and $μ\to eγ$. Additional contributions to the processes $μ\to e γ$ and $μ\to …
A supersymmetric version of the $SU(3)_L \otimes U(1)_X$ gauge model is presented. The model is embedded in a $SU(6)_L \otimes U(1)_X$ gauge group and it has been built up completely quiral anomaly free and without any exotic charges in the fermionic content. The Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model can be seen as an effective theory of this larger symmetry. We analyze how the spectrum of the new model can shift the upper bound on the CP-even Higgs boson and we find that it can be moved up to 143 GeV.
We investigate how exotic differential structures may reveal themselves in particle physics. The analysis is based on the A. Connes' construction of the standard model. It is shown that, if one of the copies of the spacetime manifold is equipped with an exotic differential structure, compact object of geometric origin may exist even if the spacetime is topologically trivial. Possible implications are discussed. An $SU(3)\otimes SU(2)\otimes U(1)$ gauge model is constructed. This model may not be realistic but it shows what kind of physical phenomena might be expected due to the existence of ex…
We classify the meson and baryon long lived resonances considering quarks with electric charge 5/3 and $-4/3$ (in units of $\vert e\vert$) predicted by some 3-3-1 models. Some of these exotic resonances have the usual electric charges $0,\pm1$, others have $\pm(3,4,5)$, and the lightest ones decaying only into leptons plus known resonances. We propose another heavy $SU(3)_H$ global symmetry under which hadrons involving only exotic quarks can be constructed.
An extension of the Standard Model to the local gauge group $SU(3)_c\otimes SU(3)_L\otimes U(1)_X$ which is a subgroup of the electroweak-strong unification group $E_6$ is analyzed. The mass scales, the gauge boson masses, and the masses for the spin 1/2 particles in the model are calculated. The mass differences between the up and down quark sectors, between the quarks and leptons, and between the charged and neutral leptons in one family are explained as a consequence of mixing of ordinary with exotic fermions implied by the model. By using experimental results we constrain the mixing angle …
We propose a predictive inert 2 Higgs doublet model, where the Standard Model (SM) symmetry is extended by $S_{3}\otimes Z_{2}\otimes Z_{12}$ and the field content is enlarged by extra scalar fields, charged exotic fermions and two heavy right-handed Majorana neutrinos. The charged exotic fermions generate a nontrivial quark mixing and provide one-loop-level masses for the first- and second-generation charged fermions. The masses of the light active neutrinos are generated from a one loop-level radiative seesaw mechanism. Our model successfully explains the observed SM fermion mass and mixing …
A detailed analysis of $Z^{'0}Z^{'0}$, $K^{+}K^{-}$ and $K^{0}\bar{K}^{0}$ pair production in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions is presented by using helicity amplitudes. The trilinear bosons couplings in the $SU(3)_{C}\otimes SU(3)_{L}\otimes U(1)_{X}$ models without exotic electric charges are also calculated. We carry out the mentioned analysis for two models, one of them is a one family model which is an $E_6$ subgroup \cite{b1} and the other one is a three family model with right handed neutrinos\cite{b2,b3}. These models do not contain exotic electric charges. For them, we give explicit formulae a…
A detailed study of the criteria for stability of the scalar potential, and the proper electroweak symmetry breaking pattern in some 3-3-1 models without exotic electric charges is presented. In this paper we concentrate in a scalar sector with three Higgs scalar triplets, with a potential that does not include the cubic term, due to the presence of a discrete symmetry. For the analysis we use, and improve, a method previously developed to study the scalar potential in the two-Higgs-doublet extension of the standard model. Our main result is to show the consistency of those 3-3-1 models withou…
The extensions of the Standard Model based on the $SU(3)_{C} \otimes SU(3)_{L} \otimes U(1)_{X}$ gauge group are known as 331 Models. Different properties such as the fermion assignment and the electric charges of the exotic spectrum, that defines a particular 331 model, are fixed by a $β$ parameter. In this article we study the electric charge quantization in two versions of the 331 models, set by the conditions $β=1/\left( 3\sqrt{3}\right)$ and $β=0$. In these frameworks, arise exotic particles, for instance, new leptons and gauge bosons with a fractional electric charge. Additionally, depen…
We consider a gauge model based on $SU(3)\otimes U(1)$ symmetry in which the lepton number is violated explicitly by charged scalar and gauge bosons, including a vector field with double electric charge. Although there exist in the literature several models based on a $SU(3)\otimes U(1)$ gauge symmetry, our model has a different representation content and a quite different new physics at an, in principle, arbitrary mass scale. This is possibly the simplest way to enlarge the gauge group $SU_L(2)\otimes U_Y(1)$ in order to have doubly charged gauge bosons, without losing the natural features of…
After proving, in a previous paper, that the electric charge quantization occurs as a natural consequence in renormalizable $SU(3)_c \otimes SU(n)_{L} \otimes U(1)_{Y}$ gauge models, we take here a step further within the same paradigm in order to obtain the precise weak charges quantization. To this end a viable boson mass spectrum yields first, once a proper parametrization in the Higgs sector is employed. Hence, by diagonalizing the neutral bosons mass matrix, the quantized neutral weak charge operators are obtained. The Standard Model phenomenology is entirely recovered, as its scale ($v_{…
An extension of the gauge group $SU(2)_L\otimes U(1)_Y$ of the standard model to the symmetry group $SU(4)_L\otimes U(1)_X$ (3-4-1 for short) is presented. The model does not contain exotic electric charges and anomaly cancellation is achieved with a family of quarks transforming differently from the other two, thus leading to FCNC. By introducing a discrete $Z_2$ symmetry we obtain a consistent fermion mass spectrum, and avoid unitarity violation of the CKM mixing matrix arising from the mixing of ordinary and exotic quarks. The neutral currents coupled to all neutral vector bosons are studie…
We investigate a variant of Left-Right symmetric model based on $E_6$ inspired $SU(3)_C \otimes SU(2)_L \otimes U(1)_L \otimes SU(2)_R \otimes U(1)_R$ gauge group $(32121)$. Spontaneous breaking of $32121$ down to the Standard Model (SM) gauge group, requires a bi-doublet under $SU(2)_L \otimes SU(2)_R$, a right-handed doublet scalar under $SU(2)_R$ along with a $SU(2)$ singlet scalar boson. Symmetry breaking leads to several neutral and charged massive gauge bosons apart from the SM $W$ and $Z$. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) results for the search of heavy gauge bosons can be used to constr…
Based on the expectation generated by the discovery of new particles by current colliders, we analyze the decay of the Z' boson in the frame of one of the SU(3)L \otimes U(1)N electroweak extensions of the standard model. The main objective is calculate the decay rate of this exotic boson in the aforementioned model at the tree level. With this purpose we need to develop the gauge sector, where we find thirty-three interaction terms. Mentioned particle (Z') has not yet been observed experimentally, but a large number of models predict its existence. This boson exhibits a variety of decay chann…
We show that three SU(2) singlet neutral scalars (two CP-even and one CP-odd) in the spectrum of models based on the gauge symmetry SU(3)_c X SU(3)_L X U(1)_X, which do not contain exotic electric charges, are realistic candidates for thermally generated self-interacting dark matter in the Universe, a type of dark matter that has been recently proposed in order to overcome some difficulties of collisionless cold dark matter models at the galactic scale. These candidates arise without introducing a new mass scale in the model and/or without the need for a discrete symmetry to stabilize them, bu…
We prove that - even at a low TeV scale - the canonical seesaw mechanism can be naturally implemented in the exact solution of a particular 3-3-1 gauge model, since a very small alteration $ε$ in the parameter matrix of the Higgs sector is taken into account. Therefore, this new parameter can act as an appropriate mass source for neutrinos, while - due to the main parameter $a$ - all the previously achieved results in the exact solution of the model are recovered. Moreover, this mathematical artifice does separate the boson mass spectrum from the neutrino mass issue, hence giving more flexibil…
In this research, we propose a modified version of the 3-3-1 model, incorporating a type I+II seesaw mechanism and Z4 discrete symmetry, as a framework for investigating lepton flavor-violating (LFV) decays. This model successfully yields the left-handed neutrinos mass square difference in the eV scale, with specific values of mass square differences; and generates mixing angles that align with experimental data. Furthermore, we develop SARAH and SPheno algorithms tailored for our modified model, enabling us to estimate the magnitude of LFV observables. Our calculations indicate favorable resu…
A new flipped $SU(3)_C\otimes SU(4)_L\otimes U(1)_X$ model without exotic electric charges is proposed. All the quarks families are arranged in the same representation while leptons generations are in different representations leading to a tree level FCNC. Moreover, It is shown that the cancellation of the triangle chiral anomalies requires new additional leptons 10-plet and quadruplet. All fermions masses have been also discussed. Furthermore, using the most recent experimental data of the branching ratios of $μ\to ee\bar{e}$ and $μ\to eγ$ rare decay modes, stringent bounds on the heavy neutr…
In a model with a gauge group $G_{SM}\otimes U(1)_X$, where $G_{SM} \equiv SU(3)_C \otimes SU(2)_L \otimes U(1)_Y$ is the standard model gauge group and $U(1)_X$ is a horizontal local gauge symmetry, we propose a radiative generation of the spectrum of quark masses and mixing angles. The assignment of horizontal charges is such that at tree level only the third family is massive. Using these tree level masses and introducing exotic scalars, the light families of quarks acquire hierarchical masses through radiative corrections. The rank three quark mass matrices obtained are written in terms of…
We argue that the gauge symmetry which includes SU(3)_L as a higher weak-isospin symmetry is manifestly given by SU(3)_C\otimes SU(3)_L\otimes U(1)_X\otimes U(1)_N, where the last two factors determine the electric charge and B-L, respectively. This theory not only provides a consistent unification of the electroweak and B-L interactions, but also gives insights in dark matter, neutrino masses, and inflation. The dark matter belongs to a class of new particles that have wrong B-L numbers, and is stabilized due to a newly-realized W-parity as residual gauge symmetry. The B-L breaking field is i…
We revisit a theory that proposes a dark charge, $D$, as a dequantization of the electric charge, $Q$. We find that the general arguments of anomaly cancelation and fermion mass generation yield both $D$ and $Q$, nontrivially unified with the weak isospin $T_i$ $(i={1,2,3})$ in a novel gauge symmetry, $SU(3)_C\otimes SU(2)_L\otimes U(1)_Y\otimes U(1)_N$, where $Y$ and $N$ determine $Q$ and $D$ through the $T_3$ operator, i.e. $Q=T_3+Y$ and $D=T_3+N$, respectively. A new observation is that fundamental particles possess a dynamical dark charge which governs both neutrino mass and dark matter, w…
Models with fermions in bifundamental representations can lead naturally to family unification as opposed to family replication. Such models typically predict (exotic) color singlet states with fractional electric charge, and magnetic monopoles with multiple Dirac charge. The exotics may be at the TeV scale, and relatively light magnetic monopoles (greater than about 10^7 GeV) can be present in the galaxy with abundance near the Parker bound. We focus on three family SU(4)XSU(3)XSU(3) models.
In the context of 331 models we analyze the phenomenology of exotic $T$ quarks with electric charge 2/3. We establish bounds for the corresponding masses and mixing angles and study the decay modes $T\to bW$, $tZ$ and $qH$. It is found that the decays into scalars are strongly dependent on the model parameters, and can be the dominant ones in a scenario with approximate flavor symmetry.
The mass splittings for the Majorana neutrinos in the exact solution of a particular 3-3-1 gauge model are computed here in detail. Since both $\sin^{2}θ_{13}\simeq0$ and the mass splittings ratio $r_Δ\simeq0.033$ are taken into account, the analytical calculations seem to predict an inverted mass hierarchy and a mixing matrix with a texture based on a very close approximation to the bi-maximal mixing. The resulting formulas for the mass squared differences can naturally accomodate the available data if the unique free parameter ($a$) gets very small values ($\sim10^{-15}$). Consequently, the …
The embedding in SU(4)xSU(3)xSU(3) of the well studied gauge groups SU(4)xSU(2)xSU(2) and SU(3)xSU(3)xSU(3) naturally leads to family unification as opposed to simple family replication. An inescapable consequence is the predicted existence of (exotic)color singlet states that carry fractional electric charge. The corresponding magnetic monopoles carry multiple Dirac magnetic charge, can be relatively light (\sim 10^{7}-10^{13}GeV), and may be present in the galaxy not far below the Parker bound.
We carry a systematic study of possible extensions of the standard model based on the gauge group SU(3)_c X SU(4)_L X U(1)_X. We consider both models with particles with exotic electric charges and models which do not contain exotic electric charges neither in the gauge boson sector nor in the fermion sector. For the first case an infinite number of models can, in principle, be constructed, while the restriction to non-exotic electric charges only allows for eight different anomaly-free models. Four of them are three-family models in the sense that anomalies cancel by an interplay between the …
An extension of the Standard Model to the local gauge group $SU(3)_c\otimes SU(4)_L\otimes U(1)_X$ as a three-family model is presented. The model does not contain exotic electric charges and we obtain a consistent mass spectrum by introducing an anomaly-free discrete $Z_2$ symmetry. The neutral currents coupled to all neutral vector bosons in the model are studied. By using experimental results from the CERN LEP, SLAC Linear Collider and atomic parity violation we constrain the mixing angle between two of the neutral currents in the model and the mass of the additional neutral gauge bosons to…
Dark matter must be stabilized over the cosmological timescale, which demands the existence of a stabilizing symmetry, derived by a dark charge, $D$. The existence of this dark charge may affect the quantization of electric charge, which theoretically shifts the electric charge, thus the hypercharge to a novel gauge extension, $SU(3)_C\otimes SU(2)_L\otimes U(1)_Y\otimes U(1)_N$, where $N$ determines $D=T_3+N$, similar to $Q=T_3+Y$. New observation of this work is that the dark charge is broken down to two kinds of dark parity, $Z_2$ and $Z'_2$, which subsequently imply three scenarios of dark…
In the minimal Standard Model (MSM) with three generations of quarks and leptons, neutrinos can have tiny charges consistent with electromagnetic gauge invariance. There are three types of non-standard electric charge, given by $Q_{st} + ε(L_i - L_j)$, where $i, j = e, μ, τ$ $(i \neq j)$, $Q_{st}$ is standard electric charge, $L_i$ is a family-lepton--number, and $ε$ is an arbitrary parameter which is put equal to zero in the usual incarnation of the MSM. These three non-standard electric charges are of considerable theoretical interest because they are compatible with the MSM Lagrangian and $…
Heavy long-lived multi-charged leptons (MCLs) are predicted by various new physics models. These hypothetical MCLs can form bound states, due to their high electric charges and long life times. In this work, we propose a novel strategy of searching for MCLs through their bound state productions and decays. By utilizing LHC-8 TeV data in searching for resonances in the diphoton channel, we exclude the masses of isospin singlet heavy leptons with electric charge $|q|\geq 6$ (in units of electron charge) lower than $\sim$1.2 TeV, which are much stronger than the corresponding 8 TeV LHC bounds fro…
It has recently been pointed out that the 511 keV emission line detected by INTEGRAL/SPI from the bulge of our galaxy could be explained by annihilations of light dark matter particles into $e^+ e^-$. We present the possibility that dark matter could be made of scalar candidates, namely, of the Higgs bosons in the models based on ${SU}(3)_C\otimes {SU}(3)_L \otimes {U}(1)_N$ (3-3-1) gauge group. These particles are singlet of the ${SU}(2)_L \otimes {U}(1)_Y$ group, so they do not interact with the ordinary particles, exept the Higgs boson in the standard model. The Spergel-Steinhardt condition…
The experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are able to discover or set limits on the production of exotic particles with TeV-scale masses possessing values of electric and/or magnetic charge such that they behave as highly ionising particles (HIPs). In this paper the sensitivity of the LHC experiments to HIP production is discussed in detail. It is shown that a number of different detection methods are required to investigate as fully as possible the charge-mass range. These include direct detection as the HIPs pass through either passive or active detectors and, in the case of magneti…
We present a new model based on the SU(3)xSU(2)xU(1) symmetry, in which there is a new consistent set of chiral fermion fields that renders the model free from anomalies. The new fermions do not share the usual family structure of the Standard Model and some of them have exotic electric charges, as the quarks X and Y with electric charge 5/3 and -4/3, respectively. Interestingly, the model contains a new heavy neutral lepton which may be a dark matter candidate. Two Higgs doublets are present in our construction, so that two CP even scalars are present in the model particle spectrum. One of th…
Since the electric charge in the standard model is theoretically not quantized, we may have a variant of it, called dark charge. Similar to the electric charge, the dark charge neither commutes nor closes algebraically with $SU(2)_L$. The condition of algebraic closure leads to a novel gauge extension, $SU(2)_L \otimes U(1)_Y \otimes U(1)_N$, where $Y$ and $N$ determine the electric and dark charges, respectively, apart from the color group. We argue that the existence of the dark charge, thus $N$, leads to novel scenarios of multi-component dark matter, in general. The dark matter stability i…
Any of neutrinos similarly to a kind of charged lepton has a non-zero mass responsible as well as for its Coulomb behavior. Such a neutrino can possess both electric charge and vector dipole moment. Their form factors appear, for example, at the polarized neutrino scattering in the field of a spinless nucleus. We derive an equation which relates the masses to a ratio of Dirac and Pauli form factors of each lepton and its neutrino. A new left-right antisymmetric theory of force unification based on a gauge group $SU(2)_{L}$ $\otimes$ $SU(2)_{R}$ $\otimes$ $U(1)$ is suggested. In this theory, th…
A simple extension of the Standard Model (SM), based on the gauge group $SU(3)_C\otimes SU(3)_L\otimes U(1)_Y$ with $Y$ being the hypercharge, is considered. We show that, by imposing an approximate global $SU(2)_L\times SU(2)_R$ custodial symmetry at the SM energy scale, the $Z-Z'$ mixing is absent at tree level and the value of the $ρ$ parameter can be kept close to one. Tree-level flavor-changing neutral currents are also reduced to three particles, namely $Z'$, a CP-odd Higgs and a CP-even Higgs. The model predicts new leptons with electric charges of $\pm 1/2e$ and new quarks with $\pm 1/…
The current status of electric dipole moments of diamagnetic atoms which involves the synergy between atomic experiments and three different theoretical areas -- particle, nuclear and atomic is reviewed. Various models of particle physics that predict CP violation, which is necessary for the existence of such electric dipole moments, are presented. These include the standard model of particle physics and various extensions of it. Effective hadron level combined charge conjugation (C) and parity (P) symmetry violating interactions are derived taking into consideration different ways in which a …
It is shown that for a higher weak isospin symmetry, $SU(P)_L$ with $P\geq 3$, the baryon minus lepton charge $B-L$ neither commutes nor closes algebraically with $SU(P)_L$ similar to the electric charge $Q$, which all lead to a $SU(3)_C\otimes SU(P)_L\otimes U(1)_X\otimes U(1)_N$ gauge completion, where $X$ and $N$ determine $Q$ and $B-L$, respectively. As a direct result, the neutrinos obtain appropriate masses via a canonical seesaw. While the version with $P=3$ supplies the schemes of single-component dark matter well established in the literature, we prove in this work that the models wit…
General limits on exotic heavy quarks T, B and X with masses above 300 GeV are presented for arbitrary branching fractions of T=>Wb, T=>Zt, T=>Ht, B=>Wt, B=>Zb, B=>Hb and X=>Wt. The results are based on a CMS search in final states with three isolated leptons (electron or muon) or two isolated leptons with the same electric charge. Exotic heavy quark pair production through the strong interaction is considered. In the context of vector-like quark models, T quarks with a mass mT < 480 GeV and mT < 550 GeV are excluded for weak isospin singlets and doublets, respectively, and B quarks with a mas…
It is well established that the $SU(P)_L$ gauge symmetry for $P\geq 3$ can address the question of fermion generation number due to the anomaly cancellation, but it neither commutes nor closes algebraically with electric and baryon-minus-lepton charges. Hence, two $U(1)$ factors that determine such charges are required, yielding a complete gauge symmetry, $SU(P)_L\otimes U(1)_X\otimes U(1)_N$, apart from the color group. The resulting theory manifestly provides neutrino mass, dark matter, inflation, and baryon asymmetry of the universe. Furthermore, this gauge structure may present kinetic mix…
